Dude, you're still on hampsters? I switched over to ferrets YEARS ago. Much more efficient.

I vote... huh. Energy Tank for 100% recovery, Heart Container for full recovery, Maxim Tomato for 50% recovery (Kirby usually had six hits), get rid of food entirely, Skip Sandwich Deluxe for full health revocery and bunny hood effect (awesome idea thar, Chrono26). Actual Poison Mushrooms that do actual damage in large amounts (20%+), unlike the Poison Mushrooms that make you smaller.
Spider Ball lets you run on walls temporarily - use it to hide under the stage for a while, but if you stay too long, you get stuck. The Mirror Shield pickup temporarily deflects energy projectiles (I.E. Samus' Charge Beam, but not her missiles), Bomblings replace or are added without replacing bombombs, and have the ability to walk up walls (meaning no hiding behind low barriers bombombs can't cross), Kirby's Jet ability returns to augment jump power (but not speed), the "Sleepy" enemies from Kirby Superstar that, upon being touched, will make your character fall asleep temporarily, P-Wing lets you jump infinitely (again, temporary).
Please, someone continue.

They could add the hook or claw shot as an item. It could allow players to grap enemies from a distance and they could also use for recovery purposes. The energy tank idea to recover 100% damage was really cool. How about the POW (power item) from Excitetruck. Players will temporarily be faster, stronger, and more durable but not invincible. It should also be a rare and very short lasting item. What do you guys think.

04-12-2007, 09:39 PM
What I wouldn't mind they do with the super smash attack items is make it so you acquire so many, say 3, before you can do the Super Smash Attack. Somewhat reminiscent of gauges found in other fighting games. At least at that point you'll have earned it and, by requiring 3, it won't happen too often. Obviously disable-able.

They already had a POW block in SSB on the Mushroom Kingdom stage.
Here are my suggestions:
1. The Bug-catching Net from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w169/HideousBeing/BugCatchingNet.png
It would be used as a weapon like the bat, parasol, star rod, beam sword, fan, Lip's stick, and home run bat. It could also be said to be from Animal Crossing which is even more likely.
2. Bullet Bills from the Mario series.
They would be used as a throwing weapon like shells, and Bo-Bombs. Except, you would throw them, and they wouldn't fall over time. They would just keep on going at a constant rate until they collide with something (upon which they would either explode or just deal damage and keep going) , collide with the terrain, or exit the playable area.
3. Question Mark Mushrooms from the Battle Mode on Super Mario Bros 3. http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w169/HideousBeing/QuestionMarkMushroom.png
They would do just what they do in the game: switch you with your opponent, or a random one of your opponents. They could also use the Warp Block from the Mario Party series, which does the same thing.
4. Watermelons from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w169/HideousBeing/Watermelon.gif
Any character could pick up a watermelon, which they would then proceed to swallow. They could shoot the watermelon seeds out of their mouth with limited charges like the ray gun and superscope. Press the throw button or combo to spit out the watermelon.
5. I already posted this, but the Kuribo's shoe from Super Mario Bros 3. http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w169/HideousBeing/KuribosShoe.gif
This renders your character unable to move in any way but hopping. You could give small hops to walk across the ground, or large hops to try to deal damage. Landing on a foe's head would cause heavy damage like the Hammer. The downside would be the inability to do anything else but hop. Can't attack, throw- just hop. Oh, and you would lose it right away like in the game if you took damage. It would make the original sound effect too, when you lose it.

I seriously doubt they would put a glitch from another game into SSB :p It wasn't even meant to be part of the game. But I have to agree, it would make a pretty awesome item...I'm just curious as to what it would look like. Just like a mosaic-censored looking thing?

Wouldn't it be weird if they accomadated underwater combat in Smash? There would be stages where characters could fall into a pond, swim around, and would have an arsenal of attacks or version of the midair ones underwater. Certain attacks wouldn't work like Din's Fire, and Fire Breath. BTW, I wish that on Brawl, if he's included, Bowser would be able to blow fire further, or just straight- not downward. It would be so much cooler if he blew fireballs like in the first Super Mario Bros. Also, it should make it so if you're holding a Bomb with Link, and you press Down B (or the equivalent), he just sets it down on the ground. That has always since the first Zelda game been Link's move with Bombs- throwing came later. It would be a cool and a great help if Link could set Bombs like he has been able to in all of his games.

I have to admit, the first thing I thought of when I saw "Bug-Catching Net" was using it a la Mario's Cape - reflect any projectile, just like it could reflect Aghanim's energy spheres in LttP.
Bullet Bills are effectively thrown versions of Samus' missiles minus slowdown? I like this idea. Mentioning Green Shells and Bombombs gave me the idea of having an item that acted like a Green Shell - slide along the ground and bounce off walls - that blows up only when it makes contact with an opponent or another bomb item (better yet, it doesn't get blown up, it just gets thrown in the air... and when it lands, it keeps going!).
Question Mark Mushrooms + Team Attack On = Hilarity.
Watermelon... eh. I'd be okay if they added it as one of Yoshi's moves, though. Really short range, hopefully.
Kuribo's Shoe = WIN.

z does not set bombs. The only way a bomb can lay on the ground is if it is knocked out of a characters hands when they are holding it on ground, or if the bombs are thrown upwards, where the peak of their assent is practically laying on another platform. If a bomb has hardly any downward speed, it will explode on contact with terrain.

That reminds me- remember how in the original SSB, when someone took electrical damage, their skin became a skeleton? (Samus was the exception, she just appeared as a poor model of a woman with no constructive coloring.) Anyway, I wish they would put that back into Brawl. It would be more difficult, because graphics expectations would now demand a 3-D skeleton instead of a skin, but it would still be cool. Not to mention, they could make Samus appear more realistic when being electricuted.

Yes. I was quite upset when I realized that the Past Stages would not include Hyrule Castle. That was always my fav one. Oh, and you all know how on SSBM, you cannot willfully Star Finish yourself by say, being Falco, donning a Bunny Hood, climbing to the top of Hyrule Temple, and jumping as high as possible? Well, on SSB, you could. If you played as Kirby on Hyrule Castle, climbed to the top platform, and flew as high as you could, finishing the sequence with Final Cutter, you would Star Finish yourself.

In my opinion, they picked the worst possible stages for the past stages. I mean, DK Jungle, and Yoshi Island? I never played those level when I had the choice. I always played the Pokemon level, the Mushroom Kingdom level (with the kickass warp pipes), and Hyrule Castle.I hope at least one of these are redone and put into Brawl :p

I found Pokefloats pretty annoying.Actually I found all four of those secret levels annoying. The UFO in Fourside, the way the stage spins in Brinstar Depths, just the shape squirtle and some of those floats in pokefloats, and pretty much the way the level's played in Big Blue. They're still on my random select though because they can make some interesting battes.

*item fanfare* Watermelon Beam Acquired. Press A to fire seeds.
Link could use his seed shooter from the GBA Oracle of Something game. Pit could shoot the seeds out of his magic bow thing somehow. And Wario - wait, maybe I won't say that one.
And I totally agree, the choice of SSB stages in Melee was very poor. The only thing wrong with Hyrule Castle I think was that you didn't get a kill if you hit your opponent into a tornado to kill them. And the tornados were a little annoying - but they could've nerfed them, or just gotten rid of them in Melee. Oh well... The MK level was great fun, but they probably decided against it because there were already two other 8-bit NES Mario levels. Pokefloats was just bad, and I think the Kraid level and bonus F-Zero one are a little too annoying (especially when the camera doesn't pan low enough to actually see where you want to land, which is most of the time).
It looks like the Brawl stages, with all their destructableness and such, have a ton of potential. I'm sure they'll come up with stuff as good as/better than SSB's, and specifically suited to Brawl's style of play.

I don't really like nuetral stages but I guess they are needed for serious competitive play. I hope they add classic stages form melee in Brawl. Mute City, Yoshi's Island, and Pokemon stadium were my favorites.
I know this is kind of off topic but does it bother anyone else that they decided to contiue to use Samus's Super Metroid design. I personally think her design from MP2,MPH, MP3 is much cooler and more modern. Not to mention the armor actually looks metallic.

We're more likely to see Krystal as a Sheik clone than an NPC who only serves to drive the story along and let you get to the next dungeon. Jeaze. Jeaze. Jeaze. And her haircut is disturbing. Either sweep it all back or let the bangs cover your entire forehead already!
Hell, I'd be more willing to wager that there'd be a Goomba as a playable character than Ashei. Though more likely they'll both be trophies you can get (if indeed trophies are implemented again this time around.)

So long as we're pointing out similarities, it's been noticed before that the version of Zero Suit Samus from Zero Mission (different hairstyle) looks remarkably like Winry from Full Metal Alchemist. Just noting.

What online modes do you think the game will have? How custom will it be? Just stock? Stock and time? Coin? Special? Even more? Completely custom damage settings and items settings?
I think they would allow that kind (match type length, items, handicap, score display etc.) of customization when playing with your friends. For random matches against random people, porbably not. I just guessing on that based on the on-line play for Mario Kart DS and Metriod Prime Hunters and from what I have read on how Mario Strikers Charged will work. I personally hope thay add a least a little customization options for random play because I don't have many friends.

you crazy? oh em gee. a Ds SSB game would be a amazing. hell, im not talking about some kind of Port or whatever. what i have envisioned is something of amazingness.
A 2D/ pseudo 3D game. smash bros in its simplest is 2D, so why not have the characters be in 2D also? what im seeing is completely unique animations and sprites. same moves...
a - attack
b - special attack
x - jump
y - jump
R - Bubble
L - Taunt
R+A - Grab/throw
items can be the same. it would be the same mechanics but just smooshed into a pixelated 2D enviroment. as for the 2 screens. it could show you how much each player has in hit percentage and also show you what weapons are being held and maybe what the score tally is.
it would work out perfectly. wifi connections and Online? beautiful!!!

Yes, I imagined a 2D game as well. I figured, "why not? SSB is played on a 2D plane anyway." They could just make characters and backgrounds rendered sprites of the model files like they do in the new super mario bros. The second screen for the percentage is a good idea. I find it very annoying when the percentages and stock block the vision of lower level combat. Oh, and of course, they could make it an online game.

Support your hypothesis. Personally, I think it would be much better than the original, thanks to the DS cartridge ability to store more info than the N64 cart could - so at worst, it could end up having the same graphical quality, but with more characters (not Melee's level, I expect) and stages.
I'm all for it, but I think Sakurai has been asked about it before, and he replied, "Let's not get ahead of ourselves."

Isn't there already two brawler type games for the DS? Jump Superstars and Jump Ultimate Stars or something. So yes, they could make a SSB type game for DS. It would probably be a bit like the N64 version. The Jump series has a ridiculous amount of characters but you can only play as a fraction of them. The others come in the form of helper characters with assists like in MvC1.
I hope they don't though, because that will hurt the reputation of SSB overall. Since it's a console game, you don't have to worry about lag which would severely hinder the overall gaming experience.

you know, i don't agree. i think it could work well with a directional pad. its all about how they go about doing it, or about the sensitivity of the pad, being able to distinguish between a smash attack and an attack in a certain direction.
as for the lag, which i'm presume that you're talking about slowdown because the game might be too big to run smoothly the whole time.
although im all for the New super mario bros Look with actual 3D characters, you could actually have the graphical style be more like Mario Party Advance. (thats what i envisioned originally when i thought of SSB on the gameboy) so complete 2D but improve the image clarity and smoosh the possibilty of slowdown.
but i think the DS cart could handle Pseudo 3D or just 2D, but have it be the original 12 but maybe polished up. balance it up again, so it wouldn't be just a port but it would be a game rebuilt.

The DS already has a SSB type game, Jump Super/Ultimate Stars. It hosts much of the same gameplay of SSB, but instead of Nintendo characters its Jump Manga characters such as Naurto, Bleach, DBZ, Death Note, Eyeshield 21, etc... Not just that, its pretty import friendly, which I can testify to as I own Ultimate.
Also, a new interview is out that reveals there should around 40 characters and mentions new additions and removals:
He confirmed that the following characters will appear in the new Smash Bros.
Bowser Jr.
Ridley, the famous enemy of Samus.
Wind Waker Link.
And certain characters will disappear:
Ice Climbers
Mr. Game & Watch
Young Link.
...
[Sakurai] finally affirmed that the total number of characters should approach forty, leaving place for about fifteen new ones and one or two 3rd party characters.

What is wrong with a SSB for DS. There is nothing wrong with porting a game series traditonal being on consoles to handhelds. It has been done tons of times with Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Mario Kart, and Metroid series and they have produced great games (New Super Mario Bros., Metroid Zero Mission anyone). Even a port of the N64 version would even be fine with me because I personally find the original still very fun (can't wait till it comes to virtual console). I would prefer a new game though. 3d or 2d doesn't matter to me though 2d would probably have alot more characters. The DS has enough buttons, the graphic capabilities, and fan base for a SSB game so why not. If it turns out bad (which I doubt) just don't buy it. They don't even need to add touch screen features just like Mario Kart DS.
PS: This thing that SSB needs an analog stick is BS. It would probably be alot easier to do smash attacks with a D-pad.

His specials probably wouldn't be all that hard to figure out. I'm thinking up+b is the homing strike and has good horizontal return possibilities, his forward+b is a quick dash like Fox, his neutral b is a charge up like Yoshi, and the down b is less certain. During the recent Snake Vs. Zombie (http://www.famitsu.com/game/news/2007/03/10/103,1173504848,68329,0,0.html) event in Japan, Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai invited Metal Gear Solid director Hideo Kojima to a quick game of Super Smash Bros. on the Wii.
In the match, Karai played as Mario, while Kojima played as Snake (of course). Kojima said in a recent podcast the game feels “very complete” and “a lot of fun” and could be released tomorrow with Nintendo selling millions of copies of Super Smash Bros.
It’s good to hear Kojima enjoyed his time with Smash Bros., especially with the way Snake played. I was concerned that Snake’s fighting mechanics might not work out too well in Smash Bros., but this latest report has got my hopes up that Snake might actually be a contender.
Doesn't really tell us about when the games going to be released or anything, but at least it seems like it's coming along nicely. Just a small drizzle in a drought of SSB news.

Also, I was watching the Nintendo World trailer and I noticed again that the levels all look kind of like static platforms with moving backgrounds, which would be uber-lame. I'm hoping that we see some of the cool level design from Melee return, because so far I'm unimpressed.
It's one of those things that could make or break the game.
Cerrax
05-09-2007, 05:21 AM
They need to add some stuff like DOA where you can knock people over objects and off of platforms. I mean yeah Smash Bros already kind of does this, but I'm thinking to a much more interactive method. Like in DOA, if you slam someone up against a fallen tree, they don't just bounce off of it, they trip over it fly head-over-heels over to the other side. And if you knock someone down a staircase, they don't just fall over and then stand back up, they fall and then roll and/or trip/fall all the way down the staircase. And there's a lot of breakable stuff. Throwing someone into a pile of crates sends splinters everywhere.
I think the one thing that Smash Bros hasn't really touched on is this kind of environmental interactivity. Judging by what has been shown in the trailers, the only new ineraction with the environment is breaking platforms and changing night into day and vice versa.

You don't have to be a tourneyfag like me to realize that it would look dumb a shit if you could grab the edge backwards. Now granted Melee doesn't have the most realistic physics or anything, but the game has to have some semblance of rules.

I'm pretty sure if they wanted to change that, they would have done it in Melee. Plus you said yourself that Mario's cape causes you to miss the edge. Maybe that's why they left out the ability grab the edge backwards. And IRL its not terribly easy to grab and hang onto a ledge when you are facing the wrong way.

But you still aren't giving me a real, balance-related reason that you shouldn't be able to grab the edge from behind you. I can't think of a single character incapable of having an animation of swinging one arm behind them, grabbing the edge, and pulling themselves around to face it. Or, God forbid, turning around in midair before grabbing it.
I'm pretty sure if they wanted to change that, they would have done it in Melee. Plus you said yourself that Mario's cape causes you to miss the edge. Maybe that's why they left out the ability grab the edge backwards. And IRL its not terribly easy to grab a ledge when you are facing the wrong way.
Mario's cape is one of the easier things to be an edgeguarding ass with. If they left it out because of the cape, I'm willing to trust their game balancing, but to be honest, that seems to me like a really tiny reason to do something as game-altering as not letting you grab the edge behind you.
IRL it's not easy to do a lot of the things Melee characters do, like shooting a Super Scope behind your back. That's not really a great defense.

I'm not saying Mario's cape is the only reason, I was just using an example. How often do you find yourself facing the wrong way anway? It rarely happens to me. Sure it wuld be nice on a stage like Corneria, where I could jump backwards and grab the tail fin to haul myself up, but is itreally that hard to just turn around first? I can't recall any time wher I specifically couldn't turn around in time to catch the edge properly. I'm not saying its never happened, but I don't think it is something that happenes often enough for it to change.

To be honest, it seems to happen to me more often as Falcon than any other character, and I'm not sure why. Ness' skyscraper stage (the one with the UFO... I think it's Fourside) has those two buildings on the right side, where it seems to happen more than on any other stage - save yourself using an up+B move to get over an edgeguarder, but then you don't have enough umph to get to the ledge on the center building, so instead you take the plunge because the game won't let you grab the left edge on the right building.
Definitely doesn't happen every match, but it's certainly an annoyance I'd like to see fixed.
EDIT: In response to the whole "moving stage" thing, I completely agree. Big Blue, despite its hecticness, is one of my all-time favorites (on the other hand, Brinstar and Brinstar Depths certainly aren't. Please let Samus' stages not suck this time...). Also, bring back Hyrule Castle and Temple as past stages. Just sayin'.

one thing you can do to turn around in midair is press up and in the opposite direction you are facing. Then do a neutral b move like mario's fireball and you will turn around in midair. That is a check that the creators put in the game against facing the wrong direction.
Also, you mentioned fourside being a difficult level to return to after being knocked between the two buildings on the right side of the stage. I think Falcon can jump off of walls like mario, so you should wall jump as your primary means of returning. Save your up-B if you know you're opponent is waiting for it and just remember that Falcon and Ganon's up-B are easy as crap to read. You have to be very creative to out smart a good edge guarding character with them.
If you want to be a jerk to whomever you play against, be Peach. Kill them once on fourside, then jump inbetween the two buildings on the right side of the stage and wall bomb it until the forfiet or time runs out

Yeah 'cause if we don't have cool moving levels, we won't be able to ban them in tourneys and force players to use a flat static level with a moving background.
Touche.
Still, I couldn't help but notice how blatantly obvious it looked on Metaknight's level in the trailer that only the background was moving. It looked pretty terrible.
I mean, at least Final Destination looked like it had continuity.

So I just hosted my first tournament last Thursday at my school. Nothing big, so we had 28 people show up. It was cool, but damn I didn't know it took so much work to run a tournament! From setting up to announcing matches and running the bracket to breaking down, I was exhausted by the end of the day. But it was a great experience, and I hope to learn from it and start hosting bigger events in the future.

I feel your pain, man. I've hosted a tournament before and it is a lot of work. Congrats on holding your first tournament, though. 28 us a pretty solid number. Did you participate as well? If so, how did you do?
Did you have good bracket creation software or did you do yours by hand? I used tourney maker for my competition and it made things much easier. If you'd like it, just pm me or something.

Since certain characters jumps keep them spinning, they can grab the edge when facing the wrong way. Link or Bowser are an example. So I think it would be nice if those character who are disadvantaged by this should be allowed to grab a ledge backwards.
Also, it would be nice if Luigi could sweetspot with his SmashB, and if airdodges didn't have such horrible lag for grabbing the ledge. I mean, you should be able to airdodge into a ledge to sweetspot it, as an alternative to your return UpB. This would especially help Zelda and Yoshi. Zelda, because it's always a risk to do Farore's Wind, it being so easily punishable with its high lag. Yoshi, because he doesn't have a third jump.

Cool stuff. It's good that you have braket software. And great job getting second.
I got like 8th at my own tourney....Lost first to a really good falcon, then later to a nub ICs.
Hideous, I'd have to agree with what you said about making it easier to sweet spot with the air dodge of certain characters. Yoshi and Zelda are at a major disadvantage because of that. I don't know about Luigi being allowed to sweet spot with his foward b, though. It seems fair enough to have one unlimited horizontal recovery (fwd-B) and one single use upward one (upB) and that is aside form his air dodge and air jump.
I'm still not sure about beimg able to grab a ledge backwards. I haven't been reading much at Smashboards lately or anything, but it just seems like a bad idea.
Kind of like the Ice Climbers (OOHHH, BURN!)

Yeah, Nus used Falco, which is one of the characters I have the greatest difficulty against. I use the IC, but it's hard to chaingrab a character that can shine you right out of a shield grab. Oh well, we'll see how I do next time.

this guy got an interview with someone from nintendo
* Players will be able to choose from multiple control options. Main focus is on GC controller, and Nintendo is currently considering redistribution of them. (Good, I can’t find wavebirds anywhere. I hope this means I can just use the remote and nunchuck, he wouldn’t say.)
* No motion-sensitive controls in main game. (Does that mean mini-games etc. will?)
* Game will feature no more than 50 characters. (Gee, thanks a lot. I didn’t know that already </sarcasm>)
* “Since there’s a huge fan-demand for online play, the game will almost definitely feature it. That’s the plan. We pay a lot more attention to the fans than you would think, and we think it would be pretty dumb to ignore it. What’s funny is if we had never addressed the rumor, people wouldn’t be so expectant of it as they are.” (Thank god, hopefully an end to the “This better be online or I’m not buying it” stuff.)
* They wouldn’t tell me any new specific characters. (Just thought I’d get that in there.)
* “Fans will be extremely pleased with the quality and number of characters we’ve brought around, as we made this very much a fan-desire project. There won’t be anymore ‘clones’ (just thought I should mention, he did the finger quote thing, and I literally lol’d) either. There are definitely characters that will be huge surprises too, one of which happens to be my absolute favorite.” (Thanks for the cliffhanger. Wait…so no more clones? What about…)
* Not all characters will return. The original smash bros. will. (Oh…bye Roy (one of my mains.))
* Alternate Costumes/Color Schemes will be included. (Hot sauce. I’ll take white Zora Link please.)
* No comment on third parties. (Damn you.)
* The game has been made “more balanced”. (Cool. No more tiers? Ummm…idk if I like this yet.)
* No comment on N64 like intros. (lol)
* No comment on “advanced techniques”. (I’m mediocre at that stuff anyway, so, I’m neutral on this.)
* There will be new items, and some have been taken out. (Bob-ombs confirmed, don’t worry.)
* Super Smash Attacks are not immediately activated, can be reserved. (Well, now that I think about it…duh.)
* Adventure mode will be much larger, classic mode will be featured. (No word on if chars. Would have individual stories)
* Will include more game modes, some from N64 will return. (Due to popular demand, apparently.)
* Events will be included. (I love those things, so to me it’s awesome.)
* This game is scheduled to release this year. (My guess is Fall.)
* No comment on shoot the credits.

Yes, it could simply be that the characters that were previously clones are getting their own individual move sets and play styles. I can't see them cutting something as easy to implement as clones when it would do little but irritate fans of those characters.

The fact remains that either there will be somebody who is the equavalent of SSBM's fox or there will be somebody who is the equivalent of SSBM's falco, but not both.
Same with Falcon/Ganondorf.
Same with Mario/Doc (though I won't be surprised if they make Mario more like SSBM Doc -- which would be fine with me).

Seeing your link to Joysiq gives me even more reason to believe that the Blog is bullshit (nothing against you). Joysiq is such BS, but of course so is most forms of Media.

All it says is that there's a Brawl "info dump" today.

Heres the article for those who can't access it.
We now know when you'll be playing the Next Big Wii Game (tm), as Nintendo has officially announced their summer lineup and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3141680) has a release date of August 20, now less than three months away. Folks, start your pre-orders.
We also now know Mario Strikers Charged (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3153073) is ready for a July 30 release and Battalion Wars 2 (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3153074%27%20title=) is set for September. Good news all around, but simply a prelude to the info. dump of Super Smash Bros. Brawl (http://www.1up.com/do/gameOverview?cId=3141681) that's coming later today -- stay tuned for that.
Then it lists the release date of a bunch of unrelated games.

I can't wait till the site is up. I seriously hope it isn't anything stupid like a blog. I am thinking the site will be up around 8:00 or 9:00 pm mountain time. Hopefully I'm right and I will be looking at some new brawl info before the end of the day.

No prob.
When do you people think Nintendo they release N64 Smash on virtual console if they do. Simultaneously, near release, or just completely independent?
I would say at least a week ahead of Brawl being released to create some hype. I would think simultaneously might take some thunder away from brawl (though doubtful), but because theres probably a bigger markup on N64 smash, it might be more profitable for them.
People are saying it's a major new trailer, a release date and a blog update daily by Sakurai.

I really dont get it, they said new information would be released 12 AM SHARP. In japan in is now around 7 AM, May 22nd. how can they say info is coming out TODAY then? 12 am already passed, and the ppl in Japan are ahead of us (ppl in the U.S.). Did they mean 12 am of the 23rd?

it's supposed to launch this afternoon for japan, so that means like 11pm eastern time
Geoffrey Taucer
05-22-2007, 03:03 AM
We really don't know when it's going to launch; if it's going to launch "today by japan time," that means it could be any time between now and 11:00 AM EST tomorrow.

yeah, but it's unlikely that they'll wait till late at night japan time though because it says "afternoon."
btw afternoon in japan starts in about 49 minutes and that's the most likely time that they will do it
