Anyways, after much deliberation on my part, I have decided that as of this day forth, the title of this project is The Dark Side of Phobos, or DSoP. Put your complaints here, if you must, but I feel that this title works quite well.

Moving on, I still need mixer bios, pictures, and MOST importantly songs. ;) Most likely I will extend the deadline of this project, in order to accomodate perfection to the best I can in terms of this project's quality.

Here is the new proposed time table. NOTE THESE DATES.

Mixing stage *continued

Point of No Return (from this point you cannot drop from the project): January 17th

Final WIPS (I say WIP for a reason) due: Jan 31st

Evaluation period: Feb 1st+ (during this time other mixers will critique the WIPS and give input for improvement on the songs. I don't know how long this period will last. However, this is a vital time for the songs, as it allows for touching up and perfecting the songs. Thus: DO NOT DELETE YOUR SONG FILES, FLP FILES, ETC>I know there are a few people who already have, but if you havent DON"T.

I like this. It took me some time to get to the flow of the song, but when I got there I really started diggin´ it. And I like retrovibes. Damn, I BREATHE retrovibes. So this is excellent for me. Very cool, chill retrotechno(ish). YAY! I´d love to see this in the final project.

Well here's my first wip(Very rough). I'm aiming to a dark trance track, with that little aggressive touch from doom. The first part is the original song's progression, heavily changed. I'm planning on adding more familiar melodies from the original towards the end. Anyways, I'll post any progress on it.

I like this very much. Great sounds you got there and a wicked sound canvas. You´re the man.

Yeah, I couldn't really get a good song going with the originals progression, so I kinda cut & tweaked what didn't work. Though if you listen closely, the beginning as well as the main bassline are almost note for note in the original song. Oh yeah, & thanks for the compliment.

And I really enjoy analoqs piece (heads outta the gutter guys). It has a really NIN kinda sound. Freaking awesome sounding, not in your face but still close enough to make you feel little (again, heads outta the gutter).

Sorry that I haven't been updating on my remix lately. I've been extremely busy.

I've decided on some names for my remix submission and I'll leave it up to all of you (or some) to give me some feedback on the best title;

- "Fortress of the Cannibals"

- "Mystery Meat"

- "Living Cadaver"
- "Citadel of Inscrutableness"

The original song is named "Fortress of Mystery" so if anyone has a better idea for a remix name feel free to let me know.
Also, I'm in dire need of good quality acoustic drum samples for me to make my drum loop (snare, toms, cymbals, bass drum, etc.). So if anyone has a real drum set to record samples or happens to have samples from a real drum set please e-mail or im me so i can make arrangements for a download.

Global Trance is right. While the Evaluation period is going on (that deadline is coming up, people), I will be working on write ups for the site, and hopefully I will be able to get them to global trance as soon as possible. Hah very minimalistic approach in percussion and style, although I thought the snare was too hmm "happy"? Maybe just my bad taste or something. But as for clipping I didn't notice a thing untill those strings came in, they're unusally blended into the song, some kind of resinence that doesn't quite mix into the song very well. Giving it some chorus and a tad higher frequency, with the reverbs high cutoffs adjusted it would be alot better since when the violin/cello's hit the lower notes it tended to make a really clip like tremolo. But very good stuff indeed.

i downloaded the mix thinking "how bad could those drum samples be?"

well you're right they're absolutely dreadfull, people get this man good drum kit samples!

Anyways i don't feel the need for extra soloing.

Edit: after re-hearing i'm finding that the low bass part at 0:58 to 1:22 is not very powerfull and the bass itself seems like it's playing almost random notes on the scale, also it seems a bit too empty, and while i'm that was the desired effect i feel that it's just too much of emptyness.

overall this i reckon will be 9/10 mix after it's finished in my honest oppinion. And being a Doom freak i'm a hard man to please on theme recriations.

nice marching dark intro, real spooky and organic. nice build-up on it, ok drums are in and they fit perfectly...a little cacophonic overall now...but quite enjoyable, beat dropped...oh this part is awsome...piano! nice melody. Oh the darkness, you can really imagine something stirring and crawling while drooling and grawling in the dark, it actually reminds me of the general uncertain danger enviroment of Doom 3...oooh what's over that corner...woop it's finished...aww dang i was really loving it too...damn it's 5 mins long! it felt so short! oh man don't touch anything on this piece really i mean that. pure doom 10/10.

I love NSMiniKit but NSKit7 is too large, and does have only an ok sound for its size, good velocity control though.

UPDATE: WELL! Good News and Bad News for me;
GOOD- Although the snare drum sucks, the kit that Joker gave me a link to is awsome (compaired to mine)!! Not only do you get a sample of each drum sound but you get a recording of how hard and soft the hit is!

BAD- Now I have to compile my kit to make drum loops. :(

I do admit, it's a great song so far, however, if I may ask you to try and tweak some things to give it a darker feel (to match the general mood of the project). Some minor note changes (no pun intended) could make a big difference for the overall feel. Other than that, I have no complaints. Well done, so far.

by the way guys, for this project release, I have decided to move the tracks around, in order to have the project flow better. Now, I know that this puts the levels out of order and what not, but I think it would be benificial to the final product to do this. Well, probably going to use Global-Trance's cover (the moon) for the front shot. As for the back, I'm still open to suggestions as to how it will look. I had in mind a desolate desert with a shrouded figure standing in the midde...but that probably wont work well in reality. At this point, with the project closing up, ideas are welcome. Plus, I need whoever hasn't sent me a bio to send it pronto, so I can compile em for the site.

Yeah. Rict. Every time I try to upload, it goes hella slow. Like... takes forever slow. And for some reason, my connection shuts off after a while automatically, thus making whatever progress I have, mean nothing. So, yeah, I need to get a cable connection.

Edito Bonito: After further analysis, I have concluded that me connection just sucks in general. It uploads at minus 2 kbps, shich sucks oval objects. So... I'll have it to ya myth on Ricts FTP. But exactly when, I don't know. But you'll have it soon, like this week sometime. In Flac.

For anyone interested, a preview mp3 of the Doom project was played on VGM - Steve King's (D-Lux) radio show last night. It recieved very good praise. Can't say I know how it feels to wait this long for the project - I can listen to all the songs if I wanted to - but I do appreciate the fans who are backing us, waiting for this to come out.

A few points:

1) We will need seeders. At this point, I am thinking two torrents - VBR Mp3 and .flac files. This will mean I need at least 5 seeders on each one when the time comes for launch. I'm going to estimate the Mp3 release at around 130 MB. Meanwhile, the .flac release is going to be pretty big. Anyone with highspeed who can offer their bandwidth for the .flac torrent will be highly appreciated. Also, there will be mp3 direct downloads from the site - this requires mirrors, mirrors, mirrors. SleazyC, Doulifee, Rob, and a few others have given me some webspace to use, and I'll also be using mine, but any one else who can mirror the mp3 downloads will also be appreciated.

2) Get me your pictures and bios. I posted that list a few pages back with what I need from who and I need those asap.

3) Promotion rocks the ocean. When the project debuts, anywhere you can promote it, go for it. Spread the word. Any other websites, forums, friends, family, etx. Don't hold back.
