Seriously, I just realized that there are NO After Burner remixes here. What the hell, dudes? I know there's remixes out there, but OCR seriously needs some more SEGA action.

I will not let this one fall like so many others. NEED After Burner remixes.

Quiet, you, and get back to your cage/podcast editing room!

And since I'm in a "having the last word" mood today, I'll close by saying I do endorse his claim that someone should pick up an After Burner mix or two. They could easily be done in rock or dance fashion, and there's quite a bit of room for original writing in some of them.

So please...won't someone think of the KyleJCrb's?

The world needs this awesomeness.

I have to agree, heck here are some "samples" (http://www.mediafire.com/?mmvyytzknvd) in case any mixer just needs something more "tangible" to work with.

The things that are beyond my reach on the internet, are next to none~!

Schwaltz is the internet.

This series deserves a remix if for no other reason than the fact that it produced some of the most righteous arcade games ever. To the nines (http://www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/50arcadecabinets/arcade3.php).

There is a pretty cool official arrange album made by S.S.T.Band.

KyleJCrb

Yeah, there's plenty of official arrangements out there, but fan arrangements are extremely scarce.

Bump (http://tindeck.com/listen/bmhc) for all the quarters I spent in the hydraulic version.

Started experimenting with the bassline from Red Out a bit. I'll work on adding some more soon.

Well no wonder you're not getting much attention on this request. You posted that horrid After Burner III version of the classic "After Burner" song. You're probably scaring people off. Let's fix that...

That's ABII isn't it..?

Nonetheless if it's desired I shall provide a 'sample' of the song for would be mixers...

Curiously also in MP3 format or is there another preferred format..?

The Coop

That's ABII isn't it..?

Yep. A song called "After Burner" in After Burner II, that was remixed for After Burner III.

The Count would not be laughing. He'd be puzzled asking, "Vat tha fuck? Ah ah ah ah ahhhhhh."

Schwaltzvald
01-07-2010, 03:43 AM
So...

mp3 or another format like .ogg?

Depending on my progress I may have it up later tomorrow as I'm trying to put together my first ever video on my youtube page.

Man what a bitch it is to even get it together.

Why not just click the YouTube link I provided for the very song I spoke of? Or are you doing something with the song yourself?

REGARDLESS... if you so choose to give an MP3, I'm sure others would rejoice. Or they'd just perk and eyebrow and go to another thread. Either way, upload that funky music white boy.

Schwaltzvald

Remember when I provided an actual copy of the tracks mentioned earlier on this thread..?

yeah...

Sorry to say I just dabble around with sound software and only have rudimentary knowledge of cleaning them up without distorting the original sound; I'm no where nearly as capable of the remix artists here.

Plus I'm more of a treasure hunter than anything

I do indeed remember that. But I've always found the Sega CD AB III to have botched the original tunes. They just didn't have the same edge.

However, I found the perfect site that features the music from After Burner (arcade and Saturn) and After Burner II (arcade, Saturn, Saturn arranged) recorded in ogg format. But I'm pretty sure I can't post the link. The music is ripped right from the games in question. If it was just links to recordings from the arcade games, I'd post it. But since the Saturn versions are on there...

If a mod would like to clear this up, it would be nice. Otherwise, if anyone's interested in the link, PM me.

Sorry Coop, I actually like the soundtrack for AC3, plus I couldn't find a rip of the track from AB2 that included the melody (listen to the link you posted: The melody is missing. I don't exactly understand why they did that). I'd post a link to tracks from the After Burner 20th Anniversary box set, but that's pretty much a no go under forum rules. I'd say grab the VGM from Project 2612, but the sound emulation is totally screwed up. So...yeah.

The Coop

The website I don't know if I post (I've PMed DS) has the arranged version for the Saturn, which features that melody. In the meantime, there's this...

S.S.T. Band playing the song live, melody included.

Ah yes, such an awesome performance. I think the SST Band has my favorite version, although the Climax Mix from the After Burner 20th Anniversary album is pretty awesome too (it's not the same as the Climax Mix from Bayonetta, although that one's pretty cool too).

All right. I heard back from DarkeSword, and was given the go ahead...

http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Lost_In_Translation/After_Burner_II

Right there, you'll find some of the music from After Burner (arcade and Saturn), and After Burner II (arcade, Saturn, and Saturn arranged) in ogg format, taken straight from the games. If you right click on the links, you can download the music tracks if you're not up for listening to them in your browser.

And if you want the versions with the extra melodies, go to the arranged tracks.

PLEASE! WON'T YOU GRANT THIS POOR MAN'S REQUEST?

Seriously? Nothing? It's been 6 months now. From what I understand, mixes could've been made and gone through the judges by now. Seriously, do this. Now.

Snappleman remixed this the other day for Punchfest 9 actually. Lemme dig up the songs...

EDIT: er After Burner II anyway.

The original and sequel have the same soundtrack.

Same basic songs (though ABII has "City 202" which AB doesn't), but the songs are quite different sounding for the most part...

"After Burner"- sounds almost barren compared to the ABII version

"Super Stripe"- a bit closer, but not as full sounding due to one instrument being VERY quiet and another being gone.

"Red Out"- sounds very similar

"Final Take Off"- emptier sounding due to one instrument being very quiet

"Maximum Power"- much the same as "After Burner"... rather barren in comparison

Hopefully, you will like this:

Not quite what you would expect from a fast paced track but since Bayonetta reignited my love for this track, I kept her in mind while writing this; so ended up creating a sexy and romantic song =)

Perhaps the holdup is a good link? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8IRq6HdAIU

I was a AB3 fan. Then I heard this. Note that it not only has the melody but that it also has its own unique riffs toward the end.

I should have been more specific and said youtube. I wasn't trying to one-up or downplay your contribution (or knowledge, for that matter), Coop. Those oggs are the best thing going; compare with Galbadia's rips if you want a laugh.

I simply support aerial rocking.

So DjMystix's Lady in Black remix was accepted, which is awesome, but it sounds like it's going to be posted as a Bayonetta remix according to Larry. So through sheer technicality, OCR STILL isn't going to have After Burner on the game list. SO CLOSE. :(

Thanks!

It was my fault. I asked them to decide for themselves which game they want to accept it for. The problem was, the remix (including the title) was written with Bayonetta in mind whereas the source tune is totally from After Burner. So a little bit of injustice done to the original track.

But then again, the judges review thread says "Bayonetta & After Burner". Not sure what they are going to do.

I have CD rips from my saturn copy of After Burner 2, which contains the AB1 soundtrack, the AB2 soundtrack, and the "With Melody" versions of the AB2 soundtrack (which is really only significant for final takeoff and after burner, but all the tracks sound like they have extra instruments added)...
If anyone's interested...
