Great idea, I LOVE the Street Fighter soundtrack! Too bad I'm not a remixer. Anyway, I bet this project's gonna be awesome. Good luck and happy remixing to all of you!

Sweet! I do a bit of remixing and arranging, but probably not at a high enough level to be worth including for this project. Maybe I'll try my hand at Akuma's theme and we'll see if it comes out as anything more than pure garbage... I suppose you can count me in as interested.
Regardless, I love Street Fighter 2's music, and will definitely be interested in hearing how this turns out! :) Good luck.

Mr Riley this is the first project I've been interested in...I'm no remixer, but this is basically a show of support for your idea, best of luck SF2 is second to none, well, perhaps Third Strike.
Godspeed, Shael. May this noble effort count towards your community CV and and positively contribute to your judgefgt prospects!

Wow, that's some sweet tunage Mythril Nazgul, as always. It's times like these I wish I had some musical talent to be able to create some form of remix but alas, I am teh suck. However this is looking to be a really awesome project and I wish all the remixers luck and I thank Shael for thinking up such a kickass idea. Best of luck to you all.

jeez Mythril, you've got half a WIP before most of us knew the project existed :)
Project sounds like fun Shael. I believe I'd like to take some of that Chun Li's stage goodness.

Meh, I was up till early this morning, saw Shael's thread.
A bit bored so I spent a few minutes on a WIP. It isn't too neat (the lead synth sounds terrible and :41 seems a bit off) but it's less than 20 minutes of work.
You in on this, man?

WOW! Very nice. :)
Clean up the lead a little and take of those clipping problems and this will be tight!
We'll all be voting--as long as there's enough remixing manpower to continue--on who gets what tracks based on WIPs so I can't promise you this track off the bat but you have a very strong WIP to put you in the running, assuming you even get any competition.

This project isn't the OCR panel. Why not make and submit something for the fun of it anyway? Your older stuff still rocks, you know...Even years after.

Thanks, but... sorry Myth. After listening to the whole soundtrack, there's one song that struck an idea in my head. However, that song's been taken. Add to that, the fact that I apparently didn't pay enough attention to all of Shael's text (the idea was orchestral, and from what he wrote, that's not an appropriate genre... especially considering the idea I got), and it looks like I'll be staying out of this one. I'll submit the idea to VGmix when (if?) it gets done.
Good luck guys.

No. I wouldn't feel right causing someone to start over, regardless of how they felt about it. As I said, it's orchestral... slow orchestral, and certainly not high energy. That's not in line with what Shael described.
I didn't read everything as thoroughly as I should have, and that was mistake on my part. If I had, I wouldn't have posted in here in the first place. Anyway, don't worry about it, Myth. You've got a good start going with your mix so far, and I'm not about to fuck with that :)

If I get the notes worked out for the Guile or the Ryu endings, I may take a shot one of them(I'm mainly looking at the Guile one, but still considering Ryu). Knowing me, it probably won't get any further than just some random ideas...and if that ends up being the case, I'll just post them up here to see if someone wants to use them.
I did like Ryu's stage...but I can't do fast and energetic, which is why I'll be sticking to attempting the endings. :P
EDIT: And Myth...damn man! *has been freshly reminded why he looks up to Naz*

Mostly it's because you came up with something that works well after just an hour of work. For me, that's like...playing around with the same 10secs of a song with various instruments/plugins to see which one sounds the best. >_>

You're more than welcome to cover both tracks, however I want to have all of the stage music play in succession on the album with the ending music playing in succession after that, so we might have to cut it into two seperate mp3s that don't play in sequence, eliminating the smooth transition from stage theme to ending you may be envisioning.

Actually, I'd like to do Balrog's stage too. I'll only have time for one track though. I'm curious how you plan to insure all the tracks will share the same tonal qualities (as you've said you'd prefer). That might be the deciding factor to which track I choose.

Simple. If I feel a track is not of adequate quality or is of adequate quality but does not meet the mood/tone/genre requirements outlined in my initial post, I won't include it.
If you want to make very short WIPs--so long as they're completed enough to give us a general feel for the song; twenty seconds or so should be enough--I'll be happy to give you my thoughts as to their appropriateness in regards to the project, and I'm sure other people who read this thread will as well.

Still a pretty primitive WIP. Only the intro and the first part of the song are covered.
The idea is to make a hip hop song with a "secret agent" feel to it. The song will probably be getting heavier as it goes on.
Also, Mr. Nazgull will be rapping over it when it's ready!

Myth has a god example of what I'm looking for in a hip-hop remix going into the project. The beat is something you could work out to, or play the game to; the bass is sort of bone gnarly smooth--I don't know what that means but I said it--and the original source tune is very easy to pick out but also very obviously arranged in a unique and creative way. Rats off to ya!

This is bordering on violating the guidelines. It's a cool concept, very nice laid-back R&B but I can't work out to it. If I listened to this to get in the mood to punch somebody in the face, I might give up and go make a sandwhich. The beat needs more street. More street in the beat! I beat my meat! I eat my feet!
But really, it's got to be harder, more upbeat and energetic. Think of a tough guy with a boombox walking past you while you stand on teh street corner. You fear and respect this man because he is a great fighter, wealthy though unemployed and a snazzy dresser; could this man be listening to this WIP? I don't know. Make me say yes with your next revision.
Remember, the genre and mood guidelines are stricter for stage music.
Also, the original melody of the source tune is scarecly present. It's reiterated in truncated form in the intro and then lost; all we get is the chord structure. I hope you plan on adding it back in because it needs to be there.
Sorry to be so critical but I have a vision and this WIP doesn't fulfil it. Also, I'm a jackass. NO(resubmit).
Our AIM conversation says it best:
Red Tailed Fox: YES! Hahuahua... Let's see, things I could do to make this more bad ass: 1 - Make it a little bit faster. 2 - Changing the beat to a more energic one. 3 - Adding decent melody (it's there, Im telling you, is just the chosen synth that doesn't show it... What more?
Mr Shael Riley: Just keep changing it until it makes you want to punch somebody in the face.

Uh...and sorry for my bad english.
I like your vaguely eastern orchestral and cinematic sounding take on the Zangief theme. Reminds me of some of my favorite Wuxia film's scores.
The drumline gives it some energy and it's very upbeat once it gets going, but the breadth of dynamics and tempo changes make me hesitate to punch someone in the face. I start listening and it gets fast and I'm like "Yeah! Here I go!" and I ball up a fist but then then you have the cymbal crash comes in and the tempo retards and you have a lilting string rendition of the melody and I'm like "Aw... I don't wanna punch someone now!"
I love what you're trying to do, seriously. I'm listening to this WIP again because I enjoy it, but it doesn't meet the tone mood and genre requirements the project has for a stage music remix.
Is there any way I could pursuade you to remix a non-stage song from the OST in this style? It's really captivating.
(also, all of your samples are too dry, especially the strings. Reverb please.)

Iīm pretty sure about what youīre saying. As you know, itīs a WIP. And I will do it more better. If you want me on this project, I will go! But if not, so patiently.
Anyway, thanks for your time! :)

Ok Shael, you wanted more energy. You wanted me to punch someone, but leave the punching to guy's like Guile or Ken ok? Cammy has always been the i-can-break-your-neck-and-make-you-enjoy-it type of girl, so yeah, I did made it mor bad ass. Hope it's better now :D

Nah, I'm not really, although I did get in a lot of fights as a kid. I'm from Middletown, tri-state area. It's About an hour and a half from Brooklyn, where I do have some family. I was raised in a middle class home that transitioned to lower middle class when my father died at age 11, but I can't say I'm from the streets proper.
I do go to Chinatown sometimes, though. Chinatown's hardcore.
Anyway, Street Fighter.

I've been seeing this thread on gen disc for some time now but the idea of this being a remixing project of the ssf2t ost never passed through my head.
So I was like.. "I'm bored... wut? ssf2? oh a thread by shael riley.. this must be sum fun shit."
But even then I didn't think it was another remixing project, until I read the first post.
ANYWAYS!! I've got my hands busy right now with the S&K project and with Kirby one too, so I'm kinda interested in tackling the cammy stage song and the blanka stage song but not right now. But if you give me a few months, I'll give them a try.
Good luck.

Hey! That's OK. You should choose your first choice of songs to remix; that way you'll do the mix you want and, consequently, probobly a better mix than you would have if you settled for a song you weren't as inspired by.
I'm confident we'll be able to get representation for every single one of these tracks. From the obscure "End of Vs. Mode" to the obiquitous "Ryu's Stage." It's quality I'm most concerned about at this point. Everyone do the best mix you can and do the one you most want to do; indeed, in the initial post there are previsions in place for you to do just that. No compromises! Punch in the face!
I hope this turns out well, Mr. Riley.

Hahah...I guess I'm either going to need to pick up some more soundfonts of finally figure out how to use the oscilators and other generators...'cause what I have soundfont-wise wouldn't make anyone wanna punch anybody, other than me for making a mix not of the right genre.
Time to go read the tut files...

Hmmm... I've been working on something for T.Hawk's stage music but I'm not sure if it will meet your "punch in the face" criteria. While working on it, I couldn't help but make it in a South Western style kinda like the original track(heh, anyone who's listened to my mixes would know I'm a sucker for that syle :) ). It does have a bit of a hard edge to it - I guess it sort of has a Tarantino/Rodriguez "punch in face" feel it.
Anyway, here's what I have at the moment (http://www.vurez.com/arrange/t_hawk.mp3).
I don't like 0:45-0:57 (will probably replace that part with something else).

Solid. I like it.
EDIT: I personally think that adding hiphop drums would would take away from the atmosphere of the piece. However, one way to add a bit more "face punching" might be to add some higher-energy, heavier brass. Maybe? I really have no idea when it comes to music composition (I tend to just listen to it rather than make my own), but that's my suggestion.

Oh, dude! This is awesome! I've always thought of T-Hawk's stage as a low point in the SSF2:T soundtrack but this track has comepletely changed my mind. You have taken the T-Hawk track and brought out the dormant awesome that has always been. I think I could punch someone in the face to this, but I'd be more likely to listen to this while driving away after having punched someone in the face. Could I pursuade you to try incorporating some hip-hop elements to this already stunning WIP? It's a fucking rocking track and I doubt anyone will submit another T-Hawk's Stage remix, let alone one with a snowball's chance in hell of dethroning this one, but if you want to make it more continuitous in terms of genre with the rest of the album, you might consider trying to infuse the song with some hip-hop drum loops as you continue to work on it and/or fatten up the bass. Another option would be to keep working that hard edge--the "Tarintino" one"-- that's present already until it really becomes prevailent. Either way
YES OVERRIDE.
I think I've punched about five people in the face from listening to this song already.

Cool. Alright, I'll see if I can work some of those ideas in. This one is progressing nicely and at a good pace, so I'll probably have time for another mix! Perhaps DeeJay or Dhalsim (from the looks of things, no ones shown interest in any of those yet?)... I'll let you know later.

This one's pretty cool; reminds me of what John Wayne, or some other Western bad-ass guy's theme should be like. The claps from 0:14 to 0:41 are a bit detracting, though; they come too often, and when I heard the first one it sounded way too much like static. :S Personally, I think it sounds best without them in there, but at least change the sound choice from clapping.
So yeah...other than that, sweet job there, Vurez.

Very good work Vurez. The bell is especially a treat and it all has a feel of an old western high-noon shootout. It brings much pride to the Thunderfoot tribe.

I noticed something odd about projects like this one:
Very few remixers post their WIPs in the WIP forum.
Is there a specific reason for that?
Because I think you would get much more feedback that way and the thread would be less cluttered. Also, interested listeners wouldn't have to browse through the whole thread.

One suggestion I'd like to give to people is to, beyond the SSF2 SPCs, also check out the full Super Street Fighter II Turbo soundtrack. All of the themes have been beefed up with additional support instrumentation, and honing in the patterns on those instruments could easily give you ideas on variations you could do in the background of your mixes in order to fill them out further. I'll try and snag the soundtrack and temporarily host it for y'all so that someone else can mirror it for project purposes.

Issues I'm aware of thus far:
A full minute to get started? Dunno about that. Some of the percussion is a little harsh. Clips in a few spots. The initial sub-bass has just a tad too much bass. A few of the synth transitions are sloppy. Not sure if I like the lead.

Okay, I've made my mix a little bit more refined. It still has a ways to go. And seeing as I'm getting a job pretty soon, I may or may not have a lot of time during the day to work on it. So updates may be few & far between. Anyway, here it is.

Sounds messy and chaotic with all those verbed hi-hats and overly distorted synths. I dig the strings, though. Good call giving them the melody.

I've been in Baltimore for the past three days attending the release party of and finishing up my voicework for Neon FM (http://www.neonfm.com/).
I'll email McVaffe and let him know about the project, on the off chance that he might have time to contribute something to it. I might also challenge him to meet me at Chinatown Fair for a few rounds, since we both live in New York.
Right now I'm not going to say I'm going to cover any tracks but as the rounds progress and the track list gets more and more full, you can bet I'll step up and do what needs to be done to get every single track represented.
Good luck on your ReMixes. I'll check back in with you next week.

Cool intro. Gonna have a lot of nitpicks. When a mix is this good, there's not much else you can do but nitpick.
Something about the beat in the beginning makes it sound a little generic; perhaps too much reverb. The initial bass could be sharper. I LOVE that bass synth or whatever at 0:48. After that until 1:28 is pretty forgettable, but that's gonna happen in a mix this long. After 1:28 is pure sweet. Nice introduction of the other instruments, nice layering. The synth at 2:12 is out of place imo. The rhodes or whatever that hits at 2:58 fits perfectly; nicely done. Same with the chords at 3:34. The break at 4:11 is excellent. The initial bridge is awkward, and remains awkward but is still pretty well done. That bass is goddamn perfect. Nice. Bleh, those tossed-in crashes at around 5:30 smack of a stagnant beat.
Overall, this is smoooooth. It's a prime example of a NEAR great mix. When a mix is this good, it's extremely difficult to say what differentiates this from, say, a McVaffe mix. But it's definitely not quite as good (less tweaked, less refined). Keep in mind, though, that simply being compared to a McV mix is like saying your mix is one of the best out there.
VERY well done. I look forward to hearing what Myth can do with it. I hafta say though that this wouldn't make me want to punch anybody... (do we care? :))

Daniel Baronowsky has submitted a WIP of Ryu's Ending that really exemplifies what I'm looking for in an ending theme. Now, this isn't to say it's the only way to go about doing one--Myth's more ubeat take on Cammy's ending stands as testament to this--but if you're considering trying an ending theme and are short on ideas or a little confused about the mood and genre guidelines, you might want to listen to his WIP:

OK. Guys, I am super sorry. I don't know why I said the deadline was last Saturday. I wasn't even drunk. I screwed up the dates. June 4th is next Saturday and I can't apologize enough to anyone who got thrown off by my mistake. Sometimes I just confuse time. dur dur. The first Deadline's NEXT Saturday, June 4th. I'd originally said:
Hey, kids.
Tonight's the deadline.
I'll be checking for your submissions and contacting people who declared intention but did not produce and possibley striking their names from the track list, looking for people to replace them, seeing what's up etc....
Expect an update of some signifigance when I return home Monday. I'm away again this weekend. Hope who celebrates the holiday is having a happy holiday.
Needless to say, I'm holding off on contacting absentee submitters until the actual deadline, June 4th. A dur dur. buh.
Also, I finally got in touch with McVaffe and, like I promised you I would, and he politely declined, as he'd already done several Street Fighter arrangements and is a little burnt out on not only remixing SF music but on VG mixes overall. He was pretty cool about the whole thing and suggested we might meet in China Town to play a few games of SF2, though. DCT, I'm looking at you. :-p

You might wanna try to send him via AIM (altough Shael has been really busy, and hardly on AIM). If you want I can send Shael the remix as soon as he is on (I have to send him my WIP also) my AIM adress is: Red Tailed Fox (duuuuuh).
About your mix:
The arrengment surpasses the execution. I like the intro idea, altough I think the chosen synths need to be worked to sound less dry, the Intro copuld be way more developed.
The biggest problems are drums here. No, sorry, the biggest problem here is the Hatz and Crashes you chose. They sound very dry, and the dinamics doesn't change at all... These guys need some work on. And I think they are appearing to much. Overall it is going good so far. :)

Thank you, everyone who submitted a mix before the deadline. We've got some very solid material and we're finally passing the formative stages of the project; that is to say, we have a base pool of talent involved and we've established a feel for what kind of songs the project will contain and how the project will progress towards completion.
What we need now are some finished tracks, which I know a few of you are nearing. I'm very excited at this stage and I'm going to be adding a new color to the tracklist to indicate finished and accecpted arrangements as soon as one is available. So, those of you nearing completion, get to it. :)
Do it for the glory! Do it for the honor! Do it because I asked nicely.
As a few people have dropped out or grown silent, we're going to need some fresh blood to replace them. Please don't hesitate to spread word about this around. It's great to work with up-and-coming "scenesters" and I'm sure some of you have some untapped friends. I'll be contacting some people who took interest initially but then disapeared. Also, I'll be inviting some more established arrangers, who I have contact with, to be involved in the project.
I apologize for my absense on AIM as of late. I'm in the process of begining a new job and working on an album of original music. If you need to contact me, the best ways are via a private message on the OCR forums, or via my email adress: shael.riley@gmail.com.
I'll provide feedback for everyone who made the deadline by the end of Monday.
Thanks again and keep up the punch-in-the-face work.

Red Tailed Fox and Myth's new version:
There's a note that hangs a little too long at 2:15 and becomes dissonant; this is a very minor nit-pick. I still love this track.
The arrangements right where it needs to be and I'm very happy about that. Great work, Red Tailed Fox.
Myth's vocals are strong but that stereo panning delay makes the overpower the instrumntal. I'd like you to get rid of that effect. There are also a few places where they're a little too off beat; I appreciate syncopation and there's something to be said for the enjoyable aspects of sloppy vocals, but it seems like there a few places where you just mess up that mar an otherwise tight performance.
I'd like to help you work your vocal tracks over, Myth. If you're using a different-take-for-each-line recording technique, which it sounds like you are, there's a fairly simple, albeit time consuming, way to fix timing errors by doing chopping and beatmatching in Acid Pro. I'll talk to you more about this in a PM. I'm certainly not going to push it on you if you'd prefer to do it "raw."
Can't wait to hear it with the gitz. This is one of our flagship tracks.

I must say, I'm really interested in this idea. It'll be nice to see how it'll turn out.
On a side note, I have the OST for SSFIITurbo PC which contains each track remade for the PC  . The version of Guile Stage on it is just awesome 8) .

I realized yesterday, while playing Street Fighter Anniversary Collection that the Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo title theme is not the same song used on the Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers title screen. I've added the SSF2T theme as the 51st track on our list.

Ok, I've made just under 1:30 of Sagat's Stage so far - not sure if it's suitable, and plus I suck at drum programming (apart from for metal) .
Before I upload anything I might see if I can make the drum samples better too, but the synth, bass and guitar sound pretty nice IMO.
Need to add a little more originality too, this will be coming after the 1:24 mark.
 nesper - downloading your track right now.
Edit: nesper, I like what you have so far, one thing I notice is that the soft bass that comes in at 0:07 sounds pretty detuned and it's really off putting :? . At 0:46 maybe have something to thicken out the mix a little, but not stand out as the listener needs to be paying attention to the lead - perhaps a quiet, light pad?. The detuned bass is even more noticable when it's playing along side the phasing lead sound at 0:57. But those are my only two gripes.

hey thnx for tha comments can't wait to hear your mix. i've already got a couple more pieces to put together with tha song...i just have to figure out how i want to arrange it. i have an intro that i made the other day so i'm planning on putting tha part you heard at least 30 secs into tha track if not a full minute. i've also got some more instruments that i've added and tha pad was a good suggestion cuz it was one that i added already. i can also hear what you are saying about tha bass and i thank you for bringing that to my attention. will fix accordingly. peace.

Just got a chance to listen to your WIP. Good stuff. It's my favorite of rave-esque submissions so far. We're getting a good balance of hip-hop and trance/breakbeat style electronica: both urban genres.
Hopefully we'll get some hard rock in here soon.

I've kind of come to a brick wall with this mix, Sagat's stage. The beginning is just awesome, and it has some good parts in it, but the rest of it sucks and I can't really add much to it. I may post what I have on here, or I may just scrap it and start from scratch (or both).
Anyway, I'm pretty good at lead guitar and make up riffs in a similar style to Necrophagist (http://www.necrophagist.de/) (a freaking awesome band). I have really crap recording gear though, so if I make up anything I'll upload it as a Powertab File (*.ptb) (http://www.power-tab.net/) and hopefully someone here can play/record it.

OK. Heard your remix and was initially very pleased with your subtle expansion and re-interpretation of an amazingly under-played theme in the scene which has always been one of my favorite. You do a good job of expounding on the short but sweet melody and give us some much-needed rock representation, preserving and intensifying the original mood of the piece in a way that could make this track a candidate to lead off our album with atmosphere and style,
BUT
--and this is a big but--
You have some very serious production issues. As it stands, I wouldn't include this in the finished product. Your drums are plastic-sounding and not-at-all compressed. The brass synth you're using is dry as Protricity's grandmother and sounds terrible. Everything in the mix is pulled towards the middle frequencies. You need a serious upgrade of your production values.
Unfortunately, this is my week area as an arranger/composer and I can't offer very much in the way of constructive suggestion, except for this:
Consider making this into a collaboration with someone who's an accomplished producer and/or guitarist, someone who can help you choose a better sonic pallette to really do justice to your solid arrangement.

We have a slight problem.
James and Jivemaster have both remixed the same song, seemingly unbeknownst to them, as James credits his source tune as the original Street Fighter 2 title theme (correctly) and Jivemaster credits his as the Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo title screen (which actually has different music). They're both very strong mixes and I'm not going to cut either of them. I've decided that since the source tune is, essentially, the main theme from the game, having one arrangement of it to open the album up and another to close it, so long as they are signifigantly differentiated from each other, would not be a bad thing, but we will need someone to do the Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo title screen theme, a track which is not in the Zophar SPC.
Does anyone know where we could get an accurate version of the original Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo title screen theme for use as a source tune?

Hi,
I'm a new guy here. I've been watching this thread since the beginning (and actually, the main reason I joined the forums is so I could keep up with it). This is a very cool project, thank you for starting it.
Anyway, I have an mp3 of the SSF2T opening theme (ripped from the Street Fighter Collection). I also have Akuma's theme, if you need that.
As for having two remixes of the same song, you could technically call one the original SF2 theme, and the other SSF2T character select theme (since it's a remix of the SF2 theme), if you wanted... just a thought...

Hah! I like the cut of your glib.
While calling the two themes by different names would be technically correct, it's precident to credit a song, when arranged, by it's original title, at least in the VG arrangement community. But really, I'm pretty pleased with the idea of putting one at the begining and one at the end of the album to wrap up the package.
Anyway, thanks for your interest and offer. If you could host the songs or email or AIM them to me so I could host them, that would help everyone involved.

An astute observation, Tasty. However, in the interest of vermisilitude, I intend to keep Ken's Ending Part 2 (The Wedding March from Marriage of Figaro) on our tracklist. In fact, I aim to get a "famous" remixer to do it, as a conceptual joke. Besides, that very same standard is violated by DJ P's own Sailormoon Ravebody, undeniabley one of the best and gayest songs in the archive.
And don't worry about it if you're having a hard time with your track. If you're not feeling it, don't force it. Either give it a rest and come back to it when you're feeling some inspiration or, if you suspect no amount of inspiration you're likely to run into in the near future will be sufficient to take the track where you want it to go, don't feel bad about abandonning it. Just let us know as soon as you decide, if that is, indeed, the case.
You can always try your hand at one of the twenty-plus remaining songs. Blanka's theme is a pretty hot track so I'm sure someone would snatch it up right quick if you did decide to switch songs.

To me, SF2's music is pretty much THE definitive video game soundtrack, so naturally, this project is making me very excited. I've listened to some of the WIPs (although at ridiculously low volume as to not getting scolded at by my parents for waking them up in the middle of the night), and this stuff sounds really promising. I really wish I could contribute, but considering I have pretty much no experience remixing or recording music, that's pretty much impossible. I have actually been feeling like getting started on this whole "remixing video game music" thing for a while now, but I think it's fairly obvious this isn't the best venue for first, trembling footsteps... even though it's very likely my first remix, should I ever actually get around to it, might be from SF2. The only thing I realistically could contribute with would be vocals... but then I don't think I really have any decent recording equipment, so, um, that's not really likely to happen either. But I digress. Anyway, best of luck to anyone and everyone involved in this project, and I'm very much looking forward to hearing the results. :)

I havn't worked on mine for a while, it has some problems on the mastering side, and currently takes about 20 mins to load my project file as my PC sucks.
Also I'm working on a piece for RMRB2 which needs to be done sooner. But when I get round to it I'll upload a WIP of my version of Sagat's Stage - don't think it's suitable for this project though tbh; still too much original material in it.

The project certainly isn't dead. It is, rather, as you put it, simopley lacking updates, and that shouldn't be seen as an indication that the project is going through some difficulty. On the contrary, things have actually been going along very smoothly. I'm working with Rama to setup a web page for the project, to be unveiled when we have a good amount of finished material to showcase and I've been in quiet and private but persistant contact with everyone working on an arrangement to submit to us.
So you can see why I haven't updated; there simpley isn't anything I have to say about the project in its public forum at this juncture.
I'll reiterate that we are still looking for artists and that any interested artists should still read the instructions in the first post and follow them if they would like to submit a piece.
I will, of course, post again if there are any major developments, posted questions for me to answer or concerns to adress, and I will be keeping the tracklist updated periodically.
Other than that, all I really have to say about the project is that I'm still pleased with the response its received and I expect it to be finished some time in the next six months.
Thanks for following it so far.

- I just moved from one apartment to the other (and we're still finalizing the leasing papers which should be done in 2-3 weeks).

- I'm trying to manage my website/projects and it's taking more time than I had anticipated.
I apologize for not doing this sooner: I didn't see this thread for a while.

There's no deadline. I've been really relaxed about letting people submit their WIPs at the level of completion and pace they're comfortable with. Do you kids think this could be contributing to our recently stunted progress, having passed the initial concept stages of the project and gotten into the meat of it?
People seem to be very excited, show me an early WIP, and then drop off the face of the earth.
Would it be easier for everyone if I said "get your final WIP in by this date or you're out of the project?"
To me, that would just seem to exclude certain people with demanding schedules or a slow creation process and I don't want to do that, but I will if it's the only way to get results.
Thoughts?

You don't have enough mixers to do that yet. I suggest you go mixer hunting first.

I'm still in. Tohugh at the moment I'm reassesing my track. Deciding on where to take it. I'm thinking more of a Crystal Method type sound.

KFC has the right idea. Start proactively contacting remixers who may not know about this project (if you haven't already). I agree with you in that at this point exclusion is not really an option. Contact those unresponsive people and ask them if they seriously want to be on the project, or if you should just go and get someone else. Be firm about it too. You don't have to exclude them, but keeping in constant contact is always a good idea. It's something I learned the hard way with the Kirby Project.
That said, deadlines ARE good because they give people something to shoot for. Initial WIP deadlines usually call for about a minute of material by a certain date. I would say that when you've got most of your spots filled, you should think about setting up some deadline dates.

I'm in agreement here. I didn't know anything about it until 17 pages of comments were added. Contact DJP and see if he'll give the project a blurb on the front page. You'll have more interest than you can manage.
An alternative to deadlines might be milestone deadlines--say "concept by blah blah," "rough draft by blah blah," etc.

I doubt djp will do that, and if he does, it will have to be till the hype for the Doom project dies down.
