I enjoy thoroughly!Rather expansive it be necessarily.
Just for everyone, that bracket means quite a few games, but it's nothing different from the DE's we've done in the past - plus, I have no deadlines except for the final one. Reporting will be critical, unfortunately, but there exists a good combination between good play and active participation.
Plus, there's gonna be a lot of byes in that first round...
I'll create a basic schedule shortly - again, if you're used to the old double-eliminations we used to do, you'll understand this pretty quickly.
The grand final (if we ever get to it) will be a 3-game match, with the undefeated player needing only 1.5 points to win, the X-1 player needing 2.0 points.

Use http://games.yahoo.com , http://www.playchess.com , or http://www.freechess.org .
RULES:
2-game matches. Tiebreakers used if match ends tied. Alternate colors, with the high seed as white in odd-numbered games. Regular games use 12/12 clocks. Tiebreakers use 6/6 clocks.
Undo Turn may only be used to fix slips of the finger. Previous rules for disconnects and abandoned matches will be employed. Using computer assistance will result in permanent ejection from the OCRCL.
To report an unavailable or reluctant player, send a PM to me (kamoh) and explain the situation clearly and carefully. A report lasting 2 days or more will result in a 2-0 victory for the reporting player. You may play provisional matches to decide possible future matchups.
DOUBLE-ELIMINATION SCHEDULE
Reading the schedule: All matches are listed as if the higher seed advances. If an upset occurs, the two players switch seedings. A player's next match is the next game listed in which their seed appears.
Matches in green are "winner's bracket" matches. Winners continue with green matches, losers drop to playing red matches. Matches in red are "loser's bracket" matches. Winners continue with red matches, losers are eliminated and given placement.
The Tournament Champion is the player who has completed the most rounds of the bracket. Tiebreaker is current seeding.

I won both games against grayfox. He was doing fine in the first one, but he shot himself in the foot around move 17 by losing his queen. I ended up getting to where I was two moves out of an unavoidable checkmate, but yahoo wouldn't let me move to the appropriate spot, so I made that last move instead and he graciously forfeited.
As for the second game, you know... that's the power of pawns.

2-0 with Fionn. I also chatted with him a little. Pretty cool dude. I managed to avoid hating him even though he sings tenor. I'd been playing chess for a few hours and I was really on the ball for these games:

It does sound like your holiday season is better than mine, on the whole. I'm working every day this week, and what's more, I have to, because I'm in hock with Visa over all my Xmas shopping. It'll be nice to graduate and stop spending 80% of my time on something that not only doesn't pay me, but costs me a substantial amount of money. The life of a poor student. Prolonged adolescence. Meh.

Well, I showed up when I said I would, again. I've been waiting online here for about two and a half hours, again. Jessica's not responding to my messages, again. I received some messages from earlier today because I left aim on before I left for work, but no response to the messages I've sent since arriving home.
I'll be back again tomorrow night, just after nine, North American Central Standard Time. Approximately 21.5 hours from the time of this post. I'll check online for her and I'll play her if she's around. But I'll be spending New Year's Eve with my lady friend, so if we don't catch up tomorrow, I don't know when we're gonna get this done. For this reason, as of right now, I'm reporting Jessica. So she'd better show up soon.

uh, report+counter report -> this might end up with each of you getting a point each ...
Just wanted to share a game i played against some guy in advanced lounge (yahoo chess). He had a rating of 2400 - and i was absolutely sure he was using some chess program (W:200~ L:2 D:10) making moves in exact 5 second intervals-even tho some moves which should take just 2-3 seconds and some require much more.(even though he said he was an IM at the end, meh).
As you have it with conventional chess programs(assuming), they dont know the meaning of maintaining an initiative. The following game illustrates that.I've played this line a lot in my school days.
Typical thoroughly analyzed nimzo-indian, offbeat b5 variation.Pretty much all the starting 11 moves are forced here.White only hopes for a good endgame in this. For the majority of the game i was trying to prevent the 'a' pawn push.
Analysis of this game follows after the moves.

Ok- so in the beginning - Following the KISS (Keep it simple stupid) principle. Knight on d6 had to go asap,I was just lookin to recapture the pawn on c4.
I wouldve agreed to a draw around move 30 but i had a nagging suspicion that if my opponent was using a chess prog. he wouldnt aware of the fact that whites central pawns are crucial. Watch move no. 33 where he seals his fate by g5!? clearing the path for my d and e pawns.
The ensuing battle was more for space,i actually spent 2 min thinking about move # 52. Rb6!(threatening a backrank mate-Ne4 etc.)-this forces a rook exchange later on simplifying the position.
Must say one of the most satisfying games ive had whole month.

I'm speeding things up. Reports have been assessed, and I've given Rainman losses cause of Gator Bowl commitments (I assume he's in Florida). Most games have been advanced a fair way, and JD will play salaxzar for the probable title - unless they don't play, and my reports all go through...which they probably will...and I'd win ;)
Jessica is also sitting out there with a long way advanced, and will play the winner of Keegan/Bahamut, if that match gets finished.
EDIT: BTW you all have 10 hrs, 8 mins to finish the tournament.
