Organiser: The Orichalcon
This project is organised to follow the concept that brought forward the Ultimate DooM remix project "The Dark Side of Phobos". Much like that project, we'll be remixing all of the tracks from Doom 2 in various styles depending on the artists prerogative (There are 19 tracks.) We'd like to keep the theme to a "Dark" or more fitting "Doom" sound though.
September 2007 update
DQD is nearing completion. The majority of the tracks have been completed, with the rest being worked on. A few are remaining open so we're still welcoming new mixers. We'll be waiting until the FF7 project has been released before considering a release date for DQD. Plus we'd like to make sure that everything is taken care of properly, instead of releasing prematurely. We've waited this long, might as well do it right!
Potential new mixers: As there are only a few tracks left, we're looking to fill them as soon as possible. If you're interested in an open track, just start a WIP and send it to me. If it sounds like what I'm after, I'll get you to finish it and add you to the list.
NOTICE TO MIXERS
Please do not make your tracks public during any stage in their development. This means no hosting at VGMix, soundclick or other public websites, and no posting the songs in this thread or any other. This is to keep the project classified and also more of a surprise to the future audiences upon the eventual release of the project.
------------------------------
A few of the tracks on the Doom 2 soundtrack are based heavily around certain rock songs, and it was decided not long ago that remixes of these tracks in particular won't be accepted onto OCR:
Map07 - Shawn's got the shotgun - Dead Simple
Slayer - South of Heaven
Map10 - The Demon's Dead - Refueling Base
Slayer - Mandatory Suicide
Black Sabbath - Time Machine (Wayne's World Version)
Map18 - Waiting for Romero to Play - The Courtyard
Pantera - This Love
Map23 - Bye Bye American Pie - Barrels O' Fun
Alice in Chains - Them Bones
Map25 - Adrian's Sleep - Bloodfalls
Alice in Chains - Angry Chair
So if you're planning on submitting to OCR and you've taken one of these tracks, you'll have to pass on it this time.

The Dark Side of Phobos was a great album, and we're looking to equal or even out-do the quality level of that album in creating this sister project. I recommend only joining if you have the ethic and love of the Doom series to create the kind of music we're after.

Oooh. Doom 2 is the only Doom I ever actually played. Lookin' forward to the remix of running from evil (though I don't know who that remixer is), and good luck. :)
This is an example of what I can do. (http://vgmix.com/song_view.php?song_id=4219)
I am certainly interested in this Project. I love Doom. Listen to my song. I know there have some problems of volume. But I am sure to improve it in my future songs.
Tell me if I'm able properly to pick a track. If it is possible, I will do some cool stuff with a way of the Doom's Soundtrack.

I'll get back to you, Txai. Need to clear it with Larsec. Reading through the comments on that mix, it sounds as though you've strayed quite far from the source, you'd need to be closer to the source for the project.

Sure, TO. I will do something close in a source of the Project if possible. It would be more easy for me in this case because I could be working in a song wider than the proposed in my example.
If the only problem is the arrangement it must be dissolved. I can do it close of the original.

Cool. Just noticed this thread. It's too bad someone already took "Shawn's Got the Shotgun", that's always been one of my favorites.
Heh. I think it will be especially interesting to see what EvilHorde does with "The Dave D. Taylor Blues".
I guess I could take level 2 or level 4. Not sure which one would a better idea. Level 4 has always struck me as one of the weirdest Doom songs ever, so it might be right up my alley, but on the other hand, to me Level 2 seems like something that would be alot of fun to expand upon; while still retaining the melodies and feel of the original to an extent. That Level 2 song is like a staple in my head from trying to beat that level on Nitemare mode so many times without using the saving feature.
Well, I guess if someone decides to take one of those two choices, I can take the other. Or something. Seems like a blast to me.

I was considering posting a mock sign me up for this song... oh... no... wait... don't kinda post.
Then I realized Doom is dark and disturbing which really agrees with me musically.
sign me up for Adrian's Asleep.
do you need samples?
TO, I think you know how most of my stuff goes ;) Or if you want anything in specific I could pass it down to you.
Nonetheless, I'm leaning Level 3 (Countdown to Death) should you want me on.

I knew this project was gonna happen, but not so quickly, TO you should've given me a shout! Good to see I'm on the list though, yeah I'll take part. I wish I'd known earlier to pick a cooler source, but I think I have some cool ideas for track 23, should be interesting. So, yeah can I take that please? Thankies.
Is there a wip date due or something, or is it a waiting matter till the tracks are all taken and such?

I'll have a chat with Larsec about a reasonable WIP date for the project once we fill up the remaining slots.
Rexy, I've added you to map03 for now. Just let me know if you're certain about that one. I've heard enough of your stuff to know you're good at your music. But like I'm telling everyone else, you must be prepared to go with a dark and doomy sound for this project.

Quite a few of the Remixes at doomworld are actually from OCR too. The guy that's in charge of updating that page posts here at OCR occasionally.
There are still a couple of tracks left to fill. I've added Txai to the underhalls theme for now, and I'm still hoping that DJRedlight will pick a song soon.
I'll probably leave the project here until after Christmas. Those of you who've picked tracks can start working on them if you want. However, I'll set up all the deadlines and such after Chrissy.
ahh, it looks like all but one theme are taken. I'd definetely be willing to give it a shot on "The Focus" since its all thats left, although it doesn't matter to me so much what track i get. If you think there's another I'd be more suited to, i'd definetely take it, but the list is almost full. I don't think any of you know me. If someone already has it and its just not listed, no biggie, but give my stuff a listen and see if its up to your standards.
A couple samples:
http://www.cubed777.com/music/rome.mp3 this was done in a weekend for a class party thing. Some is light, some is dark. I prefer dark. Oh yeah, a small experiment I had with this song is here: http://www.cubed777.com/music/romeset.mp3. Nothing big, just seeing how a part of it sounded with a drumset
this one is mixed low at the moment because i never got around to remastering it and yes, the synth at the end is a bit obnoxious, i know.
http://www.cubed777.com/music/Cubed777%20-%20Stealth.mp3
and this last one was from Halloween 2004... i've improved since it (yes, it clips around 1:50) but I still kinda like it and it keeps with the dark theme
http://www.cubed777.com/music/Cubed777%20-%20Abyss.mp3
oh yeah, i have the capabilities to use live instruments as well, although none of these songs use them.

Cubed777: I had a listen to your tracks, you have the dark sound we're after, and your arrangement is all right. But you'll need to show better sampling and mastering in the project. I've added your name next to the last track.
Everyone: Since the tracklist is full now, I'll put the project on hold until January 1st and hopefully have a full update chewed over with Larsec by then, with the first WIP deadline and other plans for the project. Have a good think about the track(s) you've decided on over the Christmas break. If you decide you don't want the track anymore, then please drop it and inform us in this thread.

Ok, if this project were a demon I would of walked 50 feet before realizing a chunk of my organs had been chewed out. I was hoping for this project to re-open, too bad pm offers weren't sent out to DSOP remixers as well. Any possibility of any more tracks being available? I would love to make another remix.

Apparently, I never sent the invitation to you, I'm sorry :( Although, it seems Analog did get one.
I would hate to give up those 2 tracks because I have some great ideas for both (at least in my own opinion). Would you be interested in The Waste Tunnels?

Larsec, it's a community project. You can give up one of those two tracks for another person and still mix the track yourself for fun if you have good ideas.
Also, it's analoq, not analog.

Well, I wasn't actually aware of the connection since I've never been too much into Slayer. I considered dropping the song (not for the ocremix rule since I won't submit the two anyway) but I believe I can find some new approach on it.
It won't sound like Slayer though.

Yes, I could do that... and I will. In fact I have talked it over with Juha and we won't be doing The Waste Tunnels anyway, so that's up for grabs. On top of that I will also give up the other 2 tracks I am working on. Which makes all 3 tracks I have been involved in availible for the community to remix for this project and, as a result, ends my participation in this project. You may remove my name from the organiser and remixer lists, thank you...

Dude,
I did not want you to give up all those tracks, just one. I would hate to see you give up a chance to remix a song, especially the awsome work you did for DSoP! Please reconsider not remixing a song. At the very least can I rely on you to help me with a song if I need it???
As for picking a song I have to go with "waste tunnels", it was a tough choice between that and "icon of sin" but I can't do both obviously. I still would very much like to see analoq and Larsec on this project. Sure fresh meat is good but old meat does the most damage. (yes, my attempt for at a joke)
BTW- here's a link to the original midi files for doom 2 IF someone needs them.

Ok, a small update.
I'm searching for a co-organiser to bounce ideas off for the project since Larsec quit, so hopefully that won't take too long.
I'm expecting people to be on pseudo-holidays for the next two weeks or so, so I'll decide on a deadline for the first WIP deadline before I ask DarkeSword to move this to the next port of call.
However, I will ask that anyone who has time to start working on their pieces now so you have a bit of extra working time.
analoq: I've removed your name from the main project and opened another section for people who are interested in tracks occupied by other people. It might incite some lazier mixers to drop their tracks for these mixers rather than occupy them without work.
Extra note: One thing I have decided is that if you don't meet any of the deadlines, I'll PM you and give you 3 days to send me an update on your mixes status. Otherwise you're booted from the project.
i've at least started mine if you're interested in knowing and like how its turning out so far, but i'm going to rework the last section i've got before i post a wip or anything

Update as of 30th December 2005.
Ok, as of January 1st 2006, this project will be back in working progress, since most people should be back from Christmas/New Year celebrations by then, if not soon after.
I've decided that the first Work in Progress will be due on Monday February 6th, 2006. That gives you roughly 5 weeks to get started. By that stage I expect at least a bare-bones work in progress of the track that gives a good indication of where the piece is headed in terms of arrangement. This will also be the time to decide whether you want to stick with the piece right the way through the project, or want to drop it and perhaps pick up another one.
I will hold the right to redirect anyone on the direction of their piece for the project. If someone submits a WIP of a track and it isn't meeting the pre-requisites set at the beginning of the project, I'll either ask them to rework it, give them suggestions on what direction to take, or ask them to start again. This will most likely be a worst-case scenario though, so don't worry too much. I'm not going to ask people to rework personalised arrangements and such to suit my tastes, but rather rework the general sound of a mix if I find it is too basic, or isn't "dark" enough for the project. If someone misses the deadline, they'll have a week to PM me or post in the thread as to their reasons, after which they will be immediately terminated from the project and the track will be filled soon after.
On January 1st I will send both a forum PM and an email out to all mixers involved in the project updating them on what will be required over the first WIP phase. I will also be creating the relevant topic in General Discussion to fill the last few tracks and get some publicity.
This isn't required just yet, so I don't need/want anyone to respond to these yet, just to keep in mind if you're interested later in the project. As the project nears the finish line, we'll need:
A website designer
CD art and cover designer
Someone to keep track of the project's progress for article updates (ie: Wikipedia)
Publicity
Torrent Seeders.
So all mixers need to get to work on their pieces if they haven't already, you have under February 6th 2006 to get the first WIP in to me. Go forth young marines!

Juha Kaunisto has had to pull out of the project for now for personal reasons. So that leaves two tracks open for someone else to pick up.
01 - Entryway - Running From Evil
07 - Dead Simple - Shawn's got the Shotgun
I'd prefer that someone who is proficient with electric guitar picks up track 01 so we can kick off the project with some kickarse rock like we did with DSoP.

Oh man. NOW its open! 01 would´ve definetly been my choice if it hasn´t been taken already.
If no one wants that track (duh, like that´ll happen) I´m more than happy to remix it. That is of course if you accept two remixes from the same remixer. The thing is, I´ve already started the Dave D. Taylor Blues remix and its progressing quite nicely so I think I´ll stick to that...
But tell me what you think.

I have so many visions for this song, I would love to turn it into the most powerful and emotional thing I've ever made, but I hate signing up for things before I'm finished. That's just the way I am, I guess, I'm better at being secretive until something I do is released. Anyway, I just tried playing this song again on my keyboard for fun, and it turned into one of the most psychotic music experiences I've felt in a long time, so thanks for reminding me how awesome this song is! If you really want the song, I can put you next to it if you want. There's no guarantee that it will still be available later on in the project if you do end up coming up with something for it. If you find yourself unable to come up with anything by the first WIP deadline, well that's what it's there for. There's no pressure on people to stick with the songs they have. This period is for people to work on their pieces and determine if it's the right piece for them to mix.

I was waiting on this one too.

I probably should have made this clear beforehand. It slipped my mind, so here it is now:
Please refrain from sharing your tracks with the public eye at any stage of their production. This is so the final product will be a surprise and anticipation for the future full album audience. It should go without saying really.
This means no hosting at places like VGMix or Soundclick, and also no posting URL's in this thread. Either host it on a private website and PM the URL to me, or email the track to my hotmail account.
Again to clarify, I'd like all tracks to remain private and classified.

If anyone wants/needs and hand with some particular thing about their track or if remixers suddenly start dropping like flies, send me a PM or something. When the time comes and you need torrent seeders, since I actually will have the internet this time, I'll be more than happy to help out.
Just a suggestion here, it would be cool for publicity purposes to coordinate the release of this project with a WAD release that the Doom community is looking forward to. Just off the top of my head, Foreverhood (http://www.foreverhood.com/) is shaping up to be really good and might possibly be done in the same timeframe as this album.

Sephfire: Thankyou for the offer, if anyone needs your help I'm sure they'll ask. Also, if a track opens up you're more than welcome to take over the placement.
reelmojo: For now I'm refraining from making a final deadline as I don't want the album to become rushed or drawn out. We were originally aiming for a 6th of June 2006 release (ie: 6/6/06.) It's a bit too early to say whether we'll make that deadline, so I won't commit to it now.

Gah... must. get. more. ram.
in an effort to fix the gripe i've gotten in the past of my sampling not being all that great and my production values only being average, i've gotten whole new sound libraries and done significant upgrading. but it turns out my gig of ram is no longer holding up as enough. so my work will be delayed a bit (i'll still make the feb 6th deadline), but i at least already have a very solid 2 minutes completed (pre-mastering). I'll probably pm a copy/link of it to ori and see if i'm heading in a direction he sees fit.
and yeah, that private forum idea sounds very nice

For anybody that's sent me WIP's so far, Keep working on the pieces, I'll check all the WIP's on Feb 6th and give feedback then over the course of that week. This is so things stay organised. If you're happy with your WIP so far, you're free to continue with it. However if you want to wait until Feb 6th to see if you're heading in the right direction, feel free to wait. There's no rush on the project right now.
One thing I will say though, now that we're swinging with the project is that I want all mixes to backup their projects to avoid any unfortunate accidents. This means saving the file twice in separate locations. If you decide to scrap a mix and start over, then keep the old file and it's backup just in case as well.
Once we've passed the first WIP deadline and are on our way to WIP2, hopefully Darkesword will move the topic to the Site Projects forum, at that point I'll ask that all mixers check the thread at least once daily, or however often you come online. Important notices will go out through email though, which is why I need a working email address from the people listed above.

Also, I'll send out an email to everyone with some instructions for the first WIP deadline a couple of days before the first deadline. All of you should have at least started your mixes by now and have something to offer that's indicative of the direction of the piece.
Let's keep powering on, people.

Yeah, I was about to give you Proph's mail address (and if all else fails there's also PMs). He even told me he was fighting a bug this past month, but I'm very optimistic that he will pull through for the album.
My side of the deal is coming along okay. I should have plenty of time to work on it some more this week now that I don't have to do a damn thing in the PRC :)
The Orichalcon

Deadline's coming up, I'll send out a mass email soon to go with it.
If anyone has their WIP finished, they can start emailing it to me at the_orichalcon@hotmail.com. Attach the file to the email if you can. I'll listen to all WIP's from Feb 6th and give you all direction. If anyone's sent me a WIP so far, resend it as an attachment to that email address, even if you've already sent it over the last few weeks, just so I don't accidently leave anyone behind.
Remember, I'm looking for the elements of your remixes for now, the basics that shows me what style and what direction you're going with the piece.
I'll send the email out over the next week.
The Orichalcon
01-28-2006, 10:19 PM

Just out of clarification, I know that in the first WIP you want where the track is going, although are you looking for the sketch of a full arrangement, or a fleshed out portion of the song, or something like that?
Haha, too many commas
The Orichalcon

TO, I had an idea!
As much as I hate crossfading, I still think this would be cool. Basically it involves Prophecy, my song, the text at the end of the game, and the track order. I was thinking our songs could tie together and stuff.
Of course, I haven't really cleared this with Prophecy yet [who I hope reads this message!], but if you don't like the idea then we wouldn't do it anyway.
Anyway I have a question. Crossfading, yes or no?
Also you never answered the question from my email, but that's ok, I tire of the existing sample anyway. However I would like you to do me a favor: Could you get the End Boss vocal sample? The one that's just Romero's voice pitched down and backwards? If you could, that'd be great ^___________________^

I can rip that from the game and send it to you pretty easily. That's the beauty of wintex :D I can rip any number of effects from the game too for anyone who wants them. However, make sure you don't rely on sound effects to carry the piece.
As for cross-fading. I am planning to have the music link together from track to track as smoothly as possible. However, I haven't decided on the track order yet, so don't bother contacting anyone about crossfading just yet. Stuff like that can usually be quite easily edited in towards the end of the project. Once I know the style of the pieces, I'll do what Myth did for DSoP and divvy the tracks up so there's a variety on both CD's.
Mr. Bottle Rocket
01-29-2006, 09:21 PM
why not just keep the level order? insures no gripes from the public there.
^^^ because its very important to make the whole PROJECT as enjoyable to listen to as possible. If there happens to be a bunch of slow mixes in a row with the standard level order or a bunch of fast ones in a row, etc then it doesn't keep the variety across the board as evenly and would lead to an unbalanced overall product
The Orichalcon
01-29-2006, 10:54 PM
Cubed has it spot on. The majority of the tracks will probably still end up roughly in the correct position. I'd like to start the project off with Evilhorde's Map01 rendition, and end the project with EndGame. The rest will be divvy'ed up depending on the styles.

EvilHorde's doing the Map01 track, I see. He did Hangarmageddeon for DSoP, right?
I don't see that orchestral genius that did "Dark Side of Phobos" anywhere on here, though, may I ask if he had a reason to not join this project?
Looking forward to the remix of Getting Too Tense, here, most of all.

Why is it so hard for me to find a Doom .WAD utility?
Google gives less than stellar results, that combined with confusing websites makes a sad soc :(
The Orichalcon
03-16-2006, 03:54 PM
WAD utility? As in something that plays them? Edits them? Makes them?
For playing, I recommend jDoom (or Doomsday):
http://www.doomsdayhq.com/
For Editing, I recommend Wintex:
http://www.gamers.org/addons/utils/deutex/
For Making, I recommend Doom Builder:
http://www.doombuilder.com
--------------
Beyond that, we need to organise a name for the project. Since some of the music in both Doom and Doom 2 is derived from Rock Songs by other bands. I'm thinking it might be nice to make a compromise name that honours that slightly underhanded contribution to the doom universe.
Doom 2 is known as "Hell on Earth", one of the original songs is known as "South of Heaven" by Slayer. So I'm thinking something along the lines of "North of Hell" might be fitting.
Feel free to discuss or throw some other ideas out there.

how about using the title from one of moore's books, . . .
" . . . from hell"
And as long as we're thinking about making a parody of songs borrowed for the doom game soundtrack, how about "Vulgar display of Hell". One of the songs sounds like "Walk" by Pantera from their album "Vulgar display of Power".
At the very least you could call it "REDRUM MOOD".(reverse the words for secret meaning if you're wondering why the hell I would choose a name like that)

I might consider doing that last open track if you're interested in it... I made a short thingy (http://www.sector44.com/neos/doom2.mp3). It's just something i fiddled.

Today is the deadline to get your pieces in, I'm still waiting on several people, so I'm assuming that some tracks will be freed up for others to take. A couple of people have asked for a small extension for various reasons, they have an extra week to get their pieces in to me. Front Page updated. People with extentions have a week to get their pieces to me or they're off the project.
I've started responding to a few people. Some of you will find that I've been rather harsh in my emails. I've noticed from a few of the WIP's that there's a rather large gap between the professional mixers of this project and those who mix as a hobby or are new to mixing. Please note I'm trying to be fair about this and give you all a fair go. But those of you whose tracks are less than professional will have to get them up to par or I'll be cutting you from the project from the next WIP date. Most of you have solid ideas in your mixes, you're just either missing the samples or techniques necessary to pull them off.
Last thing is, I hope those of you who receive one of these direct emails are mature enough to handle it responsibly. Like I said, my goal here is to both make sure this project is of the highest quality, and also to give everyone on the project a fair go. So please take the emails at face value, rather than personally.
Okay, my first ordeal i'll be working towards is replacing all synth leads in my mix yet again and i'll just post a general request for anyone willing to help me out some with it since synth stuff is most certainly not my forte. I would need to come up with a kind of deeper (not lower in pitch) kind of "smokey" type sound for one I suppose and then a clearer up-front and interesting synth lead without having it stray into being piercing. Neither part would work well with traditional instruments. Thanks
Otherwise i'll be checking around for specific parts of my song that I think a particular remixer might have good advice on.

The extended deadline has passed. I'm still waiting on pieces by Sir Nuts, RoeTaKa, Prophecy and Hemophiliac.
Prophecy has spoken to me about his pieces, so I'm just waiting on him to send it to me.
Sir Nuts has been having PC problems, so send your piece to me as soon as you get yourself settled.
RoeTaKa has been having IP problems with OCR for some time. So I need to contact him, however Roe has mentioned that he doesn't think he can work with Evilhorde, being banned and all. So I need to contact Evilhorde about that (or Evilhorde can contact me and let me know what he thinks.)

Also as an announcement, Doulifee is now the co-organiser of the project. Since he's as into Doom 2 and it's music as much as I am. He'll be helping run the project as well as discuss ideas and comment on mixes.
We've opened up a mixers-only section on Doulifee's forum, where you all can and should register. I'll send out more details in a mass-email.
Those who haven't sent their tracks to me have roughly 30 hours from now to get their tracks in to me or they're off the project, no questions asked. I'm done chasing people down.

If you want comments on your pieces, post them over at Doulifee's forum and I'll check them out, as will some other members who've been kind enough to offer opinions so far.
So there are no more WIP deadlines, it's too difficult to round up all the pieces and keep everyone on track, since we all work at different paces.
Register here if you haven't already:

Then send a message to Doulifee and he'll add you to the Doom 2 project section.
I'm also requesting that those involved in the project make it easier for me to manage. ie: don't make me chase you down to find the status of your mix. If you're going to be busy, then tell me. If I request a WIP from you personally, then please render a WIP and let me listen.

...I don't have much, but I've recently gotten a ton of tools I'm willing to spend a lot of time on to master...I also like doing a dark Doom like style.
...if anyone needs a violin too...I'm here...
some track still need mixers i think. contact Orichalcon via pm ;)

My question is, do you guys have anyone down for album art?
I have some limited skill, so if you want I'd be willing to come up with a few roughs for use as a basis for final album-art designs.
(Also, I've created CD-label layouts inspired by the album art that Claude and Mr. Firecracker did for Dark Side of Phobos, if anyone's interested.)

have someone doing an official layout for the project, however if anyone else wants to do up some layouts it never hurts to have more than one in there, since not everyone will be pleased by a single style. We had three for DSoP.

All right, cool.
I've got a couple preliminary label designs for Delta-Q-Delta - they've got a sort of embossed-metal look to 'em.
Should I link them here, or sign up over at Douliffe's fora?

You'll probably get more feedback on Douli's forum. This thread doesn't get frequented much anymore.

Righto, TO. I'll sign up as soon as I can.
(Apologies for not responding earlier, but my 'Net's been on the fritz lately.)

That reminds me, I've got three cover-art roughs ready, with a couple more in progress.
I should have all the stuff prepped for uploading by Thursday.

The mixer list for the project has been culled. If your name is gone, it's because you haven't sent anything to me for months. If you want your spot back, show me a finished piece or nothing. I'm not going to let people block a spot on the list where others could potentially be actually finishing some work.
The only exception is Rexy, who no longer has the means to finish her piece. I removed her from the list because I felt the last WIP she sent me wasn't up to par for the final version.
To interested mixers:
The project needs more mixers now and as you can see, people such as Mazedude, Analoq and myself have already completely tracks, so we're not going to let this project just peter out, even if it means releasing a project without every track covered.
Link to some of your best music in the thread if you're interested.

Also, I posted a new wip on the forums. It's pretty far along, though it has some clipping & stuff. Still needs EQ, which I'm doing. Anyway, it's there!

Wow. I totally didn't know about this project. I would like to join, but I haven't done any actual mixes.
I have some demo original recordings if you would like to hear them Orichalcon. I would like the Demon's Dead, however I can understand if you want to pass on an untested remixer.

Egads, I've been dropped!
Can you put me back on? I've actually been waiting for more feedback before I do anything more, since to me it's practically almost finished. Maybe I should start actively asking? I thought this project would be a little closer than the other one's I've been on, but nobody's really talking to each other so... I'm seriously unsure of where to go next with my mix, but I'll try and search out some other opinions myself.
I'll hunt for stuff to fix myself, for now.
Eap O_o
Well I'm actually back at campus, so I can still get back to working on it. From next week I will be able to access the source files again, should you want me to get on with it.
Also, what happened to Hemo just out of curiosity?

Yay we're still on. I thought the project was done for. I consider my mixes 99% finished. By now the tracks are OLD, so I'll have to check if they're up to par. But I'll get back to them and polish them a bit but you'll get the wavs in the near future.
(I also noticed you PM'd me. Sorry I didn't reply, I totally missed it.)

Yay we're still on. I thought the project was done for.
After speaking to a couple of mixers supposedly on the project, I kept getting this for some reason. The project is only ever done for if the mixers stop communicating.
Overcoat and Rexy. If you want to get back on the project, show me either a final piece or a WIP that I can be confident you'll be able to bring up to par, otherwise I'll keep those tracks open.
Guy In Rubber Suit: PM me these original recordings. IF you've never done any mixes, perhaps you could collaborate with someone to share some ideas.

yeah i have no idea what's going on, last i was told, TO wanted the drums worked on in Rexy's mix both the writing and the mixing. if i'm incorrect please let me know...anyways
Rexy: if you do write new drums get them too me and i'll input them into the track.
In terms of writing, do you mean the arrangement of the drums? I'm sure I'll be able to fix any quirks in there at least. And if by the mixing you meant your input for that matter, I'm sure that'll be something to work upon.

the arrangement of the drums yes, TO said he'd talk to us later about it though. i would like to be on the same page too :)

Rexy, hop on IRC when you get a chance and send me a message so we can start having a chat about the piece. If you have full access to your mixing programs and materials, it should be simple enough to address the problems I can see.
Also, welcome Sixto to the project.

Well I DO have full access again, however bear in mind that as long as I'm floating around the college campus, I can't even use IRC thanks to college firewalls. The only way I can be given a direct conversation to is through either MSN or Skype.

I meant to respond yesterday, but, I kid you not, I loaded up this topic, and then my connection decided to take the rest of the day off. :(
Anyway, I see I've been dropped. Well, I suppose this is as good a time as any to request that I'd like to do Shawn's Got The Shotgun instead, as I was sort of originally intending to. Bye Bye American Pie, well, let's say I can attempt it again later if needed but right now I'm not "feeling" the mix I have for it anymore. I can upload my current mix of Shawn's and link to at the forums, and I believe I can get the rest of it done within 2-3 weeks or less. I have exams next week, but I think I can squeeze in work on the remix in between studying.

UPDATE:
TO, new cover-art concept. I may be abandoning the first two in favor of this one. I've PMed you a link, so please tell me what you think of same compared to earlier concepts when you get a chance.

They're both good in their own way. Too simplistic for the style I'm after though.
Macavity: Replied. Your cover art ideas are your own though, I don't feel comfortable telling you what to do with that. Just make whatever you think looks best. Same goes for everyone else who wants to make cover art.

If you still need mixers, I could do a track. Would you mind specifying what kind of style you want so I know what to send as an audition?
