Anything with Brentalfloss is great. This, however, is his best.

K. So I fangasmed... I subscribe to Mr. Floss on youtube so I heard this awhile ago. Little did I know he subbed it to OCR!
Good showing, I liked the piece before, but its awesome that the rest of the VGM community can see the musicality of brentalfloss.
I hope he can put a show on next Mag, he's got skillz.

Awesome, I remember he said he submitted it at one point (on Twitter.) I'm glad to see he made it on here now.
His vocals are great, as well as his piano playing.

I'm subscribed to both Floss and OCR on Youtube, and when I heard this start playing, I recognized it immediately. I'd always wished that Floss would send his stuff here to OC, and when I heard this, I had to come read the write-up right away. Glad he's part of this community.

Brentalfloss. <3<3<3<3<3
It's super awesome to see him here. 2-2 Blues was one of my favorites by him, even if not one of his more humorous pieces. I really enjoyed the piano and the singing, and particularly the lyrics. It's just a... sweet little song? I don't know how else to put it, exactly.
I hope to see more of him here in the future.

Damn, could this dude's vocals match the blues piano anymore? Seriously, this is amazing work. I heard that Randy Newman thing DJP mentioned, but regardless, that just makes this mix even better. Probably the best version of the Underwater theme I've ever heard.

I've been a fan since I got linked to his stuff a couple of months ago, and I have to say that this seems quite different from a lot of his other material. Regardless, it's a nice piece and certainly a tribute to his skills.
Good job! :nicework:

Brent is a long overdue addition to the hallowed halls of OCR. Beautiful.

"There's a prince for you, and it's-a me."
Priceless. Loved it.
Exceptionally classy, yet still humorous lyrics. Brent can do it all, it seems. I wish the mic was a little closer to him for the recording, but he's still audible, and overall this is a great mix. :-)

Okay, THAT was frickin' awesome. Wow. Instantly one of my favourite OCRemixes of all time. Just... peerless.
edit: having listened to it a zillion times, the only complaint I can find is there's some pretty evident noise reduction artifacts on the vocals... at least to my ears...?

This is one of the best ReMixes I've downloaded from OCR in a long time. Pure awesome.

This is the first remix with lyrics that i like. The "its-a-me" part made me laugh.
Good job. well done. Keep it up.

I'm not a fan of blues, really, but this is still obviously quality stuff and I did enjoy it. The lyrics are very cute and I'm definitely getting the Toy Story vibe, whether or not it had been intended. Great work!

Love the alternative harmonies and the IV-iv's. Very nice- lyrics pay perfect homeage to Mario and are pretty clever-funny.
Instant fave.

Vocals are too dry and cold. Dunno if it's noise reduction, but the recording sounds like it's made inside a tin can. Which is a shame, because I think I would have really enjoyed this piece otherwise. There's nothing wrong with the perfomance or the piano. Some EQ and reverb on the vocals would have done it, I think.

'It's a me' made me go 'awwww...' Similar to the kind of video game cover I'd like to make.

For the record: I dislike Randy Newman. He's got talent, and is creative enough, I just don't like the music he makes for the most part. Even if it is emotionally stirring.
Thus, I have an innate dislike of this track from a perspective of taste. Still, this is well executed, thoughtful, creative, and you are a really good singer for what you are doing! So it's not going on any of my playlists, but I still liked it enough to listen through, and feel a little bit warmer and fuzzier.

This is a bit different from Brent's usual works. If you want to hear stuff more along the lines of what he usually does, you need this. http://brentalfloss.bandcamp.com/

Definitely hearing Randy Newman in there.
The piano performance is wonderful, the vocals are good (though a bit quiet), and the lyrics are just pure awesome. Lines like "you're in someone else's castle" and "it's-a-me" are perfect.
And I agree with djp; we need more blues piano in here.

Ah, sweet. I actually really dig the rest of his work. Kind of feeling a Johnathan Coulton vibe in it.

This was such a pleasant surprise to see on the site! A pleasure to listen to, and shows incredible character ingrained into the piano and vocals.
The piano playing is smooth, but that's not really what this mix is about. It's about the lyrics and singing. This song has clever lyrics with great execution.
Needless to say, this song was awesome. <3 it.

I'm not really a blues fan myself but this goes to say, never judge a song only by it's "style"... And the mix between the music and the lyrics just makes it all worth while! Pleasure to my ears!
