So welcome everyone - today marks the start of the project, open to all who are capable of executing Arek & my vision for a rearrangement project on the music of Lufia 1 & 2. We are looking for primarily rock/metal/electronic driven music, although we will consider other interpretations on a track & artist basis. Don't let our preferred genres for this project deter you from checking out the source material! There are still other tracks that we'll probably want outside of our primary focus.
The first deadline is August 19th for a rough WIP, with others listed in the project forums.
For the tracks, I will be using the names from the OST found here: http://vgmdb.net/album/3061
The OST tracklisting is a bit hard to parse out, but the first 35 tracks are from Lufia 1, and up to the end of Disc 2 is Lufia 2
Here are two Youtube playlists that can assist in finding the tracks:
Lufia 1: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=29D38A6582CF354E
Lufia 2: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=570FB2451D3BB65C
Here are some RSNs:
Lufia 1 - http://snesmusic.org/v2/profile.php?profile=set&selected=1541
Lufia 2 - http://snesmusic.org/v2/profile.php?profile=set&selected=1543
Here are the SPCs if you're having trouble with the RSNs like me:
Lufia 1 - http://www.zophar.net/music/spc/lufia-the-fortress-of-doom.html
Lufia 2 - http://www.zophar.net/music/spc/lufia-2-rise-of-the-sinistrals-estpolis-biography-i-.html
You can find SPC players here: http://snesmusic.org/v2/players.php or http://www.zophar.net/utilities/spc.html
Keep in mind that RSNs are compressed files - WinRAR can extract them.

Hello all!
Bahamut and I have been speaking for a while about this project and I am very happy to finally see it get started.
We will definitely be working hard to get the games a project that it deserves.
If you are interested in joining this, please do not hesitate to contact either Bahamut or myself.
Here is to seeing another great project made on this site :)

We had the discussion earlier, but personally I don't think you're ready to handle such a track adequately and have decided I absolutely cannot have it for the project. You're more than welcome to try the track for yourself though.

But yea, sorry bro. We talked about it and it seems not best for what we are looking for at this time.

I'm a huge fan of these OSTs, and I'd be interested in possibly joining. My usual style probably isn't as aggressive as you guys probably are looking for, but I have done more up beat stuff before.
I'm interested in 1-21 Gate of Journey (Door to the Journey) or 1-11 Ending Motif both from Lufia II. I'll send you samples if you want. Let me know.

Since there are two games that use the same theme, why don't you guys just have two people doing the theme.
Let Suzu do one, let Hemo and sixtoes do the other. There is like five second difference in the sources ha.
No really, that's like the best song out of Lufia ever, so why not have it done twice, you even have a good excuse to do it!

The problem it creates is that people will compare the two tracks, and it does the less popular one an injustice. I'd like to avoid that situation if possible.

Honestly I think Suzu and sixto/Hemo are all very talented, if they have a problem with comparisons, that's one thing, but if they don't (because people are going to compare whatever they want anyway) then it really shouldn't be a problem. To me it'd be apples and oranges.

That's McVaffe's own personal problem if he took any criticism negatively. There are loads of songs on this site that remix the same theme (Schala, Wily's Castle, Ice Cap, etc.) and I'm pretty sure most of the people who submit remixes of those themes are aware of that fact, and they should realize that listeners may draw comparisons to other remixes of the same song. Even if two songs are posted at separate times, there could be comparisons. It could happen even if it's not one of the popular tracks/games to remix.
I see no problem allowing remixes of the same track, if that's what the remixers want to do. The more the merrier, I say.

Definitely excited to see what people come up with for the Underwater theme in Lufia II. I like my Underwater mixes!
Then there are the obvious ones, Lufia II (and I assume 1, never played it) had very grand rock style combat themes, and I can only assume that the remixes of these will turn out nothing short of epic as well.
Parting is another favorite of mine, and I wonder if it would be possible to turn nothing into something and do a mix of the Inn jingle? Ok, that last one might be pushing it  .
In any case, good luck with the project guys, this will be a great one to look forward to for the next... while or so!

Funny you should say that - about an year ago, perhaps a little less, I was gauging interest in #ocremix on IRC for a Lufia 2 project (no Lufia 1 even) and I had trouble finding people who would be interested in such a project. I had already talked to Arek about wanting to do such a project sometime in the fall & asked for his assistance, but I wasn't sure whether it would take off with the disinterest I met.
Fast forward to now, I connected with more people in the community & noticed that some people were more than willing to do such a project such as Nekofrog (I remembered hearing an earlier version of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OT2LJTr_A6s ) and OA (http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01795/ ). Coupled with djp & his own Lufia 2 mix (http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR00300/ ), I figured that perhaps I could find enough interest and asked around again. I'm glad that I didn't give up hope on such a project, because I found quite more interest than I was expecting, so I quickly prepared this thread in an effort to have the project open rather than have people suspect us of having a pre-invite list & playing favorites, which wasn't the intention - I apologize to any who might've thought that was the case, as I did try to gather inquiries from a few people of possible interest before deciding to go forward with this with Arek.
It looks like the project is thriving now, and it's exciting to watch so many excellent remixers dedicate themselves to making some good Lufia mixes.

Hmm... one week to get a WIP done for this project. I might try something with the Tower from Lufia 2, so hang tight (I love the game too damn much to just completely ignore it :nicework:). I'm surprised it's not taken yet, to be honest. I'll try to have a (very) rough sketch for this before the deadline.

Nobody has taken it, so don't feel so constrained by the deadline, especially since you're not on board yet. If you do produce something though, just be sure you can meet the other deadlines though.

Well, she says it's because I don't caress her nipples enough when we're in bed together, but I think it's because I sneak up behind her while she's cooking breakfast, grab her breasts and shout "HONK! HONK!" too much. There must be a harmonious middle ground somewhere, and until I find it, she won't give me any lovin'.
So, that's why I can't get it in.

I was just reading the Album Projects guideline document because I was confused about something. It said threads get moved here when they are 75% completed and are bringing in final versions. Is this Lufia project really 75% completed? Because I thought it looked like there had been a lot claimed and a few WIPs turned in. Does the 75% completion just refer to the amount of claims you have on your tracks or does it count WIPs or final tracks?

Quite outdated - a large chunk of the project rules are outdated and needs rewriting, which probably won't happen until there's a significant shift in policy again. We've had some talks about it a week or so ago - for now there's no real change though except that in the end, the project has to meet a certain quality level (which shouldn't be a problem here) and that all of the mixers on board have to agree to the content policy.

The decision is solely with me - Arek has divested himself from the project as school has eaten up his time. Can you find a different guitarist though Mokram, like Fishy? No offense to Luke, but I want to see that he can handle his current load before I trust him with taking on everything in sight.
I will post more on the project later this week, probably this Friday. I have been going through a myriad of things, including being sick for two days and completely stopping my work.

More like on other projects period - I think I might've been too ambitious with deadlines originally. That will definitely change when I kickstart this in the fall close to when MR is out. I plan to have most stuff ready for MR in the summer sometime from the management end (excepting the tracks).

At least now the freezing status is official. Imho, the deadlines weren't that unrealistic to begin with.
But this makes you wish everyone was keen on finishing what they started before jumping on the novelty wagon.
I'll continue to provide updates as discussed in PM Bahamut.
Waiting till fall might make one loose momentum and inspiration, so I won't wait till there to finish this.
Plus, I'm prioritizing current-projects mixes before allowing myself to take on anything else.
On another note, I'd happily vouch for having Jade help with the Estopolis project. ;)

Hi. Thought I'd give it a shot. Lufia 2 is a great soundtrack and it's nice to see the possibility of an arranged soundtrack getting finished, even if it is way down the road. I'd like to contribute if possible!
I've made a track joining both the submarine theme (great depths of the sea) and the mermaid village theme as it seems no one has claimed this yet. My samples aren't great but I am just curious to see how I might make the piece a little slicker or whether it's worth messing with. I was planning on developing it, but I might hold off until I can update my samples.
