anybody is a possibility now. theres no point to speculating. but here i go anyways!

so i figure theres maybe 1-3 assist trophies depending on each character they are specifically related to. (hammer bro, goro).

but then you'll have special ones that aren't really related to anybody but be there cause they are way cool. (nintendog)

Well, now I'm relatively convinced we'll see Ridley, King Dedede, Little Mac, a freaking ton of Zelda characters (Goron, Tingle (hopefully non-invincible), iron knuckle, etc.) and most characters from Melee. They might even have a playable Sonic, then throw Tails, Knuckles, Robotnic, etc. in as trophies!

Characters (playable or otherwise) I'm really hoping for:
Paper Mario
Diddy & Dixie Kong
heck YEAH a Golden Sun character!
Megaman (though my hopes are low...)
A Belmont
The Bubble Bobble guys
Grim Reaper guy from Kid Icarus (as a trophy of course)
Metroids (would be the greatest assist trophy ever! Watch it fly at characters, forcing them to either run or hit it away temporarily, then latch on and watch the damage pile up..... :)!!)

It'd be pretty interesting if bosses appeared. Countless Megaman bosses! Tubba Blubba! Francis! Majora's Mask! Freaking Dracula! I'm sure we could compile a massive list, but what's the point......

I think Bosses from any Nintendo games are good candidates. There is a high volume of bosses from all these games, they're obscure yet retain a personality that is (usually) unique. I mean what about Minardi or Saturos from Golden Sun, highly interesting characters but not well known enough for a playable character slot imo. A whole slew of Fire Emblem characters can fit in this area too. Perhaps some Pokemon gym trainers (again, sidenote, I'm really hoping for Jesse and James from Team Rocket! You can't tell me those two (plus meowth) wouldn't be awesome... and a great choice to boot). Hmm, I'd be willing to bet we'll see a ton of Zelda characters... so many, but also characters like Petey Pirahnna, possibly Donkey Kong Jr. Andross would be interesting in evil scientist Monkey form! If Ganon isn't a playable character then GANON... in giant pig form. Eggplant Wizard maybe? There are A LOT of characters from Super Mario RPG that you could pick... seriously... tons.

... you know I wish they had regular baddies show up more frequently (LIKE THEY DID IN MELEE EXCEPT MORE OFTEN...) but now I'm off topic.

Man, I would freak if Mother Brain from the Captain N TV show suddenly appeared...

FOR GREAT JUSTICE SIR!

OBJECTION!

I believe that Dynablade would be another possibility.
But given that Golden Sun is very obscure and not very well known, even though it is a kick ass game, I don't think they will have any playable Golden Sun characters. NPC however MIGHT be a possibility.
And yes, Phoenix Wright would be FTW.

This is a cool update, at first I thought we'd be having Goro as a playable character (It needs more F-Zero guys in it :D) but after reading the whole thing I must say these souped up pokeballs are a great idea.
I just hope assisting characters do more than pokemons did in Melee.

Ray Falling

This is the best update yet!

And I must say that's a really clever way to get more characters in it without having to make them playable.
It also looks like they're really listening to what the fans want :) so we may get to see all those unlikely characters afterall.

I'll say it again: this game is starting to get better and better everytime :)

Great update overall, although I was hoping Goro woulde be a playable character. I really like this Assist character idea even if it is very similar to pokeballs. This reminds me of Marvel vs. Capcom where some of the lesser characters can be picked as assist characters to aid you during battle. Maybe gombas, octrots, redeads, metroids will show up as assist characters.

Sir_NutS
07-02-2007, 02:31 PM
Well that's nice, now non-stellar characters can participate in smash. Here's the possibility for a Metal Gear appearing out of an assist trophy, or liquid snake, or revolver ocelot! man, I hope they put revolver ocelot in there =p

Lots of posibilities now for a lot of characters. This was a great idea imho, although they should have gotten rid of pokeballs and include the pokemons in the assis trophies, because, after all, they are assist characters as well. But anyways, this was one of the best updates and has taken any doubt about buying a wii+smash I had.

So it's pretty much like pokeballs except with other characters from other games. I'd like to see that Doshin the Giant guy pop out. Anyway this is a cool update although I was hoping there would be other playable F-Zero characters but seeing how his arch enemy is an assist character I don't see other ones as playable.Who knows.

Anyhow, I don't like the idea of assist trophies. They're a lame version of pokeballs for other non-pokemon characters. Granted, the original trophies were lame and didn't do anything, and to be honest, it is nice that they're including even more characters without making the character select screen four times as large. Just typing this, I've sold myself on these assist trophies. I did a double take when I saw Goroh, man, I thought he was going to be a playable, lol.

The only problem that arises when they come out w/ ne SSB games is that they make them more and more complex (than previous versions) almost making even previous game masters oblivious and confused to the new controls... but i guess that the same time that happens to everyone :)

I would mind. Do you know how much I had to play with those bitches in SSBM? There's a select few they didn't do right and that I barely ever saw in play, granted, but folks like Captain Falcon and his Falcon Punch are pretty classic right now. Yeah. You can't drop it like it's hot like that. I'd be willing to bet that all the characters Eulogic mentioned (except Capt. Falcon) will NOT be playable in Brawl. Some of those characters have had more than their fair share of the spotlight, others are silly clones who's novelty has worn off, and some simply don't fit with Brawl's updated character designs (e.g Young Link and Sheik). Did they work in Melee? Sure, if you liked those characters in tournaments, and didn't particularly care about the games they were from, or the fact that they were clones. I sure wouldn't mind seeing any of them go. Think of it this way: does Young Link make sense as an assist trophy in Brawl? I'd imagine most would say "No, Link's already a playable character!" Why on earth did they make Young Link and other clones in Melee then? Clearly, it was from a pure gameplay standpoint - clones offered varied gameplay for serious players who can actually notice the subtle differences, but showed some major carelessness (e.g Young Link shoots Fire Arrows, which do less damage than Adult Link's regular arrows??) that Brawl has so far not shown. Brawl's gameplay is bound to be much different than Melee (especially from a competitive perspective), so a new Young Link would play completely differently in Brawl, and the issue of whether Young Link and others were good characters in Melee becomes irrelevant.

Actually, Young Link isn't leaving...so to speak. He's being replaced by WW Link, which makes some awesome sense.

I'd be willing to wager that Sheik will remain as another character if not still attached to Zelda.

And hell, I, too, would be livid if Ganon doesn't have his own freaking moveset this time around. Even though the CF moveset is nothing to sneeze at, he really needs to tap into his part of the triforce ffs.

EDIT- Yay! First post on page 400!

Lol, I lost our little mini conversation in the 3+ pages of discussion (or lulz) that occured since I last posted. I'm not a Zelda player, but I don't suggest using her exclusively (as in not using Sheik too, even though I hate both of them thoroughly.)

Peach has way better recovery options than zelda. Zelda's up B is usually used as a last resort and it has no attack capabilities at all, so that's part of the reason I don't use her. The sweet spot for her f-air is at a weird place on her frame, too.

What is that flag there in the background? I don't recognize it.

I thought the general consensus was that that was a Fire Emblem related insignia?

Bowser looks cool. Although, not really excited by this update. Never played as Bowser.

I think the more important piece of information is when Sakurai mentions :
"If you think [the characters are] all going to be the same as they have been, it’ll be rough for you."

I think that's pretty much a confirmation that any "tiers" or theoretical systems of balance (or imbalance) that were in existance from Melee, will drastically be altered. I'm willing to bet we'll see some major balancing going on that will change a lot of dynamics regarding what characters will get played the most. Could this mean the erradication of tiers by balancing, or merely the shifting of tiers where we see characters like "Fox" and "Marth" replaced by characters that were originally thought poor choices (IE "Pichu" etc.). I'm not saying any of these examples specifically, again, they're merely examples. I mean, very few people used Bowser that I knew of, and everyone else I talked to seem to agree that they didn't play (or know people) that played well with Bowser in Melee. So do you think they'll be balancing him out to be a contender with more popular character choices?

It'll be interesting to see who gets dumbed down and who gets a little better. I know a perfect balance isn't possible, but a little more balance will never hurt. Especially with characters that few people played with!!! All in all this news makes me happy.

I find bowser (bad or not) really fun to play as in melee. All of his aerial attacks are pretty sweet, so long as you're good at L-canceling. It's always a close battle 1v1 when I'm playing as bowser. Albeit all my friends are pretty average at the game, so I can appreciate that he wouldn't be much of a contender in competitive play.

Anyway, I interpreted the same as you did concerning that bolded comment. I'd love to see bowser as a legitimate threat in the future! And he looks pretty sweet.

The best part about this update is the talking about balance. I've wanted to see a solid and large character play well for a long time, but it's not the easiest thing because they're such a big target that's easy to combo into. I really hope they upped his speed.

I personally think Bowser looks awsome. I thought it was going tough for them to top his melee look but I think they did a great job. I also agree that the last sentence in the update seems to be a good indicator that they are working on the balancing issues of the game.

I'm pretty good with bowser in melee.

I beat a peach expert 1v1 5stock with bowser on final destination.

I wonder how his moves will change for Brawl. I hope some of the melee moves (down b, forward b, up smash, to name a few) stay, but a lot of his aerial stuff could use a change.

Bowser is back, and looks better than ever!

I personaly like this badass look, kinda takes away from my mind the image of the stupid (but funny) bowser that nintendo has been handling lately (Super Paper Mario). I mean, Bowser was someone to fear in smb bac kwhen we started playing, now he's just a joke. Anyways, rants aside, I liked this update.

I'm very pleased to see Bowser back, and he seriously does look fantastic! I'd say he's the best looking character model we've seen yet, very refined and polished.

I was thinking how it would be possible for each character to have up to 4 more moves if they used the C-stick on the Cube controller. Kind of like Tales of Symphonia, only I guess that would mean abandoning the camera zoom function (which wasn't all too usefull to begin with). Unfortunatly so many moves would probably not be possible for other controller types since they have less buttons. ;_;

I also like the sound of the whole "they (some of the characters) play different this time around" thing. I'm very curious how much change we're talking about and I can't wait to try out Bowser. :) He was one of the first I tried to get good with on Melee.

Unfortunately, the C-Stick idea won't be taken so well because a vast majority of players like to use it for their smashing purposes. For those who can't be bothered with learning how to time the combination properly or those who just aren't as quick pressing two buttons at once in a very specific manner like the ease of a quick flick on a single stick. I do find myself using it for certain characters I'm not so good with when I'm spamming a specific smash. You don't get the control of charging/timing it, but it has the potential to be faster on a more consistent basis.

Edit: Wait...camera zoom? Okay, you lost me. Explain yourself.

Well, it only works as quick smash in multiplayer. In single player it functions as a camera zoom function.

I guess a lot of people would use the quick smashes hmm.

I just liked the idea of having a few more signature moves :) the C-stick could offer that, but of course there are a ton of reasons not to do it too.

Bzzt. Sorry, RD, but it's Carian from the Magna Carta series.

On topic:

I never liked having quick smashes...made some people play better than they should have. I can whip out smashes consistently faster and more precise than anyone I know can with that C-Stick and they shouldn't be able to even get a single stock on my with their crappy C-Sticks...which they don't, but that's not the point. It makes it more accessible, sure, but it really limits you when you want to be able to charge and time your smashes to mix up your game and get into their heads. I find that's the hardest part for people when I see them "taking the next step" so to speak.

Global-Trance

C-Stick is best used for aerials without killing your momentum. Doesn't kill your second jump if going for u-air, no fast fall (or slowdown) if you're going for d-air, etc. That's about it. Mixing it up with the A + Stick is definitely good for tournament play...

eternal Zero
07-03-2007, 04:59 PM
I'll sometimes use it for aerials, but I don't tend to have a problem with fast falling or losing momentum as my intended attacks dictate my movements so I'm moving that direction anyway or I start my spike (my main is Samus, so I'm referring to her) as I jump so it cancels out the fast fall as she winds up for the hit. That is a good idea though, at least in my opinion for mid-air combat to mix up my playing style.

I love Bowser and I like the way he looks in this, without the tan. I think something Bowser really needs is an armor effect. Kind of like Mecha Zangief or Potempkin where he doesn't go into his stun animation easilly, especially not with just a little slap from something like Fox's dinky singular A punch. He'll still take the damage, but he won't be stopped as easilly, it'll take consecutive hits or a bigger hit to get him stunned.

Speaking of Bowser, it'd sure be cool if these guys were an assist.

Hey I just read on IGN that Smash Brothers Brawl will not be in playable form at E3 this year. The same article reminded me that this game was supposed to be released with the Wii.

Now that got me thinking; why of all the franchises does Nintendo pick this game to pour all their efforts in? Why for example do they not pour such efforts in their huge franchises like Pokemon or Zelda or something like that? Why would they cancel certain games for not appealing to a wider crowd, yet put everything in SBB?

Not complaining though, as I love the series and this game will no doubt be the most amazing yet, just wondered why this game gets the extra treatment. It's been in developement for quite some time now right?
It makes sense for them to pull it back to include online options and other things, but why not do the same for other games that are now just mediocre?
Was there a finished product ready for release anyway? Cause it sounds like the game is getting a huuuuuge update.

You may think that, but it's safe to say the C-stick is "fastest." Here's why. When you use the C-stick, you don't charge the smash attack unless you press Z, which is not something you'll do accidentally. When you do it with the control stick however, you charge the smash attack as long as you have your thumb on the A button. Smash runs in 60 fps, so unless you know you can press A for one sixtieth of a second and no more, you are charging your smash attack before releasing it, and thus, pulling off the smash attack slower.
One tends to think that simply pressing A is something done in an instant. Actually, unless you have amazing reflexes, you hold the button down for a few frames during your "press."
I would know- I play Zelda. Zelda has the quickest smash attack in the game: her down smash. It is essential to attacking a close foe quickly, because it comes out faster than her slow jab and her grab is abominably slow. I used to use the manual method, but after painful re-configuring of my brain and instincts for the move, I have found myself much quicker to the draw using the C-stick.

Hey I just read on IGN that Smash Brothers Brawl will not be in playable form at E3 this year. The same article reminded me that this game was supposed to be released with the Wii.

Yeah, uh, the whole idea with launching Smash Brothers with the Wii was that they'd make Melee online compatible and release it without any changes. The change came when Miyamoto asked Sakurai if he wanted to make a new one; he did, and then started development on Brawl. There was no way that Brawl was ever going to be a launch title; Smash Brothers could have been, but it wouldn't have been Brawl.

A lot of resources are going into this game because first and foremost, it sells. Like crazy. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure Smash Bros Melee was one of the best selling GCN titles ever. Additionally, the fans for this title are through the roof. So many titles are represented and diehard fans want to play as there favorite character. The combination of IP's sell. This occurred with Link being in Soul Calibre 2. The GCN version sold best, and the reason was that Link was a (OMG!) playable character. Lastly, it fits in Nintendo's 'everybody can play' motto. It's simple enough for a beginner to get into, but deep enough for people to play for years to come. I mean, look... look at what the original Smash Bros turned into. The original came out in what? 98? 99? Now Melee has lasted for 6 freakin' years and still has a huge following that still play. Myself included. This game is huge. Probably one of Nintendo's most popular games they've ever created.

Additionally, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Halo 3 are coming out soon and many analysts predict that if the Wii doesn't have a strong showing this holiday season that the PS3 or Xbox360 can catch up in sales per month. A lot is riding on this game to sustain the current sales that Nintendo has been getting since last November. I mean, store are STILL selling out. I walk into a Gamestop and someone asks for a Wii, and he's like, "well, you'll have to come back later when we get another shipment, we're out." I mean... this is months after launch and there still trying to get enough systems out. Crazy. but... yeah, they want to keep that growth with blockbuster titles, and, again, if nintendo doesn't keep churning out hi-quality titles for this holiday, people may want to play MGS4 or Halo3 or whatever else comes out. Nintendo knows Smash will sell even MORE systems.

That's why.

(waiting for update.)

Yoshi should totally throw bouncy eggs everywhere, like in Yoshi's Island. Would be great fun both to shoot and to dodge =)
Im thinking that Zelda will shoot the light arrows at everyone; and Warrio will have his Nuclear like fart.

Smash DS would be awesome!

as for the capabilities of the nintendo DS, use 2d sprites (somewhat like Mario & Luigi: PiT) on a multileveled background.

so it look a bit different but it would way sweet and it would use the solowiimote controls but would actually have 4 buttons so you could jump.

and maybe kirby will use a randomly chosen final smash. one could be Mike, the other UFO, another could be Wheel... there are a LOT of possibilies. i'm hoping for a varied final smash. it'll keep you on your toes!

Sir_NutS
07-05-2007, 06:12 PM
It's clear that kirby, from the e3 trailer, will have the "cook" as his final smash. How this would work? well I think that after he pulls the smash and the cooking bowl appears, it starts pulling the characters that are close to it, sort of like a vortex, and if they do fall in, kirby leeches health from them (as opposed to turning them into food)

Also I think that if the e3 trailer was any indication, wario's final smash will be a massive fat of nuclear proportions, which I would be fine with :p

I wonder what pit final smash will be. Most likely he'll summon an army of centurions, just like in the game. Needless to say, that would be awesome =D. If someone remember my rants (from where I used to troll this kind of threads a lot, in search of massive lulz) I've been eagerly waiting to see pit reborn in a new game, and it might be one of the main reasons I'll be getting his game, so I really hope his character doesn't sucks XD

I hope Sakurai details Kirby's final smash soon. At the moment it looks rather lame. :|

I'm sorry but I had to pull this up.

Kirby's Cook move was one of the funniest moves in the kirby series. I can just picture the effect of him grabbing the ball, putting the chef hat on, then clanking his spatula and tongs together while each other character jumps into the pot against their will. And I do agree, the move will probably heal a little bit of kirby's health.
However I do also hope that his final smash will have some randomness to it so that he could get many different options (e.g. the mike moves).

I'm... not seeing any resemblance. In fact, the two stages couldn't really be more different. The terrain is flat. I mean, really flat. And the enemy leader, King Bulblin, makes cameo appearances. Occasionally, he uses bombs to blast holes in the stage. But don’t worry. The missing chunk will be magically transported via portal to fill in the gap.

From what I've observed of the levels, I don't think that they will be any more animated than what we had previously. I mean, Flat Zone and Onett were the only levels on Melee without gaping holes to fall into. And a bunch of the stages were scrolling or had some type of enemy chasing you around.

But, I may be wrong and I think that a lot of the hardcore Melee players will be pissed off for a variety of reasons based on the fact that it won't be the same game.

dsx100
07-06-2007, 02:08 PM
Man another really nice looking stage. The bridge breaking and resurfacing idea is pretty cool. However, I would have to agree that some of the more hardcore tournament players might get upset with the direction these stages are taking. A lot of friends back at school never liked playing at any other stages other than poke stadium, final destination, and Hyrule Temple. I personally love playing at Brinstar and Mutecity and it would piss them of when I picked those places. However, I am also sure there will be more neutral stages to be revealed. Battlefield already looks like a nice neutral stage.

Drack
07-06-2007, 02:09 PM
To me, it seems to most closely resemble Poké Floats or perhaps Rainbow Cruise but instead of dynamic platforms on a moving stage you just have a bridge. </dripping sarcasm>

Edit to avoid a double post: I always preferred Fountain of Dreams to Battlefield. Even though the platforms protected you from fewer up-smashes, the music was so much better, and it was oh so pretty ;)

I always found stages that didn't have gaps on the ends irksome. As long as there's a nice Final Destination, though, I think this stage will be plenty fun. Look how long it is, too. From the pic with the orc guy, it looks like he will hit players as he runs by, that's probably why Atma was drawing the comparison with Onett.

...... I'm just hoping they don't start releasing assist trophies in the daily updates. There's so much better stuff to release, and having as many surprise trophies as possible in-game would be a good thing =)

They kinda watered down the koopa kids recently to make 'Baby Bowser' I think, so that'd probably be it. Him, or that female magikoopa.

Yeah I know. But hey they did get mentioned in his Melee trophy and SSB is all about nostalgia. I mean, they have Pit in there as a playable so I think anything is possible.

I'm coming a bit late into this but on Final Smashes, the one that racks my brain the most is Snake's. Its kind of a tough one to think about. Someone I know suggested that maybe just like in MGS, Grey Fox could come out of nowhere to back him up (complete with the bloom-filled cinematic moment where he's jumping in from the air towards Snake.) as a second character for a limited time. Different from Assist trophy's in that Fox can do a lot more than just one action and he stays on longer, helping to attack whoever Snake (who's still fully playable) attacks with slices, high jumps, lasers and all that good stuff.

Possibly just summons a Metal Gear. Wouldn't really be like Snake, though.

It should be what I said much, much earlier in the thread:

Metal Gear Rex falls onto the stage. Grey Fox leaps onto it, slicing parts off (which fly wildly and can damage opponents). The MG-Rex eventually swats Grey Fox and Snake pulls out his Stinger. Grey Fox declares "FIRE THE STINGER!" and you push A to blow up the Gear.

I'd love it.

They could have Meowth as a counter move, like Peach uses Toad. :) And when you star KO them they'll do that famous line I only know in Dutch n_n

So many possibilities

In that case my vote goes to Diddy and Dixie to "replace the Iceclimbers".

I know it'll never happen, but I want Gray Fox as a playable character for the sole reason of having an event match where you play as Snake vs. Fox with only A button attacks and proximity mines scattered about everywhere.

But really, having Fox come to assist Snake for his FS isn't a bad idea at all. That or a Metal Gear coming are probably the two most likely I can think of.

They're also in Donkey Konga, the new DK Jet game and they've had their games ported over to GBA. Plus, their trophies showed up in Melee. I'm sure they can work it out :)

I'm more curious about the mini games we'll get in between fights.

Break the targets is simply classic, so there's a big chance we'll see that back.

Reach the finish (pathetic that I played this game just yesterday and not know what they really call it...Race to the finish? :)) has also been there in both Smash games but in Melee it was updated.

Not sure they'll have the trophy collecting thing again, so that bonus game isn't garantueed to be in there...

I'm hoping they'll keep at least break the targets and also include many mini game modes like Melee had.

I rather liked all that and also the collectign of trophies and getting all the silly bonuses (in fights).

On one hand I want Brawl to be a really new game (which it is of course and looking very awesome already), but I also like those classic things that made Melee very awesome.

Off course I'll settle for equally awesome, completely new things.

My guess is though that they'll update the site up to the point that they've covered everything we've seen so far in the trailers and a handful of new stuff, but we won't find out the rest untill we actually play the game.

I wouldn't really want to know EVERYTHING before it comes out.

As for a Metroid stage: if they're using Samus' Metroid Zero Mission design, it is likely that we will get stages from said game. Though to me not as epic as say, Prime one or Super Metroid, Zelda seems to be getting the same treatment.

The place where you fight Ridley in Prime 1 would make a lot of sense, but there's not much you can do with a round platform besides giving it the usual 2, 3 extra platforms in the air.

The waiting continues :)

EDIT: Btw, I must say that this team who's working on the Smash Brothers franchise is one of the few teams I have immense faith in. I get the feeling they won't let me down on this game and we really only had two games in the series yet.
Same can be said about Retro, who are doing an ace job on Metroid so far.

Nintendo made sure all the Donkey Kong related characters (including all of the Diddy Kong Racing lineup except Conker and Banjo) were in their trademark camp before they let go of Rare. Including any of them in Brawl wouldn't be an issue.

I would really like the Step on the Platforms game from the N64 Smash to make a comeback.
And I'd love for Dark Samus from MP2 to be an Assist Trophy. I think I'd be really cool.Or maybe even the 2nd form of Mother Brain from Super Metroid, they might even throw Kraid in there, although he's to big, I'm sure they can make it work :)

Board the Platforms would be nice.

Some other features from N64 smash I'd like to see are animations when you select a character (like the "woo woo" for luigi), custom animations at the start of a battle (like C. Falcon getting out of his car), those personal touches were missing from melee.

Old, but I never saw it posted here:

http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3151290

Sakurai announced Bowser Jr., the "Celda" version of Link, and Ridely, the archenemies of Samus, would all be joining the cast of characters for the Wii release.

We've also, unfortunately, learned of three current characters that will not be returning: The Ice Climbers, Mr. Game & Watch, and Young Link have no home in SSBB. We don't know who exactly will take their place just yet, but Sakurai stated he wants a roster 40 deep, with 1-2 more non-Nintendo characters.

Can we really trust the French?

Almost; any character that isn't a Kong or a Kremling in DKR (ie. everyone except Diddy and Krunch) is owned by Rare. Seventh letter down. (http://www.rareware.com/extras/scribes/25jun07/index.html)

The embarrassing part is that an e-mail I personally sent was answered in that Scribes, so I'd read all those letters before. How I then totally forgot this one is beyond me.

If we got a giant Nintendog to be an assist trophie why would Kraid be too big?

I know he's a fan favorite many want in, but I still have trouble seeing Ridley as a playable character in this. As an assist trophy sure, anything's possible there but as a playable it just seems kind of hard to imagine. Not saying I hate him or anything like that, I don't. And if he were in there I wouldn't complain either but I just have trouble seeing him work as a playable.

Its not a giant Nintendog. It normal size, it takes up the whole screen because it is supposed to be hanging onto the camera lens to block the view.

It's not that hard to see. A few of the characters are actually scaled up or down from their canonical sizes to be fitted into the playable character mold (i.e Bowser, all of the Pokes but Mewtwo, Kirby, MetaKnight), so it'd be pretty plausible to just rescale him to around Bowser's size.

Ya know what would really surprise me? If they'd say at the end of the whole show: "oh and btw, you can pick up Smash Bros. Brawl in stores tomorrow..."

0_0; It'll never happen, but I want someone to pull a stunt like that at least once in my lifetime.
