I loved this song as soon as I heard it, way back a month or so ago. I recommend this to people with ears.

Not my favorite goat mix, but it's a close second behind Purple Heart.

Awesome work goat, as always.

Frikin' finally!

I've been waiting for this mix to hit this site for the past summer! Every single milli-second of it rocks! "The Beginning" is the best song in all of the Castlevania series next to The Tragic Prince. Not only has goat managed to enhance the hardness of the 8-bit's original buzzes and bleeps, but he also adds his own spin offs with loud but pleasant window-breaking guitar work! I love the squel that opens things up, the solo at 2 minutes, the cymbals and strings at 3 and a half minutes, and the wolf howl that ends it off!

goat, when people hear of you, they will remember this song. Every one of your other rock remixes here just got served.

A shout out to everyone.....download or cry like a baby who just lost his/her pacifier.

:D I love you, goat! :D

Excellent metal mix... balls-to-the-wall indeed. I'm not even much of a fan of metal, but I love this. Good, great, nice, etc.

I first downloaded this using Mozilla, and it had some odd skipping or something that made it sound terrible. I read the reviews and I couldn't understand why anybody would call it good, or they just have distinct tastes that I will never understand.

So I tried IE, and it came through right. I must say, it is quite awesome. Castlevania has my favorite game music, and I love metal remixes, so this is perfect for me. Very nice ending effects.

Hehe, its kinda like it went from being totally marred into being totally perfect.

This Guitar rocks. This remix rocks. Goat rocks. Rock on! How much more can be said than this? How much more NEEDS to be said? Just listen to it! I am inspired by the rockingness of this rocking remix! Woo! All of it just fits together... its so coherant, and it all works...

DJPretz gave a glowing review of this, which is rare these days. But really, this DESERVES it. I'm not sure how you could do this better than it is done here.

Rock. \m/

Whoa. Good stuff.

My favorite part was the little bit of thunder at about 4'30". Perfect sample; I actually thought it started storming outside.

Not goat at its/his/her best, but still goes to prove that goat rocks - even without the -se-postfix. 8)

And Goat, you continue to amaze me. This isn't my favorite style, but I still love it. Keep up the awesome riffage.

While this is one of goat's finest...

I don't think people realize he has a website with a lot more music. He doesn't sent everything to OCR. Check out his other awesome stuff at www.powergoat.com

I haven't downloaded anything in about a year or so (not for lack of quality remixes, but I just got burned out on vg stuff for awhile), but as soon as I saw this on the front page I said, "hey, goat rocks." So I guess what I'm saying is if you only download one remix this year, make it this one.

Incredible guitar work, as always. It reminds me of Mustaine's playing at times. You show a real mastery of fret control. My only complaint is the fake-sounding drums and bass (they actually sound very good, but not *quite* real). I see from your site that you now have a bass guitar, so that should help, but I'd swoon if you made your remixes 100% perfect by getting a talented drummer involved too.

Top-notch remix.

Goat, I have to seriously congratulate you on this. Castlevania has, let's face it, crappy music. Somehow, you managed to create a piece based off of a Castlevania theme and make it good enough for me, who is pretty tanj picky about his music, download it. Good job.

I had the priveledge of hearing this on vgmix.com a while back, and I'm glad this was passed through the judges panel.

Rockin guitars, excellent arrangement, and great production. :) A++

Whoa this song is soooo awesome man...I'll probably rave about it in everyway that everyone else has...so I'll leave it at that. The storm effect is the bomb, I told my sister it was storming outside, then I listened to the song again and figured it out...

This is...

indeed...

very owny.

The only reason this isn't 10/10 is the guitar is overly loud. I played with my setup a bit and it never sounded totally right. They just seemed a bit *too* loud. Reguardless, thats a minor thing compared to the overall quality of this mix.

9.5/10

Please do not use me in adjective form. The situation regarding my use on the internet is bad enough as it is. I would appreciate your cooperation.

This remix is very high quality stuff, love the guitar, but the tempo/structure of the drums annoys me a bit. thank you, Goat.

goat,

You could consider me a fan of yours. I have loved every single piece of your work, and I would have to say that "Stained Glass Filth" is nothing short of awesome. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to your future releases.

Your guitar skills are phenomenal,

To add to my review of the song at VGMix, all I can say is I still listen to it this very day, and I've had it for four months now. Good work, goat. If we ever meet face to face, first thing you get is a big hug.

EDIT: I said it before and I'll say it again.
If Ailsean and goat were both lions, Ailsean would growl, but goat will roar.

Let's face it. This mix will blow you away.

Damn...this...is...awesome. I downloaded it knowing Goat is both heavy metal/castlevania loving. I heard this and it was pure awesome. The guitar work is simply great and the intro is very pulsating. I'll be jammin on my peavey for awhile on this one.

Defenitly your best mix to date, what can I say...more more!!! Simply perfect, I think it sounds exactly like the original songmakers wanted but couldn't.

Do 12 songs like this you got yourself a damn good album, wow...

I'm learning the song right now, on guitars first. I might even do it in cover.

Perfect mixing, compression quality and prestations.

Simply what I always wanted to here ever since I was 10.

Castlevania has soundtracks that I have loved since I was . . . I don't know . . . three years old? I've always wanted to hear some of these songs seriously rocked on guitar like they were meant to, and dammit Goat, you are my hero for doing such a good job on this one that I just want to curl up in fetal position and hold my headphones to my ears . . . 'cause I like it that much.

I like the wah guitar in the background on the verse, the trills and embellishments you stack on, and . . . like . . . that backpedaling thing you do at 1:14 . . . teh solo at 3:40 . . .

The only thing I would be able to complain about (ever so slightly) is that the rhythm guitar at the end when it's fading out could use a little more beefiness to it. It seems a little flat without the solo guitars over it.

But you rock.

Please do more.

The drums as it fades out....that's what really got me. I mean, the guitar is great and all, but the drums.....damn, the drums!

Either way, it's still damn good!

This is my favortie stage music from Castlevania. If I don't remember anything about the game itself, I'll remember the music. Goat did an awesome job on this one and I even added this remix to my playlist.

Thumbs up from me, man! ^_^

Surprisingly, not my favorite rendition of "Beginning" (arguably the most recognizable VG tune after the original SMB). The one thing I love about this track is the different directions goat takes the original music in. It shows his creativity as a guitarist better than the other tracks he has on OCR and has a perfect ending.

This is my favorite Goat remix I've heard so far; an extremely solid metal-based composition that I thoroughly enjoyed. This guy's work has opened my eyes to the heavy metal potential in Castlevania's music.

This is SICK AS FUCK. Some of the best metal I've heard. The drums compliment the guitar work perfectly, and the production is out of this world! You completely captured the spirit of the original, and made it even BETTER. 5 stars!

I love the ending! So professional!

Pretty brutal stuff, no wonder Goat was the metal king of the early OCR years. Tasteful but rocking solo, great drum fills, and then even another round of shredding solos, and a great ending round it out.

Totally Metal, and easily one of Goat's best tracks. \m/

Holy hell, that was an intense intro. These are the guitar tones that I so desperately wanted to hear in the previous mix. They sound crisp and clean, but still dirty at the same time. Very nice. The precision of the playing is just as solid as we normally hear from Chris. It's got his signature metal sound all over it. He does something very interesting in this track that he really hasn't done in his previous mixes and it concerns the dynamics. The song never really changes its intensity level; it starts out hard and stays that way. However, with some minor changes in the rhythm from the drums and power chords, he brings new dynamic levels to the track. It's a very interesting shift that's not really noticeable if you listen casually, but you can feel that it plays differently from his other tracks. Very good work on that front. The metal is sick in this; a great rockin song all around! The fadeout is unforgivable in a track like this though; it could have really used a powerful ending :). Not bad, mate; not bad at all!
