What gives, everybody died? C'mon, we're in WIPs now! Where is everybody? There's still tracks to be taken! No new mixers?

Hey, doesn't mean you can't still be our "Associate Correlative Technical Assistant", to dust off an old one. I would have signed you on, but weren't you banned? What happened to that?
I had been considering this for awhile, but mlo has really been pulling his weight around this project. Maybe, signing both of you guys up as co-co-coordinators? Believe me, we could always use more help around here. And having some more voices steering the project further ensures quality, like our own little judges panel.
Are both of you up for it? Of course, you could always wait for Haywire Harmonics. I'm just surprised you're still sticking around here. No posts for a few months usually means a loss of interest.

No one's doing Giygas? Dang, if I had more time I wouldn't mind picking that track up.
Pi_R_[]ed

Funny story about that...
If everyone noticed, I finally updated the main post, and removed the following mixers:
Koelsch1 (Giygas)
Realpolitik (Master Hand)
Adhesive_Boy (Dracula)
It's not too late for these mixers to hand in a WIP, but it's also prime time for anyone else to jump in and claim those tracks, not to mention all the others that are still open.

Well, if you want to classify the fight with Trevelyan (sp?) in Goldeneye as a "boss," I've got another track for this project. It's a WIP right now, but I may be finishing it this weekend.
Hm? hmm? :)

I don't know how exactly to respond to this... no?
Not to shatter those hopes, but picking one villain out of dozens from the Bond series isn't exactly easy. Why not just put that out as a regular mix, then when you're done, step back up for Giygas? You'd be more than welcome, as long as that one you've got now doesn't end up sounding like crap (I haven't listened to it yet, so I'm assuming it's not).
Sole Signal

Yeah, normally I would agree, but it's the main villain from Goldeneye 007 for the N64, which is still quite the benchmark game. (Moreso than Nightfire, Day After Tomorrow, Agent Under Fire, World is Not Enough, etc) The music actually changes during the "Trevelyan battle," which is more than you can say for Jaws or the other mini-bosses.
Meh oh well...I admit it's somewhat of an out-there possibility. I mean, if you're even decent at Goldeneye, the "battle" is over in like two minutes or less. Here's the WIP link for the heck of it.

If it's based on the music from the movie, though, it would not, technically, be valid.

I probably am in no right to say this, but... Perhaps we should focus more on themes from the list (especially with those 3 now open) than to make the list longer

I just figured it would replace one of them. Personally, I've never played any of the games that are left except Earthbound, and I hesitate to pick up Giygas because I won't be able to use live guitar.
Oh well, I'll shut up now. I guess the nostalgia factor isn't there for you guys as much as it is for me in regards to Goldeneye.

Sure thing! I'd be happy to!
And Miszou, if you decide to remix Giygas, we have several guitar players willing to play parts if you need them. (Assuming you end up using guitars). But yes...there are Goldeneye mixes on the site, but the Cradle themes quote the Bond music quite literally, making it a bit of a sketchy track to have. You don't want to have worked on it just to have it scratched because of site guidelines, right?
Nothing against you or Mr. Trevelyan, of course! 8)

I should just make everybody a coordinator. It seems to be the best way to influence everybody, while moving on to a veritable "phase III".
Phase I -
Recruiting
Phase II -
WIPping
Phase III -
Making a big stink about how cool we are, while hitting a low point in activity
Phase IV -
None of your fucking business. You want to know? You can wait, just like everybody else! Prob'ly just mastering, art, and tying up loose ends, followed by P. 5, release
Now, mlo, you are amazing. I'll mention it here, instead of the other forums, just to get people interested, but here's what I meant about that project. I was thinking of including several different wallpapers with the torrent, including a poker scene, and some other stuff I'll maybe get into later. That's where everybody else who wants to submit art, or find other artists comes in. Now, the one I mentioned already, yes, would need to be drawn. I would think, If a sig, would be scaled down to maybe... about the size of Abadoss's sig, but a little higher, and a bit more than little longer. But yes, that would be scaled down from a full wallpaper, or poster-sized/quality image.
Artists? Serious. You read Phase 3, lets stink it up, baby! Go out, get artists, or sign yourself up! We've got some kick-ass art to make. I'll go into the kick-ass details once we get some more kick-ass artists. Go, my kick-ass minions! And, Kanjika and mlo, try to make an effort to help. More artists is never a bad thing.
...unless they get mad that we have too many, and one of them wasn't used when he/she wanted to. Enemies aren't fun. But, enemies are what our project's all about! My head hurts...

Wasn't sure if mlo wanted to do this himself, but, too bad. Here's the sigs we have so far (If you couldn't tell, mlo made them).

Now, not everybody go and pig their sig up at once. Granted, not everyone can fit it, or has one, but..., C'mon! If I had one, I'd be using it.
- In related news, Pu and mlo, I'm thinking of giving you both an "co art director"-like statuses (statii?), working on stuff, and keeping other visual artists in line while finding others I was considering appointing someone for awhile, but seeing hoew fast mlo and pu both responded in times of need (sigs, and sigs) I don't see why not. Thats showing everyone else what they're missing out on for thinking they can get away with "just mixing".. mlo, I've already talked to you about an artist, and pu, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go see what's up with our current artist (http://gts.deviantart.com/), who hasn't given us anything in awhile, or even really participated much at all. I think if he knew exactly what was going on around here, and not just being something for his spare time, he might become a little more involved. On the side, try to find a good anime artist or two to see if we could finally get that .gif sig/torrent-headed art going.
And about that .gif... I don't know who mentioned the Benny Hill theme, but someone did. I actually was thinking of more along those lines, a comical, chaotic mess, of heroes bounding and falling over each other to get out of the way to not get killed.

Leep, I just want to make a comment, because I think everyone might agree. The first few versions of your WIP were varied, and sounded good at parts, although it did have its problems. After adding the guitar, it seems like too many sacrifices were made. I don't know, its just getting... meh. Don't get me wrong, please. PI, I agree with you and others, that the previous versions had more variety. However, I really don't know what to do with it. I made the drums more forceful in version 5, and made the guitar and orchestra a little more balanced, dunno if you listened to version 4 or 5, but please let me know which version your comments are referring to, so I don't get confused.
No one has mentioned it, so I guess I'll ask what everyone thinks of the fight sequence. Does it detract from the music at that part? Should I put it over the staircase stuff at the end instead? (I put it where it is now so it would end with the mario death jingle.) I thought it was a neat feature, but maybe it's too goofy.
Believe me, this is frustrating for both me and you guys, but hopefully we can get it figured out, I just need clear communication of your thoughts (including the WIP version! :) ).

Either way, Escariot, the way I got it was by ripping it from the actual game using a Genesis emulator and the game ROM...which is legal since I own both anyways. (I've had Gunstar Heroes since I was like 8...so that's 10 years, almost 11 this April ^^)

Dash Myoku: ROMs are illegal to trade/download/upload even if you own the original. Even the legality of making your own backups is dubious at best, considering that game backup devices are, in fact, considered copyright violations in the USA.
From Wikipedia: "However, in the U.S. it has been illegal since 1983 for a user to create their own backups of video game ROMs. This was decided in the court case of Atari v. JS&A. JS&A manufactured a "game backup" device that allowed users to dump their Atari ROMs onto a blank cartridge. JS&A argued that the archival rule allowed for this. The court disagreed, noting that ROM media was not subject to the same volatility as magnetic media (for which the law was created). Thus, not being so relatively vulnerable, ROMs were not applicable under section 17 USC 117." The web address to that link is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ROM_image#Games_owned_by_the_user
Please correct me if I (and Wikipedia) am (likely) wrong.
Plus, you linked right to a rom sharing site. That's pretty much fair game for being banned in any US-operated forum.

Well, I suppose you mean well. Other than implying that a project member should be banned...
I have no idea of the validity of any of the statements you - or by proxy, Wikipedia made, since I really have no interest in law, unfortunately. Nor do I really want to derail a project thread into an argument over the legality of video game emulation. It does occur to me to be though, this may be a cumbersome way to extract a single music file. An mp3 of Golden Silver's theme can be found here. Thank you for clearing that up.
Oh and I wasn't trying to threaten banination (I don't even have that power). Just trying to give a little IANAL legal advice & clear up some long-running misconceptions about copyright law in the emulation community. Sorry if it came out the wrong way.
For the record, I do support emulation and I know the origins of this site. I just want to make sure people know what they're doing, as well as raise awareness about stupid legal decisions. This is probably not the best place to talk about that kind of thing.
Now let's get back to talking about the project, before my one-off tangent post gets out of hand and derails the discussion. Like finding music files of various classic game tunes.
I should really triple-check my posts more often.

Yeah, I don't know much about the legal stuff with emulation. But I read on one site (maybe Emuparadise) that if you own the system and game, it's alright to download them. But hey, no one said anything about it being legal.
Anyways, no progress yet on Golden Silver's theme yet. This is the time I wish there was a MIDI out there. ><

They don't have to be that great in order for you to get an idea of the contents of the song. Often times, I don't use the MIDI as it allows you to use a little TOO much of the original material. Using only an original track forces you to improve your listen/writing skills.
But, do it howevevr you prefer. Whatever method you use to make your music sound its best is fine.

I agree, actually. I'm just a really lazy person when it comes to producing a remix. I like to try and get results as fast and effeciently as possible. So usually, I don't like to sit around for hours, trying to figure out a track when I can just use a MIDI as a reference. ^^;

ATTENTION REMIXERS.
After discussion with Pi, The new project WIP date is set for FEBRUARY 24th. ALL remixers, regardles of sign on date must show very significant progress by this date. The last date was November 19th, so this is date is giving you almost a month and a half from today, and over 3 months from the last one. That means there should be NO reason you don't have a lot more done.

I've already redone my entire drum kit, much more balls to wall. Also messed around with some of the hats. I'm gonna mess around with the strings more per Kanjika's suggestions.
The big thing for mine is the guitar! AHHH, haven't seen Tensei around in awhile...Really getting the live guitar in there and then redoing the drums to fit the rythm guitars is big part of what I need. If I can't get the live guitars from Tensei by then, you'll at least hear other elements improved, but nothin major you know bc I sure as hell can't play this song on the guitar. Is that cool? Or do I absolutely need the live guitars to be in my next version to show a massive amount of forward progress?

I'm going to work hard this afternoon on both WIPs, so I can make the deadline, and Avaris, I'm sorry I don't have anything yet, but it was kinda crucial for me to get a (near)zero-latency recording chain set-up before I would do anything like recording guitar (especially the kind of shredding I would have to do on your track), but I have it now, so I'm all set!

Hello Kanjika, I am honored to send you this message, I am hopefull that you check this forum often and this message reaches you soon.
I have been listening to your compositions at the project chaos website and I was deeply moved by three of your songs, those songs are beyond words to descibe how good they are. If there was a medal for outstanding compositions, you would take platinum. If you were to go back in time and be the composer of the Zelda Twilight Princess tracks you would make that game become the ultimate game of the decade!
In fact I encourage you to contact the developer team of the Zelda games for Nintendo Wii and ask if you could do the next Zelda game tracks for them, I'm very sure you would be hired on the spot if you were to give them the following songs:
The Secluded Stronghold
Breathtaking Vision
Stranger to Closure
...As an example on what you can do.
But if it's too much trouble for you then why not try this, contact me by e-mail and make arrangements to chat with me on MSN Live messenger and I'll tell you what I've been working on, and you can deside whether or not to join in on my special project.

Well first off thanks for appreciating those tracks. Always nice to hear how many people like them.
But as for your Zelda idea, well i'm pretty, actually 100% sure that they wouldnt throw Koji Kondo aside for me. There's too many preventing factors, like AGE (i'm not yet out of high school), I have no real prior experience doing that, and tons of other things. That's all I can really say, lol. I DO hope to compose comercially in a few years, but right now, I barely have time to write anything anymore. But thanks for the hype. ^_^
On a side note, i do believe there is a reason that the Twighlight Princess music sounds the way that it does. My friend made this point a while back and it could be true. Nintendo's focus is VIDEO GAMES, and the want Zelda to be exactly that, a video game. The slightly cheezy midish sound is a classic Zelda thing since N64. This I believe is the reason the Wii is not a beefed up powerhouse like 360 or PS3. Nintendo simply wants games to be exactly that: games.
Back on topic, a big PS to everyone.

I think it would be cool to join a project and all but there are a few things holding me back atm.
First: I'm only using the demo version of FL6 as I don't have enough money to buy a full version yet. Meaning that I can't save project files so I can't start a new project w/o finishing the one I'm already working on. And I'm working on something atm. (excuse the run-on explanations)
Second: I don't know if I'd be up to par. I just started remixing, submitted one I wish I could redo (can't because the flp wasn't saved...goes back to the first reason) and finished another (It still needs some work), But as you can see, I'm lacking in the experience department.
Third: I don't know the music for any of the avaliable bosses up there.
But we may be able to work things out, if you want me on it. Here's some links to my work.
FFXI - New Adventurer(The one I wish I could redo): http://www.mediafire.com/?dzkzd4t1omv

Zelda 64: OoT - Bolero of Fire(no good name yet, Current wip): http://www.mediafire.com/?8ymlyd2azaz

At least you two have mixes in progress. You've perhaps noticed that things have been slow around here lately? Don't disappoint, yeah?

The first WIP I submitted for deadline was a dancey version of E.G.G.M.A.N (Instrumental.) I recall being told I need to work on the style and make it fit in.
Now, electronica was encouraged (as was rock and orchestral etc.) from the outset - So, what 'feel' is this project after?
I remember great boss and evil guy themes mainly through energy and urgency with a bleak vibe, maybe a flicker of hope. That's what I'm aiming for.

Well, I did not hear your first WIP (I wasn't a coordinator then), so I don't want to pass judgment on something I haven't heard. But that whole energy, urgency quote is correct, so if your track is following that guideline, it should be alright. Just post what you have when you're ready; I don't want you to go changing your track around just a few days before the deadline.

I'm still looking to contribute to this, but I'm sorry to say that there is no way I'll make the 24th deadline. Over spring break I should have some time, which is the first week or so of March.

Yo!
I will have an update b4 the deadline (or dead on it!) however...
Should I change my aim?
Just... "Badness". Make the bosses cool. The villain you love to hate, but who's side you'd join in an instant. Express that around those genres.
I'm still looking to contribute to this, but I'm sorry to say that there is no way I'll make the 24th deadline. Over spring break I should have some time, which is the first week or so of March.
If you miss the deadline, and someone else gets a WIP in before you, you lose it. But if you get it in first, even late, it's still yours.

Don't worry about it, you're pretty far anyway. And by "Dont worry", I dont mean get lazy.
I could do some album art.
PM me if you have any ideas.

I'll probably have to sequence the song before I even make a start on the actual re-arranged version for the sake of saving time with fucking on notation issues. (Course we could collaborate if that's a possible choice.)

Just so you know, I am currently 90% finished sequencing the original Golden Silver song from Gunstar Heroes to MIDI. After that, it's 'nick and chop around' time! (I'll post a link here once it's done for proof. This is basically to make things easier for all of us since the song is crazy to begin with... (4/8, 17/16, 5/8, 4/8 at 100BPM..it's that complicated it crashes my app in score view))
EDIT: http://www.vgmusic.com/new-files/GunstarHeroes_GoldenSilver_v101.mid (http://www.vgmusic.com/new-files/GunstarHeroes_GoldenSilver.mid) *XG/GM2 OPTIMIZED. (For those that think notation is impossible to decipher from this song. Just finished in 4 hours. Now I'll make a start on the re-arranged version) *corrected square and drum inconsistencies on some devices
Just so you guys know, I will have an update over the weekend, but I've been too swamped by my IT studies lately to get time to make the render on what I've done earlier in the week. Nonetheless, I should have it here by Sunday night at the latest.

Just wanted to check in...I missed the deadline but am working on the Secret of Mana track. (Sure picked a very intimidating song there. >< Always loved it but never realized how complex it was till I looked at the score.) If someone else comes along who really wants it, go ahead and take it, but I'll have a WIP to you guys as soon as possible. It's going in an acid/dance direction, just fyi.
I can also help with any visual art/web design the project still needs. I'm doing the album art and possibly more for the Super Mario 64 remix project and can show ya samples if you like.

Checking in - I'm reloading up all my VSTis and samples on my laptop as it is much easier to work with. However, that currently means the bass synth is missing and various effects aren't there - hence my lack of contribution thus far. Ok, well, anyway, about the deadline, and WIPs...
We're gonna deal with this the same way we did for the last WIP date. For those of you who weren't here last time, here's how things go down: If you got a WIP in, good for you. If you didn't (yet) you still have the chance to. But if someone else turns a quality WIP in first, well, you lost the track. Give me awhile to look around and I'll post a list of who has submitted a WIP so far.
EDIT: Anyone who wants to work on art/web design, check the thread on our forums. And PM me.

OK, I've been thinking. I'm not gonna whine, "I don't want to, but if I need to...", because I'd rather have this project take another year, than have to deal with certain kinds of people. If you sign on, at least make an effort to keep up. The following people are, as of currently, off the list:
andyjayne
fishy
James George
ellywu2
Spunodi
Doomsday
Cerrax
Tensei-San
Bren
Leah
rpggamer180
...Let me make my point. You aren't "off the project", so to speak, but I'll be removing you from the front page. Either get a something in, or your spot gets stolen by a new artist. And don't think we aren't looking around for others to call in, too. I would post Abadoss and Rexy, but they at least said why, or rather, even showed around here. They get my leniency.
Now, looks like I'll re-do this for a, what, third time? Re-focusing the project, although I don't really want to. I was thinking about it, and came to a conclusion. Having rock, techno, orch, etc. is a bit too wide for a project to sound good all put on one album. So from now on, even though I know it'll really mess things up, just try to focus more on rock. If you already have stuff done, don't worry about it. I just would rather have things cleaner. Thing about something like what Metroid Metal (http://www.metroidmetal.com/) did for Metroid. It's an easier-to-reach goal, and a rock album would sound nicer than one with one with wildly differing tracks. Ech, messy.
So:
Off the project = temporary, if you get something in
New genre = Rock, but if you have something done, don't be afraid to get it in
Metroid Metal = I just got a real good idea. I'll be contacting someone...

I think the genre specification should be a little more open.
Like, tracks should be based in rock, but hybridized styles welcome. i.e. Symphonic Rock, Electro Rock, Symphonic-electro Rock. Basically rock, & it's sub genres.

What I was getting at, pretty much. But when the genres get too far out, it's hard to fit it all on one album. It needs to sound nice.
EDIT: Hey, stemage from MetalMetroid wrote back, so, thats good news. As follows:
Hey Franklin, it's Grant with Metroid Metal. Got your e-mail. :)
Cool idea!! I don't think I can offer an entire manned track on my own, but I will offer myself as a guitar or mastering source. Looks like you have several guitar players, but no one under mastering. I'd be happy to offer chops or help sweeten and finalize lacking tracks for the final CD. I'd prefer to have the wavs sent to me, and I send them back fixed up, instead of running the entire disc from my machine. Besides, everyone may not need my help. And you can list me as Stemage from Metroid Metal.
Just let me know if I can be of any help on those fronts. :)

So, Vagrance can't keep up? No problem. You gave it your best shot, and at least you're going gracefully instead of just not showing up for months, then letting me prune you off the project. Let's just hope someone picks it up.
The renewed interest in Sephiroth is nice to see. Just remember to try not to focus on 1WA, as we've all gone over before.
Everybody: This will be easier if everyone does it, so a big thing doesnt need to rest on only a few people. SCOUT! Now, I for example, brought ourselves attention to Stemage, from MM, for example. Now, we've all been looking. I don't see why we can't have everyone else help.
I'll try to get more posting done on the private forums. I haven't been doing much there, have I? Hmm...
Has anyone considdered a sonic and knuckles rock style remix of the act1 boss theme for the Dr. Robotnick remix,or a rock style remix of the sonic 1 final zone/boss remix. Is that possible for this project?
Also,I think it's a good idea to have a genre for all remixers to adhere to,because when you have multiple genres of music on one album,it makes the album sound like a mixed bag of musi imo.Rock seems to be wrather popular around ocr these days so why not have a primarolly rock album on ocr for once.

I mean, if you have some art skill, no shots in the dark. Send me a PM with a request, first-come first serve. I'll dish out projects based on what I think you'll be good at. That means sending prior work for me to take a look at, too. I want to see the end results of experience here, not some n00b attempt at learning how to draw a straight line. Yeah. Don't think we're not looking for other artists. And take my word for it, I'm (We're, I assume) not/aren't afraid to dump this whole team in favor of reliable, better artists. Especially considering how slow things have been going lately.
- Second note: If you know of any "Rock" artists, be they actual guitarists, or just someone good with a program, send them our way. Or rather, a much better idea, PM me. Either/Or, really. That goes for mixers and just regular forum-goers. If you know someone, hook us up, don't leave us hanging here, man...
For everyone - Hey, rock isn't a bad shift, right? It tightens focus, and giving the album one unified sound's better then a mish-mosh of different styles. I mean, I was originally worried that it might alienate artists already on the project who don't "do" rock, but it looks like most, if not nearly all of the artists are going to be replaced, well, it doesn't really look like that's a big worry, does it...
*Sigh*... Seriously. If I have to, every current artist can be dropped. I don't hope for it. I really don't. But what needs to be done will be. Take my word for it.

Perhaps that was worded a bit too strongly. Let me put it this way: I don't want to replace the whole team. That's the last thing I want. But participants who say they have time to donate to the project and then ignore it can't really be trusted to put all they can into it inthe future. Easpeccialy if they don't even show to point out they're still around. You've made every due date. That's good. I understand not everone can do what is asked of them, and accomadations will (and have) been made. I'm sorry for any miscommunication on my part. If anyone has any issues with a due date, or making schedule, or showing for a few weeks, just tell me. I'll do what I can do. Being the coordinator of this project, there's a lot I can do.
I know every project hits it's slow points. This one has had a few. But when some artists are making the date, and others are a total no-show, and don't respond to contact, they're off. Let me put it this way: Odds are, if you're reading this, you're safe. At least it means you're around.

I suggest you hold on for a little longer. Summer vacation's just around the corner and this is the time where school can be very time consuming. I have exams coming up, so don't expect too much from me this month(s).
People that do not show when they have time are slackers... but that's not your entire team.
Oh yeah, I know... but it doesn't mean hanging on to those people who haven't said a word since the start of the project. The project won't fail becuase of the artists, no it won't. There are people like you, The Joker, rpggamer180, who even can just pop in every once in a while to let me know "Even if I'm not working now, I'll be soon." I won't drop you. I'll save that spot on the front page 'till you can get around to working.
In ~3 months, this project will be a year old. I'm astounded. I have no problem waiting longer to find the team that will finsih with me. Some of them are here. Some people who are here won't be when that time comes. I appreciate the support they gave when they first gave things a try, but if they can't do it, it's not the end of the world. It's up to them, not me.

I gotta about half of my update finished. It's mostly just the rythms being completely redone. I am filling out the rest of the song how my current version sounds that's in the private wips forum.
Oh yeah Wynd_Balduram can do some nasty rock music. He submitted a really good FFMQ mix a little while back. If we're goin for a mainly rock based album that severly narrows the available artist list IMO.
Like Pu I'm gonna be hella busy the next month with school wrapping up and also there are some big events coming in for my work. Hopefully I'll get the update out soon.

I've been crazy busy with school, and that's not going to stop until the semester's out May 16 or so.
As for the genre change, if an electro/orchestral/bit of rock blend (like my old WIP now) isn't going to cut it, I'm afraid I'll be dropping out.

I like the word 'if'. World of possibility. Word of possibilities. Hehehe..
it wouldn't take much for your current WIP to meet what I have in mind. Just "Throwing in a Guitar" wouldn't exactly count as a suggestion, but I can see one fitting in nicely, and still keeping close to what you already have. If no one's asked for Stemage's (Metroid Metal guy, again. OCR name is GrantHenry) help, give that a shot. We have a few Guitarists on the front page, as well. I hope you don't drop, what you have so far has some great potential. But there's a while I can wait to see things develop.
On both subjects:
- I'll hold off on a new deadline for now. I've been nuts with school like everyone else. Search for good artists till Mid-May, then we can progress.
- I've asked GrantHenry if he had anyone contact him yet, no response yet. Either he's busy, or forgot he has an ocr account. He seemed to be way more into polishing everything the closer we get to finishing, so I'll just ask when the time comes. Otherwise, try to use the other guitarists on the list, yeah?
Avaris, I'll go check out that Wynd guy right now.

Just a quick question, what is the song range limit you want the remixes to be? (ie: minimum length - maximum length)
And submission process. What are the regulations and how to submit?

While you're on the subject, Abe, whats the deal with Sloprano? Are you doing the voice and music, or just the voice, or what? Up to you if you want to do it at all, but it would be so sick...
Thinking about the rock-change, maybe we could do something with that. I mean, it already has lyrics. And the idea of death-metal teris or something along those lines is getting me excited. What about the Sim City guy, too?
Man, that was so funny!

There is no way I'm gonna be able to do Andross in a rock style, I'm afraid (I'll be suprised if anyone can do it). Could you please drop me for that one? I'm still working on the Garry Oak mix, but taking on Andross's theme in any genre is hard enough, Rock is just impossible for me.

Almighty Tallest - At least we didnt lose you. You were commenting on that track's difficulty anyway, so no harm done. If no one picks it up, we can just drop it. Still looking forward to hearing Gary. YOu still going for something like Joe Satriani (Did I spell that right? Some of his stuff is real good...)

Yeah, I'm still going for something Satriani-inspired. The only problems I have really are bass-related, I'm hoping LuIzA can help me out with that. I'll pick up another track if I can finish this one soon, there isn't very much for me left to do.

I'm in the same boat, school vamping up a 'lil. I'm trying to add in ProTools as my DAW because it works so seamlessly with Reason, but I'm having some technical difficulties with Giga and Rewire and ironing it out is slowing me down.
Many apologies, but do remember that unless I truly am dead I do answer email and AIM. A little two way conversation is always nice, instead of just being talked down to on forums I can't track 100% and/or ignored when I do. Try to assume that producing free music amongst a life that demands money and schooling and attention to private matters is the typical "excuse" of us remixers, and not just lazy good-for-nothings realizing their do-nothing existence. Believe it or not, I'm doing YOU the favor, not the other way around.
I'll will for sure finish Dark Gaia before this project is completed by everyone else (I am paying attention believe it or not), if u want me to, and in return I'll appreciate your patience, understanding, and communication. However, if that's too much to ask, just drop me from the project. I do realize I've missed several deadlines as it is, and won't take it personally - no harm done. Thank you. - James

I wouldnt want to exclude artists, so yes, you can mix genres. Just don't stray too far. If he doesn't mind, I'd like to quote something anorak told me in a PM exchange we had while discussing off-site artists...
I don't mind the switch to rock. Getting the album to play as, well, an actual album is something that a lot of the projects here miss out on. They feel more like...playlists, you know? On the other hand, my thoughts on the negative side have basically already come up: we could alienate some of the valuable mixers we are hanging on to, and some of our source tunes could be very difficult to remix as rock songs. I'm not sure what to do with Metroid, for instance. I'll have to listen to it again. And TAT (the-almighty-tallest) said andross would be hard, and I don't blame him. We might need to rearrange the list a bit, just for the sake of the music.
Covers it, basicly. I've mentioned in older posts that it's a good goal to work for, that is "radio quality". Some mixes have the feel to being actually music, and some you know are remixes (not saying that's a bad thing). A good track is one that everyone can listen to, without having to know the source music to really appreciate it. And for this project, it's one you can listen to on the radio.
...Perhaps thats a bit strong. Most rock stations aren't really covering where most of this will go, but it's a good comparison. I have a feeling I'll regret saying that later, but yeah, it's a good way to say "do good work".
Yeah, I suppose thats better. Anorak said it, I'll restate it. Avoid a "playlist" feeling. Most albums here have it. RotS doesn't in my opinion. RotC doesn't either. But RotC is one flowing track broken up, it's supposed to have that fell. And it was pulled off very well. That's more what I want. Avoid a playlist feel, and execute that very nicely to make a good album.

Alright, Pi. I can do that. I've just the guy to record for me, as well. (www.myspace.com/anchoredcross)
Hell, maybe I'll even work with him on this mix. I like his style and I think it'd be interesting to hear it in play along with mine.
As for "Radio" quality, you might have to hook me up with some soundfonts, since the ones I have aren't all too great (you can check out my newest WIP thread for a taste of what I have). But other than that, I think I can deliver what you want for this thing. It's just too bad I don't have any of my Guitar gear up here. I'd live record my stuff in a heart-beat (not that I'm all that great anyways xD).

Well...now you're giving me ideas. Rock, with Techno influences and an Orchestra. Complete with, uh...more Techno? xD

I don't know if it's too late, but can I...
1.) Recommend a boss: Dark Samus. She's bad, she's black and glowy, and she has a pretty cool song when you first fight her in MP2. Kraid or (more likely) Ridley could also substitute here.
2.) Unofficially contribute to that remix/do it- If you would like a remix of that tune I mentioned above for Dark Samus to add to the project, I'll get working on it ASAP. I missed registration (curse homework for all eternity!), but would love to help out if I could. If not, that's alright. I'm looking forward to this and literally buzzing with anticipation for when it's released.
