I'll soon have $150 to spend on an MP3 player. Preferrably flash-based to avoid skipping. Anyone have opinions on certain MP3 players they'd like to share? And, uh, can these things play .m3u or other playlist files?

iPod Nano. Or shuffle, if you don't care what order the songs play in, but I think that's crazy. Or you could always run around on eBay and find a 20 gig iPod for around that price.

The best in that price range would be (not in any particular order, just a list):

-iRiver Clix
-Samsung YP-T9 or YP-Z5
-Apple iPod Nano
-Creative Zen V Plus
-SanDisk Sansa Rhapsody

I'd be happy with any of these.

I would vouch for the Creative Labs line. I had one, and aside from the fact it was too iPod like in functionality (and the damn buttons stopped working one morning), it was a very nice player. The sound quality was a lot better than the iPod I also had was. And not only are they usually cheaper than the comparative iPod player, they're also more readily available in stores.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Once my debtor gets his paycheck I'll actually have the option to buy one of these suckers.

yeah, i have a nomad, and its pretty good, just the battery life is bad, but i've used it for a year and a half now. looking for a replacement mostly because 40 gb doesnt cut it anymore for me.

Tell me about it. I need an 80 gig (or more) one, but the only ones available are either iPods or really shitty "media" players that are bigger than an old GameBoy.

I'm considering one of these. (http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Catalog(1166)-SanDisk_Sansa_e200_Series_MP3_Players.aspx)

At a loss as to which size to choose, as while I have around 15Gb of music, I don't think I really listen to all of it. Maybe one of these days I'll have to copy just what I listen to into another folder and see how big it is. Buying a nicer pair of headphones might be a worthier investment than going that extra two or four gigs.

I'm probably just gonna go with the 4Gb model. $180, and after completely combed my music collection I only found a maximum of 3.18Gb that I'd actually wanna listen to on the go, and that's assuming I'll keep all the complete albums I plan to throw on it, which I don't think I will.

If worst comes to worst, I can always buy a Mini-SD card to expand it. :3

Now to figure out how to keep my playlists or figure out a way to easily make custom (not just a single folder) playlists for it.
