Fades & Stereo Swapping

I use FL Studio 9, and I want to make an instrument fade, but I haven't been able to find a tutorial to do that. Can anyone guide me in the right direction?

Also, I'd like to be able to make a single channel swap from the left speaker to the right speaker without sounding like I manually changed the sides, if that makes any sense (I'm not good with the technical terms). Is there a way to do this?

For an instrument fade, you can do it several ways. Perhaps the easiest is to automate the volume knob left of the instrument channel (on the step sequencer, right click the vol knob and click create automation clip. Then adjust the automation clip on the timeline to fade the track.

For panning, you can do the same thing on the Panning knob (right next to volume), or you can automate the panning knob on the associated mixer track.
