It looks good this time around. What's next, writing Chrono Symphonic on it?
Yea, and after that seeing if I can throw some of my PS talent in there to make it look different and not just straight sprite and background.
To answer DarkeSwords question its for anyone in the project that wants to advertise it with an image in thier sig. Kinda like yours, but for this.

REMIXERS
I posted at the Gamefaqs Trigger board. The following users there wish to send you their encouragement and appreciation for remixing Chrono Trigger music in an orchestral format:
lordjanus "I'm all for it!"
dragonmaster1702 "i would love to hear that."
rusty404 "yes"
guinness42 "i would like to see it complete!"
Cliftor "Their names will live in memory forever if they finish."
Bobwillis "signed"
FFCrono "signed"
Lord J Esq "While I think that orchestrating Chrono Trigger music ought to be its own motivation for any sane-minded person, I nevertheless most assuredly and completely do encourage this wholeheartedly."
And many more are looking forward to this, so know that you are not alone. We adore your efforts and hope you'll continue remixing. Viva la CHRONO

I've got a complete(?) version of Inciting Incident done and I'm working on a complete(?) version of the Magus Battle now. Unfortunately, my family made some changes to the wireless network in our house and we're having problems getting my computer to cooperate. Hopefully we'll have it working soon so I can upload my progress for feedback. I'll just keep in touch with my parent's computer in the meantime.
SirRus and ellywu2: I've been holding off on our collab tracks for two reasons. First, to finish my other two. Second, because I'm interested in hearing what you guys have in mind for the remixes first. If you would rather I just go ahead and start them, let me know.
Merry Christmas to all, etc...

Meteor Cross "Signed!"
GameMasterMax "Why the heck not, i say!"
alpha door "*signs*"
Wings of Time "I'm all for this Chrono Trigger symphony. I like the idea, and I've always been fond of orchestral music. Go for it!
Consider yourself SIGNED by me. ^_^
Good luck."

Where in the game was signing mountain supposed to go? I always wondered about that. And thay Tricera looks like a copy of the boss that ate bombs in LOZ. I can see why they cut it.

WHATS UP.
Here is Zeal WIP action, started it last night and got all 2:30 of the arrangement done (I sure wish the song was in the movie for longer than just 2.5 minutes...), its still pretty meh in a lot of areas, so hopefully this will get to sounding better by the time Claado gets back. Just thought I'd post it in here in case anyone was interested. http://students.ou.edu/S/Ravi.U.Sharma-1/SirRus_-_Zeal-01.mp3
I also wanted to thank Zeality for keeping the thread alive and compiling the comments of supporters of the project. Good deal man.

Any props or thanks to me is hugely returned for a Zeal remix. I've been collecting them for ages, and while many people claim "OMG ITZ OVERREMIXED," each new arrangement brings its own interpretation and flavor to the table. Your style is great; I liked the overall build to the main meat of the song. It was heavenly and enlightened, and straightforward.
Alright, I'm not the best reviewer for Zeal remixes, since my experiences are largely personal, but there it is. 46 Zeal remixes and counting.

So as promised, the final (?) versions of two tracks.
Inciting Incident (http://www.finalfantasy7.info/inciting_incident.mp3)
nothing really new, just slight, indistinguishable touch-ups.
Confronting the Mystic (http://www.finalfantasy7.info/mystic.mp3)
Mastered and witha new section. Not 100% sure about that section though, so feedback would be appreciated.
Any feedback would be nice for either of these. Orchestration is far from my specialty, so anything you guys think needs to be changed before I call these DONE, please share now.

My commentary probably isn't of much worth since my musical background and criticism is limited to more sensory and feely stuff rather than hard "1:08 is out of key; EQ this," but I'll offer mine for Confronting the Mystic.
I like the multilayered quality of the song. At 0:58, when it begins the second iteration of that popular riff, is there any other instrument the riff could be rendered in? I've been thinking that it would sound fresh and even more kick/badass if a different strings instrument was used, since we've already heard that part of the theme done once with that instrumentation. I'm not educated though, so this might be an impossibility; merely a suggestion.
For reference, here's the Brink of Time version:
http://www.herograw.com/ocremix/Zeality/Chrono%20Trigger%20--%20Brink%20of%20Time%20--%20Track%2004%20-%20Warlock%20Battle.mp3
It's mostly Bondish stylish and laid back, but imagining the Magus riff done with an edgy guitar is cool; not sure if Claado restricts against it.

This might be a silly question - is there a project website for this? I briefly skimmed the posts here, and haven't found anything.
I recently checked my private messages on OCRemix, and I've got a PM from a user named Claado Shou... dated Oct 28, 2004... Needless to say, I never really come here. He asked if I was interested in doing the site for the project.
But, if there isn't a site already done, I could probably give it a go. I can normally be found in #ocremix, if anyone's interested. Or hell, send me a pm, and I'll get back to you in three months...

hi guys, sorry to say but i haven't been working on anything since a long time ago lol... the remix i submitted didn't make the cut because several mastering problems... i could've mastered it and resubmitted and it would've made the cut but i'm a dumbass and deleted the arrangement a long time ago lol... the good thing is i just started redoing the whole thing, which i planned to do in the future anyway, and i decided i'm going to make it all orchestral-like  and maybe i can use my remix for scene 10 too since it kinda fits the scene (Denadoro Mountain's song is Underground Sewer for some reason :P )
i restarted it today and worked on it for like five hours but now it's two in the morning so i'm gonna sleep hehe... i got done with like 1/3'rd of it and i think it kicks ass, like ten times better then what i did before :) i'll probably finish it (well not FINISH but yeah whatever) by monday if not tomorrow and i'll post it here so you guys can listen and gimee some comments and stuff...
how is everyone else doing on their remixes? just wondering... looks like not a lot of activity on this thread hehe... oh well ttyl guys, good night... err morning... errr whatever... :P

http://www.vgmix.com/song_view.php?song_id=3218
Tell me what you guys think. It's covering the End of Time theme.
As for the banner, I'd prefer something that looks less obnoxious while orchestrally oriented and simplistic. For example an angled view of a grandfather clock in the shadows, with a white, crisp, plain, and bold times new roman carrying the title.

I enjoyed the composition; it gave the impression of a strange, mystic ride into the End of Time, where we were confronted with the usual melody. The final part, in which it began to pick up, was becoming very interesting; I could easily imagine this as a score to a variety of scenes. No criticism at the moment.

Can you say exactly what you dont like about it? I dont mind the critisicm(sp?) but what you said is hard to improve on. If no one like this one, I could make another one, but Claado liked the idea I had for it. But either way I'll wait for more people to comment before doing anything more.

Just the firey text and the sprites. Personal opinion: I wouldn't really prefer sprites on an orchestral CD's cover, because I feel it takes away from the feel of professionalism.

In general I think a minimalist approach might be best. For example, the Kong in Koncert thing? Simple banana peel on reflective surface. Basic and straighforward. I don't want to get too deeply involved in this side of things, just offering two cents. Disregard if you like.

Just as a neat bit of information, Singing Mountain's background has been revealed by Yasunori Mitsuda (in English). Though it was previously available on Procyon-Studio's Q&A page in Japanese, it's finally been translated.
Yasunori Mitsuda was asked about the song's original intent at [http://www.procyon-studio.com/special/qa_2003b.html Procyon-Studio]; the question and response:
(This is slightly paraphrased because the Japanese is a little more redundant than is grammatically acceptable in English.)
About the not-yet-recorded Chrono Trigger song "Singing Mountain", it's really too bad it didn't make it into the game. Was the song for an event at Death Mountain after Crono dies? Was it planned to insert the song when going to the mountain to revive Crono? Why was it rejected? It's a very good song (I'd really love to hear it with live instruments and vocals). Also, the prelude to Frog's Theme wasn't included, but it was on the CD. Why was it in the CD, but not in the game?
(From Mitsuda himself)
There was a dungeon where that song was used, but because the dungeon didn't contain much and there were no problems or anything that advanced the game, it was cut. So inevitably the song was cut with it (*sniffle*). About Frog's Theme, because the prelude was meant to rise up during an event, the song starts out partway through, but since we took great pains with the CD it started from the prelude there.
''Thanks to JLukas for finding this and Arc Impulse for translating it.''

The WIP is awesome, dude. I especially love the twist it takes near the end with the percussion and such. Very tight. The only thing I could find to complain about are the woodwinds in the beginning maybe being SLIGHTLY too loud, but that may not really be worth fretting over. I love the interpretation so far. Can't wait til it's finished. This WIP is reminding me how downright awesome this project will be once completed. :)

Seph I'd up your master volume, cuz whenever I listen to your song at the correct volume and someone IM's me it scares me to death.
Your guys' arrangement is awessome. It all gives me a nostalgic feeling, and makes me want to play Chrono Trigger again. I love your woodwinds. The only gripe I have is the redundant low attacks of the legato strings. Try to connect those notes a little more and the song will flow MUCH better. In my opinion, at least.
Good stuff peoples.

hey thanks for the feedback on morning sunlight fellas, and yeah seph the master volume scares me on this song... we'll have to fix that.
Emperor (or sleepy emp now I guess) I love how dramatic and emotional your songs are, your latest WIP rocks!
Ellywu, nice start buddy, good flow to it so far, keep developing on what you have and it should turn out magnificent. Weird that the main theme you're doing is schala and yet there is so much "Day the World Revived" but I love the transition, and those drums albeit slightly offputting at first add to the emotional impact. I would say your transition is nearly as flawless as mv's in Foray To Eastern Horizons... amazing man.
Oyeah Bliz I'll just post in your WIP thread so go thurr for my thoughts on your latest wip. Love the new sig btw.

Claado Shou
02-11-2005, 11:41 PM
Alright, people. This is not ZeaLitY. This is the actual Claado, and he is pleased.
Yes, Boot Camp sucked. Yes, I just graduated today. Yes, I'm posting this from an Internet Center in some mall just outside Chicago. And yes, this will be the only post I can make in the next week or so, until I have something set up in South Carolina, where I plan to make my home for the next year or two.
But yeah, enough about me. I want to put Basic Training behind me and move onto other things...things like Chrono Symphonic.
I'm loving what I'm hearing. It's a bit strange to see what's happened to something I put so much effort into before, realizing that it's moved forward without me. But no longer.
The basic plan of action in the next few weeks and months to come is simple, as long as nothing comes along to complicate it. I plan to drastically revise certain aspects of the script (dialogue, some of the minor actions, perhaps addition of scenes and maybe even small-part characters) to better adjust to what the music is now saying. It's pretty obvious that you can't expect the music to meet the text and then not have the text return the favor. So...edits are on the way, when time permits.
The second part of the basic plan is a continuing support, critique, and creation of the music that is being put forth. That doesn't seem to be making itself a problem, however...from what my ears are detecting, it's very obvious that the people involved here are capable of making decisions for themselves. Of course, overseeing is still necessary, and when the opportunity arises for me to resume that position, I will.
The third and final part of the plan involves the creation and maintenance of some auxiliary aspects of the project. File databases, banners, CD covers, website layouts, bandwidth security, etc. Music and words alone make not a project great...this thing will have to have some serious downloadability (not a word, I know) and some serious visual accompaniments if we plan to get everything up to par with other site projects OCReMix has previously encountered.
I'm glad to see that the GameFaqs community is so supportive of what's going on, and I'm thrilled to hear some interest from people with something to add to the project, namely Eon_Blue, whose coding skills would be a magnificent aid.
But what I'd like to make the point of most is how amazing it is to see a group of people bound only by their loves of music and Chrono Trigger pull together from something as expansive as this entire, spanning server full of remixers and pull off a product like this. With this much talent going forth into the project, I'm positive beyond any doubt that sometime in the near future, Chrono Symphonic will be on the forefront of the CT universe, finding its way diligently into legend, and all of us with it.
That said, congratulations, thank you, and I'll see you peeps in a week (or thereabouts). Cya.

If I might make one suggestion though: I think the To Far Away Times WIP could use more to it. It has the main stuff in piano, but I think it could use a constant beat as heard in the background of the original track, and then at points have another instrument join for the main theme for very brief interludes (example: 1:30-1:40), just to add a little more orhcestration to it. The original track is beautiful, but none of the remixes/orchestrations I've heard have been able to match it yet because they over-simplify it.
Just a sugggestion.

The vocals are good and all, but I don't know if they should be actually singing. Since this is a movie soundtrack, I don't know. I mean if it were for credits it would be fine, but I think it's up to Claado to decide whether to keep them in or not.

Great stuff. Overall, the To Far Away Times piano WIP is my favorite. It really derives its power from its simplicity.

That makes me think I downloaded an earlier version, as there weren't any vocals in the one I heard.

Major update, comrades:
To Lands Unknown (http://vgmix.com/download?2731)
(Track 8 - A Strange Happening. Crono and Marle use the teleporter for the first time)
This sounds great!! BUT, I think there's waaaay too much reverb on the mix, and way too much mid range. I'd love to mess around with the mix if you've got a completely dry version of it.

I updated my WIP, time wise. I didn't do any mastering yet. I have been going through musician's block, until I thought about the script more. I found a way to extend the time of my track by covering the different themes of each time period, sort of as if the old sleepy man is describing Crono and his gang about where each of the portals lead.

Totally upgraded sound quality of the song. Never added anything lengthwise yet. The intro sucks I will fix it. Heavily EQ'd and each instrument I individually went through reverbing. There is too much reverb in some parts so I shall fix that. So yeah, check out the updated version here:

Yes! Finally, regular internet access, my own room, my own phone, and some music to listen to!
I've listened to all of the new/updated pieces, and though it is a bit disappointing, after almost three months of available remixing time has passed, to see only a few additions to the plethora of music already created for this project, I am nonetheless very happy to see progress has been made, and good progress at that. I think the overall feel of epic-ness has been masterfully achieved, one mixer at a time, one mix at a time. I don't intend for this to be a very short process, and quality is key - it seems we've established that.
That said, I don't intend for this to be an incredibly lengthy endeavor either. My max time limit before I hit the Fleet is around 16-20 months (depending on additional schooling - Naval Nuclear Power Training Command is a bitch), and though that is the MAXIMUM, I'd like for the actual mixing to be done much sooner...somewhere in the 6-8 month mark, preferably. 4-6 is good as well, but...we'll see.
Anyway, as I said, schooling is a bitch, so my free time (roughly -4 hours a day, which cuts into my sleep time) will be only on the weekends. Errands/studying/school will be my life during the week, and as a result, Friday evening to Sunday morning will be my only window for anything related to Chrono Symphonic. Sadly, my life in the Navy will be rather stressful the next few years. However, the money and education make up for it.
My first plan of action (this weekend) is to reconnect with everybody that is related to this project. PR is a big step towards getting this back together around a singular goal, and focusing the now-defunct inspiration for this project back on music. Also, I want to try and organize some new efforts (such as website layout/structuring and database construction) in order to better accent the music, since this is going to be more than just an album by the time we're done. It's going to be a movement.
My second plan of action, as the weeks pass, is to address the script. With nearly four or five months of no access to the script, many things will change, all for the better. Hopefully. I'll minimize the change this makes to the music's input, and since the music has now influenced my own perception of the movie, believe me...the script will better reflect the soundtrack accompanying it.
So, yeah. Everybody involved, expect some sort of communication in the next few days. To all of the mixers that have continued to put forth effort into the project, even while I was incapacitated in Great Lakes, IL, I thank you beyond all measure of appreciation. You have helped defend the reliable nature of all OCReMixers and helped this project forward through dark times. Congratulations.
With all of these things said, please feel free to post and contact me even when I may not be looking. The weekend is a long time during which I can do many things. And every person counts. So for now, I bid you adieu and goodbye.

Alright, every mixer (except Rellik, since I IMed him) has been sent a PM about the project's direction, and you should all check out the front page as well. It has some new info, and other cool stuff like that as well.
So please, once again, continue working. Update, update, update. Fifty posts about one song's progress is better than no posts until it's done. You're leaving your fellow mixers in the dark, and that's just being unkind.
Also, my next priority is to get free hosting, so I'm off to see the Google, the wonderful Google of Oz. Or something.

Wow, Mr. Wu. This is...amazing. Beyond perfect. In fact, the product you have right now, despite being 2:00 under the time roof, is absolutely perfect for the scene. And I'll tell you why.
There are several points in your song (2, really) where I envision the song cutting off and then picking up several moments later, where no music fills the scene at all. PLUS, I think I may have miscalculated the time a bit, since most of the scene is fast-passing dialogue, and it just sounds so complete and perfected the way it is right now that I'm afraid you accenting it or extending it will ruin it.
So, if you so desire (which I hope you do), consider your song finished. I will update accordingly.
Also, would you please re-render the song without any lyrics and put it up somewhere online so that I can hear what the in-movie version would be like? It would be very helpful. Kthnx.

I know I've mentioned this before, but are we going to try to get this thread moved to the Site Projects forum? We wouldn't have to keep bumping it and it kinda seems to belong there anyway...
Claado Shou
03-09-2005, 01:24 AM
Before I address sephfire's questions, let me say this...
I posted this last night, but considering the occurrences of March the 7th, the message was erased, and I don't particularly have time to rewrite the entire thing. So, here's the bad news:
Unknown is off the project.
Many reasons were cited, some of which were lack of inspiration, lack of time, and a general disinterest in the project. He did, however, say that he had confidence that this team of fine mixers would be able to take up the slack and probably accomplish his song better than he could have himself, a high compliment from a famous name. So consider yourselves stronger for this, and not weakened...Unknown may be gone, but we all remain.
Onto sephfire's question...it has always been my intention to get this moved to the Site Projects forum once we have a website and some hosting space, so that instead of posting dozens of different web addresses for song links, they can all be downloaded off of a single site, and so we can also have something to show for the title "OCR Site Project". I take that distinction very seriously, and once I think we deserve it, I'll renew my request to be moved to that forum. Believe me, it will all come in due time.
Anyway...I have to go sleep (goddamn you, night study watch!) so I shall biddeth thee good night. And remember that this is a team effort as well...though I consider it my responsibility to procure webspace and do the initial design, some pointers in the right direction would be nice. Know of some free space with unlimited bandwidth and unlimited filespace that will actually host MP3s? Please drop me a line. The help will be appreciated, trust me.

Hm...no posts for four days...this seems very strange...
Anyway, I have a few things to put out there for everyone. As you all know from the topic already made about it, Chrono Trigger turned 10 years old only yesterday, which makes the year 2005 the 10th anniversary. This may not seem like a big deal to everyone here, but I think it would be phenomenally rewarding to a majority of the Chrono Trigger fanbase out there to receive something so substantial - the movie soundtrack to their favorite game, just in time to celebrate an occasion of this size.
We already have 51% of the game done, as you all know, and if we can get the rest done within a reaosnable amount of time, we're well on our way to giving CT a great birthday present.
Also, you have all certainly seen the third and newest Site Project be released, Hedgehog Heaven. Though there are bound to be many, many Sonic fans in the audience, including some of the people that participated on the project, I can tell you right now that the work displayed in Chrono Symphonic is much more impressive than what the completed whole of that project has.
This project is DESTINED to succeed. Pretty soon, we'll be the ones with our names on the front page, the ones getting all sorts of fan letters from unknown listeners, the ones whose works will cause a Slashdot effect and shut down the site for a day. That can - and WILL - be us, and very soon.
I've not had much luck or time finding anything that will host a site for free with the things we would need. Perhaps the best thing to do, and all we can do for now, is wait until the project has reached 75% or above in completion, and then ask DJPretzel for some hosting space. With its completion practically ensured, I'm positive he would consider the option.
For now, I think the best idea, to get every song into the same space, would be to submit them all to SoundClick under the band name "Chrono Symphonic", to allow for one page in which all songs would be available. It would only be temporary, and wouldn't have an interface or a design, but without webspace available...I'm afraid options are limited.
Also, what I'm about to do right now is start super-editing the script, while I have some free time. I'll let you know right now that I do intend to add one of the removed main characters, but in an altered form, so please don't read the new script expecting Ayla to come punching onto the scene or Robo to malfunction and save the group from a collapsing building. That type of comic-book stuff was removed for a reason...what I plan to add will be adhering to the feel that the CT movie has already established, a serious and epic persona. Just remember that as this new draft emerges in the near future.
Anyway...that's all I have. Edits must be made, and all that good stuff. So I shall say goodbye...
And happy (belated) birthday, Chrono Trigger!

So far, my only responses have come from Reuben Kee, Mr. Wu, mv, sephfire (as if it were a surprise), SirRus, and Unknown. I asked a mixer a short while ago about joining the project (FM, an incredibly talented orchestrator), and he is considering the task, so we may have a "replacement" (if you can call him/her that) for Unknown rather soon.
Otherwise...I've been having second thoughts about making this a Site Project, or rather, waiting to do so. At the moment, this is the only established project that ISN'T in that section of the site, and while that sets us apart, it also makes us much less visible, and it requires that we bump this thread constantly.
So, my question is, to all the mixers on this project: should I ask for this to be moved to the Site Projects forum forthwith? Please post your responses here, and I'll see what happens.
Anyway, school beckons, so...

Also, Mr. Wu, 5:00-5:30 would be awesome. The original was 6:30, but I've since decided to cut that down, so...5:00 would be fine. And Lavos' theme? That might be cool...let's see how it works out. Just remember that it slows down at the very end for when they go through the Gate, so...yeah.

Site Projects Request = Yes! It never hurt to ask... and honestly I would like to know the criteria we do not yet meet to get us moved in there. Wow, both of these are beautiful. I like them a lot. As far as cover art goes, I personally think the second one is best. I could picture the first one on the back with the track listing printed off to the side, seeing how it's goot all that open space. I dunno. Just an idea. Nice work. :nicework:

This is so freaking amazing. Interest in the project has just spiked tremendously.
I just got a response to an e-mail I sent off to Jillian Goldin (pixietricks, of the new OCRemix "Prayer") and she said she would love to do vocals for the soundtrack. Incredible.
I'm sorry if you guys don't know what I'm talking about, but once everything gets worked out with the piece, it will be beautiful. Just wait and see.
Oh, and thanks Global-Trance for getting excited. I'm glad you share the same enthusiasm I do.

My interest in this project has just gone from casual enthusiasm to unbearable anticipation. WOW, would that be awesome. Please, make that the OCR submission that gets posted along with the release of the project (the lead single in a sense), it would spark so much more interest for this.

My first attempt at cover art for this project. Though grungy, I was able to show a lot of the emotion in it through the mix up of complex and simple images with a soft color (which can be changed to anything I please) to give it a spark of life. If you look hard enough, you can see the Wings of Time that we all know and love. :D

My favorites thus far are Kanji's "pocketwatch" cover and Global's "betamix" cover. They provide great mood/atmosphere and they don't have any original Chrono Trigger artwork or character sprites blatantly shoved into them just to over-confirm what game we're remixing. They allude to CT in subtle ways without overdoing it.
I vote our cover art be one of these (or something like them). It's only my opinion, but I think they capture the essence of this project best (so far).
Thumbs up to both. I envy your skills. :D

Way to get a webhost that has really insanely obtrusive popups, and also has a banner ad for spyware (Gator). I'm sure you could find a better one.
Yeah, probably. But this is just temporary, so...once this is an actual Site Project (i.e. in the appropriate forums), then alternate space will be found.
Unless, of course, you happen to have something on-hand...
Well, I'd be happy to lend some space to host any files you gave me, minus the mp3s which I see are already hosted elsewhere anyway (I have a limit of about 80 megs, and I typically use about half of it myself). But it'd be at www3.hmc.edu/~afield/<foldername>, unless you know of some way to hide a redirect to something easier. Also I don't have any way to give you access to it yourself, you'd have to zip up your update and send it my way, and I could put the update up. But if you want it, I've got it.

Hmmmmmm...it seems sort of strange having a guy wearing a backpack and sneakers on the cover of a Chrono Trigger remix album. I dunno...maybe something slightly more related to the Middle Ages or the Chrono universe?
Also, the green tint may not be the best color. Perhaps you could try it in some sort of blue/violet, perhaps a mixture. Try it out and see if it looks any better.
Otherwise, it's incredible. Complex, and yet everything is connected. And the Epoch thing is really cool, too. Nice job. The logo is just plain badass.

Ah. I'm tweaking it as we speak. It was just a quick sample of what my style of cover art is... anything on there is easy to edit. As for the guy sitting there... well... that represents my view of the connection between us and Chrono Trigger. The guy (represents us... modern day) looking back on the Wings of Time flying by (our past/memories)... but yea... I can get deep with this stuff lol. I'll just play with the color, because right now that guy connects with the Epoch and vice versa.

Yeah, that was the idea. Selling it isn't legal, so...just like every other OCR Site Project, just put it up for download. Plus all the CD covers, CD jewel cases, etc. etc.
As for the "additional" songs, they were audition pieces for the project that didn't get accepted for the Title Theme position (sephfire won that) but they were just too good to be wasted, so...there they are.

I agree, lens flares are pretty crappy. That was supposed to simulate the sun rising over the edge of the planet or whatever. I guess I could just blur the hell out of it so you can't really see the definition like that.
Actually, some of the larger stars are mini lens flares.
I also had to make sure that it didn't look like earth. I was tempted to use an actual satellite texture from earth while in photoshop with the planet. I ended up settling on venus, I think it was, then throwing a layer of cloud over it. I didn't get the serious definition between land and sea I was hoping for, but I also didn't want to get any closer to the planet.
*Edit*
I blurred the lens flare a little bit, added the frame, sharpened the planet surface a little...
Right now, half the image is done in Photoshop, the other half in Paint Shop Pro. If there's anything really major to be done (positioning of the planet, for example) I'll be firing up photoshop for that. Minor things like the text, etc, is handled in Paint Shop Pro.

Actually, I think the kid in the backpack and sneaks works pretty well. I recall the end of Chrono Cross, when Kid was standing in traffic or whatever. Wasn't that live action with some cosplay chick or something?
And in one of the endings of Chrono Trigger, the ship was cruising above all the different time periods. I was instantly reminded of that when I saw this cover - this kid is likely sitting there minding his own business when the fucking Epoch blows by overhead.
The only thing I didn't like is that you can't really see it too well. I didn't even realize it was there until Claado pointed it out - until then, I was wondering what the kid was all about too.
And yeah, the steel blue works way better. Maybe even colorize it a little more towards gray.

I hope to have something that loosely resembles a website before Monday of next week. Work's been busy as hell lately, and I end up staying a few hours after quitting time to finish up a few things.
To be honest, I was blown away when I heard some of the tracks on this album - let's keep the ball rolling on this.
I'll be hosting a wip of the site at therighteous, and posting the link here when I've got something interesting. The cover thing was a kind of unexpected - I wasn't even asked to do one. So if it's not up to par or whatever, maybe I can incorporate some elements of it into the website - or maybe some of those sig banners or something.
Ideas? Anything that you'd like to see available on the site? There's pretty much nothing we can offer that Zeality's condompenisum can't, but if it relates to the project, at least we can make it readily available. I thought the idea of the wallpapers for the project were pretty good - maybe some others could come up with some stuff?

Hm...I had no idea that you were so interested in going forward with the project, Eon_Blue. But I'm glad that you are.
As for the webspace thing, you might want to use http://www.freewebs.com/chronosymphonic as the one you port to new space, instead of the old one...this one has better everything (pixietricks did the design layout for it, BTW).
Also, I've "employed" Global-Trance to do a website banner, so I'd like to keep that option open, for his banner to be on the front page. Just letting you know about that before you go ahead and spend a lot of extra time making one.
Otherwise, thank you so much for putting forth effort that I didn't even ask you to do (well, a few months ago, but still...).
As for additional stuff, I'd like to have a "Project Files" page that contains the script, outline, and OST listing, plus it could also include the pictures that everyone has made thus far.
I wanted to make a History page for the project after it's all completed, as well as a copy of this entire thread in text, for archive purposes...make this website the real deal, a total compilation. I still need remixer bios, but I think that can wait for awhile, or as long they want to wait before giving them to me.
Otherwise, nothing much I can think of now. Thanks for doing this, Eon_Blue...and for the rest of you Chrono Symphonic fans, you will soon have actual vocals in your song(s). I promise you that. :)

A banner would be an excellent idea. The only problem is that the layout I used in freewebs is one of the predesigned templates. It lets you add a logo (I used that treble clef above the navigation bar), but it won't let you change the title. The only way you could get the banner in there would be to put it at the top of the template, like where I inserted that Chrono pic. :/

OK well I saw everyone else having photoshop fun so I decided to have some fun of my own. Its very early WIP, but let me know what you think.

The capital R out of nowhere I think should be lowercase... also... anti-alias your text a bit... smooth it out and it'll look nicer. Digging the Japan thing in the background.

Updated the logo. I like this one better than that scribble writing one. And I prefer having it in the middle of the scene.
See...now THAT is amazing cover art. The other one was a good track listing cover, but this one deserves to be on the front of an album.
I'm thinking this is all too good to have one selection...perhaps we can have multiple choices for download (a la Hedgehog Heaven)?

Awesome. I'd like to fix up the starfield a little bit - I'm pleased with the way it turned out, but it looks to be the least realistic. That, and the shading of the planet.
Fortunately, I've still got the source images for it, I can pretty much mess around with it all I want. Hell, or even start from scratch again.
I'm still kicking myself in the ass for not jumping on this boat much sooner. I've been busy as hell with work - I likely could have had something done before now, had I gotten into it earlier. Obviously.
Still, anyone have any suggestions for it?

DANG. Now that's just jaw-dropping. That earth looks incredible. Excellent concept.
I'd hate to nitpick on anything, seeing as the best thing I can draw is in the stick figure realm. But, I think this piece, although it looks awesome, is a little linear? Kinda looks a little 2 dimensional, at least as to how outer space is concerned. Im no artist by any means, but try spacing out the stars a little bit, just kinda seems a jumble to me. Maybe might help with creating a little more depth, too. Maybe adding colors to the stars, too, there are red and blue stars as well.
Also, never hurts to move the title off center, too...but, that's just me talking, I dunno if that would throw it off or anything.

I agree on the color part. Some red blue and maybe even orangeness would really make the cover look more awesome.

Go to the filehost (http://symphonic.herograw.com) and click on the "Project Files" folder. It'll be in there under the label "CT Movie Script", along with the script outline (if you care for a shorter version).
Sorry I haven't gotten around to doing edits - this weekend (especially) and the next one will be rather free, so I'll be able to get some stuff done. Hopefully.
Also, I'll sign you up, FM. Thanks again for accepting my offer to join - I'll send you your script portion as soon as I can.

Try centering the text within the clock - pretty much everything else draws your eye to the center (the circle, the white space), but then the text is off to the side.

So ... will EA be funding this project now or just shut us down? Maybe we should promise to put Madden in the cover art somewhere just in case.
Claado Shou
04-02-2005, 02:21 PM
Yeah...aside from that whole EA Remix thing...
We're still waiting for a few pieces to fall into place before announcing any work on vocals, but rest assured that very soon there will be something interesting to put forth.
Additionally, it's come to my attention that a good chunk of the mixers on this project - oh, around half of them - haven't responded to my message, and haven't checked in on the thread. Several haven't even finished the pieces they began, which are now rather ingrained as being part of the project lineup. So, I wanted to ask for some suggestions on a few potential options:
1) let the mixers get here on their own free time;
2) set a deadline for response/progress and then kick off those mixers that refuse to meet it; or
3) just chuck those pieces that haven't been worked on in a while and get new people with a fresh desire to make music take their places.
I'm personally looking at option #2, for a basis. Let me know what you think, everyone...this affects us all.

prolly #2. I've been ecstatic over this project, and it just hasn't been going over now.
However, if in #2 you mean to just kick off the mixers and take away their remixes, it will make the project short as hell. So, other people who would do it and set a DEADLINE!
Sinewav
04-02-2005, 03:29 PM
I like #2. Make it a deadline a while from now though. A lot of the mixers are probably busy with real-life deadlines, since it's nearing the end of the school year. I imagine that's why the project isn't seeing much progress right now. Best of luck to you guys.

Is there a possibility of this getting into the site projects forum?
1. In order to get into site projects forum (become a site project)
a. You must already be an established project. You must have your people. You must have your means. You must have your goals established.
b. But most of all, you must prove to a site projects mod that your project has what it takes. You have to convince us that your project has potential, that its not some harebrained half-hearted attempt at popularity and that you aren't some kinda ..non... realistic.. type.. person thing.
c. You must message a site mod. That would be me and Binnie for now. You must compile the aforementioned 1a and 1b into words and tell us why you want the thread and why you think your projects got the right ... what’s that stuff? Ah, yes. Stuff.
Let's ignore Protty's half assed attempt at what I'm certain he considers humor, and clarify:
Over 50% of the music is finished. All the tracks are accounted for. There are clear, established goals for the project, and the pace is moderate. I'm sure there isn't some Gantt chart somewhere outlining the project, but having half of the music portion done in 5 months is something of an achievement. It's pretty clear that this isn't one of those 'me too' projects that dies within the first week - like that stupid DKC project - where the hell is that crap now, huh?
2. We ain't through yet. Listen up big man. You gotta progress as well.
a. After getting on the site projects forum, your project must display reasonable growth and progress. Reasonable is an ambiguous word and will be defined specifically for the needs and situation of your project.
b. If your project does not have activity for a unreasonable amount of time, it will be moved back to General discussion where, inevitably, it will be lost in the abyss and fade like soldier in time.
c. If your project does in fact succeed (succeed being a reasonable success, yea, theres that word again) then it will remain here and belong to the ages like a great movie and live for all time in the honorable company of the great OCR.
So basically, the pace has to be maintained.
Has anyone tried submitting this to Prot or Digital_Crapa? At the very least, it'd keep it in an easily accessible area, and possibly in view of a more target audience.
Claado Shou
04-03-2005, 06:29 PM
Yes...a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, I submitted the project to Protricity, and he basically laughed it off. However, that was 2004, previous to my two-and-a-half-month hiatus, if you will, when it was still Chronicles of the Tesseract.
Well, now it's much bigger, much better, and actually has a website with some cool stuff (check it out if you haven't already), with every song hosted online in a single place. So the chances are good that it will be accepted into the forums...there's just the fact that the website is still under construction.
In fact, what I'll be doing this week is scrounging up information on each remixer from their websites, bios, etc. to make it seem more comprehensive. Then, I'll be writing additional descriptions for the remixes themselves, outlining what scene they cover and such. Hopefully by the weekend, we'll have some good stuff to flaunt to Binnie, and then maybe we'll be in business.
But for now, we wait...

Just a bump to note some new COMPENDIUM news BABY
Kirite, the joint venture between the legendary Chrono scorer Yasunori Mitsuda and the series visionary Masato Kato, is set for release in May. Keep in mind that it isn't Chrono series related. It may seem familiar, as Mitsuda announced it in an interview back in January when he also noted that a Chrono Cross Arranged Version is on the way in July. Accordingly, he's set up a site for Kirite on his procyon-studio page:
http://www.procyon-studio.com/sleighbells/kirite/index.html
It's in Japanese, so I still have no idea what Kirite is. It is also up for preording from CDJapan. I think I'll buy one for scanning purposes and later, translation. CDJapan.com seems to be more than capable of shipping to the United States. You can pre-order Kirite at:
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/(with_comments,mint,simple)/detailview.html?KEY=SBPS-8
Thanks to SleazyC for the links.

It would be interesting to see if an equivalent Chrono Cross project ever comes to light. Surely there is enough material in that game to create a great script and awesome remixes.
Claado Shou
04-07-2005, 01:43 AM
I might as well clarify this now...I have no intention to do this same project with Chrono Cross. Though Chrono Cross does have exceptional music, I believe that anyone interested enough in a Chrono Cross project would already be aware of Chrono Symphonic. Just the way I see it. Which is why if another project gets started, it will be with a separate game series. And since I've already made a promise, if at all, that series would be Zelda.
But enough about that. Apparently somebody at http://music.world-gaming.com/ saw the project and thought it interesting. Probably not a huge community over there, or even very popular, but some free publicity nonetheless.
Several things are still waiting to fall into place, so just you people wait. And check the website! If you haven't already, that is. :)

You asked us for bios ... do you have an example of what you want them to look like? I don't really know what to include in it ...
Currently reworking Morning Sunlight and Magus Battle. May be a while with school keeping me pinned, but it'll get done.
I know I'm not Binnie or Prot, but seeing as how Prot is banned from OCR and Binnie only comes on occasionally, I'm the only one (excluding full time mods - damn them) who has moderation powers in Site Projects. Now, I don't know if I have the authority to move a thread there, but I can consult the higher powers and see if I can get you guys moved to SP. You can PM me the stuff you would have to give to Prot in order to push towards the Site Projects and I'll take a look at it.
Claado Shou
04-09-2005, 07:08 PM
Sorry for not posting for so long...lots of stuff going on outside of the project, you know. Like school.
Anyway, to answer sephfire's question about bios, just have something really short and to the point...but make it in third-person and with your real name (which is already listed, BTW). For example:
"Andrew was born in Dover, DE, and then moved to Jacksonville, FL with his mother. He now resides in Goose Creek, SC, where he is a Sailor in the U.S. Navy and goes to school full-time to become a Nuclear-Power Machinist's Mate."
Thar yar. Something like that.
To respond to Mythril Nazgul, I greatly appreciate the offer to move to Site Projects, and in a week or so, we may be ready. But right now, it's just a little too premature. I know it's going to be a great move and all, but like I said to somebody else wishing to do the same thing, it's like offering to let a 12-year old play in the Major Leagues. There's still some growing to do.
However, when everything is in place, your offer will be most considerably taken up, if it still exists. Thank you again...and expect something rather interesting previous to the jump.

Niiiiiiice. This is sounding much better than the previous Denadoro track, that's for sure. I just have one issue with the harp that's being strung in the background...I think that if it were an octave or two lower, it would sound much better than it does now. Other than that, this is going to be very nice.
Oh, and I hope you don't mind, but the name "Wind" lacks a sort of cinematic name...for now, I'll just put it under the old title of "Denadoro Climb" and when you have another name you'd prefer, let me know.
