Beautifully done!!
The synths are what really stood out for me(I love synths).
I loved the piano alterations in regards to the original SOM melody.
The Transition at 3:33 is very moving and reminiscent of major motion picture scores.
This is by far one of the best,if not,the best SOM remix created.
Couldn't have asked for a better way to end my night.
9.7/10

nice work. totally not as good as protricity's manbeef on rainbow street though. or fowl jive.

anyways. i'm totally digging the synths and the drums. and what is that at 2:23? nice touch. i like how you worked in the stuff and crap. overall nice arrangement. best orchestral arrangement i've ever heard. god i love that distorted bass. i love that DnB! when the song started picking up again at 4:19 i thought i was listening to DJ Megamansonic for a second. the dancy bits around 5:27 are awesome too. ps: i didn't know you played guitar!

I particularly liked the guitar stuff that was going on up until 0:40. (Though it was still great all the way through!) Everything is really well produced. Actually, by coincidence, the song I'd listened to before this new one happened to be DJP's own "Castlevania 4 House Party". Quite the transition.

Excellent work! My desire to give in to EBay's high prices and own a Secret of Mana SNES cart has now increased furthur than I thought possible.

This mix makes me glad to be a Seiken Densetsu fangirl, and that I never ever sold my cart from the day I got it, which was about two-three weeks after it came out.

What can I say except WOW.
This really brings me back to my childhood.....well I didnt have a childhood more like a gamehood....but anyways. I loved the tune from the original game ever since I first heard it and now look, I had to become a member just to say WOW and BEAUTIFULLY DONE. This is the reason I got into working with music and musicians in the first place. Keep up the good work and I guess I will be hanging around here a lot from now on.

Awesome...It has been a long time since I've heard something that just made my mind flow with imagination on this site...no offense to any other well-done remixes.

I especially love the synths, the piano, and the very crisp and clear guitar that comes in near the beginning and end.

Excellent work. Bravo.

This is a great remix. It's very well done, and the instrumentation sounds magnificent. I was expecting an orchestral mix, but this went beyond what I was expecting. Good stuff.

Listening to it on my ipod...it's really well done. On my first listen, I didn't get to appreciate it as much because I put my speakers on low volume, but on the headphones it has a nice catchy feel to it.

When DJP does electronica/orchestral (okay, when doesn't he :P) you know the results will be good :) Some of the volume levels seemed a bit odd to me... the skipped notes in part of the melody did too (just cuz I was used to hearing it the other way). But the variation made up for that. I like the solo around 2:30ish though. Fade-out was a bit too long.
I think it coulda used a bit of extra production (which is usually your strong suit), but not bad :)

4 out of 5 nice works!

There's portions of this that are inspired by the score to The Piano, and I think of the overall style bearing some similarity to some of what GrayLightning's done, which is hopefully taken favorably.

I definitely can hear some similarity with my style and definitely reminds me of Nyman's The Piano score *a favorite of mine*. The original was always one of my favorite themes, I can say your arrangement definitely does justice to the original and more.

Exceptional technical work Dave. Love the tonal combinations in this mix. Production is stellar. I love the largeness and yet at the same time, intimacy of the mix (I'll have to ask you later about what reverb you used here ^_^). Enjoyable, sophisticated and definitely my favorite mix of yours.

Very good, in the style I've come to look forward to from DJP. This one's going in my playlist!

nice nice. I loved the SoM game too. Too bad my bro let his friend borrow the cartridge and then the guy moved away with it -_- that b@st@rd..but anyway. Yea, I love DJP's mixes and I love orchestrated stuff. Dang, haven't seen an SoM remix in a while, or maybe I just forgot, meh. Well I'm gettin off track again so I'll just end it here. Nice arrangement :P

Many instruments included here ,and makes a SoM remix of the title tune even more complex ..DJP seems to have had time enough to finish it off nicely.
Somehow this arrangement reminds me of Silent Hill 2 music mostly though :o

Wellmade and Recommended !

Everything from 2:31 on is so sweet it just makes we wanna cry.

It's a fact, djp, that I typically don't like your work. Akin to CotMM, I usually just don't agree with your style (production values, overall quality of work, etc are never in question).

This, however, is a fantastic mix. It may be your best work.

Excellent work!!!! It gets a lot better as it progresses (the very beginning is pretty kickass, too, though). The sounds and production are awesome. Great stuff. I like the sound of EWQLSO's brass. I may just have to get a version of it sometime in the future.

While the style isn't much to my liking, the melodic arrangement and use of instruments is very well done. Nice work! :)

This is my favorite work from you easy. It is flawless in my opinion and the style is so smooth. This takes the title music to another level. Love the piano work. A++++

Ah... this mix brings my ears great delight. A real treat from the man himself, djp. I loved the piano, and the guitar harmony. It really added to the hybrid of the mix. Well done, and highly reccomended.

Honestly, I didn't like the first :45 seconds. But as the orchestra picked up and the piano came in, it started flowing. 2:09 is amazing!! Hmm... that wishy washy tidal sound effect really bogged it up for me.. too staticy.

Overall though, I agree, this is in the top of all your mixes. The liberties taken in adding some freestyle worked perfectly. Majestic, enlightening, and fit the theme as it should have been done long ago.

DJP, this is amazing - it is instantly one of my favorite remixes I have heard on OCR. You've given McVaffe a run for his money! Excellent work, I'm glad you were able to find time to work on this masterpiece. It's obvious that you enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you.

not my type of song for some reason. Dont like it to much, but you can take this from it, the strings are very good, very smooth. and the piano is ub3r relaxing. just not my style.

It's songs like this that show that music does indeed evolve. I would personally put this down as one of the OCR greats.

As has been mentioned, nice piano (and transition) at 3:33 :) Makes me think of Hollow Bastion in Kingdom Hearts. And that weird thing at 1:40 that lasts for like two seconds - I don't know what it is, but I like it.

Omg I didnt expect a track to top my favourite remix "Pachelbels Ganon" anytime soon but it happened.
Maybe because I love Secret of Mana, maybe bcause SoM has the best title theme ever or maybe its just because the remix is done by my favourite remixer. :)

The shift at 3:33 and the last part are so wonderful, would have been sad if djpretzel hadnt included it!

of course not having ready the reviews,

im posting... so a lot of what Im about to say probably has been said already...

absolutely captivating Is this peice.

The song flows very nicely from one segment to the next with intamate detail towards all the individual instruments.
Especially around 3:12 does this peice express itself in a very sexy fashion.

I never got into the secret of mana... maybe i should holy crap I like this mix.

Oh. My. God.

Amazing work. As soon as I recognize the beat from SoM I get goosebumps. This song just flowed incredibly well . I didn't think it could get any better... then 2:09 happened. Goosebumps back!

VERY well done djpretzel.

Hm, the tidal elements to this song does much to alleviate this weary heart...I hate having to face past fears/wrongs and attempt to recify them.

Anyway, this song is very good at carrying the melody through various interpretations, while maintaining a steady rhythm and beat, giving a feel of meshing through various phases of life. The first section set the pacing of the song, the trippy element to it. It started simple, and gradually got bolder. At 2:08, it started to show its celtic influences at an attempt to lighten the mood, helping to maintain that trippy feel to the song. Towards the end, it starts to crescendo with orchestration with a sense of something greater out in the horizon.

I must say that I'm new to the OC Remix, but I'm impressed by what I've heard so far. All mixers keep up the good work.

As for this mix, I fell in love with this song as soon as I heard it. It now has a permanent home in my playlist.

I was especially impressed at about 0:23 into the song. I played this song for a close friend of mine and she loved the song too. I hope to hear more like this from you djpretzel.

No less than a 9/10 in my book.

Ah ha! I knew this was djpretzel's work around the 1:27 mark... reminds me of the gloomy Lunar piece he did. I really enjoy listening to this one; it's a unique hybrid of styles and I adore the string/ocean wave solo around 2:09. I heard this song by chance on ormgas moments after some very disappointing news was made clear to me and this song reflected exactly how I felt.

So crisp and bittersweet, tumultuous at times. I find this to be a very inspiring and well-layered remix. On the top of my playlist, for sure.

This was pretty damn good I have to say. I've always been a Secret of Mana fan, but I love this remix just as a song...melancholy, yet still energetic...I love it.

Another beautiful, emotional piece from djp

Inspirational piano playing, very soothing strings

once again, awesome mix djp!

This is outstanding, djp. I always appreciate "Orchestronic/Electrestral" music... whichever you prefer to call it.

This has that power to it that seemed to be conveyed in the original, only with a little bit more... force?

Oh. My. God. [2:09]... that is a beautiful violin, sir. Clear, emotional, powerful, independent, yet supportive. I love violins, and you have placed one perfectly. Awesome.

This is, once again, excellent, sir. Awesome job.

I've been becoming slowly suspicious lately that the stuff I hear at OCRemix is actually significantly better quality than anything else you can hear in the charts, or in fact just about anywhere these days. This track confirms my suspicion. All I can say is we have a very odd distribution of talent and success in today's world, musically speaking.

I most definately started listening to this with high expectations. I mean, it is DJP. And you know what? They were more than exceeded. I loved the general blend of instruments (though I play guitar, I think that if you use them right, string sections are absolutely amazing) and the ambience of the song was amazing.
If I could do one thing to this, I would add maybe the sound of ocean waves to the background in the beginning, and occasionally brought it back out within the mix. Then again, I also want to do a track over highway noise.

Already done.

I concur with everyone, this is symphonical master-piece. The way it begins you think that a funky techno beat will follow this track to the end, but I don't think that it cannot be more wrong than that. The piano and strings enters almost at the same time, and essences like guitar and violin caught me off-guard.

To see how this arrangement changes from the beginning seconds to the middle and the end, while always having a beautiful tone to it, it fills me with ave. This deserves some more listens later today. Those who haven't listened to this really should, it's one of the many proofs why Djpretzel is the one running this site.

Easily my most listened to song ever, and that's saying something.
I cannot express my love for this mix in text.

Thanks again DJP.

Overly familiar source melodies are in no better hands than The Pretzel's Hands.
There is a very satisfying combination here of elements that shouldn't gel but do, like the blending of contemplative moments with full-sounding orchestral support, as well as the more obvious clashing dynamics of the electronic and orchestral genres.
Classic rise and fall delivery, excellent arrangement; it's all pretty standard pretzel praise, I'm afraid. As I've come to expect, production is top-notch. The piano and the violin especially are put to stunning use, serving as standout points in an already rewarding, expertly crafted piece.

You know, I don't think I've heard a djpretzel mix yet that I haven't liked. Even though the source has been done to death and I thought I never wanted to hear it again, he managed to put a fresh spin on it and make it enjoyable to listen to. It's like every track he touches turns to gold.

Okay, I think I've fulfilled my lavish praise quota for today.

Wow, I can't believe I haven't heard this one yet. I'm pretty familiar with the source and this is a pretty cool take on it. What I really like about this is how it doesn't stay in one place; the intro has vaguely Asiatic groove/feel to it before alternating to a more piano centric section. There's also a comfortably weighty atmosphere throughout this mix. Truly awesome and a must download.

Pretty subdued stuff, I like the wah effect and the string beds underneath the different layers of texture. Overall pretty good background music. Nice and pleasant. :-)

There's plenty of stuff I got from OCR that I enjoy listening to. This is one of the ones I think about and will listen to by itself when I wasn't listening to music otherwise at all. Love the mood and the variation from the original theme.

I really like the pacing and soundscape here; it feels like the aural equivalent of someone taking a lot of time to really sculpt waves out of marble. It's that well defined to me. It also has some really cool eastern ethnic overtones that just seem to glue everything in this mix together. This is one of my favorite mixes on the site and is on my playlist that I listen to as I go to sleep.
