Well, I'm back as some of you have noticed, and multi team kicks ass! ESPECIALLY when you go into with a party of four, it splits you up and puts one on each team. That makes for good times. I'd like to thank everyone who was on and let my apartmate into the clan, very nice of you all, I wasn't even going to ask since she has no computer.

I'm finally moved into my apartment, and have cable and internet, and recently got me a 2500 dollar electric piano. YES!!!! It is soooo crystal clear, I can't remember not having a piano since I was 6, so this is nice. And it will eventually pay for itself, what with not needing to keep the upkeep you need on a 'real' piano. Plus, it has a headphone jack, so you can practice without being heard. Anyway, enough about that, I'm really looking forward to playing with the clan again, I've missed the jolly days of 'pass the party leadership around'.

Yes! That was some great halo fun! It was nice to have Marius and Cyanide back. w00t. We also have a really cool new member Ratirna! Metrion came and played a while too, so yeah...good times! Some bastard killed off all my pretty files up at the career center so, no pogo ninja (all of it was going to be handdrawn... not anymore though), no cel-shaded side view of the "legendary" difficulty shield with headphones (clan symbol for usage on tshirts/sigs), and other spiffy things... Prayer is beautiful as well. So far, Bowser is pissed is my favorite. It caught my attention the most because I play guitar. Could have been LOADS better in battle had they switched a few things around. Too bad, 9 and 7 are still better though. 9 is back to the good old days of 4 character parties... I miss that... Also, check out "Tactile Freefall" under Lifeforce, along with some of the Castlevania stuff. Vampires = pwnage, maybe that's why I'm so good at Halo... ^w^

From what I'm told its incredibly difficult to use your own PC as a host computer/server. Because your ISP limits bandwidth for upload to much lower amount then download. (not sure on that though.) My cousin did that once and took it down within a week, he told me it was easier and cheaper to just get hosting.

well you can use your own computers, but you gotta register with your ISP a static IP address and then you gotta get domain name hosting, and then these computers have to be fast and reliable (basically you can't use them)...there's other things you gotta do, but if you're just making something small and simple i would agree that paying for hosting will be much cheaper especially since you can probably get something free like http://www.freespaces.com/...i'm sure as a clan page we wouldn't need huge files unless (as stated before) you want to host videos and then you're talking about needing hosting with lots of bandwidth (and those are expensive....)

A bit of a circular thing, there. I do have an alternate Tower of Power game designed, but I would like to look at the statistics of a few actual games to see if it needs to have tweaking done to it. Also, examining an original game's stats would allow me to better tweak my version.

EDIT: Blah. I needed to organize my thoughts. I'm looking for Tower games, because they're not registered officially. Then, with your permission, I'm going to look at a couple of your regular games to get an idea of how good you are, and a couple of Single Bomb Assault Games to see how you handle a similar sistuation.

If the results from the Tower games vary too greatly from the other two sets of data, the game may need tweaking.

tonight was awesome!
played with marius, ratirna and her guest, and zero infiniti. carbon and magic joined in the last game i played in and maybe a couple others but i was having so much fun i didn't notice any others
started with a couple matchmade gaames, first one a really hectic, confusing and fast paced team slayer on gemini; next one was a not as good team slayer on ascension. then we started switching around leadership. the best by far was zero's turn. king of the hill on lockout with random weapons and 3 minutes to win. i eventually won ^^ but it took forever. quite a few non members joined making it really crazy, and most of the time i was kinda yelling "marius must not win! must beat marius!" cuz marius is always winning ;_; so i got my wish!
too bad i have homework to do ;_;

Here's a question to ask: What, exactly, leads to the top rank in the leaderboards?

Using the Stats for ian757 (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/PlayerStats.aspx?player=ian757), leader of the Team Skirmish Leader board, I examined these three games:

Slayer (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStats.aspx?gameID=304003920&player=ian757)
Place: 2nd (out of 8)
Kills: 22 (out of 25)
Deaths: 17
Medals: 13
-4 sniper
-4 bonecracker
-3 assassin
-1 stick
-1 killing spree
Hit %: 39
Avg. Life: 20 seconds

Things of note:
-4 players are listed as having not died in the game, nor as have gotten any kills

This doesn't tell us a lot by itself. ian757 is skilled, yes, but not overly so. The varied nature of his medals, along with the low killing spree count, and the 4 player drop out, suggest that this was a very hectic game. Then only real conclusion we can draw here is that ian757 may be a good player on his own.

Now this is interesting. One might assume that if ian757's not good at solo-slayer missions, he might be better at Team-Slayer games. But he's really not. His solo stats are better than his team stats. How is that possible? He's the leader of the team skirmish boards. That means he has to be good at team games, right? Maybe not. hese results don't seem to suggest that answer.

O-ho! Now this is where we see the variation! ian757 is a bomb-runner! Even with this as his worst kill/death ratio, he still carried the team by planting 2 of their bombs. So it could be said that ian757 is actually most beneficial to his team when not holding a weapon.

The stats show that ian757, on the whole, isn't a fantastic player. Proffcient, but not the Halo God that everyone may think.

"But he's just, well...BETTER!" you may be saying. Not true. His statistics are no better than yours or mine, and I might brag that some of my stats are routinely higher than his (a claim I cannot back up, unfortuneatly). But try this:

It struck me as odd that as a single player, he individually out-played all three players of a proficient skill level on the opposite team. So I looked at his stats vs. ian757's:

Isn't that fasinating? A player that is at least slightly better than a Leader board player has a lower Win Percentage. How does that happen? There are a few likely explainations, but most obvious would perhaps be the relatively low difference between ian757's games played and wins totals. This suggests that he played with a majority of players that were just as good, likely better than him.It also suggests that out of those games, he was on the winning side the most times. Luck? Perhaps. Or perhaps he just played the least out of all his friends, and won with them more times than not when they played. (i.e. he only played with his friends, who are probably collectively just as good or better than him. Then out of his friends, he played the least, leading him to have the highest ranking on the leader boards by doing a slightly less amount of work than his friends).

Along with various types of cheating, since I know some of those higher ranked people will standby in order to keep their rank. That, or start to lag their connection down in order to rape everyone with a shotgun. I've seen it done before with my own two eyes at my friend's house. All he did was start to lose, load up 3 P2P programs, and he started lagging so much that his shotgun was way too powerful against the other guy's BR. That, and the fact the other guy was hardly moving at all =P

Also remember how modders climbed the leaderboards ¬¬

Speaking of crisp clear 2-d, anyone else seen the trailer for the new Ghouls and Ghosts on the PSP? Finally they're making a portable game for it! I've got a PSP myself, but if you really want to play the good games on it, you may as well stay home and play it, considering you're going to need an hour or two to really have fun with Lumines or Acid (The only games I have for it right now)

Taco Bell is the only fast food i can eat anymore around here

kinda funny since right now we're watching "Super-Size Me" in health. that video says mcdonalds calls ppl who eat there once a week heavy users and those who eat there 2-3 times a week super heavy users. i used to eat there about 3 times a week, mainly in the summer, and i'm actually quite skinny... me and my friends (who are kinda obese) always joke how i'm the fat one ^^ tis quite enjoyable

But I recently got some really cool games for my PS2 (Gundam: Encounters in Space and Zone of Enders) so those will keep me busy until the new Gundam Seed game (That is rumored to be the best Gundam game yet. nice, but it was assault....killing is not the objective (but its still naughty fun!)....at least you managed to kill the bomb holder 6 times best on the team, i can certainly see why you're in the 20s, i just wish i were a little better, i'm alright but just that extra lag element always throws me off when people disappear around me, but i love dominating unranked games, it was so much fun to do that in Halo 1 too

sorry metrion, my connection is the suck tonight...dunno what the hell it is but man our room gets some funky connection, one day its good, the next its bad. hell i even pulled the cord from my own room (we normally use my roommates room connection) and it was terrible...i'm not too happy with our ISP but they are all we have here at the dorm because they use a VOIP type setup for the tvs and phones (which i think is totally lame since the tv lags more than it should)...i wish they would just do like last year and have (what i assume was) Comcast with minor traffic monitoring...seriously, a firewall and anti-virus software on peoples computers and just block those with viruses until they clean off their machine as well as block those without norton anti-virus corporate (since that offers the best network monitoring and GSU provides it for free). See that'll keep people in line and hopefully teach them a thing or two about opening bad email or whatever....damn sorry i'm just pissed i can't play tonight :evil: ...

Wrong, the night I played with you was the first time I'd been on in a while. In any case, I had one hell of a night (in a bad way). First off, I found that the girls I hung out with were probably some of the most airheaded and immature women I've ever met. And second, I was forced to give one of them a ride home. It was somehow decided that I was going to do that, and it was 10 miles out of the way. I am really mad at her for doing that. She didn't ask or anything, all she said (on her phone to her father) was that I was giving her a ride home. I did NOT agree to that. On top of which, I barely know her and she's really not that good looking. I'm sure if she had a much more mature attitude about her, and a little cuter, I probably wouldn't have minded that much.

Now the sad thing is she likes me but she left a really bad impression of airheadedness and irresponsibility upon me.

I think he means media of entertainment sorts such as movies or music. In other words, things that cost money. Personally, if I can't find what I want anywhere else, I'll download it, but if I find it available somewhere down the way, I will buy it. I don't even think about movies though, which is why I am being patient and waiting for Advent Children to come out. This gametype is designed to do 2 things: Teach players to kill fast and to work as a team. I have found it to work. Let me know what you think.

here some it started as me and ratirna vs magic and then a few others joined. if it is a 2 on 1, then the person by his/herself has a great advantage: more ppl to kill, only needs 25 while the other team needs 50, no one to drag him down etc.

Having the starting weapon as shotgun wont teach anyone anything. The shotgun's flaws in halo 2 drag down a player very easily. And having no shields on? How would that teach someone to kill fast, they wont have to try, just pull the trigger in the general direction and let the shotguns spray talk. It also is flawed in that it wont teach people to work as a team. It would be a group or two, with your rampant lone wolf running around dropping on people and shottying them.


Now, a good gametype to teach some skill is a gametype with a battle rifle start, nades on, no radar.
The lack of radar almost forces you to work as a team because the battle rifle start makes you instantly vulnerable if you are alone and the other team is being just that....a team. Even splitting in two's can allow you to wreak havoc with BRs. BRs are basically the new pistol. Using nades will teach you to kill quickly, no more newb combo bullshit. Nail a splash damage from a frag, headshot once with the BR is an instant kill. This will also teach you how to lay plasma nade "traps."
That is, retreating from a fire fight with an oponnent whil dropping plasmas in your wake. If the opponent is stupid enough(which most are) they will try to dodge the plasmas and lose their shields. At the time, you swing around pop a headshot with the BR and hear GAME OVER as your team takes the match.

Metrion: I was leaving off the "force even teams" thing to see if one could make something like a predator scenario work. Except with all the marines living. And I knew I forgot something. :oops:

EP: I think differently. The shotgun is a ornery beast in Halo 2, which is precisely why I choose it for the main weapon. This is about learning to kill and move swiftly under what are frequently less than perfect conditions. That's why I didn't include any Sniping weapons. I don't want players ducking behind corners or setting up sniping spots, simply because anyone and their Grandma seems to know their way around sniper rifles. They know it so much that I would venture to say that having a training game explictly for the use of snipers is not a very wise idea.

The shotgun gives you a very nice idea of timing and range, as well as a sense of dead-on accuracy you need for less than ideal kills (the shotgun has a very limited 1-hit kill range, and with Damage Resistance on, that range is even more restricted). This is likewise my reasons for using the Magnum, which has a greater range than the shotgun but requires even more accuracy to be effective.

The team work aspect may need some help, though I found that in "Lone Wolf" Scenarios with the minimum score on, the other side was forced to become teammates against the Wolf (me). They had to practice none-sniping team tactics to effectively kill me, though it still usually cost them one guy.

In light of this, allow me a to rephraise to say: "It teaches players to move swiftly and perform kills with similar swiftness".

I appreciate your feedback, though, and may consider it for a Sniping Training gametype.


For now, though, please add "force even teams On" and "no weapons on map" at your discretion and tell me what you think.

Pistol + No shields = Too easy. Shotguns REQUIRE you to be up close for them to actually damage someone. Mid range it'll hardly do squat to them, but the pistol can pop through a head with no shields. Also, grenades on CAN be a problem on small maps like Foundation... You just hole up in a room, push boxes at the door and 'nade over them and kill those trying to get in. But on maps like Zanzibar where you can actually run, it's fine. This gametype is pretty much SWAT... But no starting BR. Dual Pistols may be a problem...

And I was meaning the movie people! Stop stealing it since you're ruining the movie for others and for Square!

Music should be free IF AND ONLY IF:
You have to import it at like, oh say, $30-50 a CD from Japan for OSTs... (Thanks Lazy for that site. It'll help me out sometime soon!)

Now, music mixing/creation programs and things like Studio MX, THOSE should -NOT- be as pricey as they are!!! Studio MX is like, $1000!!! I'd rather keep my ripped copy... Fruity Loops came down in price so I may buy that and get full access to those samples they have for download >.>

Also, TEAM HARDCORE! No idea how ranking will be on that though "Pros will be matched against Pros and beginners against other beginners..." So will it take your highest rank and count that as the deciding factor? We'll find out soon enough I guess...

1) the grenades are supposed to be a problem. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's only 1 room in Foundation with the kind of boxes you need for a barricade. And they won't completely cover the door.

To be honest, I have no idea. Or, should I say, I had no idea, because I left Satan's Toilet, too. Now it's Clan DKU (http://www.bungie.net/Stats/ClanStats.aspx?clan=DKU), the unofficial Halo 2 clan of Donkey Kong Universe. (http://www.dkvine.com/) (You may have heard of this site before it changed its name - it used to be Donkey Kong's Jungle Vine, or DK Vine, for short.) Interestingly enough, it looks like we picked an "abandoned" clan, because there are clan games listed that we never even played. Didn't know you could do that. Clan matches for us, though, are as annoying as ever, thanks to those level 39s who create a new, level 1 clan just to get off on kicking lower-level players' asses.

But take their distance weapons away, and they're crap.

*ahem* The new Castlevania game for DS (DS OWNAGE!) is GREAT. If you've played the first (Aria of Sorrow) it picks up at the end, a year later. It is MUCH better now that you have to do things such as seal bosses away using the touchscreen and also breaking crystals to form paths to climb upwards, sliding puzzles to change a few variable rooms, and also for telling your little bat familar to harass this one particular enemy for you while you kick everything else's ass. Luffly I say, LUFFLY! Also, Advance Wars is sweet so pick that up as well. I will destroy you with Sasha and Colin! -insert long maniacal laughter here-

I have the base for the first section done already, just need the piano sounding thing (Lazy knows what I'm talking about...). After that, I'll make the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th parts to it (one for each "stage" of the level) and then mix it. IF it sounds good, I'll prolly preview it somewheres...

Another minute, another char. Then he starts to bribe people to do it! If I knew his email address I'd seriously hack his account and steal everything of his and also delete all the characters... Anyone have a way of doing this so I can get some uber revenge on him?
