I liked it. One of the better Rock remixes on the site. Very clean.

Kept trying to post a review for this on VGMIX, but somethin' didn't like me. This song mesmerizes me every freaking time...I just love how the guitar takes everything under control. Sometimes I just sit back and close my eyes. The question->answer section is followed up with an awesome electric guitar..amn this is where it reaches the climax for me...great great job...

The beginning of it had me worried with the sound quality, but i had completely forgotten about it within the first 20 seconds.
Amazing guitar work with mellow drums that just fit the feeling. Dj P hit it right on when he mentioned Blue Oyster Cult and Sting. This song is addicting, and I keep playing it over and over.
It's mellow, yet has the 80's thriving in it. On my playlist for sure.

I like this one. Nice job. :)
However, it sounds a lot like one of the Three Doors Down songs. :P I'm not sure exactly if you did base it off of them or not, but sadly, the intro is very similar.

First off, I'm completely unfamiliar with the original. Never heard the song, never played the game.
With that said, this blew me away. If you do end up making a version with vocals please post it in the forums because I'm sure I'm not the only one who would love to hear it. This just rocks. DJP mentioned that it kinda sounded like an instrumental Game Over track and that had me expecting all out rock, but this is much slower and more flowing. Great mix, and one that no one should miss.

Congratulations Darangen. I read alot about your rejected mixes on the Judges Forums. It's great to see you finally made it through with perfect technical execution and excellent guitar playing. This does have an 80s feel and thank goodness no reverb on the snare drums. I also found the keychange very fitting as this them didn't sound great in D minor.
Good job and congratulations again.

I like this mix, though I kind of wish you hadn't told us that you were trying to write lyrics to accompany it, as when I listened to it, I found myself hearing where they would fit. :?
Still, the overall quality and concise simplicity of this mix shines through, vocals or not.

This is very nicely done. I love it (partially because you chose my favorite DKC2 track)

After playing DKC2 many years back, and reveling at the great soundtrack it offered, and then after I discovered OCRemix, I searched frantically like a madman trying to find the one score that completely captivated and entranced me everytime I stepped foot in the place that played said music.
To my dismay, I couldn't find it, and I began to frequent OCRemix more often just to hope to see that someone had remixed it. Days passed and nothing. Weeks passed and nothing. Months passes and nothing still. Wallowing in my woes, I waited even longer.
Until one day, one that had caught me off guard, I sat in shock, awe and surprise! It was a new DKC2 remix! I tried not to get my hopes up just in case. I glimpsed over the review; reading random words from random lines. Once again in dismay, I began to leave the review site...
...until one word popped up that I had missed in my frantic reading: "mines". I quickly performed a double take, this time taking time to read the entire review. I sat once again in shock, awe and surprise, as well as a mess but that's beside the point; anyways, I couldn't believe what I was reading! After my long awaited wait, I had finally found the ever elusive song in the form of an OCRemix.
But long story short - I am SOOOO phsyced that this has finally been remixed, and in such a good manner as well! Very very very good work! Now as I type this, and for the upcoming months, I will listen to this song nonstop to the point that I want to listen to it some more!
[really - I really really really really really really really really like this song - really!!! Thank you for making this long-winded, and excited person happy!]

Just a small note for now:
While people haven't commented on it here yet, in other places I've gotten comments on the "violin sample" referring to the higher/declining section played during the acoustic guitar break in the beginning. This isn't a violin, nor a violion sample, or even any kind of sample. It's a guitar with delay and gain that I used a volume pedal on to give it that swelling sound.
Thanks for the comments :) It's good to see people enjoying it.

The DKC2 mine music is one of my all-time favorite pieces of video game music... I still hum it to this day... there's something powerful about it... it FEELS empty and infinite, like a cave, and this '80's-licious rock mix captures that vibe a lot better than I'd had expected. Gorgeous.
Regardless of how bad ass this mix is, I'd still like to hear something closer to the original tune... that hard-edged industrial sort of thing.

I like it...I like it a lot. I'm definatly picking up the 80s vibe as (I listen for the third time.) I really enjoy the uber-cool distortion at 1'24-2'25. Very quality work. :)

I think DKC2 really has an excellent soundtrack and the mine music is easily its best, so this remix makes me happy. Great work. I'm a little curious about what the vocals sounded like, though. ;)

What an awsome mix to an already catchy tune. Something to listen to when you want to chill out or feeling bummed. That's all I'll say.

Absolutely excellent song. Can't help but love it.
Oh man! This remix is breathtaking! I always liked the melody! I heard it first in "Rockface Rumble" from DKC3 (it's very similar), and I fell in love with it instantly!
Well, what to say, other than ASTONISHING! I love the guitar solo from 1:53 onward!
...excellent, excellent, excellent...

Wow...what else can ya say? I have always been a big fan of DKC music but this is just...wow, ya know? And it will be totally funky w/lyrics! Anyway, Darangen did a freakin' awesome job w/this! It should SO go mainstream!

Well, I've finally finished writing From Within's lyrics, and just finished recording the vocals for it. Here it is for you to listen/comment :).
From Within (http://www.wosaddict.com/members/Darangen/download/From%20Within.mp3)
And the lyrics...
Yesterday's gone, but tomorrows not here..
(so live for today, yeah, just live for today)
I'd live for today, but today's lived in fear..
(don't push them away, no, don't push them away)
Holding back has kept me down
Far away from you
I'm falling deeper towards this trend
And everytime you come around
I see all there is to lose
This thorn, it pierces from within...
Wasting my time, wishing somehow you'd see..
(just go for the prize, man, just go for the prize)
The feelings inside, the questions in me..
(there's nothing to hide, no, there's nothing to hide)
Holding back has kept me down
Far away from you
I'm falling deeper towards this trend
And everytime you come around
I see all there is to lose
This thorn, it pierces from within...
So sick and tired of missing out
On all I long to feel
I need to stop this wheel I'm in
No matter what, no matter how
I'll break through this seal
And pull this thorn out from within
------------
I spent a bit of time on production on the vocals. I know they leave much to be desired, but I'm still learning.
Hope you like it :)

I've been looping this a lot lately, it's really hit a chord with my emotions these past few days. So imagine how surprised I was when I came here to comment and saw that the lyrical version of the song was done.
The lyrics are clearly very inspired and fit well with the tone of the song. The vocal performance however, is fairly average. I think I would have liked an even slower delivery, kind of like what Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails does with his slower paced songs. The best part of this song is clearly the solo at 1:58, which is far more enjoyable now when standing alone.
Overall, I'll probably be listening to the original more, but this one is definetly still a keeper. Both the original and the lyrical version make "From Within" one of the most inspired remixes ever made.
I think that Darangen has a good work here. Is very interesting to listen the two versions. When I listened the first (without voices) I imagined that really they would come voices. The version with voices seems to realize my imagination. Creative stuff, man! More Darangen musics!

I've heard both versions of the song, and I am wowed by the vocalized version. A few of the instruments sounded different in that version, and for the better. Keep it up!

This is a nicely done piece. Darangen's guitar play is something I've become a fan of recently. Good on ya man.

Yeah, this totally sounds like something from The Police. Hungry Eyes, maybe? Was that Sting, or The Police?
Anyway...very cool remix here. I love the guitar at 2:22. That is pure sweetness. The ending is equally as sweet. Excellent work, 10/10 from me!

I was wondering why I couldn't find a Mining Melancholy mix on the site, it's because here it's listed as Kannon's Klaim. I loved this song on the spc, and I love it in this remix.

Ah, classic OCR tune-age here. I've heard this one throughout my time on OCR and I never put together that it was Darangen. Excellent classic rock feel! The solo was a little loose, but a minor qualm at best. Having never really played DKC2, this makes me want to try it out on an emulator! The only thing I could've ask for would be a better defined kick, but again, not a deal breaker at all! Excellent work for your first submission!
This is beautiful. Why... why haven't I heard this before?!
Also, the intro reminds me of something and I can't think of what and it's killing me. ARG!
Aaannnyway, this is simply a wonderful track, everything has a rolling "being carried by waves" feel to it, not to mention this strikes a curious and unique balance between the natural, inherent energy found in rock with a very comforting, sleepy pace.
Oh, wow. This is a must download.
Definitely a liberal mix, but one that's really effectively handled. It has a really nice classic rock sound, and some good transitions. This is a really nice sound, and is pretty timeless. Really great work here. :)

I actually like this version better honestly. But both are nice masterpieces. The guitar work is done extremely well and it flows well with the source tune. I really can't imagine a better take with this tune in this genre. Damn good ReMix.
