EDIT: And I have a question about a different collab - are Pu_Freak and Leepmiester going to do that Dr.Willy/Sigma collab they talked about?
I'm still in for it, don't know about leepmeister though
EDIT: This has got to be one of the most active Projects around. I'm amazed. Too bad not all of the remixers are, but you can't expect EVERYTHING to be perfect.
By the way, Pi, have you already tried to contact DarkeSword about transferring us to Site Projects?

Can you only export as Midi? Well, I suppose that the WIP forum on our site would be the place to post it.
well I could go through all the trouble of 'dressing up' the bit I've got right now in Reason and stuff, but the main instruments, namely the guitars, won't sound any better than in midi, so I guess I should just save myself the trouble. It's not really an official WIP yet, more like a small illustration of the idea I've been having for this mix.

I just hope the reason that some of the mixers are less active is becuase they are really busy making brilliant remixes.

And one final question (For now): Who the hell are we going to remix in Crescendo To Chaos 2?
-Yes
-It's up to them
-I'unno. We'll use that Wikipedia page I brought up earlier/
If so, where should I post it?
There's a WIP thread there where you can post.

Fishy will be collaborating with me on my track (which is now 100% complete arrangement wise) and providing some hot guitar action. Just so you know, it's the phantasy star 4 dark force theme. So when you implement the stuff on the forums could you include Fishy as one of the remixers.

ah geez, I just remembered that Big Bad Baby Bowser from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island would have made one hell of a remix.
I could totally picture that with dual wailing guitars, rapid slap bass, a cool hammond organ, and high speed drums. Maybe it's a good idea for volume 2

I think having Chaos from Final Fantasy 1 at the end of the next project would be pretty cool, so the rest of the tracks were building up (or Crescendo-ing) to Chaos.
Also, I think a remix of the final boss theme from Jet Set Radio would be pretty cool. I can't remember the name of the boss, but the name of the song was 'Grace and Glory'. It was pretty cool.
EDIT - Oh, and Pi, could you make me a mod please? I really wan't to hear Pu_Freak's new version of 'Rise Of The Shadow'.

EDIT: Pi, I also added more of Balrog's theme in my song. I don't now if you want to update that at the track list.

Damn Right Its my territory! So, you wan't a sort of marching beat, am I right? I think a floor tom or perhaps Timpani is more suitable for the particular mood of the song than a snare... Hmm... If you wan't me to record a live loop, your going to have to wait a while - I don't have access to recording hardware at home (or even a drumkit for that matter), but my school might let me record it... and if they don't I know a couple of people with 'bedroom recording studios' (and drumkits).
Although, only the school has access to timpani. And I don't even know If I have permission to use them. But I'll see what I can do.

Sorry for the absence; I've been busy in real life. I'm doing some reprogramming on the K. Rool WIP while taking your comments into consideration. Hopefully a new version will be up soon. I've also been thinking about doing a Parasite Eve mix, and have some plans laid out for that. Unfortunately, I don't have constant internet access yet, but I'll try to keep up and listen/comment the other WIPs as much as I can.
So yeah. Standard "I'm still alive" post.

andyjane, I was think'n... your work is good, despite the shortness. But the real point I want to bring up are track names.
Originally, I was thinking Latin for every track. Then, I was thinking a word related to some mental situation might work.
Although Bowser would still be cool as Lacertae Pertinax (Stubborn Lizard). Sumthin' like that. See, he's stubborn 'cause he keeps kidnapping Peach to no avail. Get it? Aww... :(

Well, now, lets not get carried away  . Don't forget that no characters in this album will be in the next one. Anything done with Bowser, for example, has to be done now.
I did think of fronting it off with Majora's Mask, which I have recently developed an obsession with. I don't know, it's just very... interesting. Anyone else have that? Great game, very mysterious, very engrossing gameplay. Something about it just gets your stare, pulls you down into a blackness you can't break away from...
...huh? Where'd I just go?

Well I have it (not on emulator mind you, good old N64 is the way to go! ), and In My Very Humble Opinion Majora's Mask was a BIT inferior compared to Ocarina Of Time. Yes, Majora was extremely cool, with all the transforming and time travel, but there's definitely a reason Ocarina Of Time at one point was elected best 3d game ever. I didn't for example like the fact Majora's mask only contained 4 bosses (5 counting the final one), compared to the 8 (or how much were there?) in OoT.
Anyway, the blackness you were talking about, I get that with all the zelda games, that's a natural reaction of a human being playing a zelda game

I definately get that with Majora's mask. Sure OoT was better in most ways, but MM carried a serious mood with it. Everything was just so dark and gloomy. It captured in the majority of the game what OoT had at only a few parts, like the shadow temple, dark hyrule, and then the battle with ganon (probably a few more I didn't think of). I mean, it was just a mask, and the last fights were pretty dumb in MM, and yet I absolutely love majora for seemingly no reason. I really think it was the mood that set it apart. And naturally, mood is all set up by the music >:D
Sorry for the rant, but I was surprised to find someone else to describe a similar opinion on the game:)
Pi_R_[]ed
11-09-2006, 06:09 AM
(Sheesh, first post after the art is put up, and no comment?)
Completely agree, though. Video "games" aren't just so. One like Majora's Mask, it makes you feel. While the story was not as much so as OoT, its the uniqueness that sets it apart. The time travel, the individual stories for each character, and so much more.
It's not just another game. It's art, possibly more than a game with pretty graphics, or great story, but because the story it told was interactive. No true set tracks to follow. But at the same time, there were the bosses. It's the in-depth "everything"-ness that I love.
And the mood, of course

Its a little too light right now. Some of it sounds like you could go down a really erratic, crazy path if you do it right. Frantic, sorta ants-in-Ganon's-pants. Or something, I just think at it's current state, it could serve to be a bit darker. Good so far, but needs the work. I understand that you have a whole bunch of other projects to work on, so I guess I can provide some leeway somewhere down the line, if things crap up on you, schedule-wise.

Liquid Ocelot is what happens when Liqiud Snake Dies and Revolver Ocelot gets Liquid's arm transpalnted and somehow Liquid Snake can control Ocelot at certian times. I may be a bit inacurate, as I get most of my info from Wiki.

umm wasn't kirby taken? If not, I'd like to sign up for it! :)
The source tune is, compared to Sephiroth's theme, extremely easy to adapt, and it would be cool if I could alternate between two recordings, since Sephiroth is being a bitch to arrange (having sort of a writer's/composer's block now :P).
So I could, figuratively speaking, blow off some steam by remixing a much easier track. Of course I don't mean the remix would be any worse compared to sephiroth, it's just that it would be less ambitious. :)

I was considering him earlier but its an incredibly hard song to remix as its a great song already and there's no real reason to remix it.

Hey, I'm back!
Tensei-San - Give it till the WIP deadline. In fact, that goes for anyone who wants a second track.
Spunodi - A little too light. At the moment, not the right feel, considering the whole album. Good work so far, though.
DeathBySpoon (And pretty much anyone who's going to make suggestions) - Let me provide an example, for now, or the next album. Bowser's already in it. Baby Bowser won't be in either, so you'd better hope leep's doing something there. On the other hand, Majora's Mask is totally up for grabs next time around.
Gangstar - Looks like thats the path I'm gonna have to take. As soon as that we hit Nov. 19, Ill put up some new guys, take down some others.

I heard a song on the radio, and it got me thinking...
Music needs to have a feel. You know the Circiut City commercials playing "Just What I Needed" by the cars? Well, I heard it on the radio. The whole buch of yellow and orange colors, just really hit me in a great way. Good music can do that.
A few days later, I heard a song I've never heard before, and unfortunately, I still haven't figured it out. I was too lost in thought to care about the lyrics, but I really got some great imagery off of it. The double-helix, (you know DNA?), with two guitars, back and forth. Hey, if anyone knows the track, tell me. I really would love to hear it again.
But my point, to any mixers planning on guitar, try it, if it's not too late. My thoughts? Dedede would be perfect for this idea. Two, or maybe even three guitars, fading in and out, back and forth, in some sort or Double/Triple-Helix rotation thing. Sounds kewl.
EDIT: Actually, no, Jazz is like the New Coke, it'll be around forever, hehehe... I take that back. Gary Oak's "Champion" theme from red/blue would sound KILLER like that.

Spunodi - A little too light. At the moment, not the right feel, considering the whole album. Good work so far, though.
A few things have prevented me getting the right feel - such as work and degree assignments. However, bear in mind that it is a template for eventual lyrics.
I plan to rework the drums to give them more punch, re-arrange the 'synth' solo I've added to make it more energetic and dance-y (plus darker - think 'Faithless - Insomnia' influence,) plus I also plan on getting better XD
If you think I'm heading in the right direction, or you feel the need to bring up some suggestions for certain things then please let me know - I will be working on it further on in the month.

You mean like melodic cells? The first thing that came to mind when I read your post was Philip Glass with guitars. That could be interesting...
By the way, my new WIP is finally up at the (private) forum. File host is working again.

Melodic Cells? Give me something to look for, I'll tell you if that's what I mean. Hope so.

I'm going to quote Wikipedia quoting someone else, I guess:
The 1957 Encyclopédie Larousse defines a cell as follows:
"a small rhythmic and melodic design that can be isolated, or can make up one part of a thematic context. A cell can be developed independent of its context, as a melodic fragment. It can be the source for the whole structure of the work; in that case it is called a generative cell."
Basically, a cell is a motif that a song is built on. So, for example, two guitars could play two different cells (melodies, arpeggios, etc.) in tandem with each other, with interplay via fade. I'm not entirely sure if this is what you're describing or not.
And the WIP is downloading fine for me. Grr. Computer hate.

Nope. The WIP is working now. All check.
And, this cell thing is starting to sound better and better. Who would you say, are the BEST two guitarists on OCR? We need them. A live two-guitar collab would be sick. The MIDIs over at vgmusic only have three instruments, 2 guitars, and a bass. You thinknig what Im thinking? We'll need a great bassist, too.

Is this for the Gary Oak song? Or are you planning on using this for something else? While it is true I have been playing for almost nine years, I would want to point out that my guitar setup/recording chain suxx donkey balls, and thus, my humble skills on guitar are compromised by stupid external noise and a high latency.
Even though I've bought an M-Audio Fasttrack, it turned out to total crap due to the lack of specific ASIO-drivers for it, and now I've even had to disconnect it due to the hardware conflicts it gave me, so it's just sitting on my desk.
To sum it up, I'm not THAT good, I'm sure there are loads of better guitar players here (LuIzA is definitely one of them)

Lovin' the feedback. After several suggestions for both, I guess it's a sure thing we'll be having both someone from Guilty Gear, and Gruntilda. I guess I'll have to go listen to the soundtracks to get a feel of what would fit.
Expect some harsh criticism as the deadline approaches. mlo already knows what I'm talking about. Anything I feel doesn't currently fit, or is of general poor quality with few updates, you'll be carpet-bombed with complaints. Here's what I'm looking for:
-Quality
-"Feel", in terms of the whole project fitting together
-Updates, because one in two months can't be good
Seriously. Doesn't everything have to be perfect? Be willing to change major portions of the track, or the whole thing altogether. To give some hope, not all of you will be attacked. Those ones, that's who to look for towards inspiration. Obviously, they did something right you need to be watching out for. Also, don't be afraid to utilize what you have. If someone on the project plays an instrument, ask for help! ANY live instrument can make a huge difference.

Okay, here comes the harsh stuff. Some of the mixes aren't quite up to par, others I have personal gripes with. Here stuff goes, and let's hope no one gets mad. I understand they're works in progress. Not as bad as I thought most of it would be.
Andross-
Waiting...
Bowser-
Waiting for the guitar. Can be a little repetitive, but I suppose the guitar will cover that up. We'll see.
Dark Force-
Hey, whats the deal? You removed it from the WIPs thing, said you were done, and then pulled or something? I never got a response for that...
Dark Gaia-
Not particularly fond of this so far. Not only is it repetitive (and loud), but it isn't that close to the right feel, regarding the whole album. Something good could come of this, but not without work.
Dark King-
No mixer yet. This may be be removed.
Deus-
Something strange, in that I can't seem to find this mix. It might be floating around on this thread. But I can't find it...
Dracula-
Nothing yet here, either. Till Sunday, then it's open.
Dr. Robotnik-
Last you said, you were going to make it darker, but also more "dance-y". Be very careful with that.
Dr. Neo Cortex-
Nothing yet...
Sigma-
Sounding very good so far. Like the feel, nothing about this one so far.
Eve-
No one yet. Might be removed.
Ganondorf-
"Obviously it's not finished". Good thing, too. It's real early, so Ill leave this one alone.
Gary Oak-
Waiting...
Giygas-
Waiting...
King DeDeDe-
Don't really want to take this off. But, no mixer yet.
King K. Rool-
I spoke to mlo about this privately.
Lavos-
Waiting...
Liquid Ocelot-
Most likely, he's gone.
M. Bison-
Whats with the weird way you are ending this? I really don't like it too much...
Master Hand-
Waiting...
Mother Brain-
Needs a mixer...
Saturos and Menardi-
This doesn't even feel like a track. It feels like a build-up, like an intro. Am I the only one that thinks that?
Sephiroth-
Very messy. I like that it's all guitar, but it needs work. No doubts, though.
The Sinistrals-
Like where it's going, but needs more variety, currently.
Sloprano-
Repetitive through the whole thing. Some parts I didn't recognize at all. Just because it's a joke boss, doesn't mean you can't include themes from other bosses in Conker's Bad Fur Day...
Now, for anybody that doesn't get a WIP in by Sunday, that track goes up for grabs. First one to get a quality WIP in gets the track. That way, things stay fair, but give others a chance to jump in.
I have a WIP, dood! </prinny> If I catch you on MSN I'll present it to you.

Man, thats a bit harsh. I mean, seriously, what if someone is working on the track, but something really bad is happening in thier personal life or something? You should probably PM them if they don't make the WIP deadline. Don't get me wrong, I think its a good thing that we drop people who are being lazy and shit straight away, but there are other things that could mean they don't get it posted by Sunday.
Not that I'm going to be late, of course. But REASON just wen't and got all messed up. If you don't like the WIP that I post on Sunday, thats because i'll have to post a Sibaleus version instead. Hopefull I'l be able to get REASON working tomorow.
And what did you mean about not liking Pu_Freaks M Bison mix ending? I thought it was great.
EDIT - the reason my Sibaleus one sounds so crappy is because you cannot do Trance in Sibaleus. God knows how Ive tried. Also, you can't add effects.

YOu shouldn't. Stay with the deadline. Just exclude some people that have good reasons (no pun intended) not to be able to make it from it. Extend it for them only. Like the-almighty-tallest said, it won't be the only time that someone can't make the dealine because of various reasons. I suggest keeping the dealine as it was, but give the remixers with problems (like tallest) some more time.

I have a feeling that your disliking of the ending has more to do with your taste in musical genre than my undoing . But this isn't the end yet. There's still a part coming.

Well I think I've got some new ideas for my sephiroth arrangement by taking a few days off, so I'll get to work as soon as possible.
Anyway, about the King Dedede mix, I'd love to do it. I finally got my hands on the Garritan Jazz & Big Band sample library, and I think King Dedede's theme would be perfect for a fast, hectic jazz piece (nothing mellow, mind you), even though I understand that would be bending the rule restrictions a bit :)

Yeah, I should probably explain.
Yes it is 99% done, and andy is just tweaking it for completion atm. We haven't replied yet because we're still not sure what we want to do with it yet. We're much further along than most people, and we have no idea how long the entire project is gonna take, it just seems a shame that its gonna sit there finished for what could be a very very long time without being heard.
The best idea we've come up with so far is this: We wanted to take this track off the project and then instead, make a new track for the project later on. This way, me and andy can finally get something on OCR, and the project would still get a track from us also, although we havent thought about what track we would do instead. This is of course assuming that our track got accepted, we can't be sure but we're fairly confident its a solid arrangement with good production.
Oh and Pi_R_[]ed, i heard you thought this was a bad idea, but i'm not sure what the problem is, as i said, we're more then willing to do another track for the project at some time. Perhaps you would like to hear the track first? It might not even fit in with what you want. Sorry about the fuss.

I understand what you are looking for; I think I may have mentioned before, but the kind of thing I'm gonna go for is like Insomnia by Faithless which is a very dark tune yet a dance masterpiece with euphoric overtones.
Did that description make me sound like a wine critic?
One thing that is holding me back a little is my inability to sing correctly (voice is okay, just need to learn how to use it.) I aim to be having singing lessons once the Christmas season has been and gone and the lyrics I have planned with the style I have in mind should rectify the O LOLZ - ITZ HAPPEHY vibe which sometimes emanates.
Did that description make me sound like a wine critic?
The lyrics mangle the original and paint a picture of an insane persona, but insanity which justifies and glorifies itself.
Now, I understand you have only one WIP from me, but the schedule of my job and my degree course intercepts my ReMixing and OCR-ing. But rest assured I am not going away - I should be providing something in time for the 12 days of Christmas.

Wats up guys, I have a pretty big update for my song over at the private forums.
I said this over there, but I'll say it again so everyone will know.
I'd like to get real guitar for this if anyone can actually play it. Both lead and rythm. Writing guitar tab for it would take ages, I can give u guys an mp3 and midi for each part.
The hardest part would prob be the rythm guitar in the 2nd to last section. Tensei-San was the first to offer, so you got first dibs dude. The guitar sound cannot be overly distorted, but it has to have some distortion I tried to create the sound I would like to hear best in the song. I think the lead is good, but the rythm guitars in the first section could sound better. I used guitar rig 2 to create the guitar sounds in the demo.
I am hoping to get the guitar work done soon, bc I wanna submit this asap so I can feedback on it if it doesn't pass before we release the project.
Oh yeah, I though about naming the song 'My Obligation to Oblivion' wat do guys think?

But honestly, you've got better source material if you chose Dr. Wily instead of Sigma. The Mega Man 3, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 6, and Mega Man 7 Wily Battle themes are much better pieces that most all of Sigma's battle themes.

Thing is, though, his Sigma WIP is pretty badass. Have you not heard it? Very cool Trance mix. And remeber, theres loads of Dr. Willy remixes on the site (although they are mostly from Megaman 2). And his themes getting mixed again for the Megaman IV Remix Project. Sigma deserves to get a remix. Plus, it was up to Doomsdasy to decide whether to do a Sigma remix or a Dr. Willy remix in the first place (on the fron't page, It originally said ''Dr Willy/Sigma'').

I was actually thinking about doing a nice jazz mix of the Dr. Willy Megaman 2 theme myself, done with saxaphone as a main instrument....
....But Ive decided instead to do a jazz mix of all the Dr.Willy themes (well, a lot of them, anyway), with different main instruments for different themes (saxaphone for Dr Willy Megaman 2, though).

I think it may have something to do with Reason getting all messed up and me not being able to submit a proper mix for the original deadline (a week ago). Actually, could provide electric guitar for my Garry Oak mix? That would be brilliant.

Oh and if you're already recruiting guitarists for it, why not come up with a WIP? :P

Haha, I'm trying to wonder how you can make something evil out of Tetris :) Nice changes!

Not meaning to overload you in collab requests, but your name has been mentioned a few times in the thread to the Gary Oak remix (http://chaos.iforumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=25&mforum=chaos), and I've been thinking in doing it in a fast upbeat boogie/rock'n roll style (even though Tallest, the guy I'm collabing with on it, probably hasn't heard my version of it yet).
It would be cool if it could be done in the style of Joe Satriani (if that name doesn't ring any bells, download his 'satch boogie', it should give you a good idea for what I'm aiming at :)), and since you're so proficient at playing guitar (probably more than me  ), I'd love to have you playing (at least some of) the lead guitar for it. :P

I don't know why the forums wouldn't have sent you a confirmation email yet, but why don't you post the WIP here for now, as others have done?
And let me point out something that is becoming all too clear. As projects develop and grow, they begin to take on a life of their own. I now realise this project, while still about bosses, is hardly centered around evil. Believe me, this isn't a problem, especially when I get to hear Gary's theme done in the current path it's going. Now, I don't want anyone losing site of the goal, so I'm readjusting it:
MAKE BOSS MUSIC SOUND LIKE BOSS MUSIC, WHETHER THAT IMPLIES EVIL, INSANITY, BAD-ASSNESS, KICK-ASSNESS, POWER, WHATEVER.
We've got some good examples popping up that show exactly what Im talking about, both positive and negative. Finding the right way to set a piece is great, but stretching things to fit isn't always the best course of action. Any questions? I think this is a good move, or rather, I sure hope so.

Look at it this way, we ride this stay as long as we can, because we're getting the most attention here. If we switched out now, we couldn't get front page exposure, we wouldn't get glanced at, only by people in WIPs anyway. It's if and when we start to stagnate that we switch, to give ourselves a jumpstart.

Hey guys. I decided that I do the same as PI did, and would write some small reviews of all the current WIPS. I wrote exactly what I thought, and I do not sugar coat anything, so don't be offended (i'm sure most of you won't ). Make sure you check where you are on the botom of this post, and Consider that the official opinion of where your mix stands. We are at the stage where your mix should be of quality, even though this project is relatively young.
BOWSER: Leepmeister
HUGE Improvement on this song. Nicely done. The thing that needs work now is mastering: compression/EQ, and all that. The guitar could be a lot heavier too. The drum samples also are too waek right now (EQ and volume would help). If the drums drive this song and everything is louder and a little more aggressive, i'd be totally satisfied. Also, that last note of the song sounded odd...anyway, Keep up the good work. :)
DARK GAIA: James George
"Still just a midi rip..." That needs to change soon. The sounds you have are decent but theres way too much machine gun repetition going on, mainly because you midi ripped. Brass could also be way louder. Need to add some reverb to everything, and add depth so it sounds like your orchestra is in a concert hall or studio. A little on the strings and lots more on the brass/percussion gives this illusion. You could also change stereo width to make it even more realistic. Hope to hear some new stuff soon...
DR. NEO CORTEX: Rexy
I dig some of the ideas here. It's unique in a lot of ways. I just think some parts sound empty, but its a WIP so thats explainable. That odd plucky lead also got on my nerves after a while. If you can, use the electric guitar more and that annoying pluck less. It'd be really cool if you had some real guitar playing in there too. Might help to fill out the sound a bit more.
SIGMA: Doomsday
I like this one too, but when the breakbeat comes in, and that low synth plays, it seems there isnt enough happening. Here's my suggestion: That melody that plays in the beginning and end, on the wierd Sytrus like synth needs to come back in the middle of the song and get really intense(preferably on a sytnth that is more like the ones you use later in the song). If that wouldve happened, then this track would be in the clear, but it just bored me. I really do like the sound you have achieved, but there needs to be that slightly epic little part where the theme comes back. Right now, its too long and not varied in that mid section. The length could also stand to be cut down a litte.
GANONDORF: Cerrax
This is one of my favorites when it gets going. This is an example of what fast paced orchestral should be. I already commented on the xylo being too monotonous and everything needing more accents. In addition id like to hear some brass rips and more staccato brass too. More PERCUSSION! Very good job overall. I'd like to hear a new WIP soon.
GARY OAK: Tensei-San/the-almighty-tallest(collab)
Listening to both tiny little clips you guys made, Tensei-San's is the one you guys should use. The other is, not very boss like at all. I hope you guys have gotten some stuff done together since this is a collab.
GRUNTILDA: The Joker
I like the ideas but slayer really is awful. There has to be a better preset than that lol. Some of the notes on the cellos in the intro sound odd too. Overall, there isn't much here yet to critique.
M.BISON: pu_freak
The first 30 seconds got me involved...i really appriciate the sound you have. The piano and chimes make it even better, and I got more excited, but after 2:00, this neets to go somewhere...the build is too long. take everything you have done and condense it slightly. And PLEASE MAKE THE SNARE SAMPLE BLEND. Pan to center. Reverb. That's it. The piece then dies a little at 2;30......AND THERE'S a SECOND INTRO! This is getting rediculous!!! This piece builds up for over 2 minutes, dies down, builds up and finally gets there ( i know theres no drums yet). THat is imply too much. As a listener, I do not feel I hould have to patiently wait for your song to do something. You have to keep me interested. That "C" section does not even need to be there.... Very very nice job on the first half. I
love it, but it needs to jump in after the intro, not die down and build. If you build MORE into the two minute mark (double the string octaves, more percussion, etc.), make a slight pause and have the mix kick in, it'd be amazing. More high strings doesn't mean violins playing in the upper register, but use of the violas/violins in the low range. Its all bass/cello right now. If you can find a more dark and full chime sample that'd be great. If you cant there's ways to make that one sound better. And back to the end, 3:13-4:13 sounds sloppy compared to the first half, which is done much more well.
You have a ton of great content that you have created here. Plase use it effectivley. You can tell I think this has potential by all the capital letters in my post  .
SATUROS AND MENARDI: rpggamer180
I cannot tell what this mess is. Its a completley unmusical thing thats hard to listen to. The chords on the "chainsaw cello" are too thick, and you need a cello SECTION. After that nothing matches at all. Its so dissonant...it makes me feel really queezy and disoriented and like i'm the scene of some bad horror movie about to get a limb sawed off. I dont know what else to say. Its horrible and im not going to lie. The original is a rather fast paced mix, and this does not do it. There's also a saturos and menardi battle theme that might be a beter choice for mixing. Either is good, and you need to do something with this fast.
SEPHIROTH: Tensei-San
I did not like the little organ intro, once its over it's fine. I won't comment on sound since it's midi. The later sections in this piece( like 2:18 to the end) are really cool, and id like to hear real instruments sometime in the future. The crazy frantic psycho aspect of this piece is something that makes this track so cool.
SINISTRALS: avaris
When the guitar kicks in, it's like "Hell yeah", but Real guitar for this piece would be amazing. The one you have now sounds so empty. The strings are also mushy, and a staccato sample would be way better. Thats my gripe with this...it's too empty. I just think you need more instruments playing.
GIGLAMESH: pu_freak
SAME problem as your M. Bison WIP. It just takes too long to get there. Although it's not quite as good sounding as M.Bison...
SLOPRANO: Sleepy Emp
This is really epic for a joke boss, haha. Not a bad thing though. I just wish there was a way for you to incorporate those lyrics. Find someone who will sing lol.
OF QUALITY FOR PROJECT:
Nothing yet. Too early, and we have a lot of improvements to make.
VERY GOOD:
BOWSER: Leepmeister
GANONDORF: Cerrax
SLOPRANO: Sleepy Emp
SIGMA: Doomsday
NEEDS SOME WORK, BUT IN THE CLEAR:
DR. NEO CORTEX: Rexy
GIGLAMESH: pu_freak
M.BISON: pu_freak
SINISTRALS: avaris
SEPHIROTH: Tensei-San
NOT UP TO PROJECT STANDARDS:
GARY OAK: Tensei-San/the-almighty-tallest(collab) not enough done!
SATUROS AND MENARDI: rpggamer180
DARK GAIA: James George (midi rip)
GRUNTILDA: The Joker (needs more)
If you are in the middle two, you're fine. Keep working at it and soon these tracks will be amazing. If you are in the bottom category, you need to do something about this quickly, or if I have reviewed an old crappy WIP, send a new one to me and PI immediatley. I will try to update this post from time to time, and put that quality list on the first post. Good luck to everyone and keep working.

Kanjika, quick question. The version of my song you wrote about is that the last version I posted on the public forums and the one I pm'ed you?
I'm assuming it is, bc I am already in the process of getting real guitar work done for it from Tensei. There is a whole page on the private forums where we are discussing the real guitar work.
The latest version has a lot to it. My old version was quite empty I do agree. If you are talking about my latest version, then I'd like to go into a more in depth conversation on it. There are more harmonies I already have written I can add in, but it would muddy up the whole soundscape etc...So let me know wats up so we can make this song better.
Also I'm guilty of this too, but guys we really need to try and comment on each other's mixes more. If you guys really want this project to kick ass we really need to help each other out. Even if a mix is really good and you can't say anything. Then just tell the artist that their mix is good, and if you can point out the parts in the song that aren't your favorites. For my mixes I listen to them so much working on em I loose the ability towards the end of them to tell what parts are good and what parts are bad.

Kanjika, thanks very much for your thoughts on this. I did state that right after I'm done with most of the arrangement on the song I will get a real guitarist to come in (though some people claimed that I should take this in a Protricity style direction). I'm assuming you aren't too hot with the "pluck" sound though - that was doubling up a dulcimer with a lute (was it even woodwind, or a string synth? damn, I can't remember X.x). What kind of sound are you looking for there? I'm assuming by your commentary you'd be needing something a little more mellow, or at least something that doesn't have that harsh an attack?
Still I love you guys very much. Bear in mind that if there's a next WIP date before the middle of January I might not make it due to Christmas break (all my work's done here at college), but I'm still destined to put forth the rest of the ideas in the coming months.

Protricity's never a bad way to go. Whatever happened to him, and not a rhetorical question. Seriously, I've heard a few different things, mostly from freinds whpo listen to OCR and VGMix stuff. But none seem to know what they're talking about.
As long as Sleepy Emp is OK, I think maybe one or two more joke bosses, and then promoting the album as dual disc, with the joke bosses as some bizzaro-world album. I don't know exactly, right now, if the joke bosses will be considered whole tracks, or bonus tracks.

I really hope that Dark Gaia doesn't get cut from this, just because that'll be a killer ReMix if done right.

Anyone have a MIDI or other source material for the SimCity guy?
That sounds like a very funny idea, by the way. :D

I need to stop joking around, methinks...
Anyway, I do have the SimCity 2000 soundtrack in MIDI form; I was going to play around with it since I figured the track was my fault. Want to collab or anything?

Any chance of adding LeChuck from the Monkey Island series? If so, I'd do that mix...

Hey, Kenny, if that is your real name..., you said you could do Baritone voices? If you're familiar with it, we do have a track for the great mighty poo, from Conkers Bad Fur Day. That is, if you have no problem singing a song based on obscene fecal jokes. You see, I sent a PM to sleepy Emp to contact you, but I don't know where that went...
Otherwise, Ill think about adding it. I've never played the series, so I have to check it out. No prob, bud.

I've played Conker's Bad Fur Day, so I do know what you're talking about. I don't mind singing about fecal matter, I'm just concerned that people are going to be a little worried with all the swearing, particularly since I do my recording on campus...

LeChuck?
I like the way you think.
Also, if we're still looking for more joke bosses, I think we'll need a Bob the Goldfish mix.

I remember getting killed there in the game because I couldn't stop laughing, still cracks me up whenever I hear it

Hey as long as you can pull it off in a voice similiar to Robin Beanland's booming opera accent and not make the track sound like a dance mix, I'm good with whatever you do.
If you need another "joke" boss, well the only one I can think of off the top of my head right now is a guy from Mother 3/Earthbound 2 and most likely, not everyone's gone to the lengths of importing it like I have so I don't want to deal out spoilers or anything like that.

Booming opera I can do, as I am a trained vocalist... dance, I cannot.

Well, it isn't dance anyway. The thing is, till Sleepy Emp makes a statement, we dont even know if lyrics are applicable. If you've heard the mix, lyrics don't currently fit very well. But like I said, almost everybody wants to hear them.

I gots me an idea. One that will make everyone happy, hopefully. Myself included.
Is there any way you can just make a recording of the first verse or so? Not only would it give us an idea of your skill, but it would totally, TOTALLY kick ass.

Who set up the private forums again?
Because they seem to have disappeared. I must say that the forum hosting service wasn't very good though.

It was Pi, but it's really strange - and frustrating - that it's gone now, especially since it's free and by the same host as the normal forum

I think i'll set up another forum on a really good host i know. A forum i made 2 years ago is still up there. I can possibly make the regular forums and private forums one, and just make a separate usergroup for the private section.

That was so great! Booming and operatic it wasn't. The voice was spot-on, though. If Sleepy Emp ever shows up again, I suppose it would sound much better with the actual music. It just needs to be more... booming and operatic. I can assume you kept it low because you didn't want to be heard, correct? That should be a proper excuse, yes.
Kanjika, I think the private forums were removed due to lack of activity. That's my guess, but if you can put up a better one, go ahead.
mlo sent me a re-do of the front page, which I'll be putting up soon. Nothing changes much, except Koelsch, Realpolitik, and Adhesive_Boy were removed, and everything else was a bit refined. That's basically it.

You would be correct, sir. Also, it's very likely that they EQed the original, but that doesn't mean I can't do it. It doesn't take very much to fill up a large auditorium will my voice.
