OC ReMix Logo?

This is going to sound a bit weird, but I was wondering if anyone had a high quality copy of the OC Remix logo? Just a nice, plain flat one like on the t-shirts. I want to use it for the album art in iTunes for all of my downloads for the site so that I can at a glance know what I'm listening to and further appreciate the beauty that is Overclocked Remix. ^_^

So, if anyone has that, or could email it to me that'd be great!

Actually, for that matter, what kind of resources are there for members here that want to OCR-up their stuff? Besides the hoodies and such, stuff like Winamp skins, OCR wallpaper, forum skins (I think there's a few out there) and other stuff like that. I know most of it would be fan-made, not "official" in the sense. But there must be quite a lot out there by now.

Yeah, I'm loving my dogtags. Did anybody get any information from the people who were doing the engraving at MAGFest? They were awesome, both at what they did and in general. Really nice folks.

As for the logo, you might save the image, then crop it in photoshop or something. Not sure how effective that would be, but it's an idea.

Rama's made OCR Winamp skins, OCR wallpapers, and OCR album art (not to mention the Stylish skins and things of that nature) so he's definitely the guy to ask. Even made an OCR X-Box media player skin thing a while back if I recall.

Um, why does it have to be high-res? If it is just to have some sort of album art displayed on your mp3 player's screen, the logo from the site is more than enough for that, IMHO. I would just cutout the snes pad with the headphones and write "overclocked remix" using a similar font.

So, I've been working on the reference image, even I can't duplicate the OCR Logo like DJP did, but the mask SHOULD help. I was able to make THIS with relative ease using it:

I've actually wished on several occasions that we had a nice downloadable folder with a collection of OCR site art. The headphone/controller combo, the site name, the soundwaves behind the katakana, the silver bar thing behind it all ... all as one big downloadable kit that we could use to OCR-ify anything we wanted. I've seen other sites do this sort of thing (usually musician homepages trying to use their fans to generate more publicity).

This is cropped from the full resolution image I'm working on. Still a WIP, as I'm still doing detail work on the headbands. Of course, it might be easier to know what exact kind of headphones djp used for the logo to begin with. Then it would be just a matter of finding reference photos to look at, if any.

Hate to be a spoilsport here, but I disagree with the democratic distribution of logo files to the populous for uses of their own discretion. Given OCR's recent moves into the more public realms and its rise in exposure, the control of the brand becomes of critical importance. Maybe if someone offers a specific utilisation or piece to be made, then it may be given away at discretion, but brand is a very powerful entity, and one that I can see OverClocked ReMix further developing and evolving. It can become a powerful entity in support of the site and its ideals. It needs to be kept in control of those who will most determine its use.


Of course, this is all djpretzel's decision, but potential brand erosion or weakening [not saying anyone will do anything bad, but the chance looms nevertheless] will not help the image of OverClocked ReMIx as it continues to grow and evolve.

No no, that's not necessarily what I meant, Larry. By all means, allow and encourage community participation in such matters as potential marketing campaigns, whatever else people come up with, etc. Handing out the logo liberally as some have suggested is what I was more commenting on, as that could lead to potential misuse of identity standards and a dilution of brand that has already become well established by the actions and steps that OverClocked ReMix has already taken in regards to the gaming and game music community at-large.

I've got a couple album designs I was going to try my hand at, I'll see if I can get you a sketch of the designs.
In the meantime, I thought it would be cool if you were to take those OCRemix album arts and, instead of a white background, make the background a screenshot or artwork of the game (Like Metroid, for instance) with the title of the game in there somewhere. The hard part would be keeping the transparent headphone in the background, but it would look cool.

five years ago or so and I actually cared that album art matched when the song came up on musicmatch jukebox or some other ancient crap, I went through the trouble of finding a screencap from the game. those aren't hard to find and are applicable when you have 2,000 video game remixes and half of them aren't OCR. so if you have all the time in the world like I did, there's an even better solution than some ridiculous high def .png file.

Because if they're not large enough/not high quality, you get an ugly, small, pixelated image. Putting in more white space just makes it worse. I have an iPod Touch which has a larger screen than the iPod Video and iPod Nano so it needs good images for them to look nice. I don't get why there can't be a really large (even 300x300 or 400x400 pixels) OC ReMix logo. Look at how large Kong in Concert, Chrono Symphonic, and Final Fantasy: Voices of the Lifestream's album covers are.

In terms of why we need high-resolution album art: Cover Flow.

Also, when I play my music on my Apple TV, it puts the album art REALLY BIG on the screen. I don't want my OC Remixes to look janky compared to the art I have for other albums.

Alright, I have some ideas for album art but without the original controller/headphone PSD, I don't think its gonna turn out good. I tried remaking the controller myself, but I couldn't get it anywhere near the same. Take a peek and let me know if any of my fellow Photoshoppers have any ideas.

I made everything (except the text) from scratch so its not gonna look exactly right. Don't harp on me about it.
Without the original layer styles, I dont think im gonna be able to get the text or the controller to look exactly right.

Those are kick-ass! The only issue is if you add album art to MP3s you can't seed them in the torrent if I'm not mistaken since you're altering the files tags. :/

I like this one. I still wish it was a little crisper but this is a whole lot better than nothing. I may still try to make an album cover but this will do for now.

We could figure out a way to include a file called AlbumArt.jpg into the folder. It's pretty easy to add album art to things in WMP and iTunes that way (copy->paste as album art). iTunes actually stores it in some other location, and WMP is schizophrenic about what it does.

These are all amazing...I just wish they weren't quite so pixelated.

I particularly like the one you did. I just feel like it has a better composition. If you could somehow vector-trace it to smooth it out a little, I would so totally buy you a cookie.

For now, though, that's definitely at the top of my list for what to use.

iTunes sadly does both, at least it does alter the mp3 and it keeps your torrent client from seeding it. But hey, we want the songs to be pretty too right? :D

After seeing the album art on some of the remixes that ive download'd recently i decided to make a new one with better quality. I wasn't to hard, all i did was take the design of i think it was the tshirt and modified it to make it look like the other one.

You'd think that with all the people requesting, making and discussing OCR album art, that there'd be some sort of "official" effort in that direction. Hell, if you look through all the album art for the albums that OCR releases (like VotL), as well as some of the artwork that previous attempts have yielded (like that in this very thread), its obvious that this community has more than enough talent to get something more than respectable as a "default" album art for OCR songs. It doesn't have to be any flash, but I think OCR should bring out some designs, or maybe just hold (another) compo to get some designs.

I lifted Xac's earphone/controller combination and vectorized it with a bunch of controllers. There aren't words because photoshop decided to die on me, and words in Paint Shop just aren't the same. Well than if I can't have it, has anyone made a general album cover for all the remixes on the site yet? Because that's what I was planning on doing with it.

Sad truth is, you can get it with google chrome.

Touchups are going to have to be done by your self for a higher-res shot.

We have general album art by djpretzel, but it's still not 100% final, so I won't be giving it out. But eventually, it'll be out there.
