Man, what a huge loss for the world. Godfather of soul, funkiest man alive. Without him the b-boy culture probably wouldn't be where it is today.
Rest in Paradise...

Another legend passes. The original Blues Brothers was on cable the other day and I can still remember the church scene vividly... Who's next, Arethra?

Rest in peace. This man inspired entire genres of music. We even had to learn James Brown style drumming in my Percussion I class.

James Brown is one of the all-time greats and one of my personal fav artists. It's sad to see him go, but it had to come sooner or later. Greatest James Brown moment? Rocky IV, of course.
Also, James Brown went straight to hell. It fits him better.

I just finished reading this great article in USA Today about James and how influential he was in many genres. He may not have been the nicest guy, but he was an important man in the evolution of music. Even outside of music, he did great work with the Black Power movement and helping to quiet riots.
Also, I want to get his last album, which was put out in '02. That way I would have the beginning and end of The Hardest Working Man In Show Business.

The best of the funkiest musicians I've ever known.
I hope Jackie Chan and Jennifer Love Hewitt weren't in the same room with him wearing a gadget tuxedo yesterday.
Joking aside, RIP, funky-man. This'll get me listening to your tunage more often.
