After listening to the previews, I am now officially a fanboy of this project. Ok well maybe not as much, but I am really looking forward to the new dose of Megaman tunes for my collection. Keep up the good work!

Because I can, I just plugged this over at Rockman PM.

Great work everyone (especially Devastus on X-Hunter Stage 1 and Dr. Manhattan on X vs. Zero) and I can't wait for the final result.

Now if only there was a way to get an early copy for reviewing purposes...

That's Dominic Ninmark on X-Hunter Stage 1, not Devastus - Devastus' on the preview is Crush Crawfish, somewhere around 4:30.

There's still some issues with the preview track I cut, namely that volume levels are inconsistent and zyko's clipping.

I also forgot to mention that Cyril sent me his final wav for the Ending (X1) song.

Who is mastering the unmastered wavs?

Bahamut
11-28-2010, 08:38 PM
bLiNd is.

More news, Dominic Ninmark sent me a delicious wav for the X1 & X3 Cast Roll tracks. He is also tackling Blizzard Wolfgang with some female vocals to accompany it.

Look sharp, as we have about a month to go! You'll probably see me posting roughly once or twice a day until the end of December due to the # of wavs left to come in - I'm assuming a relatively even spread of when wavs come in of course, although my gut tells me that I'm going to get a flood of wavs closer to the end of December.

Some of you more astute project stalkers may have noticed that the tracklist has morphed in a stealth manner over time. Throughout the course of the project, various people have dropped & changed tracks, or in some cases did not respond to any communications. In any case, the current tracklisting is pretty close to what is likely to be the final list. It is possible that a few more people don't make the final deadline. It's also possible that we add a few more tracks so stay tuned!

I recently became a fan of this site with Donkey Kong Music by Protricity.

When i heard about Mavericks Rising i nearly went crazy!
Best game soundtrack ever!
So here i am with my 1st post.

Before i was listing to this guitarist on Youtube. Youtube is where i found out about the album BTW, never read forums here before.

I think they tapped his work, it sure sounds like him.
The final preview has Spark Mandrill @ 6:18
Check his Spark Mandrill.
Either way the guitar work was excellent, I can't wait. And if you can't wait for the album hearing his work will satisfy some peoples MMX fix.

I have heard that guy's work, but I never tapped him for guitars though.

Spark Mandrill was done by Ergosonic for the album, who is absolutely sick - here are a few other songs he has done:

Earlier this year, he also did a song with Zylance (he did guitars) for a contest I ran for this album: http://bahamutwc.com/Files/Caution!%20Rouge%20Robots.mp3

Here's a bit of a random find: http://www.youtube.com/user/HeatnixMetal

Also for those who haven't heard Dominic Ninmark's stuff: http://www.youtube.com/user/NitroFlasher

Dominic has a variety of skills as you'll find out when you hear his songs on the album.

I got some song updates for a bunch of people, so it's looking like we're wrapping this album up. For those worried looking at the completion list on the first post, I can assure you all that most of those tracks will be done in time with maybe at most 8 of them not complete.

There is also a mystery guy who joined the project for a track who should provide a rocking tune for everyone! This guy is no doubt awesome and probably unknown to most of the community.

We're 16 days away from closing the book on the album musically, which is a pretty exciting time for us. I have about half of the wavs I'm anticipating now for the album.

Thanks, Bahamut! Yeah, I have some of his songs already...the X-Men vs. SF and the Garuda songs are my favs from that bunch.

The reason I am asking is because the first sample seems a little heavier on the guitar than the final preview sample. Did he change it or am I just hearing things (because I liked the version with the heavy guitar best), or is it just different parts of the song I am hearing and nothing has changed?

Are we still on-track for a Jan release? :D

I'm not sure when the release will be, but it will be before April I hope before I ship out to boot camp.

It could be that the first preview track was clipped from an mp3. I don't remember when I did each one so it's hard to say. The guitar isn't a sample though, that's him playing

Honestly, I'm hoping it's out before April - I ship out to boot camp April 4th, so I wouldn't be able to help with last minute details/promotion. There's no guarantee either way about dates though, as some albums have been waiting for months (Sonic and Pokemon come to mind).

So it looks like a few people will be a little late in getting finished tracks into early January, which isn't ideal but it will have to do. On the plus side we will see them finished, some people who many haven't heard of so I definitely want to see them on board. It seems like there's going to be some wavs coming in the next day or two, which was unavoidable on retrospect.

Lastly, Vurez sent me a wav for Sting Chameleon tonight! There's a lot of goodness, and you'll all get to enjoy it with the rest of the tracks in a few months! Just try not to spill any drool while listening to these tracks when it comes out  .

Hey hey! Happy new decade,

I am about to finish up the sigma track this weekend and put the vinishing touches on vile soon too. Shortly after I will be mastering everyone's tracks. But first I will be previewing them to see if they are any issues. If there are, I will either get in touch with bahamut to get in touch with anyone that might need to send me a fix if needed.

I know there were a lot of people uneasy about someone else mastering their music as I would be too. The main reason I have been chosen is because of the gear I use to master.

Just an FYI

I use the sonic-core platform which has been around nearly as long as protools HD. it was actually a competitor for it using dsp chips (sharc processors) in the early to mid 90s! These plugins rival most hardware and still, to my ears, nothing matches them in the native world. Even most powercore and uad plugins don't quite hit the same quality mark (universal audio is JUST NOW using sharc processors for the uad-2 platform)

So I am saying this because when it comes to mastering, it really is the quality of the gear/hardware/plugins you are using even more than the knowledge. Just feel safe in knowing that your tracks will be running through some of the most transparent eqs/compressors/limiters known to man <3

Bahamut
01-01-2011, 05:12 PM
Happy New Year to everyone!

Good to see what bLiNd mentions here.

I also should note that only one extra person got in a wav before 2011 - it seems like some people want to buy as much time as possible. As I've mentioned, when the mastering is done, I won't take anymore tracks - we'll be queued for release and the last thing I want is a possible delay of release until I am away and in boot camp. That will not be tolerated.

In more positive news, it was Gario who handed me his final wav last night of Final Weapon Stage 1! I also got a few almost done WIPs yesterday as well.

I can't wait to see everything completed!

Cyril the Wolf

Thanks bLiNd!

I was a little.... suspicious to say the least when I was handing over my metal and acoustic tracks to a primarily (at least from what I've seen but you've showed me other stuff before) to a nominally trance guy...

But, you come well respected and holy crap that gear.

I wish I had that gear ;_;

bLiNd
01-01-2011, 07:26 PM
yea, i do more than trance for sure but i enjoy making the dance music the best. I have worked with recording bands, composed orchestra music, rock, ambient, pop/jazz stuff. Mixed AND Mastered in all genres and I also actually use UAD plugins to mix/master as well. I will make sure to do my best with each track and if there are issues with any just let me know. Hopefully I can personally talk to everyone about the masters I complete for them.

Oh my God, I just sat down to listen to as much of the album that I have access to, and it's fuckin'... wow. Especially listening to some of those unposted names (Washudoll, Devastus, I'm lookin' at you, here) as well as some of the more obvious picks (*cough*Sixtohalc*cough*) I can tell you that there are some EXTREMELY GOOD tracks on here.

That's only the tracks that I can get a hold of on the WIP forums, too - I can only imagine what the rest of the album sounds like, here. I am eagerly awaiting what's coming, here. Sorry for gushing praise prematurely, but I am fucking excited about it.

Indeed, you did a solid job on it. In addition to DJ SymBiotiX finishing his track, Gario also gave me two more wavs yesterday!

I'm still expecting between 10-20 more wavs (rough estimate). If they don't come, of course we're still going to move on towards release as we have a lot of awesome stuff as it is. If anything, less tracks will make this an easier listen in one go  .

So I was listening to the Final Preview again, and I cannot wait until the release. There are some of the songs in the preview that I don't really care for and I felt could be reinterpreted much better, but there are a lot that I really like, including some of the metal tracks, and that is definitely not my favorite genre. I just want to say good job to the contributing artists, even those I have not heard, if the final preview is any indication, I have a lot of great music to look forward to come release time, I haven't been this excited since I bought MMX Collection 6 years ago. This is probably my favorite video game series of all time, so you guys can probably feel my excitement :)

I think I forgot to mention that bLiNd gave me a wav of Sigma Stage 4 from X1 a few days ago! In addition, Vurez gave me a second wav in the morning, this time of Overdrive Ostrich!

It's a quite exciting time, and I'm enthused over the album, it's going to be a great one :) .

Hey guys, I figure I'm way out of line in asking this but my curiosity needs to be satisfied. Is there any way to get in on this project? I could submit a pretty complete WIP in a short time. I know all the tracks have been claimed but it would be pretty killer. It fits my style and background perfectly too. This is some of my most recent stuff:

Talk to Bahamut... but chances are the answer is 'no', since the hard final deadline passed about two weeks ago. He's trying to get the album released sometime early April and bLiNd needs the time to master the tracks, so at this point the odds are kinda slim.

Just so it's known, I am working on Finishing my last track.

I've gotta plan out an overhaul on the production(for the 3rd time) , look at some other materials for references and then i'll clean it up.

It would've been done by now but it's been a busy holiday season for me and I just built a new PC and i've been spending a lot of time re-installing my 250 GB+ worth of data from XP to 7(Over half of that is just VSTi/samples/Raw recorded files for songs)

So, i'll do my best to get on that ASAP

Sorry about that, sir! I haven't been on OCR lately, with only e-mail notifications to remind me to visit every once in a while.

But yeah, Brandon's right; my brother's band has got my POD but I know the guy who has been keeping it at his house, and he text messaged me today to let me know he wouldn't make it out today, but will do his best to drop it off before he goes to work tomorrow. He'll keep trying until he makes it work. He has ULTRA_long shifts so he can't come out after work, which would usually be more practical.

Hello everyone, I am closing in on finalizing the website for this project but I need a few things from those involved in the project.

First things first, we need to honor the director, Bahamut. Not only for his hard work on the project, but especially for the fact that he is making such a great sacrifice and will be gone at Boot Camp most likely during the release of the final product. If someone in the community who knows him better than I do could write up a paragraph about him and his involvement in the project, and his overall impact on the OCRemix community, I would love to include it on the site.

Second, I wrote a small introduction for the homepage:

Maverick Rising is the XX album published by OverClocked ReMix. It is comprised of music from the entire Megaman X series of games, a series which spans over 17 years.

This ambitious project, from director Bahamut, features over 60 tracks across 5 discs with remixes from nearly every game in the series.

If you think this could be better (and it definitely could be better) please help me write it. I also need a longer, more descriptive 'about the album' paragraph for the 'about' page.

Third, I need to track down Dominic Ninmark. He did the album art, as well as a few tracks on the album. I have an 'about the artist' section on the album art page which he can have a small bio in if he wishes.

Finally, if there are any special thanks anybody would like to make, send them my way. I have a section for them.

The best way to submit any of these things if you wish to contribute is via PM or User Message, but I will also regularly check this forum post as well.

Thank you very much!

Maverick Rising is the XX album published by OverClocked ReMix. It is comprised of music from the entire Megaman X series of games, a series which spans over 17 years.

Entire: Should be removed because the music doesn't cover the offshoots that still fall under the X series, like Xtreme, Xtreme 2, Command Mission.

17 years: Looks to be the series last game was in 2006, so closer to 13 years.
http://www.themmnetwork.com/wiki/index.php?title=Mega_Man_X_(Series)

This ambitious project, from director Bahamut, features over 60 tracks across 5 discs with remixes from nearly every game in the series.

from director Bahamut: Should be left out since it will be noted in the notes, on the webpage as director, etc. If it must be kept, then the information should be added to the amount of ReMixers on the project, or the amount of time the music adds up to, 5 hours of music or such.

It would also be helpful to be more exact, instead of Over 60 tracks, 61, 62 63.

Instead of "nearly every game in the series" a quick listing of the games. Since this will be on the homepage, it seems easy to add a list with hyperlinks. Even a numbering of how many tracks per game, As described at the first post in this thread.

It is comprised of music from the entire Megaman X series of games

This makes it sound like you actually took music from the game rather than ReMixed/Arranged it. May want to reword it.

Comprising of music arrangements from the Megaman X series of games.

After the amount of years, might as well mention it also spans a multitude of gaming systems.

This ambitious project, from director Bahamut, features over 60 tracks across 5 discs with remixes from nearly every game in the series.

Ambitious is a good description, however that should fall into the bigger credits area as with the director. Rather than the first bit of info on the front when people see the page.

This project features 64 tracks by 43 ReMixers spanning 5 discs totaling 3 hours of ReMixes from nearly every game in the series, including bonus tracks.

Just random thoughts.

Contributions added. THANKS!

This project is going to kick ass! Can't wait to hear these remixes because I've grown tired of the insane focus on Mega Man X1 (especially Storm Eagle's stage). The X series in general has such excellent music. My only minor disappointment is that there's not much X8 love here. Seriously, even though it's the most recent installment, the music is some of the best in the series. Lots of really cool tracks, including:

Nonetheless, you can't win 'em all. Happy to see you guys giving it your all. :)

It also has to do with the popularity of the game. I had a SNES when MMX 1, 2, and 3 came out, so I played the hell out of those and loved the music. I didn't get a PlayStation until years after MMX 4, 5, and 6 came out, so I didn't have the opportunity to grow and love those titles' music as much. By the time MMX 7 and 8 were out, I had moved on to other franchises and couldn't really keep up with MMX anymore.

I agree, I also had and played the first three religiously whenever I had my SNES, I was also fortunate enough to get X4 for my Playstation on my ninth birthday. I was never exposed to 5,6,7, or 8 until I bought my PS2 and got X Collection, it was after that that I began to track down the remaining games in the series, and since lost interest in them. I still only play 1-4 on occasion.

Comprising of music arrangements from the Megaman X series of games.

Watch the usage of "comprise." While the above usage has become fairly common, it's technically correct to say that "This is an album comprising music arrangements from the Mega Man X series," or "This album comprises music arrangements..."
Alternately, you could say that "This album consists of..." or "This album is composed of music arrangements."

After reviewing the tracks, it is not going to be time effective to master this whole thing. A lot of different mixing styles in the selection make for extra work. Also every other project before this one has been mastered by the artists for each individual track. I believe it is better to stay consistent with OCR as a whole than to try something new and waste time when it isn't realistic. Not to mention 78 tracks would take me way too much time. Some tracks are already mastered and there are several indiscrepancies in the tracks that will defeat the purpose of mastering everything as a whole.

I currently am working on something I am contracted for and that is priority so in order for me to prioritize and be fair to everyone so this project can be out on time, I have to withdraw from mastering and ask everyone to polish their own mixdowns. Sorry if this causes some issues with everyone but it's just too big of a task at the moment and won't be worth it in the end.

Know this though, when I am done with what I am doing you will see why I had to choose. Be good <3

So, I must ask that anyone who hasn't already mastered their track to please do so, and send it to me at this address: dyne2057@gmail.com; as soon as is possible given your schedules. I need to cut off any new tracks by April 8 in order to give OCR time to evaluate tracks and prepare for the release.

Give up on the idea of having a consistent volume... If you try to edit the volume of a mastered wav, you're just going to end up with an annoying slew of audio defects. :-(

Not to mention they're all different genres and styles so the perceived volume would be different regardless.

The best option is to just get the best master for each individual song. :3

bLiNd
03-30-2011, 02:51 AM
Its not hard to get them all even, but it detracts from the genres involved quite a bit. Why lower the volume of a slammin rock song cuz the bass is lower than a heavy low end electronica mix? Dance music definitely raises RMS levels a lot because of the bass. The main thing that is important is getting the same volume curves throughout average eq of each song. This is why its better to put genres together and master those perceived cds separately.

Hello everyone!

First, I want to let you know that I'm not out of the game just yet, everything is going to be fine. I'm working with melody right now in an attempt to get everything squared away so we can submit the final project to OCR for evaluation. That said, I've been scanning the last few pages of this thread so I can get up to speed on everything.

So far, so good. But I need to keep this flow going, so anyone who HAS NOT yet mastered their tracks, I need to know if they were mastered prior to being sent to Bahamut, if so, that makes everything that much easier for me to handle, and we'll be able to progress effectively, and everything will be right as rain.

As far as the artwork for the album goes, I need that ASAP. I have disc cover art, but I need front and back cover artwork as soon as possible. I've seen the front cover art, and I'm impressed. Now, I need to see the rest.

As far as the site for MR is concerned, I've seen a preview and it's going to be awesome! Drew is doing a bang up job, and I definitely appreciate his efforts!

If anyone has any questions at any time, send them to my Gmail account, and I will respond as fast as possible. Please put into the subject line the following: "RE: Maverick Rising". My email address is: dyne2057@gmail.com

This will enable me to search for your email faster than if I have to scan for it, as I get a lot of email to this account (thanks mainly to LinkedIn).

Thank you everyone who has a hand in this project, it's going to be a spectacular project, and I'm looking forward to finishing what Bahamut started as best as I can!
