Whoa, I haven't checked out this thread in quite a while. For a while there, I wasn't sure if this was ever going to be finished.
Now I guess I should start polishing. I kinda wish I didn't do mine so early as I think I've gotten better since this project first started.
Wow. The person who deleted my last post in this thread want my death. I've only proposed my opinion.
So yeah Shael. When I picked that track, almost one year ago, I was really glad for making it. I still love my Chun-li ending 3 "mix". This was one of the best songs I have ever done. And Chinese Dreams gained a "Stuffs of Legend" at vgmix 2.
So can I return to work on a track plz? I'll promise making some more urban genre. I am a little busy in other projects around. But if you give me a good deadline i can make it with pleasure.
Is Zangief Stage available?

I am going on the oposite direction.
I am dropping Chun-Li.
Reason: I am not satisfied with my WIP and really don't want to keep working on it.
My apologies to Shael, I will be following the progress of the project closely and cheering for everyone.

:( I thought it sounded good man. But I know how it feels when you're not happy with something, even if other people think it's good.
Don't forget you said you were gonna do Balrog's ending with me, so you're not out of this yet! :D

AFAIK, someone has done a WIP of Zangeif's stage, but you can also do one, Shael will decide which version is more suitable. It seems that Chun-Li's stage has just fully opened up.
Ok here is a quick list of the songs that are still fully open ie. no wips or anything afaik:
E.Honda Stage
E.Honda Ending
Blanka Ending
Ken Ending - lol this will be near enough an urban remix of the wedding theme.
Chunli Stage
Chunli Ending
Zangeif Ending
Sagat Ending
T.Hawk Ending
Fei-long Ending
DeeJay Ending
M.Bison Ending
Leave Dhalsim's and Balrog's endings to me.
I think that if those who are doing a character's stage feel that they can also mix their character's ending theme then that would be a good thing.

Weekly update:
I sent out several pm's to those who haven't posted for a while and/or expressed interest in a particular theme that is now free, letting them know the final date, where the thread had moved to, etc. Spaclock has said that he will do the E.Honda theme. Red Tailed Fox and I will be working on the Chun-Li ending theme(s). I've sent a WIP of Dhalsim's theme to Shael and I'm going to start work soon on a Balrog theme. Do you guys think I should sing on it or just leave it instrumental?
Tracks still open:
Chun-li Stage
Cammy Stage
Vega Stage
E.Honda Ending
Blanka Ending
Ken Ending
Zangeif Ending
Sagat Ending
T.Hawk Ending
Feilong Ending
DeeJay Ending
M.Bison Ending
Roughly 5 weeks to go till the final date.

LMAO! Maybe write some lyrics that are vague so you can't tell it's street fighter? Yeah it is gonna feel strange singing about street fighter, that's why I'm wondering whether to do a vocal of Balrog's ending or not.

You can't call a track from here on in without a WIP that I or Malcos have aproved as being in the correct genre and of an acceptable level of quality; you've just got to make, submit and hope. We've had problems in the past regarding that issue and they will not be repeated.
And, yes, Joker and Txai, this applies to you.
Additionally, Character Select is now open; Kung Fu Chicken missed his WIP deadline.
The Joker
03-23-2006, 05:42 AM
Well, I wasn't really calling a track. I was just saying that maybe I'd give the project another shot. But, I've decided against it. Anyway, good luck with it all.

Ok last weeks list is still accurate afaik. I've been working on the 'here comes a new challenger theme', I sent the final to Shael so that's done. So I've only got to work on Balrog's ending theme now.
4 weeks to go people! If you want to take any of the themes that are still free, either me or Shael will need to hear a WIP of it. As I said before, if you've done a character's stage already and would like to also like to do their ending theme as well that would be very kool!
I've sent my vega stage wip to Shael over one week ago. He said to me it sounds good. I think it means I am officially working on it. But i'm not sure at all.
To fix things up, I've sent my wip to Malcos as well.

I hope Shael is recieveing more correspondence than I have, because I've had hardly any this week. Anyways I still have faith that we will get a good release!
Tracks still open AFAIK:
Chun-li Stage
Cammy Stage
E.Honda Ending
Blanka Ending
Ken Ending
Zangeif Ending
Sagat Ending
T.Hawk Ending
Feilong Ending
DeeJay Ending
M.Bison Ending
Come on people, let's mobilise! I have no doubt that this project will be popular, everyone knows the Street Fighter tunes. Do as many tracks as you can guys. :D
I've still got to tackle that Balrog ending theme, I haven't got that much time left. I want to finish early in case we don't get any other people to finish the remaining 2 stage themes that haven't been covered yet.

My updates are getting a little out of sync now lol, but anyways. It seems that all of the stages have been claimed at this point. We have less than 2 weeks now to submit our final versions to Shael. I will be going crazy in the last week, but you'll just have to wait to see that. Anyways, the tracks that are free afaik are:
E.Honda Ending
Blanka Ending
Ken Ending
Zangeif Ending
Sagat Ending
T.Hawk Ending
Feilong Ending
DeeJay Ending
M.Bison Ending
I believe these tracks to be non-essential (due to them being ending themes) especially at this penultimate stage in the project. However I do still think that 2 weeks is plenty of time.
As for other themes: 'Tournament mode begins', 'Title screen', 'Ending credits' and 'Here comes a new challenger' themes have already been taken.
Me and RTF are still working on Cammy and Chun-li at this present time. I think we may even finish early. Let's all make some great tunes guys!

IMPORTANT VITAL POST
Ok, this is the final week. Shael has asked that I take in the final submissions. You can email them to me directly (gmail hehehe) or send me a link.
File guidelines:
192kbps mp3 - I recommmend freerip which uses the LAME encoding. I don't use winamp anymore because it sometimes causes the file to go into clipping when it shouldn't. But anyways you can find it here:
http://www.mgshareware.com/frmmain.shtml
Don't forget to come up with an original name for your remix, OC style! :D
ID3 Tags are as follows, using my Balrog remix as an example:
Title: Blood on the Asphalt: a Tribute to Street Fighter 2 - Balrog Stage 'Mercenary boxing'
Artist: Stephen Malcolm-Howell (Malcos)
Album: Blood on the Asphalt: a Tribute to Street Fighter 2
Year: 2006
Genre: Game
Composer: Stephen Malcolm-Howell (Malcos)
Original Artist: Alfh Lyra, Yoko Shimomura
Copyright: Capcom
Url: www.ocremix.org
Encoded by: Stephen Malcolm-Howell (Malcos)
I soooo excited! This is gonna be great! :D
Final Deadline 25th April
EDIT: Forgot to add, the filename would be:
BotA_a_Tribute_to_Street_Fighter_2_-_Balrog_Stage_Mercenary_Boxing.mp3
EDIT 2: Changed the capital 'A' to a lowercase. Shael reminded me that the article should always be lowercase. And I thought my gammar was good. Oh well.

There'll be some scrambling on my end, but my two are coming. I only just decided on final arrangements, and I'm about to send my reggaeton (http://www.bronxrican.com/stuff/misc/jose-oc-deejayreggaeton.mp3) to DJSammy for some (last-minute, I'm afraid) scratching; strings still need layering, which is being done now. The vocals will be mixed into both during today and tomorrow. There's a new organ intro for Vega's ending. Stay tuned....

I have all the guitar tracks already recorded for akumajo's song and his basic tracks are all recorded too. Also, the mixing process is in a very advanced stage. Now I only have to get in touch with him (what I'm doing right now) so we can decide the best way to mix the track.

Forgive me if it's in this thread and I overlooked it, but will these tracks be mastered for the album? What I'm giving right now is decent enough, but officially unmastered. If I should master them, lemme know.
Vega's ending is completely done! Unfortunately, I'm programming my own scratches right now and doing final mixing on the other track, and that will also be among the "5 or 6 in the morning" works coming in.
I wanted to do more with the vocals on both tracks, but my as-ideal-as-it-gets mic setup is displaced for reasons I can't get into now, so I have to work with what I have. The chorus on the Vega track is almost rudimentary because of it. I hope it's still satisfactory... Check it out below:

Shael has asked me to collect the final versions. He has other things going on at the mo and so I've stepped in to be his 'deputy' so to speak. It's my understanding (I might be wrong) that he's got all WIPs and final versions in one place, so he can't really dicipher which is which, with so many tracks.
Bascially you'll have to send it to me. Sorry.
Just to update: Shael has emailed me and asked me not to accept ANY submissions after Friday 5th May. Anything sent to me after that date will not be included in the final album.

Ok, got a couple more tracks in. Just 6 more stages for me to recieve and we'll be good to go! Fingers crossed everyone! I've finished the M.Bison mix, although it's probably not what people will be expecting. By that I mean it's quite different in style to anything I've ever done before.
Just to throw an idea out here. Right now the filenames are as such:
BotA_a_Tribute_to_Street_Fighter_2_-_Bison_Stage_Tribute_to_the_Master.mp3
Now do you guys think it would be better if we added the artists name in, like this:
BotA_a_Tribute_to_Street_Fighter_2_-_Bison_Stage_Tribute_to_the_Master_by_Malcos.mp3
What do you guys reckon? These filenames are gonna end up being REALLY long! Or perhaps just:

So the tracks won't be numbered? Is there going to be a suggested track order?
Eternal Testament

Track order? Maybe something like this?:
.Malcos' Blood on the Asphalt
.Title theme
.Here comes a new challenger
.Character select
.Versus
.Character themes
.Boss themes (in the order they're traditionally fought e.g Balrog, Vega, Sagat, Bison/Akuma)
.Continue
.Ending themes
.Credits
There are no track numbers because I've got no clue how many tacks have been submitted, but this is just a general idea.

Erm, actually it's Shael's 'Blood on the Asphalt' :!:
Yeah I had the idea that it would go something like that! Although I would like the 'here comes a new challenger' to come in the middle of the stage tracks, I wouldn't mind it being where you put it on the list.
So the tracks won't be numbered? Is there going to be a suggested track order?
There definitely will be an order, and track numbering. Just waiting for the Friday deadline to come and go, and hoping that those tracks I haven't yet recieved will come through!
After Friday I'll do a preliminary track list and send it to Shael for approval.

don't do that...It's not a good idea...
I recommend putting yours at the beginning, and mine at the end, right before the end credits. that way, they're far enough apart that they don't bore the listener, and they're thematically appropriate, as if the street fight is over in mine, and about to begin in yours.
edit: Canadians use British spellings, because British spellings are correct.

IMPORTANT VITAL POST
Ok, this is the final week. Shael has asked that I take in the final submissions. You can email them to me directly (gmail hehehe) or send me a link.
File guidelines:
192kbps mp3 - I recommmend freerip which uses the LAME encoding. I don't use winamp anymore because it sometimes causes the file to go into clipping when it shouldn't. But anyways you can find it here:
http://www.mgshareware.com/frmmain.shtml
Don't forget to come up with an original name for your remix, OC style! :D
ID3 Tags are as follows, using my Balrog remix as an example:
Title: Blood on the Asphalt: a Tribute to Street Fighter 2 - Balrog Stage 'Mercenary boxing'
Artist: Stephen Malcolm-Howell (Malcos)
Album: Blood on the Asphalt: a Tribute to Street Fighter 2
Year: 2006
Genre: Game
Composer: Stephen Malcolm-Howell (Malcos)
Original Artist: Alfh Lyra, Yoko Shimomura
Copyright: Capcom
Url: www.ocremix.org
Encoded by: Stephen Malcolm-Howell (Malcos)
I soooo excited! This is gonna be great! :D
Final Deadline 25th April
EDIT: Forgot to add, the filename would be:
BotA_a_Tribute_to_Street_Fighter_2_-_Balrog_Stage_Mercenary_Boxing.mp3
EDIT 2: Changed the capital 'A' to a lowercase. Shael reminded me that the article should always be lowercase. And I thought my gammar was good. Oh well.

In real life, if something is finished I have a habit of saying 'CUT!'. Well now this is the time to say CUT!
I have 23 tracks, playtime is roughly 1 and a half hours. I'm in the process of making a preliminary tracklist - I should be sending it to Shael sometime today, if not tommorrow at the latest. We'll be working on several things from there, like finalising the playlist, ensuring quality across all tracks (we have to listen to the whole album in order several times), and the fact that he may have some finals I have yet to recieve. Work will then begin on the torrent, etc.
As we speak, Richter is working on a website for the project. :D
EDIT: Just to add, the boss themes sound great after each other!

2 mixes of the same song right next to each other?
And on a semi-related note: I think you guys need to be a little more patient and at least get remixes of all of the main character themes covered for this project (ending themes and other small jingles aren't as big of a deal, I'd say). I know there's a certain sense of urgency and anxiousness in trying to release these things quickly, but I think the project could certainly benefit from covering all of the main themes in the game, no matter how long it takes. I don't mean this as any disrespect to this project or anything, but it would certainly be much nicer if it were a little more complete. :)

Talk to Sixto (the remixer you originally had slated for the track, last I checked). He was injured in a pretty bad accident and wasn't able to play guitar again until recently. I don't know if he ever notified you of that or not... I'm sure he could finish Kens theme up pretty quick now, though. ;)

All tracks are in and the webpage is being setup. Now pay attention, because this is very important:
I need a facial shot from each of you, a cropped photo showing only your face, one you might not be surprised to find on a character select screen, were you to be in one, as though you were a fighting game character, hint hint. Make sure it looks good at about twice the size of an Overclocked ReMix forum avatar.
Send your photo, along with your country, state and city of residence to richter@paletteswap.com, and cc it to shael.riley@gmail.com. If you don't get that data to me by Saturday, I reserve the right to erroniously represent you as a stick figure from France.

Yeah, I can see. Uh, I'll tell you want, lemme format these tags consistantly, just to make sure everything is set. The URLs should have the project homepage, not just "www.ocremix.org." If there isn't a project URL already settled for (I didn't check, so just let me know) then I'll find out what djp will do and tag it up with that info. Plus there are a ton of minor inconsitancies, lemme just do it up tonight and host a copy for someone to grab and provide to the mirrors.
Also, is there a track order, or it's just gonna go alphabetically? Right now, nothing's named or tagged with track #s, so I'm just asking.
Also, Shael, what's up with "Blood on the Asphalt: a tribute to Street Fighter 2?" The A is capitalized, because the colon is separating two formal titles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colon_%28punctuation%29#Usage), i.e. the title and the subtitle. Whatever the first word is after the colon, even if it was "A," "An," or "The" after the colon, you capitalize it.
