I'm not going to flip-flop on the tanking/not taking remixes thing. I've done it a couple of times already... Sorry. Still, you should try for the regular OCR remixes any way. Every remix added is only a good thing, and if it's a Pokémon one, so be it.

Anyway, I was thinking of this as the cover art, but a longer shot. Thats supposed to be a pokemon in the background btw. :P And it should be a pokemon near the beginning, so its like the start of the journey. And the back cover could be a shot of the shore of cinabar island, like Poinko sketched.

The black background needs some details, I think. It's kind of dark and featureless. Maybe a watermark-like pattern. It could easily tile and add some texture. We should set up some time on IRC this week to go over it. PM me with a basic schedule for your self and we'll see what can be worked out.

If it's beneficial, I'd like everyone in the project to show up as well, so we can go over any other details. Once a time is decided, we'll set it up.

Yeah, that's actually kind of a good idea. Another thing I had thought of was having the missingno texture on the left and right outside borders of the page, fading into black. The content section would sit centered on top.

Basicly... I'd sat remixes are about 85% done (mostly waiting on finalizing the remaining ones), with the artwork at about 90% (most of it will be used on the website), and the website is pretty much at 10% (we have a layout and a general design for it, but no one has started making it yet).

So I'm trying to get my old Main Theme files to work with my new box, and right now it's like trying to fit a fist in a keyhole: it just doesn't want to cooperate. From what I remember, all my track needed was a better ending, some small EQing, and a better title. The Damned, can you confirm this? If that's the case, I'll work my ass off to get the files to work, otherwise I may start from scratch or release my claim on the track if that's necessary. Let me know.

Ah man... Pokecenter mixes almost always seem hard to pull off. The old R/B & G/S Pokecenter music is so grating... hell, I'd say it only got tolerable for more than a few seconds just with Diamond & Pearl.

When you source tune can be annoying, it doesn't seem easy to make it rock.

Oh dear, we have a slight problem.

Willrock and Rozo have posted a Route 1 remix, but Protodome has also posted one as well. Will and Rozo got theirs up first, but not by much. Both are interesting and enjoyable remixes, but axing one over the other arbitrarily is kind of... arbitrary. It's not fair to anyone.

So, I guess the fairest and most transparent way is to have everyone else vote on it. Hit up the project forums and have a listen and a vote for the one you think should be carried on with. The other one can still try for an OCR acceptance, seeing how there is now a few Pokémon remixes already.

I like the voting idea, but can't the less 'liked' one be a bonus track? Would be better than it being axed from the project.

Hmm...maybe we can release a Special Edition, with most of the same tracks, throw in one or two others, and then charge $40 for it.

I guess we can throw a few in. Maybe put them hidden somewhere on the website, and on the tracklist, put something like "Track 20: ???", sort of like unlocking the National PokéDex. It's a silly idea, but maybe something like that.

I hesitate to use little gimmicks like that, but it might be sort of fun to do. I'm kind of "meh" on the whole idea.

Why not just do a quick megaupload? I know it expires after a certain amount of inactivity, but since it's just a preview and the project should be out EVENTUALLY, it should work. I prefer the rock/metal arrangements, but I often like even other genres (thanks to OCR), if they sounds good to my ears. I just need to listen the entire songs.
I really love Pokémon soundtrack and this project has the potential of all the missing Pokémon remixes that I was waiting for. Still, I don't want to expect too much, because I know that not all the remixers do my favourite styles of music, but I'm sure all of you will do your best.

So, basically, we have 18 completed remixes, which quite a bit more than my original minimum number, and I love all of them.

We also have a lot of good artwork for the site and the CD cover. Thanks to our artists again.

The basic layout of the website is done, and the overall design is good. Mostly, it's just laying out the different parts and hosting it.

The final part of the whole thing is a release date. If Nintendo would get off their asses and post a release date for Heart Gold and Soul Silver in North America, we could release before it to cash in on the hype.

There. The reason why it's not out yet is Nintendo's fault. Blame them for everything.

I keep forgetting: how long was the OST for the first 7 mainstream Pokemon games? (Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal)
You forgot Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, and Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. Last I heard, they were considered "mainstream" games (by which I think you mean "main series").

To answer you question, if you remove the remakes and their music, but include music made exclusively for the third versions (Yellow, Crystal, Emerald and Platinum), we get roughly 415 songs. Now, we could cut that down a bit by removing some songs that carry the same melody (like the Gym Leader theme that is used across the series) and the various chimes and event tunes (barely even six notes, if that), we still get well over 350 songs.

Now, as much as I like to do the entire series to date, I thin that would be a never-ending task, and I think the talent drain is bad enough. Besides, we have a nice sampling of each generation, and I think it works.

Maybe in the future, if this album is popular enough... a sequel album? "The Missingno Tracks: Special Pikablu Edition"?

We are taking music from GameBoy, GameBoy Advance and DS games, and redoing them into vocals pieces, piano solos, psychedelic mindtrips, and punk/ska rock-outs, using everything from saxophones to DragonAvenger's voice. If that meets your definition of "perfecting", then there you go.

As for the idea of cashing in, a new game always gets the fan community excited. This way, we get more attention, which means more downloads and torrent use, which means more people listen to the music we put all this effort and time into.

Besides, it's not like we're aiming for the exact same day. I would love to get at least two to four weeks before. If they both came out on the same day, everyone would be busy playing the game to even bother with this album. We'd put it out and no one would bother looking it up. That would make us a bunch of sad pandas.

Mostly, there are only three or so remixes left. One with DragonAvenger who had computer problems, and a couple of remixes that just popped up.

They were too awesome for this project. Those will be saved for Missingno Tracks Special Edition, coming out later this year. It has a different cover and a few extraa songs for only a few hundred bucks extra!

Ha, I remember when once upon a time the race was to finish the project before Diamond/Pearl hit stateside. Damned felt that the album would face a huge setback since everyone working on it would, as true Poke'mon fans, switch gears to the new game.

And here we are almost three years later. I cannot wait to hear the final product.

once the final tracklist is organized, i'm going to do a bunch of kickass pokemon remixes and fux some things up around here.

i need to get back to spamming the pkmn forums.

Also, I want more Prophet remixes. You don't get enough credit for the stuff you've done.

OK, so there's a bit of an issue with artwork at this point.

Basically, we have had several different artists come in at different points, and they all did some nice work... but their individual styles and skill levels aren't matching well.

I've also noticed that we don't really have a coherent overall style or subject. It's mostly different little clips of artwork scattered all over the place. I believe the issue with that is that we (and certainly myself, of course) were in what I like to call "OK, that's awesome and let's do it now and not look back" mode.

So for now, I've locked the project board's artwork thread, and will be reconsidering the entire direction of the album's artwork.

It might be a few days before there's any real decision made.

I'd like to thank our artists for the work they have done so far. It's not your fault per se, so much is it is a lack of managing it better on my part.

Just listened to Champion's Horizon on OCAD, and it was absolutely beyond awesome. I remember the first time I surfed to Route 27 and heard that theme. That, and finding out that I was in Kanto (that's right, fucking Kanto from RBY) gave me an experience that was close to an orgasm, and the remix absolutely portrayed the feeling I had when I went into Kanto in Silver. Awesome work, Willrock. Can't wait for this song along with the others on the album.

So you're having art woes eh?

I know plenty of really good artists that might be able to pitch in. I know that other OCR album art usually have a single artist making them so as to be consistant.

I can't say much for my art myself, and I'm not sure it would be up to snuff, but I have connections. If you think you could use a different artist to work on it, let me know, I can find someone.

No offense to the rest of the artist. Heck, I haven't even seen the existing art in question, but I can tell ya that art consistancy is pretty important when it comes to presentation, and if you have a lot of artists working on one project, well, it can sometimes look sloppy, no matter how good the individual art looks.

Just my two cents. :p
