I'd give you a hand, OA, but you can't hear it from here, anyhow - nice job landing that position.

I trust you'll make a great judge, seeing as you took it upon yourself to give every single track on this site a decent review. Do that for the submissions and you'll be just pure gold, man :).

Woa, so does that make you 'The Wizard' of the judges? If so, you'd be even more awesome than you are now :<.

I lol'd at the prizes for that thing...

The top winner in each age category took home a $10,000 US Savings Bond, a new 1990 Geo Metro Convertible, a 40" rear-projection TV, and a trophy.

The other stuff isn't bad at all, but seriously - a Geo? Nintendo certainly has it's perks, but choice in cars isn't one of them.

You wanted to be a Nintendo Wizard eh? Well, it takes more than just saying. Take OA for example. Ever since he was a young boy, he played the nintendo. From Soho down to Brighton, he probably played it all. I ain't seen no-one like him in any amusement hall. That deaf, dumb, and blind kid sure plays a mean Nintendo.

He's a Nintendo Wizard, there's got to be a twist.
A Nintendo Wizard, he's got such a supple wrist...

Dafydd
08-13-2009, 03:43 PM
What's up with the panel anyway? Barely anything has happened in the last month or so.

What would be awesome is if you (the panel, not just you, OA) would finish voting on all the 17 mixes still in the queue, emptying the list completely, then refill the queue with ALL the mixes subbed since April 5. It'll be an impressively, depressingly long list, I'm sure.

OA
08-13-2009, 07:56 PM
There's a few new additions to the queue i haven't gotten to (i'll hit them all tonight), but most of them are some brutal splits (4Y/4N for one).

Right now things are a little slow because the Illustrious Mr. Tamer is getting situated with his great new job, and he controls the flow into the queue.

Dafydd
08-13-2009, 08:33 PM
Right, I heard about that. I still think it would be cool with a mega update of the "to be judged" queue once you've taken care of all the ones currently in it (unless it's so out of date all of the ones in there are already taken care of).

Brandon Strader
08-13-2009, 09:54 PM
Or they could eliminate the need for a submissions inspector and put some kind of upload form and have it update automatically. There'd probably be a lot of jokers uploading joke crap but if warnings were handed out, or short, temporary suspensions from being able to upload, I think it could work out.

Gario
08-13-2009, 10:02 PM
I don't see how that would really solve anything, Oinkness - all that would happen is that the 'TO BE JUDGED' section would be ridiculously huge. They'd still need to judge them one by one, so the process would still take time. All the autoposting would accomplish is making a mess out of the judging forums.

Well shit - it makes me rather upset for submitting only a few days after April 5th, lol. Ah well, at least I know why the panel is stalling, atm - you guys were on fire for the first week or two you were initiated into the judging position, so hopefully that pace can continue when LT get's situated better :).

Dafydd
08-13-2009, 10:13 PM

at LEAST give the password and account to 2 other trustees.

LT, I just hope your new job is treating you well and you're getting yourself nice and settled. You definitely deserve it.

As for this thread, I'd just like to say that, after looking at the judge's decisions since OA has started, that I'm quite impressed seeing his responses to some of the mixes. He took a few hard calls, in my opinion, but kept his head level and backed the decisions very well. Keep up the good work, buddy!

Dafydd
08-26-2009, 07:25 PM
I didn't realize the inbox checking was the hold-up. There are still 15 unjudged mixes in the queue. Of course, if all of those have been voted on by the same 3 people (or however many votes are needed for a pass -1), then those people COULD be voting on other mixes if they had been added to the queue from the inbox. But I really doubt that's the case (even though afaik it's happened before).

EDIT: Make that 14.

Palpable
09-11-2009, 10:08 PM
Just bumping this to note that I have started handling inbox stuff. Might be a little slow-going at first, but now Larry is not the only bottleneck. Well, you know what I mean.

Emunator
09-13-2009, 02:33 AM
Maybe I'm missing something obvious here, but I don't see how speeding up the judging process would actually fix anything. As much as I like looking at the queue just for the hell of it, the holdup doesn't seem to be on their end. There's, what, 30 mixes to be posted right now? The real bottleneck seems to be with DJP actually posting the mixes to the front page. With only one person posting mixes, it doesn't matter how fast mixes are getting judged, the overall posting speed will be the same.

Of course, I completely understand why djp can't speed up the pace on those considering his incredibly busy life, and I wouldn't want to sacrifice his brilliant writeups by bringing someone else on board, either. I'm not really sure how things could be sped up overall :?

prophetik
09-13-2009, 02:54 PM

Fishy
09-13-2009, 03:04 PM
It's a perk? Considering we do what we do for free, I think it's the only thing we get in return; other then the judgelove (rofl). That's the first time I've actually done it too.

Also it cuts out the possibility of a direct post so its not even always faster. I wouldn't bother if I didn't know how big the inbox waiting list was atm.

OA's done it a lot recently too, cheeky thing :3.

Also to Emunator: There are two bottlenecks, the inbox to queue step and then Dave posting them. The inbox is by far the biggest bottleneck at the moment (or rather it was) because Larry has a new job to concentrate on, but palpable is working it now and as you can see, the list of things to be judged just shot up.

Emunator
09-14-2009, 01:06 AM
