OMFG

I cannot believe this made it on OCRemix.

I've listened to it hundreds of times on YouTube.

Hopefully more of his remixes get posted, because they sure deserve to.

Excellent vocals. :D

It's Hyadain. That's all you gotta say. :-) Welcome!

YaHoOoO, this is SOoOoO cool!! \@/
It sounds very anime-esque indeed, and surely inspires a lot. I'll definitely be listening to this for a loOoOoOng time! ;P

I've known this song for a long time, and yeah, what can you say, it's Hyadain. It's interesting to note that I found myself often singing "My sweetest peach girl" and other parts of the lyrics under my breath while playing SMW. This really is an example of a mix that has taken on a life of it's own and surpasses the original in many ways.

Heard a bunch of his stuff, and even if this isn't among his best imho, it's still awesome to see his work reached this site.

Are there other Japanese artists here? Just curious...

Hyadain on OCRemix? Wow. The guy's a legend. I am wondering if he found the site by himself, or if it was someone else that convinced him to post his work here. Either way, it is all incredibly catchy stuff. This is one of his most popular remixes too, just listen to it and you will understand why. It's fun, especially with the accompanying video(s) on YouTube.

Umm, Hell yes?

Great, now I have a high quality version of Hyadain's Super Mario Western Show on my compy.

Love most of Hyadain's stuff so (except that chocolate one, god my sister killed that for me) I'm happy as a peanut!

I wasn't too impressed with this. Then again, I'm not usually impressed by [what celebrity] does what. I let the music do the talking, and in this case... it talked.. haha. Interesting to say the least, for a novelty remix. :-) I think it's extremely conservative by OCR's standards and the transition at 1:23 into the 'original' bit was extremely rough. What is this, a 95% conservative mix? *sigh*

Eh. People tend to forget that the human voice is also considered an instrument. And his attention to vocal melody is remarkable. It's true that he has created better arrangements overall, but the vocal work here alone abounds in personality and interpretation.

Very well said; just quoting for emphasis!

Indeed. I have to admit I was completely fooled by Hyadain's Peach impression when I first heard this...even with pitch-shifting, it's no small feat to emulate the inflection of the female voice if you weren't born with it.

Also I'm with djp on the disco interlude -- great stuff.

Woefully short, but I'm glad it made it. +1 for pro musicians on OCR!

I would strongly disagree. The instrumentation, attention to detail in the mastering, and strong character vocals all make it a quality mix. It may not be a technically refined orchestral arrangement, but the end result is exactly what it is supposed to be. Do you personally have any advice on what would make this a better piece?

Very enjoyable... almost as enjoyable as Hillbilly Rodeo (http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR00015/) ;)

On the other hand, several Japanese female singers sing in a voice that I find disturbingly maleish. That said, it doesn't sound to me like there's only one person singing in this song, so yeah, I agree, it's impressive. Can't help but think of Yoshikazu Mela, on this subject.

Find me a rejected mix with better production than this.

"Collision" by Darangen from Voices of the Lifestream. It was rejected for being too close to some mainstream song (would have to dig up the thread.) Basically a stellar track that is very obviously ff7 and incredibly well produced got rejected because it shared a name and similarities to something else.

Although to be honest, your challenge is pretty tough since this is quite well produced. I'd have to go digging but I know that lots of well made tracks get rejected for having poor arrangement.

No, that's not a good example. Production quality has nothing to do with whether something's a standards violation. "Collision" wasn't rejected on just "a name and similarities to something else." That would be like rejecting a mix for tributing/emulating someone else's style. The mix name also wouldn't matter. "Collision" used substantial portions of a non-VGM song, which we don't allow any more.

Yes! I agree completely! I've had this song (and plenty of Hyadain's stuff) on my MP3 for a long time, and I never thought it would end up on OCR. Overall, it's a good, fun, slightly crazy song that doesn't fail to put a smile on my face. And the fact that he made that Peach voice is impressive enough for me. :-D

My bad, my bad. My point was that there are tracks that have great production that get rejected with higher production than this one, based on other circumstances. Probably should have done more than 30 seconds of head scratching before trying to make my point.

Anyways, OT: I don't actually like this track other than the Luigi section, which uses some awesome vocalization. The main thing this track has going for it is being amazingly catchy, in addition to having a hilarious flash video associated with it (or several depending on how much of a purist you are.)

Quite awesome stuff. It's not often that we get some off-the-wall, in your face, super-crazy mixing that just... works.

I love the style, and I await more music in this vein (here's to hoping for some FF love from Hyadain.

I'm familiar with this song, it's pretty great. Never expected to see it on OCR.

Seeing this remix here actually prompted me to search for some more of Hyadain's works and discovered this great remix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y604QjwzmRI) of my favourite theme from FF5. I don't understand the words but otherwise it's great :-)

Nice to see this remix make it onto OCR. The style of SMW's music lends itself pretty well to this kind of arrangement, and Hyadain makes the absolute best of it.

While I love the vocals and the lyrics (especially the spoken parts are hilarious; I love the way Mario and Bowser/Koopa treat each other in this song), I'd like to hear an arrangement without them, simply to enjoy the music more.

Awesome stuff.

Sorry to burst your bubble there mate.
All the voices are from one person.

Speaking of, I wish Hyadain would grace us with more of his mixes.

I'd love MP3s of the Flight of the Silbird, My First Friend, The Answer, the ENTIRE Dragon Quest IV collection.<3
