Without your officially worded consent-thingies, the album can not go through. It's part of the newer project guidelines OCR instated last year, but no one ever mentioned it until now. I was under the impression that since this project was grandfathered in as it was tarted well before the new guide was put on place, and from other directors in the same situation saying they never had to do so, we didn't need to do so. But that's OK, because we want everything to be nice and official, right?

October 7th, 2010 Update:

With a somewhat heavy heart, I have decided to cut the two remaining remixes, due to issues regarding both availability of the files as well as time constraints. This project, even when you factor in the first year where it was under completely different management, is going on towards its forth year. It's time to wrap it up. But you never know! Maybe those missing remixes will somehow show up later. Like as a bonus. Like a Mew or a Celebi. (That's a hint, by the way.)

Now, it's with great pleasure that I announce that The Missingno Tracks is now complete! You should be seeing the official unveiling of the album in the next few months. Why so long? There are other albums that get to be released first. It's only fair. Each album is the work of dozens of people over months or even years, so it's only fair each one get some limelight.

So, here we are. Two discs, over an hour and a half of music, with a total tracklist of 28 remixes. 28. And to think, there were points when I would have been happy with half of that, and I was expecting even less. I honestly didn't think this would ever happen. Six years ago, I joined OverClocked Remix, and the very first post I made was in Requests. I asked for, you guessed it, Pokémon remixes. I had a giant list of source material, I bumped it every so often... but sadly, it never went anywhere.

How things have changed! Not only has this project been completed, there are also several Pokémon remixes that have passed the high standards of OCR in the meantime. Six years later, and I finally have my first request granted multiple times!

To those that worked on this album, I thank you for your work, your skill, and most of all, your patience. I know it's been a long time, and there were some serious stretches of inactivity. There were even times when the project was about to collapse. But you stuck through it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

To those who have been waiting for this album, I also thank you for your patience. I know it's been forever, but at least we were done sooner than the original Pokémon games; Pokémon Red and Green in Japan took over six years to make! In comparison, we aren't that bad.

Ahh, I seem to be running out of space for this. I'll end it now, and let you enjoy everything as it comes out.

I've put a project sig request up in the sig shoppe with poinkos artwork to pimp the project.
I shall shortly be doing an update on my Gym Battle mix, get the solos done and then call my mate up about a live drum track :D.
I'm gonna e-mail jaroban and actually ask for what he wants me to play, cause I've been waiting for ages.
I'm gonna pick a new battle theme to remix... in pretty much the same way, lol. More of the same. But different obviously. Maybe with a much more mellow approach in places. Suggestions welcome.

Uh... what else. We should see if we can drag Taucer back into this. It's a shame he left in the first place, and as you say, it's not as if theres no plenty of time.

Hey... Long time no see... Just confirming I'm still in, and I'm having holidays next week, so I might start doing something. But last time I tried (which was couple months ago XD) I got no ideas at all, so if that happens again, I will either look for a collab or drop the project...

Maybe the Art Museum Theme (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/428/63) from RSE. It's a sort of slower-paced song compared to the rest of the music, and is already a few minutes long, so filling it out shouldn't be a problem.

Also, for anyone that is having trouble deciding upon a song still, try the following links. You can listen to the original in-game music (the only problem is that they're MP3, so they will take a while to go through):

Fire Red and Leaf Green (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/427) (mostly remakes of the original RBY music and some of the GSC music, but still a goof reference).

Original GB version for RBY (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/3668), includes "voice" samples of the fist 151 pokes and the sound effects.

Gold and Silver (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/3256) A few redone songs, but mostly for Kanto. The rest has a strange mix of Eastern style music in it.

Ruby and Sapphire (http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/428). There are a lot of songs here, and a few have been picked up already (see the first page).

I had a link to the new Emerald music, but I can't find it now. The music is for the Battle Frontier ection they added, and adds 16 songs to the total, just over three hundred songs.

Actually no one is doing Gary's theme, I took a look at it a while ago and decided not to. Pointlessly complicated. I'm considering another battle track atm so it's on the cards for myself, but we'll see.

Also sorry if i seemed contemptuous (so a word) towards your project, I think it's awesome and we thank you very much for your support of the project.

I just got a PM from Doulifée containing protoype pokemon project sigs and they look awesome. He's just gonna add some text and borders and then i'll post em up here for everyone involved to steal. There'll be 3 to choose from; the machamp, the ghastly and the graveller, all of which poinko drew and you can see at the forums. They will be very useful project pimpers so everyone thank Doulifée next time you post near him.

I've emailed Jaroban about the guitar work, and i'm really getting into the theme, should be fun to play for.

Finally I've narrowed down my 2nd mix to either the 1st Trainer battle theme from G/S or the wild pokémon theme also from G/S, although I am leaning towards the wild pokemon battle, it's got some good themes to mess with, but the trainer one has double the source material to work with and will be easier probably.

Any preferences or thoughts?

No replies to email or PMs leaves me thinking that he has either died in some sort of combine accident, or he's lost access to the internet (jail? Military service? Marriage?).

Pu_freak: hrm, i love your arrangement ideas, but the final thing has huge timing issues, far too quirky in general. I am pretty sure its under the bar in that respect.

I am however going to suggest that you should definately arrange a full solo piano piece for this track, as that would give you have rubatic (thats a word, honest) freedom. Or on the other hand you could perhaps arrange it for someone else to produce.

I do really like your arrangement though. Wait and see what the damned and the prophet think.

That's the project forum. You still have an account there, so just log back in and you're ready to go. You still going to do that remix you posted here (http://kyeu.info/poke/forums/viewtopic.php?t=53&highlight=)?

There's a cut-off date of November 30th. That's when everyone who isn't active gets cut, and they are no longer in the project. You can still make it, just as long as you have something to show that you're still going to participate (too many people just up and disappeared).

And you can do more than one song, now. Prof of Meph is doing two as are a few others. And we have sexy project sigs now, thanks to our artist. Check the first page of this thread for details.

I'm the remixer doing the Gym Leader Battle theme and I've pretty much finished it, but its only of the Red/Blue/Yellow versions. We're not doing all the tracks (by a long shot) and so I would say its fairly unlikely that the other gym leader battle theme will be remixed at all.

For one days work this isn't bad at all. The whole thing is a bit dry, needs filling out, a few delays, bit o reverb, it'll make it sound much better. The transition to house style is pretty good, and given time and work this could be pretty darn good. It's definately a good starting point and I would say yes, but ultimately it's The Damned's decision.

No, it's just that we took some time doing some of those remixes. There were also times when someone was waiting for another person to provide lyrics, vocals or another instrument. And then there were the times when everybody just up and disappeared for a few weeks.

And there's still artwork, the webpage, the titles, the project name, setting up the distribution... there are lots of things to still do. And any remix still has to be tweaked and reviewed by the rest of us before we accept it.

Another Soundscape, you only provided a submission. You still have to actually do a serious remix. What you have now is good, but there is always some room for improvement. But that's not for here.

I really appreciate this project, since Pokemon's a game with strong, memorable melodies and yet no successful representation on OCR to date.

One other thing, though: I imported Pearl back in October. The music in the new games is leagues ahead of any Pokemon game to date, even considering the DS Lite's lacklustre speaker quality. Any of you guys heard some of the new music? I continue to be impressed.

I downloaded a torrent of the Super Collection CD that was released a few weeks ago. All of the music. Even the day and night variations.

Too bad I will not be able to buy it when it comes out here. I must wait... wait and wait and wait, until such time as my studying and exams are complete. For I know that once I get the game in my Ds and that DS comes to be in my hands, I will not be able to stop playing it. I will forget important equations, procedures and codes. Yes, that would be bad. I'm not losing a massive pay raise and bonuses to a game.

As GSlicer already pointed out, it's quite the opposite: the series uses music from the games. The cartoon was produced and aired two years (April 1997) after the first games came out (February 1995). Most casual and non-fans associate the games and the show because of the heavy marketing during the late 90s. But they are hardly the same thing, just as The Super Mario Bros. Show would be to that line of games.

Now, in all fairness, each new season of the show does use music from the newest games to some degree, but the music in question was originally composed for the games, which are produced and released several months in advance of the show. The show simply reuses the same compositions because it's part of the same overall franchise. But the series, and particularly the movies, do use original themes that do not appear in any of the games.

If you were to raise the matter with any seriousness, you would also have to mention that a variety of the Sonic The Hedgehog music was also used in the Sonic series over the years. As was a lot of the Super Mario Bros. music for the various incarnations of its respective TV shows. And the same goes for the Zelda cartoons. And the Captain N cartoon. And a lot of other shows that are based upon games.

I brought this to the attention of the staff, and after their comments and ponderings and whatnot, decided to reply not just to the person, but directly to the site in question. I figured that is this person was speaking on behalf of his site, I should just skip the middle man.

Anyway, short version, I politely turned down this request, because of some issues that were brought up during our discussion. Hopefully, there aren't any bad feelings between our two groups. I don't think there should be, but in case there are... well, there's not much I can do about that.

Any way. Carry on.

I believe that the Japanese show used different music, composed by Hirokazu 'Hip' Tanaka, which is rarely heard in the English version. I'd have to research further to see if that's true though.
