Bahamut's back, and it looks like he has a handle on the first post again. Woot.

OLD MESSAGE: Hell yeah, it's up again.

Just lettin' you know, I'm finishing my Maverick project song before I finish my Lufia 2 Tower song (and the Temple song, of course), but I'm freakin' pumped about this. Does this mean you'll finally check out my Tower remix in it's 85% finished state on the forums? It's been there for about a year, bro .

Glad the freeze is finally over :nicework:.

Wow. Four directors! They say 3's a crowd... But 4 is a party. ;-)

I'd love to get in on this but I've got to finish a few other things first. All I'm going to say is a 4 Seasons medley would be awesome.

I must've missed it Gario every single time - I only just now noticed it. I think I kept finding the WIP before that and was puzzled before as to why I missed it.

I only just now found the WIP, which is well done.

Edit: The forum is now up here on OCR!

Not much activity in the project forums. I understand it's early, but if anyone has anything to show off (be it super-rough, 60%, nearly finished, whatever), the project forum is certainly the place for it. I'm sure Bahamut is really enjoying the tracks that have progress on them, but I insist that people use the project forums for their WIPs so we all can give some helpful feedback on the tracks. If you can't get into the project forums, let Bahamut know so he can give you access.

Just throwing that out there - it's been awfully quiet for the past month .

Good looking project. We'll never run out of enough nostalgia to remix the classic Lufia 2 soundtrack.

I have a few of them on my YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/xaeaix).

Looking forward to hearing all of the submissions.

Huh... well, that first deadline is coming up, and I see some great tracks that haven't been claimed yet (The strongest man, The Silent World, Four Gods...). Hopefully, people will see that this project is very much alive and kicking and get inspired to contribute their great ideas to the project before the gates close.

Let's see some excitement, here - there are already some amazing tracks formulating by bLiNd, Dragon Avenger and Abadoss (not to mention myself, not to boast or anything ). Let's all get involved in this - Lufia 2 has some great tracks that need some representation!

Alright, folks, got an important announcement for you all.

Bahamut, having left for bootcamp, has temporarily left the task of managing the project to Arek, Jade and I.

He expressed that he did not want to see his project get iced for another year, so rather than letting the project fall out of vogue once again he decided to let us take care of due dates, quality control, management, etc..

If you're interested in joining the project please contact Arek, Jade or myself. There's a lot of space to be filled, as of yet, so please take a look at some of the tracks and see if they interest you. I would take more myself, but I've already taken my share, there :P

Tenetively speaking, the next due date will be on July 1st. From those that are on the project already, I will be expecting something that is a WIP in progress with some work done. If there is a problem with that deadline for you (conflicts with plans/projects) then please contact me and we can work something out. Otherwise I will expect those WIPs. You could lose your claim to your track if progress is not shown by then - if you're green then I will contact you before dropping you, but if you're red and no WIP is present you will simply be dropped from the project, no questions asked.

If you're not already on board, feel free to make a claim. Until a rough WIP is shown and accepted, however, there will be nothing special about your claim, and you could lose it if someone else makes a rough WIP for the track in question. Feel free to claim tracks, but don't expect to hold them if you do not present a WIP to back the claim up.

Alright, I hope to see some progress soon. I've encouraged it before and I'll say it again - There are private forums where you can showcase your work. Whether or not you use them is up to you, but from there the project coordinators can easily access your music and let you know your status in this project. Please use them, if you're at all able to. If you cannot access them for any reason please PM me and I'll get you access to the forums.

This project has been left in the cold for too long, now. Let's bring it back to life - the soundtrack is just too good to leave alone like this!

EDIT: The second post has been updated with this information. Please refer to that post for current news on the project.

Alright, better give this thread some attention, here - deadline's coming up and I've been out of town all month.

If anyone's been trying to get a hold of me and send me a PM of their updates then I apologize, since my PM box filled up while I was away. If you sent me something within the last two weeks you'll likely need to resend it. Otherwise...

Yeah, this is a general message saying that the deadline I had on the first post is tomorrow. HOWEVER, I've been off track on this lately so I'm giving this a one week extension. For those that have sent a PM to me and given updates and such, great! For those that haven't though (and don't get anything in by the deadline) then while you hold the track it becomes open to whomever wants to send a more complete WIP for the track (much like my policy on unclaimed tracks are, as it stands).

This may be harsh, but the project needs to move on. The names that are on the red tracks are great artists, and the sources are amazing, but if there's no activity or contact made soon then I'll have no choice but to open them up again. If you can't make the deadline but still want to hold the track please PM me and we'll work something out.

Alright, I'll be seeing y'all on July 8th. Let's see some awesome music come this way, here.

Gario
07-02-2011, 10:28 PM
No worries bLiNd - you're easily covered for this deadline. I'm really looking for people that either gave a very rough draft a long time ago or for people that have made claims ages ago but haven't pulled through yet.

And thanks Darangen - now's the time to pull something together.

Gario
07-08-2011, 11:55 PM
Y'all have today to get something in. If you haven't contacted me yet then please do so. If you haven't (and don't by tomorrow) then I'm afraid you lose your claim to the track, and I'd really, really hate to see that happen to any of you.

Alright, hope to see something come up.

Gario
07-09-2011, 07:07 PM
Alright, as I've said before, if people didn't get in touch with me before the deadline then they would lose their claim. There are a few that haven't gotten in touch, so unfortunately a couple of claims are going to be knocked off the list. If you're one of those that lost the claim but still want to do the track then send me a substantial WIP and your claim will be restored. I hate to do this, but the project must move on - some of these claims are two years old, and the sources are too good to leave alone like that. If you're a remixer that's been looking to get on the project and have been looking at some of the claimed tracks, take another look, since some really good tracks have opened up.

If you're not already on board, feel free to make a claim. Until a WIP with some work done is shown and accepted, however, there will be nothing special about your claim, and you could lose it if someone else makes a WIP with some work done for the track in question. Feel free to claim tracks in this thread, but don't expect to hold them if you do not present a WIP with some work done to back the claim up. If you send a track and it's dubbed 'Rough WIP' then I will list you on the project, but your track will not be 'safe' if someone else produces a more complete track. Conversely, if you see a track you want and it's in the rough state then please start working on something. Not to be cruel, but it'll either be accepted as an album track (at the cost of the other person's track) or it'll push the original mixer to write something to save his/her track (and both outcomes are great, for this project). I'm pushing to get this project as far as possible before Bahamut gets back, so if you want to join in then bring something substantial to the table.

For those that are new to the project (or only have a rough WIP from the last deadline) I'd like to see something with some work done by August 12th. There's a good chance that Bahamut will be coming back by then, and I'd like to see as many new faces as possible on the project as a gift to him. For those that already are at that landmark the due date for substantial progress will be September 15th. Pending on Bahamut's opinion on this, those that do not submit something significant by then will not have any special claim to the track (and that includes my own Shrine track... I better get to work finishing that!).

Pending on Bahamut's opinion on it, of course.

If you're on this list then you've lost your claim. If you want to get back onto the project then please PM me with a WIP with some work on it.

Prophet (formerly claimed by Ergosonic and Daragen)
Rumbling (formerly claimed by hoha)
Tranquility (formerly claimed by Dr. Manhattan and Harjawaldar)
The Earth (formerly claimed by halc)
Battle #1 (formerly claimed by OA)
The One Who Will Save the Earth (formerly claimed by Monobrow and Protricity)

I know some of you have contacted me and said you're still interested in the project, so please just send something in and you'll be placed back onto the project, no problem.

Well, if the other person has abandoned their mix, they might not even get around to it. Is it really a race when the other guy's engine doesn't start?

I don't know what you were looking for, Brandon - a free claim to a track? It's no different than it's been running since I've held the project; if someone fulfills the requirements to a track then they can have the track. I just can't take empty claims anymore, they don't have much meaning after two years of waiting. Hopefully if people put effort into a track when they make a claim then they'll follow through with the track a bit more consistently.

At least that's the theory behind it. Let's see where it goes from here.

You made it sound like the person who submitted the more complete WIP for the song out of everyone, gets the claim... so I imagined a handful of people vying for the same track, and one dude gets it because he roughs it out and finishes the song in a day. xD

I can make a claim and I'm good for any claims I make, but I can't commit to a rat race right now XD

If you want to make a claim, make a decent WIP. Then it'll be your track. I won't be accepting claims otherwise, though, so if someone else produces then they'll get the track. Geoffrey had a similar system in place for the Donkey Kong project, so it's not unheard of.

It's rough, but as long as it works and do not fills the project with rushed tracks...
I hope for the best for this project, it's too good a soundtrack to get sub-par album (not that any OC album was like that, of course :-D)

You can ask any director of any project I've been on - I've never made a WIP deadline. I do, however, ALWAYS make the final deadline. It's not how I work. My mixes come out of creative bursts that happen when the time is right and are usually finished within 48 hours.

I'll make the track either way, and I understand why you have deadlines - you want to make sure progress is being made on the project - but if someone else claims the track and submits their WIP I'll just release mine outside the project, which is fine.

This is how I feel. I have a song that's like 90% done on this project already (Shaia), which I actually held off on finishing/finalizing because this project died while I was working on it... And yet am getting cut for another song I haven't started yet. Honestly while I understand the principle, I don't think it's fair. I will say this much, I am still very interested in doing the song we have claimed, but it cannot take priority at this time.

Here's why, I have been outputting to other projects that are going to be released much much sooner than this. And while Ari would have been more free to work on the collab with me at the time this project originally started a couple years ago or w/e, he has since become quite busy with another huge project that doesn't involve music. So I have no desire to force his hand and start the song without him and then wait two years for it to be released. As with Darangen, I do plan on doing the song regardless, but I have honestly suffered quite enough from being masochistic enough to join more projects and then working on songs that I have to go back and redo 2 years later because I have improved since then.

There really isn't much initiative with this project, and I honestly think that is because it was started while the original project lead was running about 3 (or more) other projects at the same time, therefore it was no surprise when this one died.

Anyway, music comes for me in creative bursts, and I have about 3 songs that I am working on for other projects that are either already finished, or are very close, some of which are last-minute from me, which will take priority. So if you want to, keep me and Protricity on, I promise to have a song finished in time for the project release, or even sooner, but if that's not enough I understand.

Gario

Simply contacting me and explaining your situation(s) would've prevented me from placing anyone in this situation in most cases, you know - hence why there are still people who are red or green that still have special claims. I know people might still want to do a track very much, or still feel the passion for a particular track, but unless the person makes contact with me via PM or AIM and organizes something with me then I have no choice but to assume that the person isn't interested in the project anymore. I hope you understand that there's no way I can make assumptions about people on this project.

I can hold the two tracks in question until the next deadline (in September), but in all honesty this is a project that's two years in the making. I understand the pressures of participating in many projects (and in Mono's case, taking more than one track for this project), but it's been a very long time since most of these claims have been made. It's not fair to those that have worked hard to make deadlines to arbitrarily hold tracks, anymore.

And in all honesty, I'm not cutting a single person from this project. I'm telling people that haven't sent in anything six months to two years after they've claimed their track that if someone takes more initiative to those tracks than they do then I will relinquish their stake on the tracks (and these initiatives must be close to the OCR bar). At the rate this project has been going I don't see that happening any time soon, so I wouldn't worry about losing your places.

It's tough, but that's the way it is. I'd really like to start getting some results for Bahamut with this project for when he gets back, and the deadlines help push people to work hard on their music. There are a few people that have really rose to the challenge, and I appreciate it greatly.

EDIT: By the way Darangen, are you still working with Ergosonic?

Darangen
07-16-2011, 12:19 AM
I was never working with Ergosonic, Bahamut had set it as 2 separate tracks.

To clarify, I meant no hostility from my previous post. I respect your choices as a director on this project and I have no intention on trying to change how you do things.

But to perhaps better put it, when you get something from me it'll be a finished product, not a wip.

He gave me the heads up already, so I'm holding the track until Bahamut gets back, when I will discuss it with him. It wouldn't be an issue at all except Bahamut is the only one with the WIP... Coming from Neko, though, it's probably pretty good.

Thanks for the heads up, though.

I know, I know - I apologize. I'll have it cleared out before today is over. I'm in touch with a bunch of people right now, so it fills up much faster than it ever has before. Just not used to the pacing!

Yeah, I'll get back to you when it's cleared out. Sorry about that.

sorry for leaving the project, guys.
i had no inspiration to keep working on my entry after the lufia 1 part got removed - i will create a final mix on the old Lufia 1 only track and submit it to either OCR or RTS, i wish you all good luck with your tracks!

Just popping this up for the newer members - I haven't forgotten about the due dates. The next one is when Bahamut is coming back from his boot camp experience (I think), so it's there more or less to give him a nice 'Welcome Back' surprise. Oh yes, I'm not above laying on the guilt to get people workin'.

:P

Yup. August 12th, it's a week away. Let's see some magic.

Closing this due date out with a proverbial whimper, but most everyone it referred to has either sent in something to show their continued interest or have already progressed significantly enough where I don't feel I need to kick them in the rear anymore.

Looks like Bahamut is rolling back in now, so I suppose it's about time to get in touch with him.

Hey everyone, I didn't forget this album project! I'm still a little off from my warped sleep & eating habits after coming back from boot camp, but it looks like some progress is happening, albeit a little slowly. Several people are quite busy currently, but should free up in the upcoming months to complete their tracks & shift progress further in the right direction. I hope to see some more progress when I get back from School of Infantry 2 months later!

Lufia 2's music seems to be bringing out a certain character from the rearrangements on the project that is distinct compared to a lot of music out on the site, so I'm looking quite forward to seeing more of the end product within the next half a year. It's promising yet another great album with a unique flair to it!

Edit: And speak of the devil, I get another wav in today courtesy of redshojin!

So a source is open! The Earth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R37O67saqcc) is a pretty great source IMO and it is honestly the song that really has me enamored with the soundtrack, moreso than the awesome battle themes. Of course, this only means that anyone who chooses to take the source has to be able to produce something amazing out of it, I expect no less!

And here's a random midirip + drums I found on YouTube of the source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oV4bZy0J0Q

Brandon Strader

I could do The Earth :-o

Gario
08-18-2011, 01:43 AM
Send us some work on it and we'll put ya on the list. No need to be shy.

On a similar note, here, there's more than The Earth that's open and available for people. A couple of these tracks really need some loving, here.

The Strongest Man - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1MjGNHdh3A

Seriously, I don't think the album can be released without a remix of this. Someone please take a look at it.

Port City - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kup_g0_3EII

Another iconic track from the game. Again, it's hard to imagine an album without it.

The Universe in a Jar - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9yOhfJ6Dts
The Four Gods - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWy-yjoChx8

Probably less iconic, but these have some serious remixability, here. They just have a very majestic sound to them. They're begging for some people to jump in and produce some more kickass tracks.

In short, Earth is open (which is undoubtedly an important track), but if that's not to your liking then there are plenty of other great tunes that are in need of some love, here.

Flexstyle
08-18-2011, 02:51 AM

I just gave Flexstyle, DaMonz and Evory access to the forums, but I'd love to have more and more people getting involved in there and helping each other out, so if you currently don't have access to the forums please let me know and I'll contact Darkesword to get you access. Glad to see your entry in there, DaMonz, and I'll be looking forward to hearing other people join in on it, since it not only helps push you forward, but it helps push everyone in the right direction.

tl;dr, if you can't access the forums please let me know so I can rectify the issue.

Seems like there's a lot of love coming from the other projects here (even BC is getting it's wheels moving again - awesome). Hopefully some of that love will spill over to this project - the deadline for everyone is coming up, and I'm hoping to see a lot of our old faces (as well as our new ones) dust off their tracks and give them some love.

See you all on September 15th!

Anyway, y'all have a week to report in. Hope to hear some more magic from you guys!

Got your finished track, and both Bahamut and I have agreed that it's pretty awesome. Bahamut isn't able to update the front page ATM, I don't think, so I might need to get that page set back up on the second post again.

Also, awesome work from Cyril - this is an official, public bro-hoof from me, for getting a couple of WIPs in. *clop* Enjoy season two, bro.

For everyone else that can, please be awesome and submit something tonight or tomorrow for this project - I know DS' Concrete Man EP is awesome and all, but some love this direction would be a nice gesture, as well.

So we're well & alive! We are starting to see some activity spring once again and some solid WIPs and tracks are coming in. I wish I were in the position to tease everyone with a preview but I'm currently restricted to the occasional cellphone internet access weekly while undergoing infantry training. Just know that things are in good hands and that the album is going to shape well!

Gario
09-19-2011, 05:51 AM
All right, so I'd say this round of WIPs and finished tracks was moderately successful (and will be considered very successful, when everyone that said needed a few more days to submit gets their songs to me). Woo.

Now it's 'bout time for me to get a new WIP date going. Too tired to think about it now, though, so if there's any suggestions (serious suggestions) maybe I'll take you up on it tomorrow. :sleepzzz:

Bahamut
09-26-2011, 12:43 AM
It seems to be a two man posting show between Gario and I. I hope to concoct a preview sometime after I finish up my infantry training, or if Gario wants he can even sooner. I feel like the best of the album has yet to be shown to us project directors, as we're trying to get spectacular takes on certain tracks. About half of the album currently has a large amount of progress with solid foundations down, if not complete.

Darangen
09-26-2011, 05:06 AM

I hear ya, man. It's sounding pretty good, so far - it'll be great to hear the finished product from you, for sure.

I suppose I can start looking through the tracks we have right now and figure out what a good compilation would be made up of. While I agree that the best is probably still to come, there are still some really great stand-out tracks that are on this project. Yeah, I think I'll try to compile a little preview for y'all pretty soon, here. Maybe within the next few weeks?

Stay tuned!

Alright everyone, it's time for a new WIP date - Dec. 10th!

There are plenty of tracks out there that sound pretty close to completion, so let's see if we can get some more blues out there with this date (and thanks to everyone that's submit a final wav already)! That's more than two months away, so let's see some progress on those WIPs!

*dusts thread*

Hey guys, another month, another deadline. It's in ten days, so expect to hear me call you out in the next few days trying to push you along. I would like to hear some significant progress from some of you - I know Christmas break + MAGfest is going to take a lot of time away from you guys over the next two months, so I want something to sit on in the meantime.

Gario
12-11-2011, 04:21 AM
Thanks for whomever sent in a WIP today or earlier - this was the due date.

For everyone else, I understand there are cool things like the compos, Christmas, other albums and MAGfest coming up that can be distracting. However, I'd really appreciate something of an update in the next few days. If you don't get this message I'll be sure to pass it along to most of you in the next day or so - I know there's going to be trouble getting WIPs through January, so I'd like to see some progress happen before that time.

Some more unfortunate news - Dr. Manhattan lost all his project files, so he has to withdraw from the project :( .

On a more positive note though, it is looking strongly like we're going to be able to have all or most of the tracks in by the end of August! I've been contacting people around, and the album has been developing quite nicely. I'm getting pretty excited over how some of the tracks are looking like Moseph's and Mozzaratti's. Darangen did a pretty solid job with The Prophet as well.

So I'm back, but not completely - I'm on cellphone 4G/tethered internet for the next week or so unfortunately.

I'm going to try to catch up on Lufia 2 details asap though. Things have become a bit stressful on my end as I have some big obligations I have to fulfill in my professional life. I'll have to push back the planned final deadline back a little, probably to October or November for a release hopefully sometime in the winter of 2013.

It's unfortunate I've fallen behind here, and I take responsibility for that. Once I've taken care of my matters in the next few months things should go smoothly.

Hi, all! I'm not a posted remixer, but was interested in taking a shot at that last remaining "highly desired" track, "The Final Decisive Battle." I noticed that there aren't any full WIPs posted in this thread, so Bahamut, I thought it best to send you a PM with a link to my WIP/"try out." I'm not sure if that's your preferred method, so I'm also posting here to signal your attention just in case. =)

Me neither - I built the project site largely up (still some tweaks & a bit of formatting left to figure out), and even started using some Photoshop to assist in creating specific graphics I need to get the site looking how I want. My excitement is such that I didn't want to wait for someone else to volunteer for the web development :) .

We will welcome any additional artists though, we could certainly use some extra pictures for the project trailer. The artists involved are putting their talents to work though, so you'll see more artwork on this project than the previous ones up to this date (minus maybe the leaked pictures from the Kirby Super Star project).

Exciting things are going down, I can't wait until it all gets revealed :) .

Ok so the link for Four Gods (Four Masters of Doom) you used was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWy-yjoChx8

Ok I think the Soundtrack I downloaded was tagged wrong. Youtube everywhere has four gods for Lufia 2 as the song I was wanting to do. SO.

BACK TO ORIGINAL PLAN!!! I'll send you something if I get anything good sounding to come out of my fingers

I may do some of the other songs too that have not been done yet

So ehhh, I've got a shitload of stuff I need to do in the next couple of weeks, but I wouldn't mind doing "The Universe in a Jar." I'll try to cook something up when I get a few things cleared off my plate

EDIT: And obviously Bahamut, if you need me on the BoF project more, just shout at me again

I'll be two weeks without updating my WIP, I'm in a real life workload to the max.

I know what you mean - I've been pretty busy myself, I have almost no free time to myself now until the weekends.

This should be the month where most of the wavs come in though. First in for December is looking like Hakstock, who has a solid Battle #2 mix finished and wav incoming to me!

Edit: And the wav is good!

So I got in two wavs from Rockos and an about finished track from Phonetic Hero! Good stuff!

We're moving closer to the end finally, it feels and sounds good :) .

I also am willing to offer up To the Future to any takers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Op9LVBNJk4

Oh man, as soon as I heard that source I thought it would be perfect for a vocal remix in the style of "Up Where We Belong" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaLizIVcY3o).

If someone would make this I think I'd die from awesomeness.

Sorry for not posting an update in a while - I'm looking to get this wrapped up as soon as possible, so it will see a release this year. I kinda have to given that something is likely to happen in my life, so I need to wrap everything up as soon as possible.

Should be seeing more finished tracks soon though.

Just wanted to make sure. Lufia 2's one of my all-time favorites for games and music, so I wouldn't want to miss out :O

Hak, I just read this. I also just finished my arrangement of this song for the album. I think you'll be happy.
