You want art samples? Ok then! :D
Here's my random pencil art:

I have also made a few cd covers. Here's one of the better ones:
http://home.ripway.com/2004-10/189900/ZeldaSynthOrchestra.jpg
Any good?
EDIT: it seems that my ripway account has exceeded its daily download limit. So if you can't see these pics, don't worry, they'll be working again in the next 24 hours.

i have Nero Cd Cover Creator as to save files in that format if needed as well as a few other cover design programs (i think). So the distribution format can be whatever needed....anyways, enough rambling from me.

Ooh, finally it's CD cover time. I wanna give it a try too <3
I don't have any real art to show though as an example of what i'm capable of (unless you wanna see school works =x ). I do have a few ideas for the cover.
I got a question also : is it only for the front or we do front + back? Any restrictions other than it has to be in "printable" format?

Hmm...I don't see anything really impressive yet. :|
Vilecat, school works are fine.
It will have to fill out a jewel case for a CD; front, back, and sides.

Oh ok, that's good to know. I haven't found many of my school works to be good enough to present, except the last semester project we have. But since it's a CD-rom, well i'm too lazy to take screenshots. Instead, i've found doodles and such of what i did in the last months.
Image from a loading animation we had to do this semester. It had to be animated and had certain size and format restrictions. For some reasons, the colors are darker than when i made it... Must be the screen calibration >_<;;

Logo contest a year ago during a class. We had to create a logo containing a fish, a trident, a star, and the color blue. We also had to plan a space for the text to be written later. It had to represent an organism related to the sea.

Random doodle i inked recently

The 2 pages of Kirby doodles i did way back in early November, when the project was still in developpement.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/Vilecat/KirbyDoodles2.jpg
This is the first pencil draft of the 1st CD Cover(front) idea i had for this project.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/Vilecat/CD_Cover1.jpg
I might swap Sword Kirby and Fighter Kirby (his sword looks like a plastic toy  ). I based the Kirby designs off Kirby : Nightmare in Dreamland, since it's basically a remake of Kirby's Adventure, from what i recall. I also plan to not keep the pencil outlines, to have results similar of MacHall's latest boards/comics. Title will be added above the picture.
I'll have at least an other idea that i'll post soon (probably later today). Please i'd like to know if it's worth of working more on this, and if yes, your comments and/or suggestions.

I'd like to see something like this. I haven't decided on a background yet, and thought you people might give me tips on that. Also, the text might just be temporary, and the star will be edited so that it looks to be more in the foreground. This is just a first draft. Well, no more delay.

EDIT: I tried giving the star an outline. That's the only update with this one.

I'm not asking for CD cover mockups. I'm asking for samples of work you guys have already done so I can discuss what the album cover will look like after I choose an artist. :|
So don't make RotS logos or anything. Just show me a sample of your work, maybe a drawing of Kirby (which will not necessarily be used for the album cover). So far the only impressive stuff I see is Vilecat's, but I'm still waiting on more people before I decide.

Hmmmmmm, I don't have access to my computer right now, so I can't really show off any CD labels I've down short of RoFL, and I'm sure DS is familiar with most if not all of my wallpapers. I'll try to get access to my computer today and post some shizzle dizzles.
In the meantime:

Edit: And not that my wallpapers are an accurate example of what I'm fully capable of because...I'm usually pretty confined for what I want to do with my wallpapers so that my desktop icons fit right, and everythings not too cluttered yadda yadda...but I suppose that's kind of a given. >_>

Let the man title his project as he wants.
Okay, here's my bid. I don't draw Kirby very often, so I'm not great at him in specific, but I daresay I have the necessary skills.
Here (http://home.earthlink.net/~dastuart/images/Kirby.jpg)'s something that I did rather too quickly in Photoshop when I should have been writing an essay. It would look a little better if I had given it proper time.
This (http://home.earthlink.net/~dastuart/images/Kirby%20sample.jpg) is a little doodle that I did when I should have been doing math.
And this (http://home.earthlink.net/~dastuart/images/geekfight.htm) is my "masterpiece" to date. The best comic I've ever done, it was a school project over the summer two years ago. Unfortunately I haven't done so many comics since then. :( Anyway, I have some other (non-Kirby) pieces that I rather like, so if you want to see them, I'll scan them after I get my work done. :)
And StarZander, those are cool. I especially like "Slight Impossibility."

OKAY, so uh, my computer kind of ate itself last Wednesday. I was carrying it down the steps to my porch to bring it to my parents' place over spring break, and I slipped on the ice, landed on the bottom step on my tailbone, and the computer landed on my chest and broke a couple ribs. Later found out that this fried my videocard. Soooooo... I think what I'm going to try to do is get FL Studio installed on my new machine (the one I'm using right now) and then pull the song file off of my other hard drive to finish it up.

I warned you it was crappy, but I felt like it would be wrong to not even try. Besides, I was bored and did it in my spare 5 mins that I had to work with.
As for the font.... I know. I hated it to begin with. I had nothing else to work with, so that's what I used.
As for the "borrowed" picture... so what? Check out the second CD cover art for Hedgehog Heaven.
Should I bother working on this? Tell me yes or no. If no, I'll just quit with this and wait for it to be released. If yes, I'll actually put a concious effort into this.

As a request from Shariq, I'll be remixing the Final boss theme. I've been working since last week and now I'm almost halfway through it. I'm having some problems with some of the melodies that don't fit right so I think I'm gonna have to make a lot of changes around the melody. I'll work hard on this and I hope I can deliver something of high quality to this project.

Anyway, i'm happy to see the project's not totally dead (so many answers since the last time i decided to take a look around). On a side note : any news about the CD art? Doesn't have to be precise info, but it'd be nice to hear at least a word about it, since there's been "auditions" since the last month and a half or so.

For cover art, I'd like something clean, artdeco-ish, kind of like a throwback to 50s/60s space posters. No black outlines on anything, no official art either.
I'm thinking Kirby (with no powers) riding on a warp star that looks like it's moving upward through a starry backdrop.
See what you can come up with, Vilecat, Linearity. :)

It works with one of the ideas i had about Kirby's pose and the perspective. As for the art-deco look, i'll search a bit to have a good idea of the style. I'll try to come up with something worth of being shown publicly before the end of the month
I made this (http://www.kwarp.com/pics/WarpstarJoyRide2.jpg) a while back.
It´s a wallpaper. The original CD art cover dimension is: 1000x1000. :)
Personally your work need more basic techniques of digital art. The stars are good. But need a good planning. Also, more variation on the colors and more domain in the lights.
But it is not bad at all. Keep it up.

Hello there. I just recently learned about this great project of yours and been reading up. Well I wonder if its too late to do this but heres some of my Kirby Art I have done:
This is a Kirby Dreamland 2 drawing I did after you beat King Dedede and Dark Matter's first form comes out (I messed up on his face cause of a bad refernce. I plan on fixing it soon):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v439/Neo_Forte/Art/KirbyDream2.jpg
This is from Dreamland 3 at the end of the game when Zero is defeated. Kirby and Gooey with the Heart Power are floating away:

And finally a MS Paint I did of Zero:

Yeah, do we want to do this as a group, Vilecat? Maybe now, maybe after we have our individual things done? I'm having a bit of trouble getting "art deco" into a starry background and Kirby. BTW, DS, do you want the Warp Star with outer glow? It looks cool, but not really like an Airstream trailer, which I hear is art deco.
I don't feel strongly one way or another. What do you think?

I'm not against a collab, not at all. I already have a few ideas on how to do it art deco style, and i'm searching how to "render" certain other elements (like Kirby itself) the same way.
Now i just wish i'd master more watercolor and i'd try something with it

Sweet. I'll draw a draft of the idea i have in mind too. And sadly, even if i wish i'd have it, i'm not good enough with watercolors to call it a skill... if it is, it's a very very sloppy one ^^; Nontheless, i'll try to get that draft done before the end of the week, between 2 coding lines. I'll do it as a break from work.
Oh, and if you want to have an idea of how art deco looked, the best thing is to help you with posters of that style. Other than that, in term of design support, there's not much offered that is not furniture, and books on the subject seem rare. Unless you have a Art History teacher that eats art deco for breakfast to help.

Well you'll have to sit for a while for the artwork to be finished. The 3 of us (Linearty, NeoForte and me) are loaded with assignements, projects and the likes for school lately. We've talked to each others a few times, discussed on how to mix our ideas (along with the art deco style) and even tried to draw a few rough concepts. It's developping slowly, but it's developping. We're not trying to rush it either, because a great project should have a great CD cover
For myself, i'll only be able to give 100% after June 8th, which is when i finish school. Unless one of you wanna work on one of my projects for me, i personnaly can't spend every day on it, but only once each 2-4 days or so. I'm sure you all know how the semester's final rush is, so our collab team would surely be grateful if you'd be patient for a bit more.
Don't worry DarkeSword, we'll still present you what we've come upfrom our brainstorming to very soon (probably in about a week or 2).
It'll give us an idea of what to change, what to keep, the direction we should take/keep, etc.

After the website is done, what else is there to do before we're done?

Anyway, I can't say I followed this project from the beginning, but I want to congratulate you and the mixers for putting the project together, DS. :) Although i'm not entirely familiar with the Kirby series I'm sure there'll be some good stuff coming out from this established OCR project especially with the lineup and promising concept that's at hand here.

April Fools! There is no project! Just a fake site and a big, fake thread full of fake posts!
Ah-hah-hah-haaaa!

Allright, when it's ready then. I'll stop being a whining fanboy and talkabout Kirby DS a bit. Speaking of which it's a pretty fun game. Takes a while to get good at though, especiallly those boss battles. As for the music, aside from the menu theme, I don't think I've come across a track that isn't a remix of an old Kirby tune. :P
Also, does hastily downloading the project music and uploading to one's own website count as a mirror?

I just need webspace. If you can provide webspace that I can directly link to, then I can send the music to you beforehand.

I can easily find you some webspace on some Italian servers, if you want.

I think I'll have to pass on that. One of my Dad's friends is doing me a favor by lending me free bandwidth, and I'd rather not repay that by crashing their servers. Not to mention all the hotlinking I'll have to deal with. :?
Anywhoo I'll shut up. No more posts from me till the project launches.

Meh. KWarp, you can always seed the torrent. Assuming that there will be a torrent. Which would be quite nice, for both the downloaders and the mirrors. Some good, quality seeds are always nice.

Until it goes down, I can provide a mirror on http://www.fusionstorage.com.
As soon as you get on AIM or Yahoo, DarkeSword, I'll IM ye and you can send me the tracks.

Just wanted to let everyone know what's going on.
I've distro'd the MP3s to the people I've chosen to be mirrors; still need to send to a few though.
I'm not going to make any promises concerning an exact date for the project release; however, I hope to have the album released sometime this weekend. This is not a promise or an official release date though; just an estimate.
Stay tuned. ^(^_^)^

Woot!
If there's anything I can do to help, hit me up on aim :)
As much as I'd love to hear the project in advance (and indeed I do) I'm being a saint and waiting for the project to be released before i'll listen to everyone's work. That's how respected the project should be, fokes. ;)

I totally wanted to do the same thing, but the allure of a new analoq song was just too much for me.

Is "fokes" even a word? :P

foke you? maybe?
"Foke" is my -- a warrior's -- term for intense concentration, extreme undivided attention. Humanity [collectively] calls it focus. The "us" in foc[us] connotes "we" to me; a collective; a group. I don't accept that. And do not find it inspiring. I changed the spelling, ergo, its meaning to suit myself, using it as a self-motivational cue that Life is Lone: I am in charge and control of myself -- or as I roar in my mind during those bouts of intense concentration, extreme undivided attention: "Take care of You and Yours, Warrior. Find your Foke."
It is not my intention to get others to use it. If others do, others do. That is not a goal I care about. There are many words used, and myriad thoughts and actions and beliefs the general population practices that I do not. It would do well for those people to always keep in their minds -- 5% of the population makes the whole of the world work. That 5% does not think as the other 95% do. They think differently. Oh, Warrior, you mean thinking outside the box? No, I don't say that and I don't mean that. The 5% that makes the wheels of the world turn don't think inside or outside a box. To these individuals there are no (box)lines, there are no limits. Explaining this in its entirety would take more time than I want to give it here.
Man does not concentrate or think collectively. He can't. Man thinks alone, all by himself. He must. He has to. No one can think for him [another]. Even a group of persons -- people -- have to each think for themselves. "Our minds are in agreement on this issue," someone might say. Still the same, each individual person of the "we' must think for themselves the content and substance of what is being said that is agreed upon by the whole.
In any hour and any issue of his life, man is free to think or evade that effort. Thinking requires a state of full, foked awareness. The act of foking one's consciousness is volitional. Man can foke his mind to a full, purposefully directed awareness of reality, or he can unfoke it and let it stray amiss in a semi-conscious stupor, merely reacting to any stimulus of the immediate moment, always at the mercy of his others.
When one unfokes his mind, he is only conscious in a subhuman sense of the word. He feels his way through life, he does not think.
Foke designates a quality of one's mental state, a quality of active alertness. Foke brings into a state the goal -- a directed mind committed to attaining and maintaining full awareness of reality. It's the state of a mind committed to seeing, to grasping, to understanding, to knowing. A commitment to grasp all the relevant full facts to one's concern and activity at any given time.
Or maybe it's this:
The drug fad that swept England is making its way to Hong Kong.
The new high is called Foke: Fake Coke — a powder that looks like cocaine but is a placebo. People spend HK$62 per gram for the alleged glamour of cutting lines to snort at parties.
Those in the know say it sells for a lot more in Hong Kong. It’ll fit right in with the fake Rolexes and knock-off Prada handbags.

Ooooh. Well, in Rexy's case, it all makes sense! :P
Wut? Some people from across town told me that stuff was flour. :)!!
