Final Fantasy 6 'The Atomizer'
Whatever Mustin was on, i want some of it. This three car pile up
of movie clips, guitar shredding, and saxophone seduction is
probably the single most bizzare thing we've heard out of Mustin.
Check out the Haunted Hell (IncuCujoKonda D. Bros Mix) for more
Mustin weirdness. Very cool.

This remix embodies Mustin, and I say that because it's creative in the extreme. I garuntee that on your first listen you will be going, "I loved Atma Weapon! WTF did he do to it???" But give it time to grow on you, and you'll realize that it's probably in the top FF remixes on this site.

Mustin is AMAZING at making very unique ReMixes (Team Gato, and definitely this)
Listen to it, and it's an instant OC ReMix classic.

I can remember the first time that I listened to this at my friends house (he had downloaded it earlier that week and I hadn't had a chance since I was still using silly dial-up) when he played it for me I went crazy, at that point it was our favorite on OCR. The voice samples really made the song for me though, although that's probably the same for everyone.

This a very "out there" and crazy remix.....well done, and VERY unique, but just seems a little too crazy for me....but then again, maybe we all need some craziness in our life :)

Damn. this remix is hella tight... first time i listened to it, it freaked me out... then relistening to it, it brings out the pristene struggle of the battle on the floating contienent... i remember the first time i played ff6... and this song describes that PERFECTLY! 5 stars. :D Good job, Mustin

I used to complain (well sorta) that there weren't enough weird or crazy remixes on this site. That complaint is no more thanks to this awesome mix by Mustin, who is quite frankly the man. Some nice remixage all around - I especially like the "Gave over man!" quote and all the Final Fantasy sounds near throughout the mix. Great Great job. Without a question, one of the best remixes on this site.

You know, the Floating Continent was and crazy place to begin along with its theme song. then along came this piece. I had to listen to it again just to make sure I hadn't lost MY mind. All I can say is...WHOA! Who'd thought this would become one of my favs. (Who'd thought to mix this song from FFVI?) Nice job, Mustin!

This...is scary. And freaky. And bizzare. And...uh, well, it's sonically insane.
Overall, I suppose I have to admit it's pretty cool, and the ending reminds me of the great difficulty I had the very first time I battled Atma Weapon.
Still... I don't think I could listen to this every day, lest I take mind-numbing medication beforehand.

Excuse my constant posting, I'm new; I just want to review a few things that I've downloaded.
Halfhearted disclaimer aside, this is a hell of a piece, in the best way possible. It's got a cool stereo switch in the beginning, which then goes into a furious buildup, which comes to the original Atma Weapon fight music, complete with little bleeps and bloops from the menu selection in the background.
After the main theme is stated--I'm doing this from memory, so the sequence is probably wrong--comes my very favorite part. The guitar and sax solos. The guitar is awesome, but the saxophone is so great that I'd love to hear a full ReMix in the style.[/subtle hint]
The rest kinda falls out of my memory after that, but there are some cool sound samples used in bizarro ways. For instance, some Looney Tunes plays in the beginning.
Domukaz gives five out of five for being original, and for those few seconds of jazzy bliss.

Listening to this reminded me very much of how It went the first time I fought the Atma Weapon.
I think that I am the only one who got what he did at the end. The person is defeated, and he says "Aw crap"
The "you died" music starts, and the guy gets up and turns off the game. Then he walks out muttering "Stupid game"
I'm pretty sure that Mustin just hid a microphone in my room for most of the track's inspiration.
I give it 999/1000, for truly replicating a day in my gaming life.

There are 3 sets of words that came to my head when I first started to listening to this song. The first is "What the hell? " The second was "Insanity alert!" and the the third "Awesome! I love it!". Seriously though. I love the complete contradiction of everything about this song. Even if it is a little crazy...I almost never like songs like this. I especially love the ending....while I never personally died to Atma, I had to reset it a lot to get the damned ribbon. Lots of fun memories here. And a great laugh at the end.

THE BAD:
"Weird for the sake of weird" is how I would describe this song. Inserting random sound bytes into a remix does not necessarily make it funny or interesting.
THE GOOD:

This is one of the best remixes I have heard on this site. I don't think the vocal bits are randomly placed at all. The first time I listened to it was late at night so I had it turned down a little in consideration of the child downstairs. When I first heard the manic yelling, I was like, what the-? Then the next day I popped it into my car player and was like, "HAHAHA!! That's Daffy Duck!!" And I could finally hear the whole piece as I would assume it's meant to be - LOUD.
This piece is clever and by all rights original. When you think it's over...ah! Someone sprinkles some Fenix Down and the battle continues!

   There is one thing that disturbed me in this remix. The fact that... I CANT GET ENOUGH OF THAT YELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its so damn insane! PURE INSANITY! AND I FRICKIN CANT GET ENOUGH OF IT!!!!!

"that's it, man....game over, man, game over!!!"
Those words describe the entire piece right there. This work is in your face, backing off only to let you think you can breathe. Then it's right back to the slamming power Mustin puts into this remix.
Reminds me of the first time Atma kicked my butt up around my ears when I first played FF6. Intensity, patience, and a snarling beastie that outweighs most small buildings just waiting to eat you alive.
The sampling on this can be called simply sadistic, like you know you're fighting for your life, you're trying as hard as you can, and you know you're just going to be mincemeat anyway.
The contrast in segments, the timing of it all is superb. I'm going to hunt down more of this man's work!

This is one of the most brilliant remixes I have heard on this site.
The way the Kefka music pops up in the middle is amazing. The sound effects do a great job of capturing the intensity of the Atma battle. It just feels like you are sitting there playing the game. One of my favorites.

I'm not used to hearing voices in music, so when the vocal excerpts popped out, so did my ears. I found it best not to listen to this expecting music, because it's really not music to me... not a song.... it's more of an aural experience. That being said, what an experience it is though.
I love the sax work. Live instruments make my day. And the intensity of the entire track is just insane. Very difficult to capture properly, but done here. Worth the listen... and one or two more after it just to get used to the thing so you can appreciate it.

Fantastic!!!! You kinda wonder what's going on in the beginning, but when the actual song picks up, it all fits and makes sense. A very judicious use of Kefka as well, leading to a great sound. It truly is game over. Man.

A great composition, Mustin has really outdone himself. I love all the sound bites of the Looney Tunes, Aliens and even the Final Fantasy VI sound bites. This is definately an off the wall remix that takes time to listen to as so many others have said here before. Now I don't know if that's a synth sax or what, but it's damn nice sounding. I want to pick up the sax again...and then learn that song. :P Highly recommended.

¿Is everyone else reviewing the same track as me?
Cause all I hear when I listen is appallingly random S***
I mean, it has the potential to be good...I mean, the real instruments are pretty good (for the most part...listening to it again the guitar pretty much sucks when t ad-libs), its just the rest of it that makes my ears bleed.
Like the random screaming, the walls of sound, the lack of any form of coherency whatsoever, the random samples thrown in just to...I dunno, try and be funny or something.
Seriously, words dont exist to explain how God-awful this track is.
You must be mad O.O;
ahem... I first heard this track about four months ago, and what got me was not the use of the instruments but for the use of surprise throughout the track. This has got to be a more favored remix than most of the others than I've heard, if not one of the best in the Final Fantasy 6 collection. :D
"That's it man, game over man, game over!" :P

Yes, it's not very musical. But some people (such as myself) LIKE walls of sound. It really does represent what it's like to play FF6 for 10 hours.

Well, I've had this song for some time, but usually like to consider the "re-listening" value for a while before I comment.
I've found myself jumping to around 1:20 over and over and over again; the guitar segment is extraordinary, and not just recorded off the game or anything like other songs--I also like the FF6 sounds that occur right around it. 3:10ish is another nice spot, although the "explosion" and "oh crap" around 3:20 are so-so (I never really liked the game over music from FF6 anyway.) Like the game resetting, "game over man" segment, Kefka laughs, etc; didn't like the 1:45 trumpet stuff, screaming, weird overlays around the floating continent music, etc. as much. Enormous replay value, and both a great original Uematsu performance and Mustin remix (which is normal for both.)

Agreed. It is, in the end, the spc with a bunch of random sfx. Overall, its hardly music. To me, its kind of like a song which uses nothing but Ejay samples and Ejay drumloops - its not really a remix, or a song; not much of anything. Maybe if the guitar wasnt so horribly off key and didn't sound like a broken car engine...

P.s(please, anyone else that noticed the whole star fox thing post!!!!) You freaking drunk. Thats kefca not Andross. And i do agree that most people might enjoy the song if it didn't have those loneytoons Sounld effects. But if you have played the game for hours on end.(Namely game freaks like me who beat the game 80 times just cause the game rocks)You tend to like the Sounld effects for no appearent reason. I guess They just make me think of the game more. Although the random Loneytoons Sounlds where'nt really nessecary. And the song starting up again at the end is just wreid. But if he stuck with the Sax And the guitar(Which i think is fine) Would have made it a bit more satisfying. I really don't know why yall think the guitar is really all that bazzar. It fits the song. I guess that type of guitar isn't really used often on OCR. Actly after going thourgh my library there is no song with it. Heh....oh well.http://www.geocities.com/shido_lohart/NightwalkerGreed.txt
Sorry, but this remix rubbed me the wrong way. The song is well done, but in my opinion, those sound effects can go rot in a garbage can behind a Jack in the Box.
I realize Mustin was going for originality and craziness, but ehh, just my two cents I suppose.

I really like this remix and think that all of the sound effects add to it. I just love how the Kefka laugh is used.
On a side note: What the heck is so hard about Atma Weapon? I beat him on my first try and only one of my people was knocked out. I wasn't on a really high level either.

Oh come now.
I agree that this song is one of the most horrible things to have ever reached my ears pretty much ever, but thats why I like it. Every time I listen to it, it wakes me up, and puts me in a schizophrenic mood. In a GOOD way. The voices by Daffy Duck just add to the stupid randomness of it all, and it all makes more sense. Well not at all actually, but thats the point now isn't it? Might I add, I believe he was just filling in for Kefka's voice, cuz there arent many sound files with his vocals in it, save the one. So, yeah, this song rocks, just not as a song.

This is chaos. A chaos sandwhich, accompanied by the gooey mayo that is the sax and the mustardness of Daffy Duck.
This is a battle, epic from beginning to end. There is NOTHING calm here, because there is no time for rest when trying to stop a madman. And evil doesn't die off, it simply allows the player to walk away from the system until restarting its reign of terror.
This never ends. This is a symphony, and yet a brick wall of sound... like a angry group of people coming at you all at once. They're not even a mob, because they have no united cause. Their motivation is their own, unconnected and random as the pair of socks they put on.
This is everything, yet nothing. This is on my playlist, and so shall it remain. Good job.

for some reason this makes me think of strapping young lad if devon townsend did video game remixes. SYL's oh my fucking god is similar to this in its sheer wall-of-sound insanity, and there's a bit where someone just yells out of nowhere "NOW GET DOWN THERE AND SUCK MY BUDDY'S [expletive]!" right before the craziest part of the song gets going. and here we have "GAME OVER MAN GAME OVER!" and the craziest part gets going.
that's funny as hell.
i love this song, i usually play it along with SYL'S OMFG and rape song (which is just as nuts as OMFG but in a different way)
and that concludes my very rare post.
im going to go out on a limb and think that the "SYL OMFG" in the above post was in no way related to me.
Anyway, i dug the music, i hated the voice samples.
i agree with eccles and prot.
could have gone somewhere, but, i hate lyrics in general, and these things just STOP the flow of the song, heard it twice, never again.

I heard the first few notes of this, and I'm like, "DUDE! YES! This song was so amazing!" But then that insane screaming came in and nearly made me piss myself. This song is insane, but just a little bit too much so for me. Minus the screaming and that "broken car engine" guitar, this remix owns.

I WANT this to be one of my favorites, I really do. I love the original. I love the intro. I think that the melding of the navigation sounds of the menu screens is cool, and the ending is hilarious. and I definitely love the kefka laugh and the sax. But then, there's the screams, and, at least for me, the daffy duck. His voice just grates on me and they really bring the entire song down from where this song had the potential of being for me :(.

Screams could have been toned down a little but other than that, a very well done mix.
I've actually had the mix for a couple of years now but I never thought of the idea that he used Daffy's voice to represent Kefka. Great idea. Both are certainly insane, and the voice of Daffy is pretty close to what I'd imagined for Kefka anyway.
The menu curser thing was blended well into the song, it fit well. And like almost everyone else has said the aggrivated player added a great touch as well :D

This remix definitely isn't for everyone, but I think those that appreciate it, really and truely appreciate it. I remember being 14 years old in 1994 staying up way past my bedtime, sneaking down to the living room to get in more FF6 around 1:30am, hoping my folks wouldn't wake up.
This remix basically captures that moment in its entirety. For me, it's pure sexual chocolate. Well done.
And yes, I did make it back upstairs unnoticed.

The point of the song isn't in the composition of a lovely ballad - it's a representaiton, it's a reflection of madness, of playing FF6 for hours, and hours, and hours - the screams, the wall of sound, is the frustration, the effects of sleep deprivation. It's not a song as much as it is an auditory experience of something a lot of us have shared.
Of course, I could be nuts, but that's how I see it.

MUSTIN HAS CREATED A MONSTER!!!
AND IT´S SOUNDS LIKE BUGS BUNNY!!!
AAAARRRRRGGGH!!!
OK, nuff funny said. The arrangement was good, I liked those flutes and the strings, and when everythin´ went over to some more crazieness, the techno and thrash metal waltzed in through the back door. That trumpet was quite well, don´t really know what kind of synth you used after that. Nice flutes afterwards, and....I can´t do this anymore, ther´s just TOO MUCH!
Personally, all the sound effects of cartoon figures and Kefka with his weapon of destruction doesn´t really did it fer me. BUT, Mustindude has a point. Remixing mustn´t neccessarily need to be quality stuff with excellent arrangement and all that. He just did this one to do something that noone would have expected(well, almost noone) and surprised with something crazy, wacky, and of course INSANE. Mustin surprised us all, but there are no shame to loose, just listen to this and see for yourself.

Totally insane, crazy remix that jumps genres like trains in the wild west. If that doesn't explain it in detail, then I'll just come out and say this is made of awesome and win. Four or five thumbs up, depending on how many I can find.
This is not the place for such an arguement. However, in casual defense, if you listen past the random (yet funny) sound clips, you'll notice an excellent remix.
I mean, it put (for a moment) a saxaphone to Atma Weapon: The Fierce Battle. What is that, other then awesome?

Personally, I didn't enjoy the remix that much. The random noises and sound clips just aren't my cup of tea.

This remix, while being awesome, scares the HELL out of me. I first heard it while sitting in my room at 2:00 in the morning, and during the song, I had to constantly check behind me to make sure that a monster wasn't in my closet. All of that aside, I absolutely LOVED this song! I'm looking forward to hearing more like this from you!

Confusing, scary, and silly. I played sax in 8th grade and owned...makes me happy to hear it so well in a mix. mixture of old to new works for me. All said and done, i know what it feels like to experience the song in the game. awesome.

Final Fantasy 6 TheAtomizer was the track name or something

I always find this song awesome. It painted a pretty cool visual for me when I listened to it like the third time.

I really liked this when I first came to the site for it being all wacky and crazy.
Now I'm kinda split. It's a pretty basic arrangement at heart that heavily samples from the spc and some sound fx. I wouldn't call the placement of those fx and spc random, but I wouldn't call them well thought out either. On the other hand, it has a nice intense feeling to it, and the guitar and the sax are very cool. It pushes things to the silly extreme in a way that a lot of mixes don't, which I admire. And the ending makes me LOL.
But I guess it hasn't aged as well. There are other remixes that do the "crazy" thing better, I think. But I can't deny that I still enjoy it, call it a guilty pleasure. I would like to see Mustin do a mix like this today, but he doesn't seem to do any of this kind of stuff anymore.
No doubt the curveball samples and draconian nature of The Atomizer are hilarious attractions for a lot of people, myself included. But I also appreciate how calmly interpretive nuances between the insane parts tie the mix's shoelaces and balance it out. Examples:
- orchestral guidance in the beginning
- The Fierce Battle beneath the menu sounds around 1:11
- tambourine's playful accompaniment starting at 1:45
- rapid flute cameos of Kefka's theme at 2:15-2:24
- trumpet-led section at 2:27
- percussion around 3:01+
Mindblowing overall, but also a gold mine of nifty nuggets if you listen closely.
Too much random stuff going on for my tastes. Sorry Mustin ;_;
