For those of you awaiting a break-down of which songs appear in this excellent mix, here is what I heard:
1:15 E1M1
1:40 E1M4
2:20 E1M5
3:10 E1M1 (reprisal)
I get the feeling that first minute isn't just original material, but I can't quite seem to place it.

The intro I found kind of disturbing, likely due to it being so late (1:37am) and I'm about to go to bed. Usually these kinds of things don't bother me, but once the music kicked in I was fine. :) I liked the guitars and everything! The only problem (for me) with this remix is that I don't think I could listen to it on repeat forever like the previous two songs. This will go in my Music Collection on my hard drive, but I wish it was something I could have on repeat without being in some rare mood. Still, good stuff! :)

A nice mix of E1M1, E1M4 and E1M5 here. This'd please the people who have only played Doom Shareware too since it's all from the early levels.
It's very bassy but enjoyable to listen to. Nice work.

I found myself comparing this to goat's work a lot of the time. On it's own I guess It isn't bad but I just don't think it stacks up to his (although goat is one of the best, so feel proud about the comparison :P)

I don't feel as though I can bring myself to like it too much. Sorry... I'll give it a few more listens, but there's just some things about it that are disagreeing with me. And it can't just be that metal isn't my genre of choice because Dennis Mott's Castlevania cover is one of my favourite OCR's.
Not for me.

I really liked this one. Only let down was that I was just waiting for the lyrics to start :D

So great. The use of the original riffs is awesome. Its really cool to spot the originals from the midst of this metal mayhem. And the use of the synth bass with the original songsī guitar riffs is really inventice and sounds awesome. A great tribute to great tracks. Me likey...
It seems OC Remix is really going Doom-crazy these days. (wink wink, nudge nudge again..)

Wow, this would be a perfect live song. The intro builds up the tension, and everyone is waiting to see what happens. Then, the guitar kicks in, and the pit explodes! The guitar has a damn good sound to it, what kinda pickups is in it? And for that matter, what amp is it?
Awesome song, it really inspires the metalhead in me. Great riffs, some wicked licks in that solo, and a cool intro. And, best of all, it sounds polished and professional. Please, can we have some more?

Right after the screaming at the beginning, thunder and rain suddenly roared loudly right outside my window. Then the guitar kicked in hard.
This is pretty good.

This is my only remix review, ever. In my time registered on these forums I have never reviewed a remix until now. All I have to say is this... It will rock your face off.

Niiiiice! Kind of like a techno-inspired Korn with a special appearance by Steve Vai for the guitar solo. 8) Instantly one of my favorites.
Trash metal of industry. The arrangement is quite amazing; absent of repetitions, good variation of the original tracks. Has some atmospheric noises that I liked on beginning, like screams and such. Something awesome happen at 01:12, At Doom's Gate Theme was decently played. Instrumentation of high quality. And "Purgatory" is a perfect and creative title for this mix.
Great job.

Yea I think this song is amazing when I played on my set today (right after it came out) I got like 20 pm's on IRC wanting to know where to get it. So I think people will love this song.

Hey guys!
Thanks a heap for the crit! I guess that I have always been a large fan of OcRemix and I just wanted to do something a little bit different.
To answer some questions about the rig:
The guitar is a home-made, 7string, aluminum hollow body, 26 fret beast which I tune down a semi-tone. As for pickups, there is a Dimarzio Evo7 in the bridge and a Blaze7 in the neck.
I used my Fender Blues Delux amp with a Marshall Guv'nor distortion pedal and recorded it with a Shure 58 and a Marshall MX 550.
I had great fun doing it and I think that OcRemix has done a great job over the years making Game music quite popular. I cant wait to send of my next one!

Nice rig you've got there! Not very many aluminum guitars around, though. The pickups are nice, and the amp is beautiful. Every single Fender amp I've heard had beautiful tone. I wish I had the money for a nice set-up like that, but I have a feeling I won't for another 8 or 9 years (when I'm done with university)

I like it, though the only problem I have is the synth transisitions between the DOOM songs and the weak ass drum tones. Seriously, if the double bass and snare and everything were beefed up, it would be absolutely killer. Still good stuff though.

I agree about the drums, they're a bit on the weak side. Still a pretty damn good mix.

Ohh Nice ! Doom metal remix made as a mix of 3 different early shareware level tunes. w00t !
This stuff absolutly ROCKS  ..particulary the final 20 seconds of it.

Loving it.
I'm usually not one for this sort of metal, if only because of the style of singing/roaring. As this particular remix has no singing/roaring, and is musically as intricate as anything else on this site, I'm enjoying it immensely on replay.
Dare you to remix something from Amon Tobin's ST for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

Bloody brilliant. I too have never been a big fan of the style but this is... oh wow... keep up the good work. Dramatic buildup. The beginning for some reason reminds me off Super Metroid, in a good way. Fantastic.

I personally do not enjoy the heavy metal genre. I've been a huge Doom fan for many years, and I absolutely cannot stand this remix. I always get excited when I see new Doom remixes, but I guess I can't be happy with all of them! Nice effort, but unfortunately not everyone can be pleased.

Can anyone understand the words from 1:12 to 1:16?
I liked this, but I wished the 'At DooM's Gate' part was longer, that was my fav track...

Nice remix :). I don't like Electric guitars that much but this is a good one. very "DOOMy" i wish we had a remix of E1M4 (doom 1, stage 4).

*steeples fingers* Eempressive.
I really, really like the way this one starts out. I can't say anything about the rest except that it is well-executed. However, I would like to see an entire Doom song done in that beginning style. It makes me think of Metroid. Only eeeeeevil.

OMG THIS IS SUCH A BRILL MIX! ABOUT TIME WE HAD SOME THRASH METAL IN DOOM! **heart races to 50 to the dozen**
Ever thought of adding lyrics to this mix? it would've really improved it. Then again, WHY HAVE THEM? It's great enough as it is.
Great stuff N-JekteD

This is one brilliant metal ReMix. The start is just wonderful; I really like the part from 0:43 to 0:52 with the sick noises and the scream. After 2:20, when it becomes slow, I somehow remindes me of some good Hans Zimmer stuff, because it builds such a tension, which is released in the part from 3:46 on, when it gets really fast.
Wondeful ReMix, please more of that kind.

In my opinion, this is the BEST remix at OC so far! (and i DO have almost all songs on my comp) Second would be djpretzel's Pachelbel's Ganon from LoZ: Ocarina of Time... Anyway, back to the review!
This is just so FREAKING awesome piece! I personally like the WHOLE song, although there is one thing that bothers me. At 0:44, when the gunfire begins, is it a paintball marker? More i listen to it, more positive i become that it is a marker
Awesome piece of music to all metal fans out there!

I have been listening to this probably since I downloaded it, and have since rediscovered it after getting myself an iRiver H10 5GB.
My only qualms with this would probably have to be the length of the song(s) being ReMixed. I mean, I love the arrangement and all that good stuff; I just wish it were longer for some reason...4 minutes is awesome, and I know it's getting close to the 6MB limit....But still....I freakin' LOVE this mix either way!
N-JeKteD should make an extended version and put it somewhere....His personal page, maybe?
Whatever, this mix was goood, nay, freakin' spectacular! This is one of the few metal mixes I like, simply because it has no real lyrics...I hate most 'professional' metal outfits because of that.
Keep up the good work!

Excellent atmosphere, production, drum programming, headbanging good metal mixed with classic doom themes... but not in the boring, repetetive way that the original songs did it! I find this better than any song on the The Dark Side of Phobos project to be honest.

I share these quite a bit with the ScoreHero/Guitar Hero community, but for whatever reason not usually this one. I think that's a bit silly. :)

Since I don't have remixing talent myself, this is the best I can do to say "thanks - this mix kicks ass."
Some great guitar playing, excellent effects, good structure, and average production. Add that all together, and it's definitely worth your time. Some chugs, some shredding, and a desolate and scary atmosphere make this a very true Doom remix.
Nice work! :D

I wouldn't say this song represents just 1 level though...I heard a mix of multiple levels in this song. I was hoping for a lvl 3 mix in there somewhere, but otherwise this was a good song.
