Sadly, the project will be coming to a premature close, due to severe inactivity over the past few months. I will be stepping down, but anyone who would like to try and take over the project need only contact me and they have my full permission.

Mixers wanted! You know the drill
If you would like to join the mixing team, send me a private message with a demonstration of your work, and Ill get back to you as quick as I can.
Attention Remixers!
If you definitely cannot finish your song in time, or you won't be able to stay in the project for any reason, please let me know as soon as possible. This is very important.
Theme: For those of you who are unfamiliar with the game, Tetris attack is a puzzle game which uses the characters from Yoshi's Island. The two games are completely different and have two distinct soundtracks. There are a few modes of play in the game. This project will focus on the 1 player Vs mode:
Bowser casts a spell on the inhabitants of Yoshi's Island which causes them to become evil. Yoshi has to defeat them (in this case, through a puzzle vs game) to turn them back to normal. Once he saves all of the inhabitants, he ventures into Mount Wickedness to defeat Bowser and his henchmen. That is the theme in a nutshell.
Aside from remixing, there will also be a need for talented artists for cover art and possibly other artwork based on the game's theme and characters.

I think Lungfish's attack sound is just a weird sound he makes...not necessarily any word. On a side note, I got a good laugh out of thr first time I battled Kamek and he said "Hocus Pocus" for every chain or combo he made

Kamek just pissed me off whenever he said that. It's like "Hocus Pocus Hocus Pocus Hocus Pocus" and I'd start getting owned.
I'm really looking forward to the normal Forest Stage remix. Love that level's music.
EDIT: I'm also looking forward to the credits remix, probably the best song in the game in my opinion.

Of course it isn't done. I'm not sure about the whole pixelated Yoshi. I'll probably make it smaller when it is actually finished, I just needed that size when I was arranging the blocks to form "TETRIS".

Looks pretty good so far. I think it needs a background though. Also...there's no official title for the project yet...Perhaps it would be best if you wait for the final title of the project to finalize the button.
Also, this is a reminder for all remixers involved to sign up at the kazorum forum (link is on the front page)

Oh, cool. Didn't see this before; anyway, Tetris Attack is an awesome game, though I've played it mostly via rom, and in situations where the sound should be off (I'm sure you can think of what those might be ;)), so I don't have any particular fondness for the music. Nonetheless, I'm happy to see projects for games whose music have not been widely appreciated, as that's part of the draw of the site, in general. I also know one frosh at my school who would be happy to hear about it (she's freaky good at the game, as well as rather addicted).
I'll also most likely be happy to mirror, by the way. Let me know if/when that becomes relevent.

I posted this in the old thread, so I'll post it here too.
If anyone wants my track (Yoshi's Stage), speak up and take it. Everything I've tried for it has failed, so surely somebody else can get something to work.
(I still plan on trying to do something for this project, but since I have nothing done I can easily switch to a track no one wants.)

Yeah, so did I...
Until very hard mode, and he said it, like, 7 or 8 times in a row, and I knew I just got served something fierce.
But, yeah, this is an excellent remix! Funny story about this game-it made me decide to pick up the bass. Something about that synthesized slap bass that made me want to play it. And here I stand almost a decade later, still grateful for Blarg and his music. And his testosterone-inducing attack growl.
I can't wait until this is finished!

EDIT: Sounds great. My only issues with it is that the opening doesn't quite fit the rest of the song and the weird piano notes at 2:50-2:51. The volume of the strings in the first melody passage might need a boost.
I also had a hard time determining if this was going to be a strings piece or a piano besides the source material. If you wanted to have another go at it, I'd recommend masking the source material a little more so it's not as blatant.

Alright people...lets really get this project into gear! Remember, the first deadline is April 1. Go register at the tetris attack project forum (http://taproject.kazorum.com) and get those WIPs in!
Whew....forums are finally back. The project title thread has been updated to be a poll for voting on the title. Be sure to check it out at http://taproject.kazorum.com/
I'm a little concerned about the lack of activity here. Id appreciate it if people posted more regularly in this topic for anything related to the project really. Just to keep peace of mind in knowing everyone is still around and working on their mixes.

hey, old account is currently still in limbo so i'l update with this (it V_gasm btw). Update on my stuff:
* Forest Stage is pretty much finished, Taucer is guitaring for me, then i'l pass it across for final evaluation.
* Flower Stage is coming along nicly, but i might have to drop it... Iv just purchased my first property, and legalities/finances are swamping alot of my mind/time. I'm gonna have to drop OCR in about 1-2 weeks and hoped to have it done by then, but my week off work was spent on other things, so dunno if i'l finish. I'l pass what i have on if anyone wants to use it in their mix or somthing, but see what happns in the next 2 weeks.

I've asked Bren a million times to drop me from this project, but since he hasn't I guess I'll post a WIP :P
It's short because I've started over literally a dozen times, and it's named deadend.mp3 (http://www.u.arizona.edu/~abiffle/ocr/deadend.mp3) for a reason. (Yoshi's theme)
I don't think I'm going to be able to make something for this project. I simply don't know enough to do anything I want to do. Maybe in a couple weeks when I graduate into unemployment I'll have time to learn more and work on this again.

Flower stage needs to absolutely own, or I will come and attack the remixer with a spatula.
Or maybe I'll just sit in the corner and cry.
MASSIVE amount of changes from the wip, its been one of the only two songs iv been working on over the pre-easter week... :( I dont think i'l be very motivated to restart, but if sudden inspiration hits i'l rewrite it twice as fast.
Losing the files was a bitch, i had an awesome 1942 industrial remix almost complete.... i wish i had uploaded it somewhere...

Once I get Taucers recordings for the Forest stage, that will be complete.
Holy shit, I'd completely forgotten!
um... I could be awhile. I'm already waaaaaaaaaaay backlogged for recordings.
um, my wip is up in the WIP boards (ocr). should i take it down? and what do i do with my wip?.
Depends on how far along it is. If it's early, then its ok to keep here. If it's close to being finished, Id prefer it to be slightly more under wraps.

And I'm going to see if I can drag my brother into helping me with a wip for Lava Panic. We'll see how that turns out by 7/15.

Yes, I just noticed that yesterday...I checked again just not and sure enough...yep...it no longer exists... I guess they delete forums which have no activity for X days.
At any rate, I think it was time for a new one anyway. This time a slightly better hosting site hopefully. Ill ask around and get opinions of different sites.

Commenting on V's WIP:
Nice delicate sound here. Piano sounds fairly well-performed albeit noticeably mechanical. Fairly straightforward but decent effects to fill out the soundfield, although things did feel sprase nonetheless.
Strings come in at :51 and sound REALLY lossy, the way a low-quality audio stream warbles. It really drags the whole things down whenever it's in play. Left-hand piano part from :51-1:02 sounds a bit too rigid and looped. Audio skip at 1:15; could be my file, who knows.
Woodwind synth joins in at 1:27. The synth sounds decent, but rather plain-jane. The overall effects meant to thicken the instruments are ok, but the track still manages to sound somewhat thin, like the reverb's simply there to overcome any shortcomings with the texture. More bass string writing in here might help fill it out.
2:16 rehashes the string writing from earlier (:54), which felt too samey since the texture and number of instruments in play isn't too much different than before. Harp brought in at 2:49 sounds a bit mechanically sequenced, but the writing is ok. Ending is rather sudden and anti-climactic. I see how you were trying to wind things down, but I don't feel it resolved very strongly.
Good ideas in place so far, and this is without comparing this to the original. It could simply be a matter of the samples chosen, but most of them sound pretty generic, and the processing involved doesn't really do anything to change the tones and create something that sounds more unique.
Tempo and style felt like an issue. If you're gonna have the tempo the same the whole way, the piece may need to evolve and change more drastically over the 3 3/4 minutes. Right now, the arrangement is promising, but it kind of drags.
You should really get some feedback from another available J just to get another perspective. I'll give some more comments once I have time to compare with the SPC.
Second WIP checkpoint is coming up...Be sure to be working on your tracks.
I'l be a little behind with updates... work is at crazy time right now plus I'v just been promoted so busy busy... so only working on joke mixes right now (dont have the attention span for serious fixups) Both my peices are almost finished anyways, imo, but I'l get em to you when I can.
Alright, it's the 15th. Time to check on where everyone stands as far as progression in mixing. If you have an updated version or anything important you need to tell me, send me a PM, and Ill get back to you.

Just to remind those who are joining in on the TARemix Project from the owner of Omnibus Hosting that I am still up for sponsoring your project so you guys can have a solid server to work from. If you can get a domain name I can get your account setup so you guys have a decent forum to run from.

I'l take 'Having a tea party with old friends' for $200!
Things have just been going a bit slow lately. I guess Summer just does that to people...nonetheless, people have still been sending in new WIPs and giving feedback, so we're still moving along. Im going to put up a new forum soon which will have permissions for project participants to view restricted sections where WIPs can be posted for all people involved in the project to see. I think this should be a good way to let the mixers help each other out, whether it be a collaboration, constructive criticism etc. Ill make a new post about this forum and its url once its all set up.
Glad to see the forums are back up. The new project forum can be found at http://taproject.mywebcafe.net/
Couldnt get the title on the top of the page to work for some reason...anyway, I would like project members to register there and post their WIPs. Also, from now on I would like to keep any updated WIPs confidential within the project.
Shortly, Ill be contacting members individually about WIPs to find if they're still in the project or not. Until then, keep mixing!

It was weird seeing that without a big, bolded two or three letter word at the end.
We need to keep this moving. While a lot of project members have been making progress on their mixes, some seem to have vanished off of OCR, so I need to look into that, and if necessary, unfortunately, Ill have to remove some idle people from the project. As for now, Keep working on your tracks, send me PMs or IMs about new versions, contact others in the project as well. That's all for the time being.

BUMP FROM PAGINA DOS
Sooo...um....what's new....?
Waiting for Taucer to record me guitars for my forest track
Finished Flower, waiting for judge feedback for possible final touches
Once my peices are finished, I'm probably submitting Flower stage, its one of the best songs Ive ever done.
Im glad to know that not everyone has set this aside as a temporary sidetrack (that was my impression for a while now)
At any rate...I think a lot of people have in fact slowly removed themselves from the project simply from lack of WIPs and communication.
At this time, I was afraid that retiring the project might be the only option. Ill have to find out about remixers I havent heard from for a long time, and see what their stand in this project currently is.
I hope everyone is still working on their tracks... if not then I guess there's gonna be a few new TA mixes on OCR.

You need to update the first post, more notable names, and more progress. Hopefully moving to GD gives you some help. Keep it moving.
I was really hoping this project would be wrapping up by now...
Srsly gys...
Meh, if this project fails, I'm submitting 1 of my songs to OCR, i know that much.
Things really came to a standstill at one point, and I wasn't sure if it would be wrapping up. I need to get back into the coordinator mindset, or, at the very least, recruit someone for the sole purpose of helping to coordinate. I would very much like to see this project move along to its completion, though I don't know if Im the man for the job currently...
Alright folks, Ill see what I can do as far as getting this back up on its feet. First thing on the list to do is to remove mixers who have been missing for way too long, and once that is done, a new WIP date will be set.
Also, as previously stated, a co-coordinator would be extremely helpful to me at this time. All I require is that anyone who does in fact volunteer make themselves available to discuss project matters as well as 1 on 1 with project remixers if need be.
edit: also, as far as project forums go, any suggestions to actual reliable servers would be a good thing, after 2 failures, I really don't want to have to go through that again.

Alright, cool.
At this time, I would also like to announce the official name of the project: "Deluge of Yoshi's Island"
If anyone might offer their digital imaging skills to create a reasonably sized badge for the project, that would be superb.
Also, I would like to start recruiting more artists into the project for artwork to put up on the site at the project's completion. This would more or less be images portraying the storyline of the Vs. mode with motifs of the project (such as music notes on blocks, yoshi wearing headphones) as well as other storyline images, such as Yoshi and the inhabitants of Yoshi's Island fighting against Bowser's minions and so forth.

It was out of commission for a while because various free sites just completely ruined the forum, whether it be the 30 seconds to load a page or countless spammers posting endless ads. Ill be putting up a new one at takeforum shortly. I've heard this one is somewhat more reliable.
Alright, here's the new project forum. I encourage mixers to register and post their WIPs on the forum there. Note: you have to register to view the forums.

Yeah...sorry folks. There's been too little activity for such a long time for this project to continue. I really haven't been getting any new tracks from 90% of the mixers who originally signed up for a very long time now. It's quite difficult to do this, as I had high hopes for this project, but it just isn't moving along. The project will have to come to an unfinished close. If anyone would like to take over and try to bring it back to life, feel free...I'm stepping down however.
