Sorry bout my lack of participation... I've been busy but now I can REALLY start cracking down on these projects. I'll have something for you guys in a couple days!

Sweetness good to hear. We got a ton of tracks right near the finish. The sooner we can get the tracks the sooner we can release the project. FYI Ziwtra has been working on the website so we got all of our bases covered thus far.

Thanks to everyone you has participated in this project. The tracks have been awesome thus far, many Wips and finished songs have gone on playlists of mine already. Keep it up dudes!

I've actually been lurking OCR for several years now and have always wanted to join the ranks of the other remixers, but never felt "worthy" up until recently when I noticed my productions have been above amateur quality (in my opinion, of course). Since 2005, I have been producing and sequencing music in FL Studio, and I have also been playing the guitar since 2001. With so many years of practice under my belt, I thought "why not finally give it a shot?" :P At least I wouldn't embarass myself too much at this point in time.

Hope I'm up to snuff in some prospect, and I do appreciate the consideration.

Is there any specific deadline that needs to be met for near-finished demos? I'm juggling a lot of projects and several other remixes as of late (most likely a few others in the same position, I'd bet) and I've got deadlines written down for most of them to help prioritize and keep chaos from materializing, with this album project of course being the exception. Late october, early november... any kind of due goal would be great just to make sure I don't screw up and neglect my commitment

Good news website is done! Head on over to the project forums to check it out. Now for it to be 100% done we need everyone's bios and song descriptions. (Check out ziwtra's songs for an example of the "short song description")

Also more good news. Ziwtra has finished both of his tracks. As soon as we get the rest of the finished tracks in we can release this project. Right now we have 14 finished tracks. I would like to have all tracks completed by December 1st.

I believe we have 16 tracks done. Website is done except for peoples info, wav files, mirrors, and few other fixes.

Basically people just need to finish their shite. There are tons of other projects just about finished, so we might be behind in the pecking order for a release date. I'll be done with my grueling exam schedule come this friday; after that I'll start organizing the shite so we can call this one finished! Thanks to everyone who has finished a mix thus far!

Well this is interesting...and slightly annoying.
I was moving a partition today, and my comp froze on me, and in the process, completely wiped my hard drive. So all my mix data is gone, but this can be considered a good thing, since I was having serious difficulties finishing it. So I now have an excuse to start over, since I now have the Windows 7 beta running on my comp and Finale works like a charm with it. So it'll still be a piano piece, but won't be quite so drug out and long.
Once I finish catching myself up on the absolute essential programs I need again, my mix will begin. And that should be sometime tonight. Wish me luck. :-P

Well, I did go through the proper channels back in the day(which have now since been abandoned, since it was creating a "bottleneck"), and *turn on sarcasm*since its in the site project forum, i'd say i'm preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetty sure it is *sarcasm off*

All joking aside, I don't think we get discussed as much because:
1)Xenogears gets a lotta remixes(but mainly from only a few songs)
2)We've been around for a while
3)We haven't been making a big deal of ourselves
4)We're not a huge scale project, unlike Summoning of Spirits
5)Most of our discussion takes place in a private forum, so that there is somewhere to bounce around WIPs and ideas without dealing with massive amounts of PM's and emails.

But hey, from the looks of it, we should be done soon. And then we'll get our turn in the spotlight.

So those of you who haven't finished their tracks *raises hand*, get to work! *kicks self mentally to get to work*

no offense, foxhull, but it's fallen into the realm of laproject and a few others because of poor leadership and a general lack of people being involved besides avaris. this is what happens when you don't get high-profile mixers on board right away, and try and hack it with unknowns.

Yeah as soon as we get 20 tracks we are done. WE HAVE 17 DONE RIGHT NOW. I have contacted a few people and taken on yet another track in order to finish this thing. The website is basically done. It will just have to be updated so it displays the correct info for the final track list. I have contacted people about mirrors too, some have agreed but I still their website info. Artists have been contacted every month or two asking them to finish their songs.

We won't be able to release until Tales and FFIV release. If the DK2 project makes faster progress than we do we will have to wait even longer. Frankly in about a month or two things could happen for that will completely take over my life but I will still send out PMs to get this thing released. It is unfair to those artists who finished songs quickly and cared about the project.

But in terms of project history Brad pretty much hit the nail on the head. There are some STELLAR tracks on this project from artists. I think there have been in the realm of 3-4 direct posts already.

Great news everyone r3forged just finished his track as well. That makes 19 total finished. I know regardless is the world ends we will be getting at least 1 more track. So this project is def a go to be released as soon as we apply the finishing touches. I would love to have 25 tracks total but I'd be more than happy with 20-22.

Hey avaris, I sent you a PM with a finished version of my track for the project. I shoulda sent that sumbitch eons ago, and I'm sincerely sorry if any kind of lack of participation on my part has hindered the project. It's certainly been a while since I've been around these parts. I've been really busy with college (as well as other things) lately, but then again, I imagine most everyone else involved in this project has too, so I guess it's no excuse.

On the bright side, it looks like there's 21 completed tracks now! Also, I don't know how close we are to the deadline, but I can still make some minor edits to the track at this point if it still isn't up to par.

Ahh still 20 dude. :) I had counted your track as done. I was satisfied with it before. But the final touches are def nice. You can def make some tweaks dude. Tales and FFIV have to be released, and DK2 is rounding out nicely too. So the que for projects is mighty. The big thing now is getting the missing wav files from people and bio/song info. And I am working on contacting people for hosting info.

hey avaris what's the status on this? i know i've been dicking you around for a long time now with my track but i'm really trying to get something done and in for this. long story summed up, i have a friend who's a huge fan of xenogears and i've told her about this project album and that i'll try my best to get in on it, and i'd really hate to wind up not keeping my word for taking too long. it's kinda like one of those "man i like this girl and i want to show her my craft by being involved in one of her favorite obsessions" situations, if you're familiar with it hahah

just throw me some kind of final end date for when you're seriously done taking submissions and i'll get you the grahf remix as soon as i possibly can. you'd definitely be doing me a huge solid, man, and i do apologize for being a procrastinator about it

There are three more songs that are just about completed. It'd be cool if we got to 25 songs but I am not gonna hold out for that at all. Getting the torrents, mirrors, and final website update with correct info could take some time. But getting in all of the finished tracks is kinda friggin essential for those next steps.

Here is an updated track list. Given the songs we know that are going to be finished 100% certainty, we should end up with 13 songs on each disc. There are a few possibilities that could work out; if that's the case we might get lucky and get 30 songs finished for the project. Just waiting on the wavs for 4 more tracks! Right in the middle of finals so things are not moving as fast as normal.

We should end up with 26 tracks I believe. I would really like to thank alot of the artists who have really stuck it out and have come through big time in the end here. Can't wait to see this released! As soon as I get all of the wavs ripped to mp3's I will send all of the mixers a link to download the tracks so they can have a listen.

With FFIV also just about finished the timing of the release is still not set in stone. As soon as I get the final wavs from people and the website finalized I'll shoot Dave and mr. Oji a message so we all can finally know when this damn thing is gonna be out there!

So I got my copy of the Xenogears OST in the mail today, and it brings back memories. It also reminded me of this project - it looks like things progressed nicely, which is good to see as I'm looking forward to the final result.

I also noticed that some tracks are omitted from the OST like Gathering Stars in the Night Sky, Flight, and Small Two Pieces - any particular reason why?

Edit: Looking at the OST, quite a lot was omitted - the OST has 44 tracks, 2 of them being garbage (sleeping in a inn songs). I feel like the whole OST is great source material.

Edit #2: Release timing is a bit hard to pick, although you'll probably want to have a meeting with Dave, Larry, and I about it, as the DKC 2 project is also nearly complete & we're shooting for an October/November release.

Beyatch! I just finished our super awesome track!

Thanks Bahamut. We let the remixers pick what songs they wanted basically. There was no way this project was gonna get off the ground when it started unless the remixers had full choice over what to do. The project is too old and I don't have enough time to devote to make sure all of the tracks are remixed. Plus it would be disrespectful to people who finished their mixes over 2 years ago. The front page is not even close to what the final project looks like. There is only one mix left to finish from Jormungand; and it's the Small Two of Pieces remix. I believe there are 26 total remixes.

I'll have to talk to you and Tauce about release dates bc basically we are finished. The website has been done for over year and a half, it just needs some text updated.

This project has everything from chant to the most baddest sequenced fiddle lead in history to sound clips from hentai films...i shite u not! Any who while not every track got remixed there are some extremely memorable tracks on this proj without a doubt. Thanks for the interest dude!

Well, the last time Abadoss sent in a last-minute collab. for a project, it turned out to be one of the best songs on the album, so I fully expect the same to happen here! :-D

To be fair, I think a lot of this projects success has to do with avaris joining because he's on so many other projects and he offered to help run it very early. That probably helped draw in some initial people.

I think any project from any noob can succeed as long as you find someone more well known to help you get it going. You never know who might've had the same idea for a project. Get at least 3-4 people interested and on it before you even make a thread, srsly.

To be honest if any noobs were looking to start projects I can give you an honest opinion about what it takes to run one, from the point of view of being someone not too established in the community. Honestly it's damn near impossible. You should at least hang around the forums for 6-12 months and prob have a mix posted. It took 3 years to complete this project. I had previous professional experience as a Conference and Meeting planner prior to my participation in this project. I was already familiar and comfortable with the "grunt" work required to run a project over the long haul. This and what fishy said helped tremendously.

But anywho if anyone wants advice just PM me!

Story time with Level 99 again (I swear maybe I'll just make a thread of stories one day, that was coolstorybro will be concentrated in at least one place :tomatoface:)

Taucer's right in the general sense about one reference, but he made it a lot less funny (well, you did!). Brad was watching someone play a DS at MAGFest, and as Taucer said, Brad had never seen one before. After ten minutes of watching someone playing it, he snaps back suddenly and yells, pretty much at the top of his lungs "OHOLY SHIT! IT HAS TWO SCREENS!!!" He legitimately didn't notice the two screens in front of him for ten minutes. We still love him anyway.

Taucer, Brad's original post has to do with stuff we said in Postpicsofself thread:

The final tracklist for this project is quite impressive, btw. What I personally enjoy, and what some others may personally despise, is that with a project that has gone on as long as this has you end up with songs made over that long period of time. You may hear something from an OCRemixer that they made before they were posted and official, and other cool things like that. Ever over the long project timeline, it shows the passion for the music was always strong.

Actually a whole mess of shite went on during the course of this project. It really outlines a crazy 3 years for me.

I am getting motivated to finish the game now. The damn 5 mins per battle started to grate on me. Only if they made this thing into a full fledged anime oh WHY!

I've actually never played Wild ARMs, and don't really plan to, yet I have two tracks on that project lulz.

TBH its more fun to remix stuff in which you have absolutely no context.

same here with la (never got past the first cave), ff4 until the project came out (and i've never beaten it), or any of the other games besides pokemon that i've participated in.

I don't actually need anything as formal as what Brad's describing, but generally I don't release videos of my kids publicly unless I have express consent from them and their parents. They gave me permission to send it to ziwtra, but not to post it publicly on the web, so I'm going to honor that.

However, if you're comming to the NC meetup, I could show you the video there.

Well, you should know I wasn't being serious at all about having you releasing the video, I was kind of yanking your chain, but that's actually pretty cool that they gave you permission to send it over to ziwtra. Might make for a fun view if xenogears is out at or before the meetup. Mmmm....TAUCERFest....

Oh, and Zeno Paradox is one of the sexiest tracks I've ever heard. Ever.

It's just a placeholder. If you don't put a date, then it would consider the release as in the past (since it's now Oct. '09) rather than upcoming. It's a quirk.

He had sent me emails once every few months. He eventually dropped his track citing he didn't he could finish it in time or make it up to snuff. His last WIPs of it were decent. I received a PM from him about 3-4 weeks ago stating he was going to brazil for a year for some stuff for his church.

Not only did he create the project, he did a tremendous amount of work in the first 6 months of the project and was very active. IMO his senior year of high school and subsequent first year of college really didn't give him the time or mental framework to run a project. Those are prob the two worst years of someone's life to try and coordinate a project, considering the sheer amount of change and craziness that happens. Just in case for people looking to run a project, I'd say I sent in the amount of 350-600 emails/pms while running this thing over the course of 3 years. Some people you'd sent multiple messages for an entire year before you get a word back. It's kinda grating after awhile, but if you can run the marathon it's worth it in the end. Some times people go through "life" for 6-7 months and are unreachable but usually come out the end of it rearing to go and churn out some sonic goodness.

Seconded from both ends. I'm still just kinda getting my feet wet and, let me tell ya, it's not easy. The balance and dedication required is ridiculous. And you have to have really good people to depend on for doing things you can't possibly have all the time for. On the other end, I've gone through that "life" phase a number of times, but when you do come back, it's usually at full force with the fires of hell lighting your motivation. Not every project may reach the finishing line, or within the range of time they intended it to complete, but those that do are usually worth all the trouble and more.

you could always run a project like i am with link's, though - i send a pm once and a while, write a song occasionally, and let the remixers provide the impetus. two schools of thought. pushing people totally gets the music out the door on time, but sometimes it's better to let things cure over time rather than trying to rush them.

Thanks dude, ended up not doing half bad for barely studying! (god i hate standardized tests)

Well I picked out one of the tracks, and Justin will pick out the other. The one track I picked out is not a debut track for the project on OCR (the mixes that are posted on the projects release)

BUT

It is worthy of a debut track and I think this is a track that deserves as much praise as it can get. I only had so many slots to choose project release tracks from, so I wanted to use this opportunity to give an awesome song part of the limelight.

God, that was so epic with the music in the background. The whole interview felt like an amazing inspirational speech, hahaha.

Seriously, though, you seem like an awesome guy, Shaun, and it was great getting to hear you talk about the project. I'm glad this all finally came through for you!

I'm just about to listen to the preview tracks... Everything I've heard about this project from friends and acquaintances is that it's one of the best projects ever released, so I have really high hopes for this!

Alright, so, I'm guessing it went in this order: Binary Chain, Quickening, and Akkadia Rising, right? All of those were great in their own respects (I especially like the percussion and the very unique beat going on in Akkadia Rising) but I have a feeling the most memorable tracks have yet to be heard. I am so psyched for this, best of luck getting this thing released already! :-D

It was def a fun interview. The project was quite a rocky road looking back on it. It was def a privilege to interact with and meet so many cool people.

The 2nd track was Echoes by Fishy. The third track was suppose to be Welcome to the Human Race by John Revoredo and Paul Weaps; but I guess ya guys got the full Akkadia Rising track instead. Akkadia Rising is by myself and the Prophet of Mephisto.

The project will be released as soon as everything is all loaded up and set into place. There are no delays for anything except how much work it takes to prepare the OCR site for a new album. :)

There is also a text based interview Square Enix Music will publish in the coming weeks. It goes into some more specifics about the project.
