Sixto, you're doing awesome so far. You just officially joined this thing two weeks ago and you're already almost done! (If only everyone could be like that :P) You're definitely not someone I'm worried about, since you've already surpassed mine and Lea's expectations. Keep up the great work, man!

Hey, can I request a slight extemption? My guitar is royal fucked at the moment. I can get it fixed, I just have to gather up the money.
Hah, I'll be usurping yer soloing then!
Kyle, please refrain giving nascency to domesticated ungulates. If my good faith in humanity (ahem) proves accurate, people are working on their songs until the due date in order to present to you the nicest work.

Hehe, actually, there's a thread in UnModerated, where people are being assigned to their Greek god equivalents (I'm Hesperus). I don't want to ruin your project with my horrid lack of musical skill. :P

I'm currently in the process of talking to a lot of folks about the status of their songs, and when that's done, I'll be assigning a new due date. Also, I'm working on finding remixers for the tracks that people have been dropped/removed from recently. Expect some news on that soon.
Speaking of which, how are you able to find people that would help out with some of the unattended tracks? I'm moderately concerned I have to drop a lot of people from the first WIP date for Children of Erdrick if they don't show me any first musical ideas unless they request a time extension :?

I talk to people who I haven't spoken to yet about the project (or have asked me to keep them in mind as a backup), show them the available song(s), and go from there. ;)
Speaking of, Master Link made the decision to drop from the project last week. Claado Shou has decided to pick up Hydropolis. Whether he wants lyrics from you or not, Rexy, is entirely up to him. :P
And knowing the deal with Chrono Symphonic, I feel that he'd rather work alone for it. :(
But still, if I have time I could look through some of the dropped tracks and occupy another. If I do I'll get back to you.

Well, the one other dropped track is currently in negotiations with a certain someone who will remain unnamed. But I'll add you down for backup just in case. :)

Wuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut.
I'd be glad to do a collab with you, Rexy. I'm not familiar with any of your work, unfortunately, but considering others' opinions of you I can assure myself it's good. The "deal" with Chrono Symphonic was over ellywu's pieces, not something I was doing...I'm always up for a collab with someone.
Let's work something out later this week, eh? I'll PM you later.

So I *didn't* piss you off? ah, apologies
Still, best of luck with your work Claado. I'm interested to see what you have to the table.

Sorry I haven't really been keeping up on checking on everyone's status. Been busy lately, and it doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon. I really, really need you guys that are behind on submitting something for the WIP due dates to get something to me as soon as you can. We need to work together, because I can't keep up harping on everybody like I used to. If you have missed a WIP due date or two, please PM me a status update or submit a WIP as soon as possible. There are a couple people that are dangerously close to being removed from this project, and if you don't want that to happen, you need to keep myself or Lea updated. Please help us out by doing your part, so we can make this project a reality!

UPDATE
Joe Cam's Earthbound project (http://earthbound.joecam.net/) took two months to complete, from inception to final release. Our project has been moving, slowly but surely, for the last six months. The level of professionalism and overall quality of most everyones work so far has been great, but I think we really need to step up the speed a bit. As such, I have evaluated the current status of the project, and given this a lot of thought. After careful consideration, I have determined that for the most part (you will be contacted by me personally if I feel you need extra time), the final due date for all FINISHED songs will be January 2nd, 2006. Here, I'll reiterate it in gigantic letters:
ALL SONGS MUST BE COMPLETED BY JANUARY 2ND, 2006.
This means that, yes, the project will, at best, be released sometime between then and the end of February, 2006. At worst, my original prediction of sometime during the spring will still stand.
I feel that we have progressed enough so far that most of, if not all of those involved with this project will be able to meet this final due date. The current WIP due date of November 13th still stands, and there will be one more WIP (although by then you should be nearing completion) due date in mid-December.
If there are any problems with this final due date, please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks, guys! Let's get this thing done!

It's too difficult to promise anything anymore. Immediately after my thesis is done I have to pack and move back home, and then pack and move a few thousand kilometres out west to a place where I might not have access to my own computer for three or four weeks. Now maybe this might not be the case (maybe I'll get a laptop or something and my ass'll be saved) but since it *might*, you're better off finding someone else instead of hoping that some time after I return home and before I move out west, I can finish a song (a final version of a song no less), find Internet access with which to upload it, and then ensure it's up to the quality that the rest of the project is at.
The variables are much too foggy for me to be able to promise a final version of a track to you for January 2nd. So instead of saying that I can and will do it and maybe missing that date, I'd rather just say that I can't and not hold up your project.
Sorry people.

And here I figured the announcement of the final due date would send people into a clamoring frenzy to finish work on their songs. Or at least that's what I was hoping would happen. ;P
Anyway, got a WIP from Master Hatchet today, which is sounding totally awesome. The WIPs and finished songs are slowly trickling in, so keep up the good work, folks!

I now have a good number of the refills, so I should be pretty good to complete the song well before the completion due date. I've made some changes, right now it sounds worse than the original, but that's because I'm changing parts of the piece to make it sound more consistant (And it's not done yet). I'd gladly give a wip, but I don't think you'll like what you'll hear. I could give a 'presentable' by this weekend. =P
Also, the baby is coming this week, so I'll be taking off of work for a week after the baby is delivered. I'll have a lot of down time, hopefully a time where I can get a good chunk of work done.

UPDATE
We are quickly approaching what will hopefully be the final WIP due date for the Summoning of Spirits project. This is the all-or-nothing, folks. It pretty much goes like this: Show some interest, some progress, or something of the sort, or face a potential (read: most likely) project removal. Some folks that have been sitting on their songs but not showming me any progress for the last six months need to step it up and show that they're interested. Unfortunately, my abilities to discuss the project in a personal matter with most of you has been rather limited for the last several due dates, mostly because I've had many personal changes in the last several months. Please bear with me, and PLEASE, PLEASE keep me updated on your progress if you're not doing so already. The January 2nd final due date, right now, looks like it probably won't hold. Prove me wrong! ;)
The next WIP due date is:
DECEMBER 17TH, 2005
If there is a lack of progress from anyone who hasn't already made good progress on this due date, it is very likely they will be removed from the project. That is all.

New wip from me, coming soon to private WIP forums near you. I'm starting to worry that my song doesn't stick together as a cohesive whole, and that the samples are teh sux. Hopefully with live guitar it will sound a whole helluvalot better.
Anyone got any ideas on where to upload? Soundclick sucks now, and tindeck isn't working... :(

The project is looking good right now, folks. I haven't been around too much due to other commitments at the moment, but all should be back to normal by next week. At least spare the solo. ;p

That solo sounds hideous to me now and I'm not sure why I recorded it that way. :( No substance, just pointless shredding. I need something a bit more melodic. My fingers are doing a little better, but I want to wait until I get my Mesa/Boogie Stilleto head before I record anything.
Dahlia
11-25-2005, 09:51 AM
Naah. I don't like pointless shredding either. Whenever I hear a solo with little melody and it's just a big series of sweeps or runs, I call it a "tech demo solo".
Yours had a bunch of that, but I still enjoyed it.

Just wanted to check in and tell you that the progress of my Iselia mix is going along nicely and there is only the end part which needs work. I fixed all of the "holes" and strange key changes already :)
Geez, only two weeks left until I depart for Germany...two weeks in which I have a Logic test, a Pro Tools test and an overall Audio Engineering theoretical test. it's almost 100% sure I cannot finish my songs in time...

Oh ¥eah....
I thought that I would be able to finish at least the Iselia mix before christmas, but I lost a staggering 250 GB of data - including all my samples - including the strings I wanted to use for that mix - because of a hard drive problem.
Not a real problem because I still have the installers on DVDs, but I don't have any space to install them on right now. It's bugging me a bit, but I have to wait now.
Yeah, I guess I have to get a new hard drive for christmas now :)

UPDATE
Go figure that I decide to do this on the same day Compyfox releases a teaser for Chrono Symphonic. Oh well. :P
I know that a lot of you have been dying to hear the songs on the project, and it's been a long time coming. I figured that, as most of the songs near completion, and that it's the season of giving, that it'd be nice to let the mere mortals not involved with the project get a chance to hear what we're cooking up for you guys. ;) Keep in mind that some of the songs featured here aren't completed, and some may change completely by the time the final project is released. However, this is a good indicator of what a good percentage of the final songs will sound like.
Alright, I'll shut up now. Here it is: The Summoning of Spirits ReMix Project Preview Teaser (www.kylejcrb.com/talesproject/SummoningOfSpiritsPreviewTeaser.mp3)!
The track order:
KyleJCrb - Teaser Intro
EgM - Tales of Symphonia (from Tales of Symphonia)
Ichitootah - Raine's Theme (from Tales of Symphonia)
Hale-Bopp - Be Absentminded (from Tales of Phantasia)
CC Ricers - Sheena's Theme (from Tales of Symphonia)
Sir NutS (feat. Usa) - Biting Cold (from Tales of Phantasia)
Sixto Sounds - The Second Act (from Tales of Phantasia)
Soraya - Forest of the Treant (from Tales of Phantasia)
Luiza & CarboHydroM - Fatalize (from Tales of Symphonia)
Nick Tam - Dry Trail (from Tales of Symphonia)
Joker - Freeze (from Tales of Phantasia)
Seattle OverCoat - Abyss of Thor (from Tales of Phantasia)
Master Hatchet - Like A Glint of Light (from Tales of Symphonia)
Usa - Desert Flower (from Tales of Symphonia)
XMark - Sylphis (from Tales of Phantasia)
Christian Pacaud - It Can Waver And Fight (from Tales of Symphonia)
PriZm - Final Destination (from Tales of Symphonia)
Enjoy! :)

WIPS ARE DUE TODAY!
Most of you, with the exception of those that I've discussed this with, should be near completion of your tracks. We're slowly edging closer and closer to getting this thing completed, so please do your part and get your tracks to me ASAP. If you need to email them, please send your songs to KyleJCrb@gmail.com. If you have web hosting, a PM here will suffice. Thanks, everyone! If you're not sure you need to send me a WIP or not, check the track status list on the first page. Looking over the current project status (which I just updated to be a little bit more concise and clear about whether you've turned in a WIP or not), I've determined that, unless you're all holding back and waiting until the last second before you show me anything (or I've already talked to you about it), that not all of you will be finished by January 2nd. Now, don't panic; I'm not going to remove most of you. I have no intentions of releasing this project in January (although it would be nice ;)), which is why I built in a buffer between the final song due date and the project release. I would LIKE finished songs by January 2nd, but in a lot of cases, I don't feel that this is going to happen. Sooo, it goes like this:
If you're close to complete, I'd like to hear a finished song from you by the original due date. If you're not close to complete, I'd like to hear a WIP from you by that due date. Since a lot of you are really progressing and getting close to finished with your works, most of you will not face a possible removal at this due date if you don't meet the objective. However, those of you who have not been actively contacting me and sent me at least one WIP since joining this project (newer remixer additions are exempt; I'll be talking to newer remixers about this) face an extremely likely chance of being removed from the project. It's been over 7 months since this project has begun, and a few of you have been sitting on your track for that entire time, showing no progress. I've been lenient about it, but I can't keep remixers on board who aren't going to work anymore. I'll stay in touch with most of you.
BTW, for the curious: We're looking at a late February/early March release date. Hopefully this will give the remixers a ballpark figure to work with. Good luck, guys and gals. :)

I hope there isn't a song length limit. This song may end up being 8-10 minutes.
KyleJCrb
01-03-2006, 05:05 PM
Length isn't of too much concern with us. 4-7 has been the average, but there's a couple that extend beyond that, which, while not exactly eligible for OCR at that length, are just fine for this project. :)
Just so you know I will fine tweak my contribution when I return to campus. I know I have a lot to do, but I will at least provide another "finalised demo", haha.
Also, Robbie told me to send this message to you. He's currently spending winter break with an uncle as well as juggling a new job shift.
Could you also let KyleJCRB know that I'll also send him the WIP as soon as I get back... apoligize for me... I've been trying to access OCR on this comp, but it's a bit iffy.
Anyways, I should be back in a week:D
Again, I apoligize...
Hope this is okay. and... what kind of record are you going on those deleted wikis? ;)

Anyone mind commenting on my WIP in the private forums?
Note that there are some harmony/compositional issues, and I use midi sounds for half of it at the moment; but it's basically my equivalent of WIP1 after being invited onto the project at a late stage.
Should have WIP2 ready by the start of next week, and then most (around 3/4) of the composition will be done. I plan to have completed the arrangement about half way through that week so I can start working on production, and begin to tab out my guitar parts for any guitarists.
Cheers

UPDATE
Alright, folksies. The time has come. I know I probably threw you all for a loop before with the last "final" WIP due date, but that won't happen again. Word through the grapevine is that the next, and LAST (meaning final) completed song due date will be on this date:
FEBRUARY 23RD, 2006
Keep in mind that this is also Lea's birthday, so get her a nice birthday present in the form of a finished song, won't you? :P
But really: This will hopefully be the last due date before the project release, which I would like to be in early March (do some research and you'll understand why), but don't worry: I haven't forgotten that ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN, so if you're anticipating this project, make sure you anticipate it to be released in March 5 years from now, just so you aren't disappointed. :P
The whip has been cracked, and I will be contacting a lot of you heavily in the next several weeks to push for completed songs. It's time to kick things into high gear and get to work on your tracks, folks!
Sir, yes sir! Thanks for the finalised date, and I'll be sure to work on it in the coming weeks :)

I have a major temporary problem, it's not with the final date, it's just in general for me. My PC which I use to compose non-electronic pieces on overheated last night. To continue working on my piece I'll have to get the harddrive out and put it in this one (if my solution of attaching new contacts to the processor doesn't work).
Just thought I'd let you know if I seem slow over these next few days. It also means I have limited PC access, because the PC I'm using now is not mine.

Uhn... I'll think about it. I don't quite have the money to fix it at the moment, but I'll see if I can't get it running by the needed time :D
Ah, and on a randomer note:
For a class last year we had an assignment of writing poetry. I wrote a song lyric (works as a poem too) that was about Presea. If the person doing Presea's theme (is that Rexy?) cares at all, I could forward it on? I'm sure it would need to be changed a bit, but another lyrical track can't hurt, maybe? Just an idea.
Even though the idea does sound interesting, I know that people are going to shoot me down for getting my vox exposed again. >.> I also saw the reaction to Pixietricks's vocal tracks for CS, which were half-positive half-ugh as far as I saw, and I seem to be a little shaken over it.
Still, I *might* have a look. Is there any way you can PM the poetry to me? I'll see if I can take a look at it and see what I can do.
And... I swear your name sounds familiar. Are you on DA by any chance? If you were I think you were one of the first people I watched O_o

As February is fast approaching, I was just wondering, Rexy, if you got the PM I sent awhile ago. Cause if you didn't, I could send it again.
Still anxiously awaiting a release...
I have it; while I may have problems on trying to incorporate it was still very thoughtful of a suggestion :)

As an interesting observation: How the hell has this thread gotten 28,000 views? That's a heck of a lot!
Yeah...still looking for a remixer for Last Battle ~Decision~. Finding good remixers at the 11th hour is hard. :? I'm thinking of opening auditions for it, and if you can prove yourself awesome enough to take on the track (and can finish it relatively quickly), it's yours. :P

You aren't the only one getting a rush of people asking repeatedly when your project is going to be done.
As the project gets closer and closer to the end, people get a little impatient *sp* and want it asap.
It is a tad annoying, but hey, at least we got a huge ammount of fans excited to see our projects :)

We had certain expectations that would need to have been met before a release date could be given, and those didn't happen in time, thus the next step couldn't be taken.
Patience. Would you rather we churn out something half-assed?

We set a personal release date goal that was never made public, for this reason. We would've liked to have released the project to coincide with the release of Tales of Phantasia for GBA in the US (finally!), but issues on both mine and Lea's end as well as issues with musicians and songs (the major one being the inability to find and keep anyone with Last Battle) proved to consume time and prevent release on our target date. Right now, I am personally aiming to get this out sometime in April, which will be roughly 1 year after this project was initially conceived. I can't make any promises, but if everything works out as planned, a project release may happen sometime in April or May.
As for the next due date: We're looking into our options. It'll be announced soon enough.

Usa: I think our timing just really bad and our time zones don't coincide (not to mention that I've been at work more than I've been at home lately, it seems like). If you can host the song anywhere, you can PM me a link to it. If not, I'll do what I can this week, and if not this week then I'll definitely be on this weekend.

UPDATE
I know I haven't been able to keep up as much as I used to, with work dominating a good portion of my days (even weekends...), but there are several remixers that have seemingly completely disappeared from the face of the internet, and despite our attempts at contact, we haven't gotten in touch with any of them. I REALLY NEED TO HEAR FROM THESE PEOPLE. Some of them have not updated me on their progress for several months, and are in EXTREME danger of being removed from the project. These are:
Soraya
Claado Shou
CC Ricers
If you're out there, or if you're someone who has seen/had contact with those listed above recently, please let me know. I'd hate to remove a group of remixers who had shown good progress before their disappearance, but in this case, I feel that (unless they contact me) it will be necessary. That is all.
i need guitarist with wah pedal.
contact aim plz.
I know that Pixietricks has had some fair contact with Claado. Maybe I should ask her when I get my remixed VGDJ intro sent to her.

03-17-2006, 10:14 PM
The last I've heard from Claado was this PM that he sent me back on February 12, just shortly after he expressed interest in remixing for Around the World:
Alright, well, I definitely jumped the gun. I thought I would have more time...or more inspiration...but I don't. With 5-7 day work weeks of 12 hours each, I don't have the energy to work on any music. I'm sorry to say, but the Navy is kicking my ass time-wise. Those 2 days off are the only time I have to not go crazy, and I can't afford to utilize them making music.
Again, sorry. I really hope you find someone else to take the song, as it's fun and all to listen to, but the premise of remixing it is a little havy considering my workload. I'll see you all again when the project is released.
~.C.S.~
It's quite possible that he lost the time for this project as well.
KyleJCrb
03-17-2006, 11:34 PM
Hmmm...That would make sense. I'd like to hear from him to be sure, just so I'm not jumping the gun.
Soraya disappeared for awhile back in December as well, and only showed up in January once. I'm a little concerned, because it seemed that he was so enthusiastic about the projects around here, and then vanished almost completely. Very odd...
Still looking for CC Ricers, too. He's very, VERY close to finished with his song, last I'd heard.
PS: Curse you, Walan, for getting the 1000th post! :P
