Probably a stupid post but I'm a huge fan of the Kong in Concert album. Is an album for DKC2 a possibility? I know there have been some remixes made already for some songs but I'd really like to see something for all the songs in the game. They're all great!

Why not start one yourslef? As long as it's an idea yuou think people would like, and it is proporly executed, it shouldn't be a problem, especially for such a good game, and doubly so for following in the footsteps of a hit like KiC.

Some people do not have the time/energy/patience to go through with a project.
We at OLR are doing a project, though I can't get a link to the thread since it's down at the moment :( I will post it once the link goes back up.

A DKC2 project would definitely recieve my stamp of approval.
I would be on one so quick, I'd jump on half the tracks.

As extremely unwuse as it is to be running two projects at once, I have no problem running this one. Im that close. Think I should? I mean, CtC isn't eating up my time nearly as much as I thought it would. I could easily get away with a second one.
Should I? I think I am.

If you make a DKC2 project make sure it has pretty strict quality control. Have people send previous work to make sure they're good enough or something. If there's a DKC2 project it'd better be godly... it's one of my favorite OSTs.
I remember two or three DKC 2 projects starting right after KiC but they all died.
Good luck!

I would be interested in running the project myself but I've never done one before so I wouldn't know where to start! ^_^;; Though if someone else is interested I would be more than happy to maybe help run the project.

I think, even from just having a project for a few months, that isn't even done yet, I have enough experience to have an idea of where to go with this thing. Dix, if you really are interested in making this thing work, I could definitely be your co-coordinator.
I'm on several times a day, and could help you with whatever questions you have, besides going off and doing what's needed, like PMs, or whatever.
What do you think? I can start whenever you think is a good time.

:? ... Wow, supporters already. Well, if this is going to work, there are a few steps to take. First, find the tracklist, including all the levels, maybe a bonus stage, any general, re-occurring music, whatever...
If you need quality mixers, I would also recommend contacting EVERY mixer that was on Kong in Concert, save Protricity. What exactly happened to him, anyway? I've heard a few different things. Mostly, being slapped with a permanent ban on several sites. But I do have to say, "Minecart Misadventure" blows my mind.
After that, contact any mixers that are your favorite. Go listen to about 100 mixes (Seriously), all from different mixers, and shave it down to about 20. But, keep the list, in case you get any rejections. Contact who you think are those best artists, and pray for a response.
After all that, make a new thread here in ReQuests, but contact me first. In fact, contact me anyway, just to discuss the thing.

maybe you should not be starting a remix project on a whim like this, especially since you're already running one. do you even have a concept for this project besides "remix the whole thing"? is it gonna be kong in concert pt 2, are remixers from the last one gonna be involved, is it gonna be something completely original, etc.

I was talking about the fact that I would need the MIDIs, to tell the difference between jingles, actual tracks, short things... whatever. A 12-second bit can be made into a track, if done good enough.
It's short tracks that worry me when going for coverage, hence why I'd rather let people choose stuff on Children of Erdrick. Still, does anyone remember Sonniku Ganbatte from Hedgehog Heaven? That's an example *not* to do it. 8O
Geoffrey Taucer
11-01-2006, 01:21 AM
Bowser is Pissed? the sourcetune for that mix is about five seconds long. Victory Festival? About twelve. Fleeting ecstacy? About two.
If mixers want to arrange short tunes, let them.
Anyway, it looks like I"m not heading off to tour with cirque just yet, so count me in if this project gets off the ground.
Bowser is Pissed? the sourcetune for that mix is about five seconds long. Victory Festival? About twelve. Fleeting ecstacy? About twenty.
Fixed. I thought he covered Wing Cap? 8O
Still yeah, as my post was trying to say, it's just really tough making a mix out of something so short, so judging by what we've seen in prior coverage, if anyone wants to make the songs justice they must have some really, REALLY good compositional skills.
I'm sorry if any of my posts in here came off of snobbish

I would LOVE a DKC2 remix project, so you've got my best wishes for the project. Let it be true!
Less Ashamed Of Self

Here's the thing:
When Kong in Concert first wrapped up, Darkesword (I believe, in an early episode of VGDJ; around 8...) locked a thread saying there should be, essentially, a Kong in Concert 2. Now mind you; this was for various reasons.
a) It was a pretty unoriginal proposal.
b) It was riding on the coattails of KIC's success.
and c) It was to be organized, without mod concent, by someone who did not a significant enough reputation, nor proof of the skill necessary to warrant them leading such a project.
This said, this does not change the fact that the DKC2 OST holds the #4 spot on my top 25 VG Soundtracks. (http://lukewilliams.org/Misc/tops.html) Naturally, any respectable reinterpretation of the soundtrack will please me and ultimately I will support any endevours here. I have actually taken a stab at it twice, remixing both the roller coaster theme and the ice theme well over 2 years ago.
Now, as for my two cents as to how things could/should be remixed? I WOULD say that the entire soundtrack doesn't need to get coverage. Certain tracks could easily be left out.... but I won't go into all of the details of a vision I would have until more has been discussed here. If someone steps forward as a leader in this project I'll gladly just shut up and see what happens. I'd even be a potential mixer since Bound Together seems to have broken my streak of terrible Remix Project contributions.
Best wishes to all. Please do not make KIC2.

Alright, it looks like, here are our priorities:
- NOT call it a KiC2
- Get a Judge or other high up to run this thing
- Find a unique way to do it, to separate it from the first.
- Pull out everything we can to ensure quality mixers, no matter what that means. What it means we'll need to do, I can only guess.
If we do get someone big to lead, I suppose I can be co-coordinator, or maybe Dix Princesse.

I like how he completely ignores my offer to coordinate it.
Of course, I'm not a judge, but I think at this point I can say in all modesty that people know my name around here, and I think I'm well-connected enough to pull in a few pretty high-level mixers.

Geoffrey Taucer
11-13-2006, 12:32 AM
Ok, so do you want to co-coordinate it, or should I do the whole thing?
Also, should we start this immediately, or should we wait awhile? I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt to wait, since there are currently about twelve million projects in the works, most of them started recently.
In the meantime, I'll see if I can gather interest for this.
Pi_R_[]ed

I like how he completely ignores my offer to co-coordinate it.
Waiting can't hurt at all. While we wait, it gives us the chance to plan ahead for... every... single... part, step by step. Something like this can't just be like, one two three. I honestly wouldnt mind waiting a whole year to get it started. But, hey, that's not up to me anymore .
So, go ahead, I suggest making a new thread. Tracklist up, with a link to samples. Stay away from setting up WIP dates an' stuff untill things are more definite.
