You're not gonna get much of a deal like this for either game until Feb or March of next year. That's what happened with L4D1 on steam.

just now read this. The group buy is a competitive alternative to Black Friday deals. You don't have to brave the traffic or crowds to get a pretty solid deal ($33.75 each) on either game if you do it that way. Just saying :)

I was actually very skeptical about this until I picked it up a few days ago. I'm only at level 15 or so but it is a lot of fun. I thought seeing a bajillion numbers popping up as you sprayed an assault rifle would be distracting, but its a very satisfying experience.

I'm getting owned a lot right now by those skag things so I probably need to update my loot though. I just don't want to sell my quick regeneration shield for a high powered one. Its saved me so many times now!

i cant get multiplayer to work i tried all day (which is making me really mad btw) but i seriously just spent my entire day playing single player and i had a ton of fun and will definitely play a lot more of it, even if i have to play it single player

I'm also playing, have a level 20 Soldier who can very easily go back to med spec (support spec is imba for tanking on groups). This game is freaking awesome.

I'm kinda irritated at the multiplayer bit though. It shouldn't be this hard to get people hooked up. I blame gearbox for a shoddy PC port, makes me wish I got this on the xbox instead (even with a better video card in my PC, vsync alone makes the PC one worth it)

Yes, you'd need XBL Gold. I think this game is better on console than on PC, personally. The multiplayer works really great 360.

I read in a few other places that the PC version feels too much "like a console design". So I guess the console is considered the "gold standard" for it.

Yeah, having just seen the number of problems inherent to the PC version, the console version appears to be the best option.
Though I won't be playing it myself, seeing as loot-fest are generally the most addictive time-sink ever, I can attest the game is really fun and engaging, especially in co-op/multi-player.

Aight, so I've finally had some time to actually play this the past couple days, and I am quite satisfied so far!

I'm leveling up kind of slow, because I'm kind of OCD about games like this, and I have to do every single stupid quest and go explore every single corner of the map before I move on... But anyway.

So someone tell me if I'm completely wrong here, but I kind of feel like (in no particular order) Halo, Half-Life, COD, Cell Damage, Bioshock, and (insert generic RPG game here) had an orgy, and this is the love-child. I mean, not that it bothers me, because those are all good games, but I'm just saying, it's weird, because there are times I swear I'm playing a different game :)

Most people have pretty much agreed, using gamespyID is the single most damning mistake for the PC version of the game... But I suppose that since they decided to go with as many digital retailers as possible, that they didn't want to incorporate the steam friends network %^(

This game is awesome, but I feel like the balance is way off. Brick is easily the best class, followed by Lilith. Mordecai is pretty good, but Rowland is awful. Rowland could be a lot better if they upped the bonuses given by his turret, such as replenishing health and ammo, but currently, he is the worst.

Great game, though. Highly recommended for people still waiting for Diablo 3.

From what I've seen on friend's game, you technically can't die with the Siren class.
When in a pinch, just phasewalk the heck out of here and wait till health recovers and shield replenishes itself.
I've also seen that the whole random/special weaponry makes this game pretty addictive ...thankfully I'm not playing it. ;D

Another pro-tip is to spend your money instead of saving it. Dying just takes a portion of whatever's in your wallet, so buy those big silly shields and guns to bring your total close to 0.

I'm running around with a level 42 soldier right now, and I'm doing pretty well. You're right in saying the turret becomes pretty useless, it doesn't hit nearly as hard as it does early on. I just picked up an awesome sniper rifle, it averages 1200 damage a hit, but it also is just about guaranteed to light whoever it hits on fire as well. It has a 4x fire mod and "Pele demands a sacrifice" on it :D

Beaten both playthroughs, level 50 Mordecai, all quests done, all proficiencies >40 (Except launchers, they suck anyway).

I think I've gotten all I can get out of this game until DLC comes around.

This game has some serious flaws, but it's a hell of a lot of fun, too .. an dI'm a sucker for Diablo-style weapon generation.

One of the big problems is that some specs are way better than others. To take Mordecai's case, there are really only 2 specs. Bird (Ranger I believe, whichever has the class mod that gives +4 predator) spec is completely game-breaking, bird hits >4 targets and has 1 second cooldown, heals mordecai when it comes back.. Other spec is what I call "Not Bird" which usually uses a gunslinger class mod ... Not as broken but a lot more fun, and still pretty powerful.

Story is terrible. Nuff said. Claptraps ... well, they get old fast. Bosses are dumb, they reward knowing how the game's physics can be exploited (e.g. making Sledge shoot the corner between him and you by tricking the game into thinking he has line of sight)

PvP is broken. Now that Phase Strike is fixed, Lilith can 1-shot people with a crit phase strike. This game needs WoW-style PvP damage scaling for duels to not be completely unfair. To add another example, my friend's got a sniper rifle that has a fire rate above 5 (It's got the "Sniper Killer... Qu'est que c'est" red text on it), kills anyone not tank specced in 1 crit or 4 body shots, duel over in <1 sec.
