I'm feeling this. I wish I were more familiar with the GBA Zelda theme, but I LOVE how the OoT was handled. As noted, it was conservative, but it was given such an emotive, warm flavor to it.
I know that Gray mastered/fixed this and I didn't see any comments from the judges about this, but I heard some major clipping, especially on the left late in the song. I usually don't get many false-positives from my headphones but I don't know.

So, Dhsu, when are you going to rework Woods of Healing?

"This solo piano arrangement sounds like a theme they'd play in a film about someone who'd just been diagnosed with a terminal illness..."

You make me smile djp.
Anyhow, this is a great mix. It feels...deep. Another remix you made me fall in love with Dhsu. Also, props to gray as well.

I got this from the RPG Splendid site I think ... and then, like an idiot, I never really listened to it. More fool me.

Really is a melancholy piece, but one strangely suited to the world Zelda is set in. There's been too much black-and-white morality/emotion in most of the Zelda games - and this track shows the potential for more depth in that sense in the franchise.

Good work Dhsu, 6 (>75%)

Very beautiful piece, I have never played this game, but now I really get the urge to buy on and do just that. Canīt really say which are OOA and which are OOT, but I believe itīs around 0:30 I think, thatīs a beauty spot right there. Anyhow, I love pianoremixes, so I canīt help it that Iīm giving this remix the highest grade possible, but when I listen to the excellent pianoplay, both sad and hopeful, I just think it deserves it real good.

I hope Dhsu and GL cooperates more in the time, that maybe has a small chance of happening maybe, but if the results are this good, then PLEASE do a follow-up!

The piano was played nicely, as I always can expect from Dhsu. And GrayLightning, congratulations for the great work on the side of the production quality of this mix.

Very nice - almost Satie-like. It probably could have used a contrasting middle section, but it's fine like this as well. I desire... a second movement. :o

I've been waiting for a remix of one of the Zelda Oracle games for a long time. Neat.

I suppose I neglected to mention that Nayru is the goddess of wisdom in the Zelda universe, as well as the Oracle of Ages in Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages. Nayru's Love is a spell in OoT that makes you impervious to damage for a short period of time. I thought it'd be a clever way to reference both games with the same title.

Sil: A lot of people have mentioned the Gymnopedie resemblence...I can only assume that Kondo had Satie on the brain as well when he composed the OoT title theme. :)

Thanks for all the comments, guys! Vig...I had no idea. 8O

The introduction is beautiful and the transition between the OoT intro and the OoA theme is nice. Good choice by GrayLightning.

Wow... An amazing remix about one of my favorite games ever...

Well the piano is incredibly well done, and a great instrument to capture the Oot intro.
Whenever i hear the Oot "press start" music, i get a punch of nostalgia up my nose... And this punch feels like it's loaded with lead. Absolutly great work.

Anyhoo, are there any other Oot intro remixes? Because if there isn't there should be! That's the first remix i'd do if i knew anything bout remixing... *sigh*

I am in no way familiar with the source music. However, taking the music as it is and judging it on quality alone, I think it was done superbly and recorded well. A great piece of piano work.

However, I think a little more treble by default and some more reverb would have helped this piece a bit.

Oracle of Ages was the first Zelda game I played, and this mix perfectly captures the feel of the game and the emotion of the original track. Adding in the Ocarina of Time intro was absolutely brilliant. This is truly a beautiful piece of piano work. :)

Alright, I've listened to this mix four times thinking maybe I was missing something everyone else seemed to be hearing. But alas, all four times I've heard the same thing, and to be honest, I don't know what all the hype is about.

I will say this, first and foremost: This is not a BAD mix. In my personal opinion, however, it seems to be mediocre at best. The recording sounds MIDI-ish without the reverb, and the arrangement's too simple even for a piano piece. I did like that OoT's and OoA's themes were fused, I just think there could be a little more creativity in the arrangement. After all, the only instrument used here is a piano, so I think it should have been used to more potential. The piano is such an expressive instrument (like most) and here it's redundant at most points, without any derivation from either main melodies.

I like it, and it would fit on my OverClocked Zelda playlist, but it's definitely not all I was told it's going to be. Sorry to say all this Dhsu and GrayLightning, but this mix was more than a little disappointing.

5.5/10

EDIT: After a fifth listen, this time listening intently and getting into the feel of the song, I have to say it's better than I gave it credit for the first time. There is more expression in the dynamics and the volumes alternations than I caught before. But still, it's lacking in many ways. Sorry for being so harsh, but I'm still not feeling this song as much as most people seem to. Although, you get do get a point or two for making great use of the dynamics.

The emotion in the playing really gives this piece something, I had to actually just stop and listen. Awesome.

What we have here is a beautiful rendition of two already quite beautiful pieces of music. The result is a very well executed piano medley of "Nayru's Theme" from The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, and The title theme form The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Dhsu and Gray Lightning FTW!

Oh, btw, Nayru is one of the three goddesses that created Hyrule. I'd have to brush up on the book of Madora to know exactly what she did, but she's definitely an important figure throughout Hyrule.

This remix makes me wish I've never played OoT so I could play it and live all those wonderful moments over again. Great job.

So beautiful and soothing. There is perfect use of dynamics on the piano, which just makes it come to life. I can't believe I haven't posted on this yet. You two should collaborate more often. It's wonderful.

I recently listened to this one with headphones again, and I came out of it amazed at the expressiveness of the playing. The dynamic contrasts are handled with a very sensitive touch. It's the sort of thing I would have loved to do when I was taking piano lessons, if I'd had the skill for it.

Also, whoever called it on Satie earlier, nailed it. I can't believe I hadn't realized that before now, but it's unmistakable.

this song is so delicate and sensitive that its the first stress relief that comes to mind. the short length doesn't bother me one bit since i listen to another soothing relief right after, so this makes a great addition to what i love listening to

i wanna learn how to play the piano now...

I don't regret my vote against this track, as I still felt it could have stood apart from the original more. But it's one of my NO votes that I've greatly enjoyed nonetheless.

Gray added some great touches with his available sounds to add much more realism and expression to the sound quality of the piano. I certainly miss the influence and camaraderie he added to the community.

But more importantly, David's composition was simply a sure-fire winner no matter what standard you look at it from. Whether it's a piece like this, EarthBound "Nirvana," or others, he's been excellent while keeping the pace demure and deliberate.

Ah, this one brings back the late night OoT sessions I had when I was supposed to be sleeping, bleary TV eyes and all.
The arrangement here is the winning aspect for the mix. I mean, I really, really love the arrangement. The two themes aren't just slapped together and forced to stick, nor are they mutilated to accommodate each other. They simply mesh in a really natural way, mainly because of the attributes of the piano and the skill of its player.
Dhsu has a great way of stripping down really fantastic melodies and flexing them to get the most out of them, without damaging the way we experience them or remember them. This mix is just another stellar addition to an impressive body of work. Love it.

listening to the "Title Theme" for Oracle of Ages on YouTube sounds nothing like the melody in this remix. But this piano solo is one of my favorites on OCR

This is one of my favorite Dhsu remixes. It feels even more emotive than his usual work, and captures that tender sense of longing that was present in the original songs. I can't figure out what's going on with the source tunes here but the whole thing feels like an OoT remix to me. Maybe they're the same melody, I dunno.

I'm never sure how to properly review piano solos, even though that's my modus operandi when it comes to remixing myself, but let me assure you that I'm extremely moved and touched by what's been created here. Really, really awesome work, I'm glad I discovered this one! :-)

pretty emotional performance, and nice clean production. This is good stuff. Sometimes it's best to just let the source speak for itself, and this mix does that beautifully. Amazing stuff, I really enjoyed this one.

I really enjoy how the two songs actually compliment each other here and near seamlessly slide back and forth. It took me a while to figure out where one gave way to the other. I have to agree that it is really conservative, both on the actual piano playing side, but also on the sticking to the source. But I think the mix does a good job bringing out the emotion of both the songs represented, even if only one is listed at the moment.

My taste in music was pretty narrow back when this was posted. I can say now that I fully appreciate this beautiful tribute. It really brings out the emotion in the original tracks, especially from Ages.

I would have liked to be the first with a posted Oracle track, but I can forgive you for making such an amazing remix. :-P

Wow, I really REALLY love this ReMix. I love the opening theme from OoT anyway and wish there would be more ReMixes of it. This one is really great! :)
