www.getsouthpark.com is the latest place to host them after they air (in connection with www.southparkx.net)
Or you can grab the episodes from a torrent site where they usually pop up quickly. I get all mine from southparkx.net though. They're usually up within an hour or two of it airing.

I never thought I'd see half of a South Park episode rendered in World of Warcraft.
You can kind of tell that Blizzard had some deal with them. Of course they were probably the ones making the animations. But, Blizzard was tacked everywhere. Product placements!

I have a friend who runs a guild on another server. One of his members is a GM (everyone but the officers are basically oblivious). He had "mysteriously disappeared" for about a month up until the other day. My friend asked where he had been when the guy logged on, and his response was "Filming a South Park episode."
He's apparently the guy who did all the filming for the trailer for the Silithus/EPL outdoor PvP as well as the epic Paladin/Shaman Apple switch parody.
The GM guy has a website and everything, too, so he's definately not a hack.
Back to the topic, the differences between the South Park episode and the actual game were intended, for those who were wondering. If they made everything congruent, there'd be less to talk about with your friends, right?

Bush's voice could've been a joke itself. South Park could easily cast people with Southern accents as it does in many other episodes.
Maybe Bush's voice choice was to make him sound smart enough to pull of such an intricate plot :)

Yeah, I guess it was really only Bush in look and not feel. But, it did remind me of an old SNL skit that was very similar. Reagan was the president and he was, well typical, stupid Reagan..........until just the important people where left in the room (cabinet, top military brass, etc.). Then, Reagan turned into a hard-nosed, smart tactician. He would then switch back if anybody else came into the room. Played pretty well by Phil Hartman.

They never actually referred to him as Bush though, did they? The episode will hold up better in the future if they don't mention exactly which president they're referring to, and if the character is just a symbol. I'm positive they've broken this 'rule' in the past though.

I thought the most recent Hell on Earth episode was hilarious. My favorite was the 3 Stooges stuff with the serial killers. I wish they had done some sort of 2-part episode so I could have seen the 3 Stooges thing for a full episode or something.
However, as funny as it was, I thought Drawn Together was better last tonight. The mummy bears with sharkheads was one of the funniest things I've ever seen and so was Spanky putting his newborn child in the sausage machine.

That's the thing about South Park; they are quick to jump on any part of pop culture. I remember the South Park movie actually having lines from Episode I...which was released the next year. Matt and Trey saw the line in a early trailer and revised the movie to have the line.

Yeah, the Jarjar binks line. One of the people in "Operation Human Shield" in the South Park movie said "Is the people gonna die??" like JarJar says in Episode 1.

Not surprising considering that it doesn't really take them long to create an episode. The WoW one took about a month to complete, and others have been done faster.

If you had told me I would still be watching South Park in 2007 some nine years ago, I would have thought it impossible. It didn't seem like the show could have a long shelf life. But Matt and Trey have managed to change the show with the times and kept it current, relevant, clever, and entertaining.
The Simpsons, by comparison, were a pale shadow of their former self by seasons 10 and 11.

What I think gives this show its incredible longevity is how fast and easilly Matt and Trey can get an episode out there right on the heels of when a topic is still very hot, because SP episodes are relatively easy to make in comparison to other animation.
Its also of course, because they're so tongue in cheek with so many of the topics they openly throw out there. When it comes to animated comedic satire I'll always love the Simpsons best, but no one can touch South Park when it comes to satire on current events. Not even close. Its gotten it into its own kind of art.
You could argue yeah, that its mostly shock value. You can't argue against that too much, but just because it is shock value doesn't mean its any less relevant depending on the topic.
There was a story on CNN about this past episode, glad to see some people understand not to take the context of the episode by surface value alone.

Mind you, in a great use of comedic timing, the episode ended mid-word... but it was there nonetheless.

Preview for Tonight's Episode:
Hillary Clinton is in town for a big campaign rally. Cartman follows a lead on a possible terrorist attack.
Cartman suspects the new Muslim student is behind a terrorist threat in an all-new "South Park" entitled, "The Snuke," premiering on Wednesday, March 28. The clock is ticking as the citizens prepare for Hillary Clinton's big campaign rally. Every minute counts as Cartman uses his own methods to interrogate the suspect. But could the plan to target Hillary Clinton be just the tip of the iceberg?

I think the Southpark episode this week was awesome. It was hilarious how Stan acted as Clowie (however you spell that annoying chick's name) and how everybody's phones had the CTU ringtone. The whole skipping time idea was brilliant. Overall the episode was hilarious. If anybody is watching this season of 24, the issue of America's inside fear of radical Muslims is being confronted, and one of the morals is coming out to be that we shouldn't be quick to accuse people because of who they are. The Southpark episode was a parody of this season and the little Cartman conversation at the end was countering the concept of non-judgement. Smart that Matt and Trey caught on to 24 in such a way and was able to make a perfect parody. It's true, Cartman's intolerance saved Mrs. Clinton.

Chloe. Also, the whole "Cartman's intolerance and racism saving the day" also alludes to how Jack Bauer and other agents' rambunctious hunt of racial stereotypes (typically Muslim or Russian) tends to save the entire World. It only happened in every single season of 24 so far. Except the few times when the enemy actually was the United States itself..

I dunno... the parody seemed needless. They didn't do anything with it.
Usually when Matt and Trey base an episode around another work it's for a reason. They cleverly tie the parody in with some other issue. But not this time. It seemed, instead, mostly gimmicky.
The episode had moments of hilarity but, in the grand scope of South Park, it was an average to below-average episode.

Has anyone else noticed the trend they had this season with Cartman? Early on, he put Butters' penis in his mouth. Then, in the Tourette's episode, he "admitted" that he and his cousin put penises in their mouths. Now, he spent three whole episodes trying to get Kyle to suck his balls. Of course, there are excuses for all of these. Cartman wants to humiliate Butters and Kyle, and he can't control what he's saying in the other example, but still, 5 episodes spent with an obsession with male genitalia? I can't help but think that next week they'll spoof the Harry Potter 'scandal' and reveal that they, too, have a gay main character: Cartman.
EDIT: He admitted in the Tourette's episode to touching penises, not putting them in his mouth. Thanks, q-pa.

This really was a great episode, and not just because it had so many throwbacks to the older seasons. Stan barfing...Kenny dying, even the way the main kids acted had an older feel.
But just in general it was very fun to watch, it feels kind of like Matt and Trey have reached this point...and they decided to make something to reflect back. Kinda like making an episode to reflect on where the show's gone since it first started by making an algamation ep of all the qualities of the different periods of its life.

It wasn't particularly funny overall, and had some downright boring and stupid moments. Of course, since it IS South Park, there was some good stuff in there as well. It was a Randy episode (he's one of my friend's favorite characters), and he's usually good for some great material. I felt that the best moment was when he was discovered in the building with the computer after he finally got access to internet porn. A great moment, but it didn't save a mediocre episode.

I agree... to me this season so far is kind of a letdown. I think they should take a hiatus or something because it seems like they are taking too many things from real world events. For example, that whole Canada on strike/ Youtube episode had me bored, and now they did something interesting with the world with almost no internet, but they kind of dropped the ball in regards to the gimmicks (PORN GAGS LOL =/)and the ending (OHYEAHTHEINTERWEBZNETISAHOOGROUTERTHATGOTAWARNING SHOTANDJUST NEEDEDTOBERESETHOWSIMPLEROFL)
Yeah imma go watch the Brown Note episode.

I'm not too worried about a small lull. I'll still take a mediocre South Park episode over the best episode of most any other show on TV right now.

I liked it personally. People are so damn dependent on the internet (me included... especially me actually) going back just feels ancient, quite literally.
As South Park seasons go, it's the usual. The few incredibly great episodes, some in between types, some cute message episodes like the last Internet one. Also, it wasn't too long ago since their epic Nintendo Wii saga. I hope they do something like that again.

I've enjoyed this season so far. The last two episodes were enjoyable and caused some good laughs.
The internet one is cool. Me like.

So is anyone excited for the new episode tonight? The only thing I can find on it is this:
Season 1208: The China Probrem
"Cartman must confront the Chinese alone while the American people are haunted by the memory of recent tragic events..."
Hopefully they'll pick up the pieces after the mediocre-ness of the most recent episodes. I don't know what it was, but I just couldn't get into them.

Unfortunately you can add this one to the mediocrity list. I didn't laugh once at all during this episode.

Three full blown rape scenes. Even for the South Park guys, this was a bit much.
I laughed at simply how ridiculous TV has come to be for a cartoon to show rape. THREE TIMES.
Calpis
10-09-2008, 03:58 PM
Yeah, I pretty much only laughed at the second rape scene with the pinball machine. It was a direct rip from a movie with Jodie Foster (I think) where she got raped in a bar on the pinball machine that I saw on Lifetime or Oxygen or something like that when I stayed home from work, sick.
I'd be willing to bet the other rape scenes were rips from other movies, but I don't know for sure. I was actually waiting for the fourth rape scene to be the one from Pulp Fiction, but it never happened.

The rape scenes were all from movies, though I don't remember which ones specifically.
I was actually very disappointed when they revealed that the rape victim that the trailer alluded to was Indy and not a South Park character. They already did an episode about George Lucas ruining movies (Season 6- Free Hat), and while the joke was sort of funny about Indiana Jones being raped, it was more suited to a one-shot thing rather than a running gag, or worse, the whole subplot being based on it.
The first act was brilliant in my opinion, but the second and third were the same jokes as the first. Act 1 had Cartman waging war on the Chinese to prevent them from attacking us, which basically continued through Acts 2 and 3. It also had the Indy rape reference and the Butters shooting the guy in the d*ck, both of which were really funny the first time, and really abused the second and third times.
I actually thought they'd have an Emmy-quality episode last night. I was sure Butters would be raped by a Chinese person and Cartman would use that as an excuse for waging war on an entire race. The emotional payoff of the boys leaving Butters behind would have been worthwhile, and Cartman could have been used in much more creative ways (kind of like his Season 8 Hitler sequence in "Passion of the Jew").
I give last night's episode a 6/10. It was really funny for the first ten minutes, but the jokes being repeated didn't work out.
As an aside, I didn't see Indiana Jones 4. Was it actually that bad?

So after redeeming themselves last week with what proved to be a really enjoyable episode, this week's was the epitome of WTF. Honestly, I may have laughed once (when Craig told the boys that everyone at school thinks that they're a-holes). What's with the Peruvian Flute Band thing, why did they feel the need to reference yet ANOTHER movie (Cloverfield this week), and why did this otherwise pointless episode need to be *SPOILER* a 2-parter *END SPOILER*? It didn't make sense, and it wasn't very funny. I laughed more during House this week than I did South Park; there's something wrong with that.
sephfire
10-23-2008, 09:20 PM
Yeah, kind of a dud episode, but I don't live in an area that would attact Peruvian street bands. Maybe other parts of the country are more familiar with them and would find it funnier. Seems like an odd story to stretch out over two episodes, but maybe part two will serve up the funny.

Being an owner and lover of guinea pigs, that angle got me really good. I was laughing hysterically more because I find those little buggers adorable. Having them destroy cities was just fun for me.
The rest of the episode, like the season, wasn't too compelling.

Well, the idea struck me as hilarious, since I bought one of those 'Peruvian Flute Band' CD's when they were playing at the mall once. The actual rest of the episode though wasn't terribly good.

So last night's episode was really impressive on a couple of levels. The episode itself was ultimately a movie parody (more precisely a style parody) of things like Oceans 11, but it was pulled off pretty well. I have to assume that they figured Obama would win, though I don't doubt that they've been working on this episode long enough that a McCain victory would have resulted in basically the same episode with some things reversed. I look forward to the Season 12 DVD set to see if in fact there was an alternate episode largely ready to air last night.
The big thing about the episode for me was that it felt *right*. I was a McCain supporter, and several of my friends were Obama supporters. It was interesting to see how they really showed the two extremes: the excessive and largely groundless fear that Obama's victory means the end of the world on one side, and the excessive stupidity in partying about an inarticulable "change" that is coming on the other. I give Matt and Trey a lot of credit for this one.
South Park last night was really a nice episode because it pulled the sides together after the divisiveness of the campaign. While this episode didn't feature the boys very prominently (though Cartman having stolen all of the televisions from the people partying in the streets was golden), I think it worked pretty well. It probably won't be one of those timeless episodes (the closest we've gotten to that recently was probably the Breast Cancer show), but its effectiveness as a timely commentary was really strong in my opinion.
What did you guys think?

I can't help but think that Kanye West is the next Michael Jackson, in that his music is great but, as a person, he's a little weird. Let's hope that he doesn't let the latter completely overshadow the former like Jackson did.
(Jackson got SO off-the-charts crazy starting in the 90s that I doubt Kanye will ever get that bad, but you get my point.)
Glad to step in and see some action in this thread again!

I don't think his music is that great. Certainly not Michael Jackson great. I don't like him on his own stuff, but I like him when he's on other peoples' beats.
But regarding the South Park laughs - it's been a weird season. Just saw "The Ring" last nite for the first time (which I loved) and I've seen everything else this season so far. Getting... weird. Season 12 was "okay" too with some hit or miss. "Imaginationland" was the last "great" thing to me. But we'll see where it all goes. They've done what they do for so long and they still make me laugh, unlike The Simpsons, which has become completely unwatchable to me.
Ah well.
Good to see Kanye under the knife, and his blog response was priceless.
