I love how you've now twice taken a theme so ingrained in my conciousness as having some specific mood, and made it something much more subdued, and yet equally awesome. I reference of course your FFIV Calbrena mix.

Granted, you do go up-tempo, but really the intro section is what seals it for me.

Keep it up, we need more mixes on the site that completely detract from what we expect as far as mood and pacing are concerned.

One of my favorite Stevosongs, I'd totally have given into the temptation of adding castanets and a bunch of hand percussion that the track wouldn't need, but he's kept it pristine with just guitars and interesting rhythmic and harmonic choices.

This song is like a level up! Only 95 levels to go! ;-)

I'm an instrumental acoustic guitar nut. So when I saw on my Facebook page the words "Mega" "Man" "Acoustic" "Guitar" you can bet I clicked on that link as fast as my mouse would let me.

I didn't see this coming at ALL. Solo acoustic guitar. No surprise. This track is amazing! One of my favorite OCRemixes hands down.

Congrats on your first solo mix posted homes! :)

This is def one my favorite two remixes from you. This is a mix with and excellent personal touch added to it that doesn't feel forced or awkward in any way. Keep it up Steven! :)

It's always fun to see a WIP make it to the real site. I always liked this remix, and I'm glad to see it here. It's so damn mellow! More acoustic remixes please haha

Wow. I love the recording quality as much as the actual ReMix. What kind of mic/gear were you using?

I love the description you gave this song. Now, all I can think during this song is an old, worn-down factory with a lone robot master. The take on this tune is great and love the new interpretation the acoustic sound gives it.

Loved this since it was in the WIP forums. Gotta say man, I didn't think the acoustic style would work on a source like this but you just pull it off so well. Love it.

This is a great track. Great sound quality. You must have a really good guitar, and recording equipment for that matter.

Personally I found the strumming a bit loud compared to the melodic content in the end. That's my only complaint about this mix.

The first half is my favorite. Great use of four guitars.

I will definately make something like this in the future. You my friend are an inspiration.

I've had this since you posted it in the WIP forums. I'm a sucker for acoustic guitar(s) and Mega Man, so this was a no-brainer for me. The slower section takes some of the edge off of Metal Man and reveals a soft heart inside his chassis. It makes me pensive.

But I really want to hear the second, faster section expanded upon in some sort of Latin-style take on Metal Man - replete with percussion, accompaniment like brass/bass (I'm thinking El Legarto), maybe vocals even. It makes me wonder if this woulda worked better as two separate pieces, but I'm happy with this.

This is amazing personified (songified?) -- what I wouldn't give for an entire MM2 soundtrack like this.

This is so bad ass stevo. Its so smooth and rocking. I love the way the guitar is so present. Good call on not adding percussion. Your rhythm is very solid on this. Keep making great music man!

I really like this one. Perhaps one of the best acoustic arrangements I've heard.

Excellent work Stevo. Don't get your beard caught in those guitar strings.

Yay! This one's been on my iPod since it's days in the wip forum, so it's no wonder I enjoy this version even more so. Awesome stuff right here.

This is one of the most amazing accoustic guitar tracks I've heard in a long time. Let alone a great remix of a classic tune. Thank you for sharing this.

I can really appreciate the work you put into the guitar parts Stevo, the left and right harmony on the rhythm is spectacular, along with the lead sounding very cleanly done. I'm sure it's not as easy as it may sound. I've always wanted to see something like in a hard-rock / metal fashion as it would also be amazing, no doubt. Maybe that should be the next style you work on.

This is new age-y. I love this. Acoustic guitar, ahh, relaxation to my soul.

Hearing this reminds me, go here. Thank me later. http://www.echoes.org/

Seeing the source tune and remixer, I thought I was in for some kick-ass Mega Man metal. Imagine my surprise. Pleasant surprise, that is. We already know L99 can rock hard, now we get to see his softer more accoustic side. Like I said, pleasantly surprised. And loving it! Keep up the good guit work.

This is an epic track. Beautifully done acoustic rendition here.

I also like it because I figured out the meaning behind the title, and L99 congratulated me for it. ^_^

Really like the approach here, but if there's one thing I have a complaint about, it's that it feels too short. I would like to hear a longer version, although I don't know if that'll happen given all the project tracks and stuff Stevo has on his plate

First, I want to thank everyone for the comments and feedback. It really means a lot, both praise and criticism. I'll take it all and do my best to learn and improve for the future. Also, a very big thank you to the folks from the WIP forums for giving me feedback on revision after revision.

Dafydd: For the final version of this song, I was using a MXL991 with a pop filter on-axis to my Hohner Acoustic HW300-TBK. Recorded through a Lexicon Lambda in Sonar 8 or 8.5 (I can't remember exactly which one). I had to EQ out some of the bottom end because of how it was aimed directly at the hole, but the pop filter helped a lot in reduction of that from the get-go. The result was a very warm sound. This is my usual method of recording acoustic guitar, though I'm now using a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB instead of the Lambda.

Stevo get LEVEL-UP.

Have to say, this is a good example of what ocremix stands for imo. Taking a great source tune, and throwing it in a great and unexpected direction.

Probably the best remix i've seen from ocr this year.

Btw, Led zeppelin is one of those bands that you really can't get away with sounding like and hoping no one notices :P The part at 0:40 is basically stairway to heaven with metal mans melody over the top :D

I'm not criticizing btw, I think the fact you took metal man and was able to make it sound like led zeppelin of all things is one of the coolest things i've seen anyone do on this site :D

To have taken such an active and busy song, and to have simplified it so majestically, it must have taken a lot of work! There is a passion to this song, not with sounds coming from all angles, but instead with a burning desire designed to test one's mettle. It's very focused, as I think accoustics tend to be, which is a good thing. The jaunty half later on gives it a good kick, as this is Metal Man after all, and he needs to have an edge. Level 99 you did amazing work here, such a change from the normal tone, but you wouldn't be Level 99 if you couldn't pull it off now would you? :)

Very nice arrangement; I really like the direction you took with this. Somber, relaxed remix of a source that's usually associated with a rather rocking vibe. The second part picks up some speed, but it still feels laid-back.

Also, the warm guitar sound is awesome.

I'd have to agree with everyone's comments about this. It definitely deserves the praise, and I'd like to add that your playing is marvelously tasteful.

This is VERY high quality stuff, congratulations.

As much as I like this mix, I still have some mixed feelings about it though. For some reason the source isn't quite clear cut until the transition at ~1:30. Before then, the source feels really buried and not that recognizable. Also, the transition and ending feel slightly jarring. The ending especially feels abrupt.

Despite what I just said, I still really like the acoustic rendition of the theme though; it's a very fresh take on the theme. It just has this sense of finality/completeness to it and that it's ready to start the next chapter. I definitely recommend this if you're looking for something different.
