What happened to these? Are there any plans on implementing a YOUTUBE tag (like the URL and IMG ones) into the forum software so we can choose to display youtube links as little video frames instead? I looked up how to make it work, in case djp is interested.

I think it's just been a low priority, but seconded.

I'll reinstate this when we move to vB4... there will be a host of many others changes as well, including the addition of blogs, at that point. ETA Q1 2010.

Make sure we can still link to them with normal url tags, please! It was annoying back when they were automatically embedded.

What it would be is a tag around the URL that embeded the video. If it was the URL without those tags, it would just be a regular hyperlink.

Sorry to post off--topic, but is there a way to make the coding tags appear in the post box?
It's kinda annoying to manually type in [url=blahblah]Text[url]
all the time.
Of course, I'm a newbie, so I wouldn't know if there WAS a way to configure that. I checked the UCP, but found nothing.
I'm all fine with the posting of youtube videos, myself, but I don't find it pressingly necessary.

There's a button that looks like A/A above the smileys. Try clicking that.

Sometimes it's more convenient/nice looking to just link to a video with text. If you wanted to link to a bunch of videos for a project tracklist, for example.
Glad to hear that the youtube tags will be necessary this time.

Oh I've been doing a good amount of that for a good while...

At the bottom of the UCP, for the Message Editor Interface options, change "Ehanced Interface" (WYSIWYG) to "Standard Editor."

I'm really sorry to be a bother, but I DID do that, but the post message box still shows up like before, with the Bold/Italic/Underline, Microsoft Word setup.
Does it have to be in a specific skin or something? Or am I just horribly fucking something up due to being new (probably the case)?
ON topic:
I can see though, in a forum as big as this, that there can be an overflow of youtube videos posted... They're useful for say, "post cool music" threads and the like, because you don't have to leave the thread, so they have that going for it.

Case in point: There was a thread where the first post contained over 50 youtube links, all converted into little youtube frames. Needless to say, this took a while to load. But, in, say, a wip thread, you might want to have the source tune in a youtube frame instead of as a link. It makes a lot of sense to let users choose whether to have youtube links as links or frames. Hopefully, soon enough, we will be able to.
