When's the new bittorrent release of ocremixes comin? I may be full of shit but wasn't it a great while ago 1000-1500 came out for download? How many mixes has been released after that?

I want the next torrent, who's with me?

There's been.. 40.
It was.. 4 months ago.

ThaSuace used to release 25-track torrents, for a little while at least. An official torrent every 50 or so might not be a bad idea, actually.

Watkinez: okay, okay.. I give up.

Mono: Yeah, every 50 or so would be nice, it's hard to keep track on what songs are new since the 1500 torrent came..

Torrents are released every 500 remixes. It's very easy to find out what's been out since 1500.

Go here. http://www.ocremix.org/remixes/?&offset=0&limit=100&sort=datedesc

OCR 1500 was The Koan of Drums. Everything above it is what was released since that.

Sorry to ask this question, I tried looking around but I couldn't find any information on when a new torrent would be released that would contain the next 500 mp3 remixes. I love the OC Remix music, but I hate having to go by each individual song and download it - it's very convenient to just be able to do a mass torrent download of all the songs. So, I was curious if there was an estimate on when the next torrent pack would be released. The current two seem to have been out for quite some time now, so I thought that perhaps the new torrent would be released soon. I also realize that there are other torrents out there for specific compilations, but I'm talking about being able to get another massive 500+ songs from various games added to my music library.

Thanks for any kind of response! :)

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if there was any word on when a new torrent for the remixes up through 1800 is gonna show up? It's been a while since 1001-1700 got released and I was just curious if we could look forward to a new one soon or if I should resign myself to downloading the songs one at a time. So yeah, any info would be great! And yes, I searched before posting, but if I missed some relevant info, please forgive me. :<

I was wondering that very thing not 2 weeks ago. I just donwloaded em all manually, took me an hour. I'll put together a 1701-1800 torrent here, hang tight.

The Biznut

Thats right.

Two weeks ago I manually downloaded the latest 120 OCRemixes to stock up a fresh ipod for a 17hour round trip drive, the whole time wondering why there wasn't a torrent yet. DJMetal asked the same question.

Your answer is here (http://www.box.net/shared/s2tj645jxb). I think 1 mix might be missing, sincere apologies if this is the case. To make up for it, I will find a prize and mail it to the first person who can PM me with the name of the missing mix, or verify that everything is as it should be. How fun is that? Cue random prize potential music!

If someone wants to add this torrent to the actual OCRemix torrents section, that would be helpful for the community. I'm assuming thats a job for an OCR admin.

Please Seed, this may be in high demand.

Enjoy! Thanks to everyone who contributed in the last year or so!

I suppose this is what happens when we sit on our asses too long; I do appreciate the sentiment & work involved, but we manage our own torrent releases and our tracker only tracks our own, internally managed torrents. I'm closing this thread... I'd prefer the torrent be removed, but whatever - I'll try and make sure we do our own 1000-1850 torrent this weekend.

Dave locked the other thread, might as well lock this too.

OCR manages its own torrents.

Hey, I've just registered to ask this question, but I may stick around- it's an awesome place.... I'm pretty new to the remix community, but I plan to stick around and try my hand at it myself.

Anyways, I just downloaded the two torrents of everything, (partly since it's awesome music, and partly to study how to do it myself), and I'm wondering (and maybe the information's here somewhere, I'm just missing it) when the second torrent is current to?

Basically, I just want to make sure I have everything, and I don't know how long ago I need to start searching.

Thanks!

well if you've grabbed the 1-1000 and 1001-1900 torrents, if you'll look on the front page, 1900 (Vectorman "Overflow") is still on there so all of the mixes since then are still on the front page.

why yes, I love run-on sentences, why do you ask

swjm
10-08-2009, 02:42 AM
Alrighty, thanks! I'll get up to date!

What's with the discrepancy in the numbers, then? The remix section says 1771 songs... are the other 129 just on albums and such, and not counted?

Gollgagh
10-08-2009, 02:47 AM
no, those are songs that were re-evaluated after having been on the site some time, and determined that they shouldn't have made it onto the site in the first place

despite that, numbers were not reassigned, so that's how you have missing numbers

if you're still interested in them, there's a collection of a decent amount (I don't think we have all of them) here: http://www.doulifee.com/Storage/OC_Removed/

I was wondering how current the 2 main torrents take you. I apologize if this has been asked before I searched the fourms the best I could but couldn't find a solid answer beyond that its past August sometime :)

Anywho, does anyone happen to know what date would most recent addition to the torrent? Also I checked a few albums and they dont appear in there is this normal for all Albums?

KyleJCrb

The two torrents will take you up to remix 1900, which was posted on September 4th. The site just posted #1939 a few days ago, so you'll only have to grab 39 songs to complete your collection.

Albums have their own torrents, so they are not included in the main two.

A complete update to the archive torrent with correct tagging for all mixes is underway. It has taken the backseat to other stuff but Larry's tagging away. This update will probably be pretty much all tracks up to the date it's released.

Recently my wife let I-tunes handle my music library, for most of the non-ORC music it's ok, but, it put all my OCR music in a folder named "http://ocremix.org" This caused many other programs to barf. Windows no longer considers this a folder and will not let me access the data (it think it's a GIANT URL link) renaming the folder to a non-url (OCR) did not fix the issue and and all I could do is delete the file. (I'm not gonna pay for a file recovery to get all the near 1800 files as a free one can't get but a hundred or so)

I'm was also behind on the songs by a few hundred, and was hoping to just DL via the torrent. any idea on when it'll be updated, or should I just start the torrent and hammer the bandwidth of the various hosting sites for the almost 300 not in the torrents? (torrents stop at 1900, last song numbered at 2186)

Edit: If I sound mean, I've just been in the middle of re-sorting my library so other programs (like win 7 media sharing) can work with it sanely.

Interesting. Can anyone else detail that issue? Given what happened, I'm surprised that 1. iTunes did that in the first place (programmed an invalid directory), and 2. No one else has brought that up before. Not implying it's untrue, just surprised this is the first I've heard of it.

You don't sound mean. It'll be several months before the torrent's updated, because the plan is to re-release all of the mixes, including the older stuff, with proper tagging (detailed here (http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=20433) & here). There's no point in updating a torrent only to replace it relatively soon after (resulting in losing all the seeders). So you can grab the current torrent and single mixes, or just wait it out for the updated versions of everything.

Honestly the issue would not have happened to me if I had not let my wife sit at the system. I prefer to organize them myself because I have several programs accessing the same libraries.

I knew about the ID3 tag update, but was not sure if it was still going.

I'll have to start a VM when I get back home and break it again to see which version of windows this happens in. But she let i-Tunes organize the music and it puts all the OCR into a folder named after the album, which broke the files.

I'm gonna wait till the torrents are updated, I'ed rather have the updates ID3 tagging.

That's really odd. You'd think iTunes would be smart enough to not use special characters in album names when creating directories.

iTunes also jipped me of Mass Media Constant when I bought it, it charged, said it downloaded, but my files were gone. Just gone. And they have a 1 download only policy.
(cool thing is, zircon emailed a download to me within 5 seconds of telling him)

It's generally bad software all around, I'm not surprised it frukked up on organization. :P

Hello OCR! I'm a big fan of the high quality remixes featured on this site, and am impressed with the musical talent that comprises its userbase. That being said, I feel like it has been some time since the OCR1000-1900 torrent was put up... is there any way of finding out how close we are to receiving the next hundred remixes?

I know that not all submitted remixes end up in the torrents, so I don't think I can just tally how many have submitted since the last torrent went up. This matters to me because I've exercised a lot of self-restraint in not downloading all the new mixes I've seen submitted so I can save the site bandwidth via torrenting. Thank you for any information or estimates, and have a pleasant day! I apologize if this is the incorrect subforum for this question.

Download from iiens.net. It's provided at no cost to OCReMix (as far as I am aware) and will not impact the bandwidth costs of the site itself.

I have been asked to provide an OCR collection for the Spinning Stream: Nintendo Music Radio, and was wondering if anyone could give me a .torrent file with the remixes starting after OCR 1900.

If that's not an option, then a complete listing of all OCR tracks would be appreciated

Hey, OCR folk!

Just a quick question: When will the OCR Torrents be updated to include new remixes since 01900 came out? Other than what's come out on albums, I don't have anything in my OCR collection since then, and I know how much you don't want us to use HTTP to download mass amounts of tracks.

Please and thanks,

Hey Guys,

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I had an idea to run by the fine people who run the site.

As a long time fan and supporter (10 years! wow...) I just want to say thanks for keeping this place not only running, but always improving. So my suggestion below is only along those lines and by no means is a complaint!

With a lot of releases over the course of a month/year, and somewhat randomly at that, it can be difficult to keep up (especially for those, like myself, that are completionists and download every OCR release ). I have been using RSS to grab new releases one at a time, but that can be tedious sometimes...

How feasible would it be to have a monthly torrent to capture all the releases from the month and make it easier to stay current? I really don't know how much trouble it is to set something like that up, but since very OCR album gets the torrent treatment maybe it's doable?

One con I can think of, that may be why it's not been done, is that it may lessen the incentive to come to the site, read the remix post announcement, etc, but then again, those who are interested will come by anyway.

Thoughts?

In any case, thanks for the consideration!

Cheers,
PhoenixWrightEF

There might be one or two releases every 3 or 4 days, so on average there might be 10 new mixes each month. To make a torrent every month just to update 10 songs might be time better spent on other projects.

Yeah, I hear that, which is why I was posing it as "how feasible" because I really don't know how much work it takes to setup a torrent.

According to my RSS feed there were 20 releases in January... I'd rather only have to go to one place to download all 20 in one click than to have to open all 20 pages and go to the Download tab, right-click save-as, etc. It's kinda like wanting the option to download an entire album instead of just 1 track at a time, even if it's just 10 tracks. Most music sites let you do this, that's all I'm getting at.

Mirby
02-03-2012, 06:23 PM
Yeah, well they're working on updating the mass torrents right now anyways, so if this were to happen, you'd have to wait until the full torrents are up.

Liontamer
02-03-2012, 06:27 PM
Nah, the point of torrents is to seed big groups of files in perpetuity; there's no practical reason to do small, monthly batches as torrents. We've held off on torrent updates because of my massive project (http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=20433), but when we're back in the swing of things, we'd be updating once per 100 mixes.

At some point, I may use RapidShare or some other Megaupload-ish service to do what you're asking, only with no torrent, just a direct, but straightforward batch download. Or someone else with more time can take up the cause! :-)
