If you play as Kirby in SSBM, I'm sorry, he's so nerfed, but you can do a few things
1. Get near the edge and inhale someone, quickly jump off and fall for a bit, spit them out, jump up back to the stage and they'll either fall or you can edgehog to kill them
2. If you have more lives than the opponent and you know you'll die soon, do some damage to them (about 20%) then get near as close to the edge as you can with you facing the middle of the stage (do this by getting near the edge and do a roll "off the stage", you won't fall off but you'll get as close to the edge as possible). Grab them and push the back or away direction and you'll kamikaze off the stage killing both of you (great if you have 2 stocks and they only have one)
3. Don't use his b-attacks, other than for recovery purposes or sucking someone in and spitting them off the stage
4. Use his air attacks often especally d-air (l cancel into grabs), b-air (GREAT Knockback), u-air (good move, good knockback), try and avoid the f-air unless you know you'll hit at least two of the kicks

Samus's charge shot looks almost exactly like it does in metroid, so I don't know what your problem is with that one.
I'm going to assume he means the size, fact she can't move while charging, and the ability to save it for whenever she so desires.... but I don't personally see these as being inappropriate differences. Like it's already been said, it's to create new elements of game play.
As far as I'm concerned, the moves were based off the characters, and their traits. All games and characters evolve as new additions to series are released. There are A LOT of new concepts introduce to SSB and especially SSBM... but that's because it's an entirely different game style from where the characters originated. And moreover, the designers have more freedom, especially if the last appearance was on an older platform (game and watch). I mean, he never even fought! So his presence wouldn't be very impressive if all he could do was walk around and choose which animation to perform.
It would be different if they arbitrarily assigned characters foreign abilities (like if Mario had NEVER been seen with a cape) and I know thats been done for some moves, but on the whole, there was very little. And sure Ganondorf never did a warlock punch in past games, but again, he didnt do a whole lot. He DID however have a fist... and he has the ability to use magic... so its not as though its absolutely garbage.
Anyway, games and their characters develop and evolve. If people didn't want that, no copies of Mario golf, kart, tennis, etc. would sell. Peach adopted 2 of her three smash moves through those games! The other was birthed in Mario RPG, in which (like all RPGs) there were many different selectable weapons, and they couldn't possibly limit those to past games... since peach only ever picked up and threw turnips before that.
If the characters were all pulled solely from their original appearances... most would have 0 - 3 attacks. Aaaand... I forget exactly what it is I'm trying to argue.. so I'll stop. :-P

And whoever was saying that "Kirby would suck up Meta-Knight and become Meta-Knight!!!" no, you're wrong, that was dumb. Two completely different characters, Kirby would only have his neutral b move, and as we all should know, most neutral b moves are complete crap compared to the rest of that characters movesYou misunderstood. I didn't mean that Kirby's move set would become Meta Knight's, I meant that the costume Kirby would acquire would make him look like meta knight, because Meta Knight, without his apparel, is actually just a blue kirby.

Ah.... You should really take it EazyP, as in Chill.
I was agreeing with he who brought up Kirby's appearance would have to look extremely similar to Meta-Knight's ecspecially if you chose a Blue Kirby from the Costume Screen.
I was the one who proposed that particular concept. as in, I thought it would sure make things more hectic in battle but I didn't and still don't think that would be the case in Brawl.
But in all seriousness, You should really take it down a notch... or two.

They know they have to grab me the second before I even know I'm going to use the shield and all cpu attacks are always faster than mine 0_0. Maybe I'm just looking for excuses as to why I suck so bad at the game now, but it sure aint what it used to be.

Well the thing is, I used to play this game every day since I got it and I got pretty good at it.
I'm just horribly out of practice. I do know all the moves etc.
The computer isnt even that predictable, but they don't play "fun", They just wack you with random attacks. Sometimes I can't even land a hit 0_0.
Thats why I wish I had actual people to play againts "back in the day". That would have been much more fun.

Luigi will probably be a hidden character again in Brawl. Even though he is Mario's closest counterpart, he is -since the first game- a hidden character always. All of the hidden characters that were on SSB showed up as unhidden characters in SSBM, except for Luigi.
Or do you have to unlock Jigglypuff? I can't remember it was so long ago that I unlocked all the characters...

I'm curious about the characters too of course but I'm really really curious about the extra game modes (if any) :)
I thought the addition of all-star mode and adventure mode was really good. Made for a lot of extra hours of fun.
The missions thing was amazing too. Especially since you have to work hard to unlock them all so it's not like you'll be done in one afternoon of playing.
I'm hoping for a lot of extra modes as well as the trophy thing, only many many more.
Anything less, game modes wise, than SSBM is a step back in my opinion.

O.K. I'd like to hear some speculation about the nature of Brawl when it is put on the Wi-Fi. Does anyone have any insight on how they may organize the system?
Here's what I'm wondering:
-Will there be ratings (i.e. stats)?
-If there are ratings, will the more skilled players be pitted against the more skilled players, and the less skilled players be pitted against the less skilled players? Basically, will players compete against players of their difficulty level?
-Will you be able to choose the games you play in? (Like StarCraft allows)?
-Or will you be able to only specify the settings and stages you would like (Like WarCraft III allows)?
-Will you be able to play ladder?
-Will there be tournaments that can be played online?
-Will Nintendo be able to add patches to fix bugs via the Wi-Fi?
I'm dying of anticipation here, so hopefully we'll know more soon. Anyway, what does everyone think about this? How will this be set up? Please post your thoughts or more questions that we may be wondering about.

I like that idea. :)
I guess adventure mode lacked a little because the game is intended to be a fighting game, cross-genres often don't work well. In this case the platform part could have been better.
Each character having their own rivals as second to last boss would be cool too me thinks.

My biggest hope is for Simon Belmont. They already have one Konami character in there and it doesn't seem like something either they nor Igarashi would have a huge problem with, although I don't know that for sure of course.
I just think right along with Pitt, Simon would make a great throwback character to throw in there. When you think of all the old Nintendo games, Castlevania is just one of the ones on the list. A good idea someone told me too is that he could be a subtle algamation of the other Belmonts via moves etc. Maybe even his alternate "colors" could be Richter (Dracula X was ported on the SNES remember, albiet not in the best way.), Trevor/Ralph, and Julius. Although I think that may be a bit much, just Simon would be good enough for me.
For moves, something they could do is make it so he could have 4 of the classic Castlevania weapons, and he could switch between them somehow...probably by using a B motion. I think this would be a neat setup.
B - Subweapon use, can be charged for slight additional results. (throws 3 knives at once, Axe goes higher/arc is bigger or something, Cross goes further and faster, Holy Water's fire is bigger etc.)
Forward B - Subweapon switch. A small box on top of Simon's percentage shows whats chosen. Selection is of course, Dagger, Axe, Cross, Holy Water (I imagine Stop Watchwould be a bit broken. It'd make a good item in general for everyone).
Up B - Spear Thrust. Simon's third jump (Its Richter's "uppercut" move)
Down B - Slide. If done in the air it becomes that snazzy kick that darts straight down. (Its a bit similar to Falcon Kick I guess aesthetically but it could function completely different.)
For Super Smashes or whatever they are, he could use an Item Crash depending on the subweapon thats currently chosen. That or just fire up the whip.

I believe Nintendo has already said there won't be an option to match up players by skill level. Something about too much developement time has been wasted already or something.

Too much development time to match up players by skill? That seems a bit bogus. Though it might be somewhat difficult to match players up by skill initially, once done the same system could be done with little modificaiton for a wide variety of games. Hell, they could probably sub-contract some bored college kids to build a system that's quite reliable.

That has a rating system doesn't it? What I don't know, not having a DS myself, is if they match players according to rank on Hunters.

yeah you're totally right! thats his special brawl thingie but I'd think it'd be strange to leave his gas only to his special move
But how about something with yoshi, that if you chose a different color in the selection screen. that those different colors (blue, yellow, red) would have minimal but differing gameplay.
For example,
The Red would shoot fire out of his mouth instead of throwing eggs or doing the smash A headbutt
The Yellow would suffer a smaller jump but shoot sand both ways injuring those around him when landing
The Blue would Lose some power or have NO recovery (not even eggs) but have a really high Jump or have a forth jump

Haven't posted in awhile so forgive me for late responses.
First, about the whole Wi-Fi thing, I am sure that Nintendo will have a ranking systems which will allow you to play characters of you rank. Metroid Prime hunters does it so why can't they put it into SSBB. Tournaments are certainly possible but if it is anything like Mario Strikers Charged then it would be up to Nintendo to hold them. Also if it will be anything like MP: Hunters and MarioKart DS, the matches will be agianst random opponents. You won't be able the pick the matches like in Starcraft. So it will most likely be more like Warcraft where they pick the match you play in.
Second, I would love to see Wario use some moves from his platformers especially the tackle and butt slam (don't know the proper name). Waluigi would be realy cool to add. It makes perfect since to add him in my opinion. He will basically be Wario's Luigi. He could jump higher, slide further, and have some similar moves to Wario.
Third, I hate to bring this up agian but, I just don't honestly see what is so wrong with Kirby in SSBM. I know he got nurfed a lot but I just don't see it. I actually kick even more ass with Melee Kirby than I ever did with original Kirby. I just don't see why people find it so suprising that Kirby is my best character. He has like the best recovery in whole game. My friends know better and now they get all tense when I pick him. So forgive me for still liking Kirby equally (if not more) in SSBM.
Finally, I justed wanted to know what you guys think about the music in Brawl. This is OCR after all and I am sure most us listen to the music on this site. I personally want more themes from the games. The Dark World theme would be cool to hear in some form or another. The Brinstar Red Soil area music would be cool to though I don't know if it would fit well into a game that is as fast paced as SSBB. I'm very excited to see how the music will turn out in Brawl. With a full orchestra and opera choir, its going to be very epic. I too hope that more than just main themes are given as music. I mean you can only do Zelda's theme so many ways. Give it a rest and do something like the Dark World, or forfeit Brinstar from Medtroid for Super Metroid's Norfair theme. I think Melee was already moving in this direction with multiple songs for each level and some levels featuring more than just the game's main theme.

I believe in SSB, Kirby and Ness were among the most imbalanced characters. That game was great and I loved it when I began to play it, but after taking it to the next level, I realized the game needed some fine-tuning. I will always love that game though. It was the beginning of a legend. Even now, I foresee sequels to Brawl in the future. If no more games come, it hardly matters; the replay value of each is priceless, 100%.

Link's spin attack is different because he spins so many times, and doesn't seem to really swing his sword - but I'll admit the goofy spinning like a top looks much more fitting when Link's in the air. Ah well, who cares =P

Yeah, those three are pretty obvious, but in Smash Bros. they're clearly much different than they originally were. Link's spin attack is different because he spins so many times, and doesn't seem to really swing his sword - but I'll admit the goofy spinning like a top looks much more fitting when Link's in the air. Samus' charge shot in SB is so completely different from anything in a Metroid game, I won't even go into that. Mario's cape - they can make Link spin like Mario on steroids, but somehow Mario just does a lame little swing? The original cape damaged/killed enemies, and never reflected projectiles back (though it did deflect them into oblivion...). Ah well, who cares =P
well, in WindWaker, Link spins like the tazmanian devil also. so I don't know what, if any, zelda games these people have played
and if you guys are so obessed, even if wrongly so, with original attacks. why havn't you brung up his orginal attack from the NES game? that when his hearts were full he could send a glowing sword across the level to attack the enemies.

thats a good question. and what if you're still waiting to unlock all the secret characters and someone busts out with Samurai Goroh during online play. might ruin the suprise for some people. or maybe the online features wont be available on release day. that would suck

You can be guarranteed that as soon as the game is released, the forums will be filled with critical analyzations of all the hidden characters. I know that I would rather find out the hidden characters for myself -it's so much cooler when you unlock them and are suprised- rather than check a website to know what to expect (which I unfortunately did for Melee). I will stop posting and reading posts here for this reason when the game is released. OverClocked Remix Forums is no anti-spoiler site.

I believe that they said Uematsu is only responsible for the main theme. Other composer(s) will be handling the rest of the music.

I completely forgot about Norfair. That seriously would be cool. Norfair fully orchestrated would just sound awsome. I also like the idea a lot about having multiple BGMs for each stage. Only about 3 or 4 (correct me if I am wrong) stages had multiple themes. I would also like every one of the series in game to be represented with a stage. Fire Emblem didn't have a stage in Melee. Can't think of any others at this time which is good meaning only one series didn't have stage in the last game. More Metroid Stages would be nice as well.

Game and Watch has a stage.
Anyway that is not what I was talking about. I said every video game series represented in SSBB should have a stage. For example, Ganodorf doesn't have is own personal stage but there stages form the Zelda series in the game. Same for Luigi, he doesn't have a stage but any Mario stage could be indentified with him.The same goes for the Pokemon. However, There was no Fire Emblem stage in melee. So my point is, if a character or characters are going to represent their game in SSBB they should have a stage. Basically they should have a Wario, Kid Icurus, and Metal Gear Solid stage in Brawl and if I am not mistaken I believe they already do. The same should go for other new characters.

Yes is does look cool however, a Kirby stage would have been enough as MetaKnight is from the Kirby series so you could indentify a Kirby stage with MetaKnight. Still a realy cool addition though.

There is one thing I would like put into Brawl considering mechanics. There needs to be a way to tell if your character has used his second jump. I have always had problems forgetting that I have used my air jump, after being juggled for a bit. A good player knows what kind of mistakes this can lead to. This is a common problem for me, so it would be cool if something could tell you if you've used your second jump. Maybe a different falling animation could denote, "Hey, watch out: You have no jumps left!" Anyone else have this problem?
Edit: Characters like Kirby and Jigglypuff (also Pit and Meta Knight in Brawl) would only be shown as having no jumps left when they have used all of their "puffs", or "flaps."

Well the game already has different jump animations for the first and second jump so that is the indicator for when you've used the second jump. Most of the characters have a single jump and then the second jump is some kind of flip or something.

When facing right, Pichu's taunt makes him lie down and have some kind of spasm. When facing right, he'll jump instead. Captain Falcon's taunts are also different depending on which way he's facing, though the difference is harder to notice.
For non-Pichu players, winning a competitive match using Pichu is an innate third taunt.

Many fighting games have gone online including many 2D fighting games. DOA Ultimate, Mortal Kombat Deception, Capcom Vs. SNK 2, Street Anniversy Collection, and Capcom Fighting Jam where all on-line on X-box. X-box 360 has DOA 4. PS2 had the Mortal Kombat games online. Oh, dude. The character you played is on top of a tower of names, completely destructible, one-hit-kills type deal. You can just jump off the side and fall to the bottom or beat your way through with aerial down-A and down Smashes and down Specials, earning points on the way. Points give the people who feel like it a reason to work through it, but not a detriment to those who don't want to, just like pressing start to speed through the end credits in the last two.

We need another video like the first Brawl one. A few old characters, and introducing a few new ones. I could go for a few shots of updated Melee characters. And more revealing new gameplay devices and items, too. I'm still vouching for my masks idea. And the different "costumes" for each character. 8-bit Mario, 16-bit Mario, N64-Mario, Paper Mario, and current Mario, all with the same stats, all technically the same character. They just "look" different. Adds some options to the game, it's one of those "little things" that makes the game interesting.

I had a thought last night, which may or may not be new and/or stupid, but I'll share it anyway.
All characters have four (as far as we know) special attacks in Brawl, correct? What if you had the ability to swap out special moves for characters?
I'll use Samus as an example. Say by beating Classic mode with her on Hard, you unlock the Ice Beam. You could then go into a customization mode, where you save out Samus character data to your system, and from there replace, say, her missiles with the ice beam. Then, in multiplayer fights, you could select your saved, revised Samus much like you select a nickname in Melee now.
The moves you unlock, of course, would have to be balanced a little (ice beam, for example, would freeze at high percentages and deal considerable damage [15% or so?] but move slowly), and it would be a royal pain to think up moves for characters who're already struggling filling 4 slots (Ice Climbers, Peach, Fox, etc), but I just thought it was something interesting I'd share. Won't happen this time around though. Maybe the Smash game AFTER Brawl.

SSBM was the Gamecube's best selling game at 6 million units. So it can be expected to sell in an excess of that as long as Wii sales continue to be strong and game itself doesn't suck ass (unlikely judging by the trailers).

I've been watching the second trailer for SSBB, and I keep noticing this: Zero Suit Samus seems to be a clone of Sheik. There's one part where she performs three of Sheik's moves in a row on Link. First the down power, then the forward power, then the down smash. I also notice that her second jump looks much like Sheiks. Another thing I saw was she seems to be very vertically and not so horizontally oriented in her air movement, just like Sheik. Maybe Sheik will still be in the game, or maybe Zero Suit Samus will replace her? It makes sense: Zero Suit Samus has a whip that could be like Sheik's chain. Her gun may replace Sheik's needle storm. Of course, I expect that she will have more than one attack with each aspect of her weapon, but it seems that she will be largely derived from the move set of Sheik.

I am a Zelda player myself and I like to think of Zelda and Sheik as one character: Zelda. When I say I play as Zelda, it means I use all of her moves, including transforming into and playing as Sheik. I change halfway between all of my fights from Zelda to Sheik, an effective method because your opponent is suddenly now facing a much faster, different foe. I also sometimes change from one or the other to return to the stage. I change to Zelda if Sheik can't make the distance, and I change to Sheik because she's better at avoiding spiking off the edge. I once attended a tournament, and the Sheik players I saw would not transform to save themselves. I say that there is 25 characters in Melee, not 26, so I have sharpened my skills with both of Zelda's aspects. Oh, and also, I like the idea of Zelda using her TP weapons.

Just wondering because you guys are kinda making it sound like more than it is. (Unless I'm missing something...)It's kind of wishful thinking, but yeah, we all like to think that Zelda can actually use the sword that she drops as a gesture of capitulation in that TP cinematic.

Never said they couldn't...I'm just saying that everyone's talking about them putting in Zelda's TP weapons when there was really only one that she actually used in TP. Didn't say anything about them putting weapons that weren't in TP on her. That would be kind of weird though.
I could see her using that sword, but only cinematically. I couldn't see her using it in Smash Bros. proficiently.

Since we're on the subject of Zelda, I wonder what they're gonna do about Shiek? We can assume they will be using TP Zelda rather than OoT Zelda, so it wouldn't make any sense to give her transform, since Shiek isn't in TP. Given, you could just forget about that and keep transform anyway, but I'd like to think that Shiek will be a separate character this time around.
Also, I love the idea of giving Zelda her sword. I say she should wield it not with the skills of a master swordsman, but rather she should beef it up with magic.

Also, I love the idea of giving Zelda her sword. I say she should wield it not with the skills of a master swordsman, but rather she should beef it up with magic.I totally agree. If Zelda ends up being oriented around her sword for her move set on brawl, she should enhance it with her magic. Zelda, -it takes a little while to realize- is actually one of the more "heavy" characters in Melee, while in her Zelda form. Her attacks are slow, but powerful. She is quite an exception, because she gets knocked far for a heavy character type. Zelda's smash down is faster than her neutral ground attack, and I usually find myself relying on Nayru's Love to beat off someone close to me, because it responds the quickest. Zelda's greatest asset is her midair lightning kick, a deadly attack stronger than many characters' smash attacks. Few players realize how benefitial Farore's Wind can be in combat as well. Its reaction time is practically as fast as Fox's shine, and a person hit by it will fall over. I would like Zelda to remain a strong, slow character in Brawl, by "beefing up" her sword with magic.

That was why I mentioned Light Arrows, remember?
They're obviously going to have to add a repetoire of attacks to her, like they did with the first one. I was just pointing out that he said "all her weapons", when she only has... two, one of which she just drops to the ground.
I sense a new attack for her. Sword drop as her aerial smash down.

(similar to fox and falco's diference in blasters, but with a larger difference)I would rather have Zelda's transform be replaced with Light arrows, because I (even though I play as her) see Sheik as a too imbalanced character. She is currently at the top of the tiers. Also, Nayru's Love, dubbed by you, "her stupid crystal reversal thingy" , is a necessity for Zelda. Not so much in use as a reflective shield, but when Zelda finds herself in close proximity with a faster responsive character, it is a great offensive attack. Zelda would be in trouble without it, not to mention it would be dumb if they removed one of the gods' magics. They should keep all three. Of course, if she changes to a sword-fighting style, she may not need to rely on the move as much.

I've noticed Nintendo's website is not showing much of Brawl, and it is difficult to find a link to the actual site from the Nintendo website. When can we expect them to start advertising it? Will it be around the time that the release date is announced? I'm pretty sure that TP was meant to played on the wii. They probably altered gameplay so that it would work on GC because they had originally announced it to be for GC and they didn't want to disappoint anyone. Also because the wii was brand new when TP was released and not everyone had one and they were really hard to get. Had to make it more avaliable.

Are you... kidding? The game was scheduled for release on Gamecube in November 2005, a year before it came out for Wii, but was pushed back to fine-tune and add a little more content. It wasn't announced in development for Wii until E3 2006. How are you going to say that a game that was almost completed for one system and then barely altered before it was also developed for another system belongs on the other system? Gamecube got the true-to-form version, no last-minute alterations, without a doubt (just look at friggin' Wight-handed Link on Wii). Whether that makes it more enjoyable is entirely a matter of personal choice.

recongnizable to whom, may i ask? Just because some character is obscure to you doesn't mean it's obscure to everyone. and 40 characters is sorta large for super well known characters that fit into Smash gameplay.
also, with this new found info (for me) i'm now worried that this game might not have the same "soul" as the previous games. Just as what happened to the Burnout series when EA came into play, takedown had a completely different feel to it compared to 1 & 2. unfortunately i can't see Brawl not letting this happen, so i'm a *tiny bit* worried. not that it'll be better or worse but just that it will feel different.

I have a friend who was down at EB games today, and put down 120$ in preorders for a few different games, including Brawl. It, along with many of the others (Metroid, etc), were slated much later then expected.
Apparently, Brawl is listed for December- how else to make massive amounts of money, but to release at christmas?
This is also, however, unconfirmed. He did put money down for it, though.
Really? My EB Games won't let me put money down for Brawl yet...
maybe they want to incorporate some kind of reason as to why all they charecters have assembled.
First thing I thought when I read this was Mario Party...
Oh god no...
"WHO IZ TEH BESTEST!!! U CAN BE TEH SUPASTAH!"
Mario, Luigi, DK, Peach, Yoshi, Wario: "Yahoo!"
Roy, Fox, Samus, Link and pretty much everyone else just stares stupidly: "wtf?"

It's actually really hard to tell if you're serious or not.
Of course I am teh serious (this isn't helping is it?).
Mario party and soul calibur had rather.... interesting story lines. Maybe something a little different, but as a rule I would say, if you make a story, don't make it half-ass like the superstar thing..... Otherwise take it out, cause it will take a way from the wonderfulness of the game.

That's pretty much along the lines of what I'm thinking too. I think he wants the game to have a much more serious atmosphere. Maybe it'll incorporate something similar to the Soul Calibur series, such as each character has a story and a background behind them. Who knows?
The thing about that is, SSBM already has a much more serious atmosphere than your typical Nintendo game, as evidenced by its Teen rating. The character models in SSBM are much more realistic than most other 1st party Gamecube games. How much more "serious" can they make it without turning it into post-apocalyptic grunge-core cartoon violence? I don't know about you, but I don't want to see Mario going around stabbing people with rusty nails.
Ok, so that's a little extreme, but you get the point.

It boasts completely bloodless violence that is harmlessly cartoonish. (i.e. person gets slashed by a sword and goes flying fifty feet.)
For that matter, I wonder why LozOoT was rated only E. In some dungeons, the Shadow Temple and Underneath the Well I believe, there were bloodstains all over the walls and floors. Beneath the Well, there was also a room where there was some green toxic liquid in which skeletonized hands were sticking out of. The well also had a room where there were seemingly some type of torture devices. There were chains hanging from posts and similar apparatuses to a cross- all with bloodstains beneath. Also, the combat features animated blood flying often, though it is usually discolored green or blue. Slash the walls in Jabu-jabu's Belly, and blue blood will fly. At the end of the game, Ganandorf once coughs up blood clearly, and when Link executes the final few blows against Ganon, he throws blood all over the place. So can anyone explain why ESRB rated LoZOoT E, yet SSBM T? Maybe they just change their standards over time...
One more question: Those of you have played LoZOoT and LoZ Majora's Mask, why is Ruto's model from OoT made to where a dress in MM as Lulu? Tell me Nintendo didn't offend because Ruto was naked originally...

HB, I'd say to both your questions: change of taste. Yeah, I agree with you, SSBM shouldn't have been T, but I don't think that OoT should have been T. Its pretty minimal, but I guess the rating increased over time. Maybe more younger players, I don't know but who know maybe a later Super Smash Bros will be M....... or not, lol.

I can't imagine an M rated Smash game. It brings a funny picture to mind though... Link slashes Mario and blood and guts fly, spattering the surrounding area. Characters slip when stepping on the gore. When characters hit the screen from an upwards KO, their bodies get broken apart, and the screen gets blood all over it, obscuring the view for the players, until it runs down it and drips off. The Home Run Bat Smash attack, instead of sending you flying, would cut you in half, or bash your head off. Haha, this game would be called Super Smash Bros Slaughter. By the way, I hope it never comes to this. A game like this would disappoint me horribly.

See, these are the characters I don't think should be in a Smash game. Not because I don't like them, same w/ FF7 chars. I love FF but none of the characters would fit in a Smash game. They're too...realistic (?) or something. I probably would've thought the same w/ Marth and Roy had I known who they were and that they were going to be in Melee.

Final Fantasy would work IF, instead of appeasing to the thousands of faggots and putting in characters from FF7 onwards, they instead made characters out of the old lovable classes. Having Cloud or Squall or [insert faggot here] in would be gay as hell, but having a Warrior with shiny red armour or a good old Black Mage would be awesome.

Yeah, I agree. But you've got to remember that untill now, every Smash Bros. character has been a hmm, how do I say it... 'real' characters. If they include Black Mages for example, they should include Paratroopas aswell. So I think it's more likely, if they do add FF characters (Don't think that's gonna happen though) they'll add some of those 'faggots' you're talking about :P

What the fuck are you idiots on?
Final Fantasy characters aren't realistic. They're just as over-the-top as anything Nintendo ever came up with. Somebody like Cloud or Squall would fit in absolutely fucking perfectly with the Super Smash Bros. design ethic precisely because of that. They even have pre-existing Limit moves that could easily be adapted to serve as SSB special moves. Not only that, FFVII-and-onwards characters are pretty much the only ones that actually HAVE distinctive moves instead of generic techs or spells. I could see Mog being a character, but nobody else pre-VII is really that goddamned unique in combat terms.
I don't care whether you fucking like FFVII or not; that's your own prerogative. But not a one of you is going to sit there and tell me Cloud doesn't fit the atmosphere, because he DOES. People said this same stupid bullshit when they announced Solid Snake, and it's wrong for exactly the same reason.

You forgot to mention that the Shadow Temple is made out of HUMAN CORPSES. The only applicable answer is that the ESRB are either inattentive or just hypocritical fuckwads. Ocarina of Time deserved a T rating, end of discussion.
One more question: Those of you have played LoZOoT and LoZ Majora's Mask, why is Ruto's model from OoT made to where a dress in MM as Lulu? Tell me Nintendo didn't offend because Ruto was naked originally...
Most of the other Zoras were naked; I'm pretty sure it was just the character.
Also note that I'm not actually requesting that Cloud be in the game. I can live without extra Final Fantasy advertising until Squeenix remembers how to write stories that don't fucking suck balls.

Man, I sense so much anger of late. Has it really come down to squabbling over someones spelling and grammar in this thread? People need to calm down a little. Surely there is something a little more constructive than "I hate (insert FF7 character) and they souldn't be in SSBB." I mean, post about your thought on new items or new adventure levels or something. The fact is, Nintendo will do whatever they wnat to with SSBB, and when it comes out, we'll play it, judge it, and say yay or gay. Until then, let's keep the "that character idea is gay" flaming to a minimum. It's getting old. No. Really. It's getting old.

We definately need to start talking about something else other than characters. I can not stress how many times people mention FF VII characters. I am not even going to get into that. Read my previous posts, which aren't that far back in the thread, for my opinion on that.
Here is a list of topics I think we can discuss that does not concern characters.
1. Game Play (new mechanics, destructible envirnoments, classic vs. motion sensitive etc.)
2. Minigames (end cerdits, remeber it was said motion controls would not be used for "main" gameplay)
3. Music (Come on, this is OCR. Don't tell me nobody thinks about it)
4. Stages (Classic and New)
5. Cinematics (Opening, Character endings)
6. Nostalgia (Trophies, Character Profiles, Stage History)
7. On-line Play and Wii-connect 24
And I am sure that there are much more.

I just spent the last ten minutes reading about the last ten pages. Very quickly obviously...and nothing came of it. This thread, for all intents and purposes is dead. All I have really seen is a bunch of members who have joined quite recently with relatively few posts (though I am not one to talk) degenerate this thread to that of one on GameFaqs where all they do is insult each other like a bunch of twelve year olds stating facts and claims rarely qualifying their statements. Something like this is an eyesore and should seriously be locked unless if the quality of topic and/or posts improves. Although there is a sense of elitism present in these forums, there is a reason. As far as creating public transcripts with the intent of improving society, elitist methods are what propel the rest to higher levels of thinking.
Sorry about that last line. If you did not understand, read up on James C. Scott's work and do something productive.
But seriously. Bottom line: improve -something-.
