Rhyhon needs to stay far away from any kind of notion of seeding this :<

Good to hear of the recent progress! Makes me feel gooey inside ^_^

Also... I think they did a great job on character development in ToS. I love all of the 8 party members a lot. I hope that when the sequel comes out on Wii this year that they'll let you have a little time with each of them (and not just have to fight them...). It'd be fuckin' FANTASTIC if they could hire the same voice actors, but... who knows. Nintendo funded the localization for ToS, and I'm not sure they've committed to this one just yet.

ANYWAY, w00t for SoS!

Rexy
02-20-2008, 09:25 PM
Don't worry, that'll pass. Very quickly.
Yeah, you're absolutely right. It's a shame that said party member went through a lot since even the seal of fire, but I suppose we can associate. (If it helps, I'm now in possession of the Rheairds; quick-random-battle-evasion-while-looking-for-treasure, here I come!)

I too seem to have good hope for the follow-up as well. Assuming that the Tales Studio have been consistent, we might see something polished, and even if the voice actors face a change it's not going to bother me because I saw it happen in a lot of franchises I've followed in the past, and I didn't let it get to me. (and seriously, they NEED to bring in Kratos somewhere, even if he wouldn't be used in your character party.)

Kyle, I know you're probably a little late but I'm ready to try one more track to help speed things along. Since The Prophet took my initial proposal for As Time Goes On (it's ok though, I'm sure he can do better than me), I looked in the soundtrack and thought I could do something with The Final Act. Is that okay with you?

I have the same hope too, but if Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology is any indication, we might be in trouble. Scott Menville (Lloyd) and Kari Wahlgren (Raine) were replaced by Brian Beacock and Tara Platt (Tara was Noir/Nebilim in Tales of the Abyss, among many other things) respectively. However, everybody's favorite -- Cam Clarke, as Kratos -- was still around, as was Genis' original VA.

Considering TotW:RM wasn't one of the main games in the series, there's still a chance they'll bring the heavy hitters back in. Either way, as Rexy said, the replacements are generally capable enough to not be a distraction.

Also, yay SoS.

I like Regal's theme. *nudge nudge wink wink*

EDIT: ALSO I don't think I ever said so before, but just the thought of Luiza & Mythril Nazgul teaming up on Zelos' theme gives me goosebumps.

Time to add some brief notifications myself to get some activity going:

- Beated ToS today (woohoo!) and may I say, what a ride :D
- I'm still concerned for some of the slackers, so mind if I take up Vigorous Town? I've got pretty much a free week ahead.
- Continuing to reference to point 1, I am now SO looking forward to hear what LuiZa and CHM have done with Fatalize after hearing it so many times just fighting Abyssion and Seles! Pure genius ;)

I'm hoping to get my Vigorous Town ReMix up to project standards... Don't know if I'll make it in time though. My other song is practicly finished, so I will have time for it now

Rexy
03-03-2008, 09:31 PM
...so this means I have to go back to the drawing board, again? I know Kyle was seeking for help on the Phantasia side but it's hard to find something worth approaching that HASN'T been given coverage yet. :\

Well, he said he's not sure if he'll have time. So maybe you can do one to take the pressure off.

I'm sorry, Rexy. I'd say go ahead and do it, unless pu has a major problem with that.

I'm really sick right now, by the way. Sorry I'm not around much. :-(

Rexy
03-04-2008, 08:58 AM
Don't worry, I haven't been around much albeit for different reasons altogether (like, I'm bound to get into employment before the year is out). I can understand your feelings though, hope you get better soon :(

pu_freak
03-04-2008, 06:03 PM
Well like I said, I am still working on it (and I already had a wip that was quite far along). So if you'll make one, mine gets thrown straight into the trash bin I'm afraid :P. If you really want to do this song, then I guess I have to use mine for somewhere else since I'm sure you'll do a better job with it. But if you can, I would appreciate it if you'd pick another song

Let me think... The Midgard theme is a good theme, but perhaps a bad genre, how about Euclid or Ary? Or the Piano solo of course :P

EDIT - Some might say that I've uploaded my last version of Triumph. Some might even go so far to say that it's done. Who are you? (in other words, got new version up plz say if its done or not k thnx)

Rexy
03-04-2008, 09:23 PM
I looked at the two themes. Given that you're so willing to contribute something for Vigorous Town, I'll let you keep it. Myself, I think I can form something out of Euclid. If I get any updates regarding progress for it, I'll inform the project managers about it. :D

KyleJCrb
03-04-2008, 09:36 PM
Alright, there SHOULD be nothing for Euclid. Rexy, feel free to kill me if I forget that someone else was doing something with it (though I'm 99.9999% sure nobody was).

I beg to differ. Project Chaos took long enough that I had to redo all of my songs twice due to massive upgrades in my production. In any case, I blame Kyle's girlfriend for this not being done (and a few other things as well!)

Redoing your songs twice is your own decision, not the fault of the project taking too long. If I recall you also had to redo your tracks because your computer that crashed.

My girlfriend has nothing to do with any of the delays of this project, or in fact much of anything to do with this project at all. Delays are somewhat the fault of remixers who won't get their things done (such as a certain guitarist that I happen to be replying to right now that took six months to say anything after he reported that he was supposedly nearly finished with his stuff, and then just dropped from the project anyway), which by extension and association makes the delays purely my fault because I haven't been hounding people enough to work on their shit.

Yes, I know this project is late. Yes, I know it's relevance has probably long since past by now. No, I don't care. I don't need people who couldn't even finish their own fucking contributions to it in here giving us this bullshit and grief.

You want to complain, SnappleMan? Go finish Decisive. You know, the track you were supposedly nearly done with over a goddamn year ago.

KyleJCrb

As far as i am concerned making fun of something isnt neccessarily a bad thing, especially under current circumstances. Suffice to say that it seems i have been misunderstood.

And a message to Kyle: I cannot fully agree with your "try harder". The term "wishful thinking" was directed towards those few songs not yet finished.

I think it's actually in the prologue screen of the game...I haven't beaten it either, though. Just got REALLY far, and then something happened with the game (I.E. ROM was deleted by people cleaning the computer, never got GBA cart. from ex-girlfriend, ect.).

By the way, how about putting a timer on the project's website? You know, like the one for Persona 3: FES not too long ago on official Atlus website. The timer would count the time to the final deadline and after that moment is reached, the estimated time remaining to the actual release (that way people will hopefully wait in anticipation for a release that may or may not be released at the given time, instead of asking "is it out yet mengz?")

The only goal of this project was to raise awareness of the Tales games in form of soundtrack, so that more people would remix those themes. After 3 years, we thought that we feel that we can't keep this going any longer. Nonetheless, we think that we succeeded in our mission, because Sixto for example already has an OCR approved ToP remix. Sorry guys, all a hoax

EDIT:
Let's put it this way: If this project takes more than a year, kill me. :P

It's already happened like that, I will admit. But no more. This is the last extension.

My concern was that people were talking about things like recording guitars and the like at the last minute, which I know can take some time.

Regardless, I can't say for sure whether this project is even on track for a May release (I doubt it, honestly. There's too much left to do outside of the songs), so extending the deadline by a week is not going to considerably delay the release of the project itself any more than it has been.

I hate to be the bearer of some disappointing news, but we will probably not be releasing anytime soon. Yes, I know, that's not what anybody wants to hear, but there is a reason, and it's somewhat out of my hands.

The reason is that, per djp's project scheduling plans (which obviously I can't control, since this is his website, and this project is merely an affiliated thing), DQD (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3435) is next in the release queue, and it may not be until late Summer before that one hits, from what I've been told. I'm not going to schedule anything at this point, but there is the very real possibility that SoS may not be out until Fall.

That's an excellent idea, actually. I think SoS would get more residual attention due to the hype from Dawn, plus some more tracks could be tweaked/completed. You might even be able to throw in a bonus arrangement (or several) from Dawn, since it releases on June 26th in Japan. Footage of the soundtrack would no doubt be available to check out soon after it's July 9th release date. With that kind of lead time and promotional crossover, it really could be win-win here.

When it's released on OCR, that's the release. And the project being released later will actually end up helping it provided it coincides with the release of the new Tales games for the Wii.

The judges don't judge projects. We do take a quick look at album projects just to make sure there's a certain level of quality, but so many have happened since the concept started that people know to bring it. The lineup already looks good; there's certainly no question about that.

I'd suggest ANYONE that wants to tweak their stuff should if they think it'll be an improvement if Kyle thinks it's cool. I saw Usa and V say they were considering dropping out, but I wouldn't drop out at all. We're prepared to give a major promotional push on this one.

the problem is that many of the artists involved have progressed their skill and talent so much more then when they finished their tracks. those completed tracks now feel old and not good or as good as they could be.

i know i certainly feel this way, hell i've been waiting nearly 2 years for mine alone...and that's very aggrivating. many of the other artists finished their stuff earlier then that even.

Look at it this way, guys... it's never going to be "perfect." You put in your love and time, you have some work to show for it, and the project is finally coming out later this year, all told.

Personally, I'd think you have a few months to bang out an "improved" version, if you so choose. That's a decent ammount of time if you just worked on one or two, depending on how fast you work. In the meantime, there's a finished product waiting to be released. Obviously, only you guys can make the final call, but me? I'd like there to be something released for a track rather than nothing.

If you honestly think your old work is going to drag the project down in terms of public reception and you'd rather just opt out instead of redo the track, well... honestly, let's just say I'd be pretty surprised if you could get me to agree to that after I listened to the track myself. I'd chalk it up to just being really hard on yourself.

If anyone pulls their track from this project, I'll kill them. And then I'll have them brought back to life just so Lea can kill them again.

Seriously.

Don't doubt me!

I'll do it! I swear!

I saw Usa and V say they were considering dropping out, but I wouldn't drop out at all.

I never said anything like that, ever :-) Just that my tracks are sub-par, but that I am fine with em as they are on this project ^.^

Oh, I'd do it, too.

Seriously, guys... Yeah, a lot of work was completed a while ago, and it's no fun sitting on it for so long. Working in any art form, you'll always be refining technique, learning new methods, and exploring new directions. Art gets stagnant otherwise. But even if you feel your ability has progressed, that by no means takes away the value of older works.

I can say with complete honesty that I've enjoyed every single track you guys have contributed. I believe they all bring something unique to the project and make it a fuller experience overall, and I'd really hate to see any of them removed.

Since it looks like we'll be looking at an extension due to "outside" factors, people who really feel the need to touch up their existing tracks would have time to do so, I suppose... I just don't want that to turn into procrastination. I'd say that unless the update is timely, the current versions will be used regardless so there's no further wait. However, I seriously don't see that as necessary in the first place - I'm more than happy with the versions we have. You guys have done some excellent work here.

Due to the incessant amount of spambot registration, I've decided to close new user registration on the project forums (http://www.kngi.org/forum). The amount of legitimate users registering right now during this lull in activity is probably about 1 in every 200 or so, if that. I figure everyone who has wanted/needed to register (such as project remixers) at this point already has, but if you're from elsewhere and really want to register, contact me and I'll set you up.

Registration will be reopened after the SoS project has been released. (So never then! HAH!)

Kyle, this could help you guys out (http://www.thesamet.com/blog/2006/12/21/fighting-spam-on-phpbb-forums/). Worked for the sd3 project forum (http://solad.thasauce.net/phpBB2/index.php), we haven't had a single spambot since I put in an extra question. You can check it out for yourself.

I've tried adding questions and other forms of stopping them like that. It helped for quite awhile, but this new registration onslaught I've been getting lately is particularly vicious. They're all registering using popular email addresses like gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc. etc. otherwise I'd just ban the domain names of the email they're using. It's crazy.

The main project songs will be 5 terabytes alone. That's not taking into account the bonus content, which currently adds another 2 terabytes (and is growing as we plan more awesome stuff).

Hey, I just wanted to drop in and say a few things.

A. You guys are awesome. I was really hoping for a ToS remix and it sounds like you guys are going to remix the heck out of it. I'm almost as excited about this release as I am about Dawn of the New World, and that's saying something given how ridiculously much I enjoyed the first ToS. (and to be fair, I played the GBA version of ToP and liked that, too, albeit not as much as ToS, so I'm sure the ToP stuff will be great, too, even if I'm not quite as familiar with it)

B. What exactly is the deal with your site? I visited the latest forums, but it looks like the site is down, which is a shame since I would've really liked to give that bonus track a listen.

C. Would you be opposed to me putting a banner for the project in my sig if I saw fit? I know you're almost finished already, but more publicity can't hurt, right? Granted, I haven't decided whether or not I want to, but I figured I'd ask since I'm new and don't know all the etiquette involved in this stuff. I wouldn't want anyone accusing me of stealing their banner.
