I'm not familiar with the FFX soundtrack but I really like this. Very upbeat fun mix.

Wow, this is the closest anyone has ever gotten to "professional" trance on this site. I'm having a party next month that will have entail 10 hours' worth of trance over 100 trackse (that's just how it worked out when I decided how many hours I could fit on one CD, and I was off by 20MB), so I may need to bend the "rules" by about 8 minutes since there's no way I'm passing up something as good as this. :)

Wow, this is the closest anyone has ever gotten to "professional" trance on this site. This is the truth. And it's very good trance. I enjoyed this a great deal and I only wish for a higher bitrate.

Higher bitrate version is available at vgmix.

Anyway, this mix is awesome. It's easily shot up to being one of my favorite trance mixes on this site, right up there with "Save Me".

Finally a remix that I don't need to complain about how short it is, bLiNd gives us all the time we need for this one.

It began well, the synths and beats kicked in as soon the mix started, and over the time more and more instruments joined the party. The strings used for the melody wasn't really strong, so recognizing the original track might be hard.
I liked the sudden change at 2:35 when the whole remix went into an other direction, it was at that point that I could fully recognize the original melody inside it. The walkover to trance was excellent, since bLiNd used a very good synth as a bridge to it. He kept the strings, good call I think, and the mix had now built up itself to the max. At 4:39, it released its full glory, and it was magnificent. I concur with everyone else here, this is the best trance I've ever heard so far.
Great work bLiNd, truly great work.

Not a bad piece, bit repetitive in light of the recent submissions, and yet, I still enjoyed listening to it. It develops into a very nice trance piece in the center section, after the introduction.

Not knowing the FF soundtrack, I still enjoyed this.

I'll give it:

7.5/10

I had thought the name White Skies had sounded familiar, then when the melody came in I realized that it was a version of one of the songs he had on the PPM Trance Album (which happened to be my favorite song on that album...). Great stuff, I'm loving in,.. but then I love just abut everything bLiNd doesn.

Excellent. Just top notch quality, and an excellent trance addition to the oc world. Well done, can't say much more than that. That is as close to perfection as I've heard in a long while.

Hope to see more FFX stuff from ya man. 8)

I am a huge fan of this mix despite the ongoing debate about it, and though this is partly due to inherent fondness for the song itself--it being my favorite from FFX, with the possible exception of Some Day the Dream Will End--I find none of the faults you mentioned enough to snuff my crazy dancetastic response. Rock on.

Good stuff, except for the horrendously, ludicrously, absurdly, horrifically, ridiculously, gimme-a-break-are-you-kidding-me intro which is the most unoriginal trance rehash crap which generally speaks for 99% of the genre and made me want to GOL (gag out loud). But with this remix, blind definately stands out in my mind. Seems like he's surpassed Oakenfold, although to most people thats not saying much ;P

Hence "Club Mix" aka for the djs to mix into a set. its necessary. Check out my snowbound remix from earthbound for a nice intro to a dance song. You have to understand the genre...

Next time I submit to OC it will be "OC Edit", like a radio edit, and vgmix will have the full on mix. It fits the guidelines better i guess.

Ah.... just love it when upon the first listen of a remix, you love it.

Of course, not surpassing Oakenfold yet, since I have never seen bLiNd on a stage spinning FF records... but get me a flyer for the party when you do!

What's with the diss Mr. Fancy Pants Judge. Just because we have different standards doesn't mean I have to subscribe to yours. Maybe blind can handle some heftier criticism unlike say...you??

Now you're attacking me personally, and logic says I should delete your post as it's rude and offtopic. But I won't. I simply said that you don't know the standards. What can I say? You don't. That's not an insult or a "diss". Most people don't know the standards.

My point was addressed to blind, not you. You were saying that the song intro was really bad and generic. OK, fair enough. But you made it sound like that was the official OCR stance on the song. That simply ain't true, and I wanted to make sure blind knew it.

There's a strange, deep melancholy somewhere in the melody... The track is totally danceable, but through the beat, there's something so emotional.. It's soothing almost, like a secondary ambient genre within a great trance tune. I give it 10 right on even if I never listened to the original. bLiNd has never deceived me.

This brooding, powerful piece was an excellent selection for a trance remix. Blind is truly talented, and his technical polish has matured a bit since "Fear Factory" from the Donkey Kong Country project.

As a ReMix, I find it a little too independet and not close enough to the original song.

As a song itself, it is great. I'd love to hear it on my home stereo, with the subwoofer booming, but the headphones and the notebook will have to do for now.

Thanks for the link. After listening to both versions, I can say that the first version is much more of a ReMix for me, since I really can identify the videogame origin of this song.
But as a song, I like the second version, i.e. the one you posted here, better.

P.S.: OMG, an extended version of G-Storm. This is like...sex for my ears.
And I've been humming that DnB Song the whole day, JoeCam-vocals ftw.

This review was long overdue but now I reviewed it at vgmix, so I'll just copy that review over here (with a few changes):

This Remix, Ladies and Gentlemen, represents the Highest point when it comes to Trance Videogame remixes, and demonstrates once again who is the person to follow when it comes to this genre. Jesuschrist, just when I think I'm about to reach him, he comes up with stuff like this and blows everybody out of the water.

This mix represents a truly progressive trance song. Not something you would hear from a low class DJ, but something worth of one of those big name producers. Fuck, this sounds better than a lot of professional stuff out there. The production values are ridiculously high. When bLiNd sent me this song some time ago before it got posted at OCRemix, I was totally amazed by how much better his music has become(yes, his music actually CAN get better than before). I can't find a single thing wrong with this song, not one. And I become a nitpicky bastard when reviewing trance but with something like this, all I can do is congratulate Jordan on an amazing work.

I would go with an in-depth review like I always do, reviewing each section of the remix in detail, but man, I would spent 3 pages of praise that no one would read. The drums are excelent. The bass drum is specially pumping and freaking hits me with a kick that bruce lee would be proud of. The bass has a good low and the pad work is totally outstanding. I specially like the chords that have an organic feel to them and you can't really tell what the fuck is going on because they blend with the pads so well that all you can do is enjoy the ride and forget about everything else.

The break before the main melody is really great and emotional, I totally love that gated synth that sounds like a sawwave/chorus that sets the mood so well for what comes at 03:13: TOTAL TRANCE MAYHEM! This synth is awesome. fits extremely well with the anthem lead you got going on, and when you put that with the amazing ambience and the soft lead/pad going on at the same time with the pumping drums, its total trance nirvana. The build down is very well done as well and leaves nothing to be desired.

CONCLUSION: absolutely amazing. bLiNd, If this was your plan for a comeback then it couldn't have been better. This song is absolutely the best Trance Remix to date and I encourage everyone to grab it. Good to see you producing music for us again, and most of all, getting better at it.

But with this remix, blind definately stands out in my mind. Seems like he's surpassed Oakenfold, although to most people thats not saying much ;P

You're saying then that you've heard 99% of the genre then, so you can say that this sounds like everything else?

Thank you for letting us know how much of a musically deaf person you are, and demonstrating your unmeasurable amount of ignorance.

Last I heard Paul Oakenfold did not sound like 99% of other trance artists; that's why he's world famous. Also, bLiNd's particular style does not sound like Oakenfold, but it's still a unique enough style to set him apart from other artists, especially in a song like this one.

I doubt if you (MaGi_TekK) will ever read this, but if you do, please don't clutter this forum or this website anymore with any more comments demonstrating your lack of intelligence and musical taste.

Thank You

This is hot. The track starts off with some nice heavy goodness and then evolves dramatically as it moves along---what really made me sit up and take notice was the creative interpretation with the gated synth at around 2:36, which eerily sounds as if it's an actual whistle, but yet, not. The dynamics in this mix rock the house. It's crystal clear, it's full of awesome sounds, and makes you move. There's no way you can ignore this song.

bLiNd sets an example for us all and brings great honour not only to OCRemix and the VG music remixing community, but the genre that this song represents.

First: this song made me register on the forums. It f**ing rocks!

I have been listening to trance and other EDM for quite a while, own lots of trance in 12" vinyls and I have started learning DJing. This one will be on my sets definitely when the time comes.

This track is one of the best non-commercial and freely distributed trance/edm tracks I have heard. I do not know much about music production but this is just zomgwtfbbqlol!

Keep up the good work. You should definitely send this in to some trance labels to check out. I would buy this if this one would be released on 12" :)

p.s.

Any chance for a higher bitrate mp3 download, pls? :)

As a long-time fan of 'club trance', I must say I am generally skeptical of -- and ultimately bored with -- tracks which are extended to the necessary 'club' length just to be classified as such. It's generally a waste of time for the listener, as what the average 'club' song has to say can be said as effectively in half the time (i.e. radio edit). Fortunately for we OC listeners, Blind has given us a track with substantial build up, climax, and cooldown. All three parts being distinct enough to maintain interest throughout. The synth lead /chords beginning after the first 90 seconds or so really, really get your head bobbing.
I'm surprised by how much I enjoy this track; what could be a generic 'club' length song has genuine appeal and enough evolution to entrance the listener, which, after all, is the goal of 'club trance', I reckon.

I know you're doing the whole club mix thing and/but the buildup is fantastic! Kick is strong (woo), the bass is playing one note but the gating/repetitive attackiness takes care of it. Only thing that makes me sad is that once the groove and accompaniment are fully established (1:44) it only repeats once before things change and you add that piano, eventually breakdown and work your way into the B theme - only to completely abandon the A theme in all its beauty.

But if it makes you feel any better, this song has become my Theme for Successful Use of Bathroom! At least the first half.

Usually I don't like trance because you have to listen for such a long time relative to the song to get to the melody part and it's boring, but not in this case. The entire song evolves and unravels in such a way that it never feels repetitive (even the intro has subtleties in it to keep it from being a copy-and-paste job), and I'd go as far as to say this song defines the word "trance" in its construction. It manages to settle you down, make you comfortable, and transport your mind completely somewhere else, before bringing it back to rest at the end, thoroughly refreshed. Absolutely impeccable sound design and arrangement.
