Looking to buy FL on a budget.
Here is a feature comparison of editions:

Which one did you get, and are you glad you did? :)
Also, I wonder what the options are for getting an older version (8 or even 5 - cheap) and buying free upgrades to the modern version. And if an "educational" version is the same software.
Thanks!

Educational will be the same as non-educational version, but you'll need some proof of studentship to buy it. I'd strongly recommend getting a downloadable version of Producer, XXL has too much extra junk you don't need, but anything lower than Producer would likely limit you. If you can somehow find an old version like that I imagine you could just buy the unlimited updates, but make sure it's an unregistered version (hasn't been used before) or you probably won't be able to register it. If you end up deciding to buy a version you can get 10% off with this link, good luck!

Sheesh, this thing has too many editions *_*
Zephyr is right about getting producer edition or higher, though.

Apparently, they've changed the "XXL Edition" to "Signature Bundle", but you get basicaly the same thing.
The only thing really usefull in this package would be the Maximus. It's quite a powerful compressor/maximizer.

Maximus is nice, but really, unless you really know what you're doing, Soundgoodizer is good enough, it's just a few uneditable maximus presets that are free, it works really nice.
And unless all you really want is a drum computer, you probably won't want to go any lower than producer.

What about the Sytrus? I use it a lot, even if it does sound a little weird, sometimes.
