Anyone here use GIMP? If so, is there any kind of drop shadow effect on it?

I can't seem to find a function in the GIMP like PS has for drop shadows. You can always make a separate layer underneath and fill your selection with black. Blur the "shadow" layer and change the layer opacity. Then set the "shadow" a little offset from the cut-out layer to give depth. If you have multiple cut-outs, you can still put all the shadows on one layer and blur them all at once. This would also make them all the same opacity in one step so everything's uniform.

Or you could just send me the file and I'll take care of it. :lol:

I use GIMPshop rather than vanilla GIMP, so I couldn't tell you where it is, but I do know I've seen a drop shadow effect somewhere in there.

While the art is the main part of the project that needs to be done, there is still the writing and a couple of more songs that need to be done.
After all those are done, there is still the webpage to make and the fine tuning to the book.
I don't expect this project to be done for at least another two to four months, and that is if the art staff gets on the ball.

One year ani is coming up soon guys!

Quick heads up. I need an artist with some good technical sense to work very closely with me on the Flash storybook interface. I'll have the time resources to work on that around the 12th and beyond. (If no one qualifies, I have a plan B.)

I'm a new member, I was searching around the internet when I came across this topic. Now I was really excited about it, and I want to help. You guys need a website for this project, well I can help you. If you want me to, I'll make a website and submit it for reviewal.

If ocremix offers web support, I can make it for that, but I'll have to know the specs. I use php a lot, so I'll have to know if it's supported. Or, I can put it on my website, since it's such a small site. I imagine it will be sort of like the Rise of the Star website? Links to mirrors that have the audio tracks and whatnot?

I wish I knew about this project earlier, I'd help with music. I really like some of the Kirby music, and I have high expectations of some of these. (Especially the Battle with Marx, one of my favorites). Since I missed it I'll probably make my own remix album thingy. :)

Tell me what you think, I'm open to make websites. If you want to see what I have done before, I can show you. Actually, I would show you my website, but it's not finished quite yet.

I could let you see some of the not finished pages if you keep in mind that there's still some stylesheet work and MySQL/PHP scripting that needs edited. You'll definantly find some errors on the pages, but you can see the layout at least, and some of my work, if you'd like.

Actually, screenshots would help me out a ton since I hardly have enough time to do the pictures, much less download and play through the game.

Writing hopefully will be done by july, but no later than august. I have basically finalized the spotlight for this in an issue of nintendo power when the project is finished.


Also, I am in dire need of an artist to draw me an epic picture. Yes, this will take you a very long time to do. I am going to be stingy about it to, so I am looking at oltri, g man, neoforte, or carefree captain.

I am looking for someone to draw me a picture of kirby sitting on a warpstar in space. I want the background black with dots representing the stars. I also want written on it "To dream on a star...". I am going to be turning this picture into an iron on to put on a shirt. I want this picture to be f'ing gorgeous. I know one of you can take this task. Please do step up. This is for the project. Trust me on this. I want the picture to be 11 x 8 1/2 (in other words grab a piece of binder paper and rotate it 90 degrees).

The songs aren't all done. There are some that aren't because the artists are having technical difficulties. This isn't like the other projects.

I've come to understand that the release is a little slow. (and yes, Arek's use of "Rareware" DOES make me think of that of Dinosaur Planet/Starfox Adventures O.o) Given that I've not much else to do before I go back to campus (other than a cold recovery) I would like to take up the Fighter image too.

Whichever happens, I'm all on to see how far this will go :)

Aside from the covers and Time to Learn art, everything seems taken. I was hoping for one of our strongest artists to take on Time to Learn, but everyone seems kinda burnt out and Neo's working really hard on finishing Marx. If you can get started on that, that would be great. Follow the art sketches in the book for guidelines. Email me if you have any questions.

Well the idea is the book is teaching the player how to use it. The art should show Kirby learning how to use the storybook. :P Hence there should be the following pictures:

Kirby discovering the book
Kirby trying to open/figure out the book
Kirby happily celebrating his understanding of the book

Something like that anyway. I highly encourage any artist interested in drawing Time to Learn to take a crack at it. It's very important that these pictures are done well.

I still have not seen Carefree Captain. We don't have artists working on Inside Nova or Time to Learn (both VERY important), and those artists who are working are doing so at a snail's pace. My patience is wearing thin.:?

Here's what has delayed this project so long:
-More than half the staff misses deadlines, in turn killing project momentum
-Motivation is kinda gone
-We don't have enough talent to cover everything. With the art scaled back we barely break even.

Here's what needs to be done to get the project out within a month:
-Arek and I need to spend a full day or our free time chatting, planning, exchanging information, and making charts... more or less.
-Either our staff needs to get self-motivated, or Arek and I need to remind them to get their work done every single day like cranky parents. Don't make this process miserable. ;[
-Forum members have to stop asking Arek and me, "when will this project be out?". We have no idea with the way things are. Offer some help if you want something done about it.

Most of the bonus content is done. The rest of the project is already done, save for Usa's songs, but he is always good on his word.
This project is just about out and ready to be given to the public.
Estimated release date : June 07
Estimated date to be sent back to site projects : May 07


The reason why I took it out of siteprojects was that this project had a major standstill. Nothing was being produced, so I didn't want it just rotting the site project forum. With this almost ready to be released, I figure that when I get some more stuff done, it will be site project ready again.
Anyhow, the release date is estimated for June, but that doesn't mean that it WILL be released in June. I am waiting for Kyle's project to be done before sending this out, so that means if his isn't out in by May, then this doesn't come out until his is out.
Why May for his? Simple. I want to give his project at least a month of shining time before this hits the light. Having two projects released at the same time is lame.

Hello I happened upon this thread by chance while looking for some kirby music. I find this whole project very interesting given its based off one of my fav games.

Anyway I'll get to the point I would like to offer my services as a visual artist to the project. I studied art a lot back in highschool and still sharpen my skills as a hobby with a little income here and there. I also have a trained voice from being in the top highschool choir but unless you want to take a good amount of artistic license that won't be of much use as there are no real vocals in this kirby game.

I am not really sure. It may be. I know Summoning of Spirits (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2937) has been in development for about the same time as this project, give or take a few months. Other than that, I think most projects finished up within a year.

Yep, we actually started planning and recruiting for SoS in early May of 2005. I know Arek was planning this project not long after I started mine, so he's not too far behind. However, the OCR project production time record is currently held by Around The World (http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2845).
