Well done Richter and everyone else involved. Now that's what I call determination (mostly stubborness, but there's determination in there as well).

I'm downloading it now.

Just as a side note, I realise my tracks aren't quite as awesome as the others, but yeah. I hope you all still enjoy them :)

Awesome...it's completely mind blowing. Congratulations and great job!

Also, it's about time someone took my request from a year ago and remixed the end theme from Sonic 2 :D

One year later, my request is granted, haha...

Nice job to all of you.

Now we need a NWG with a Sonic theme to top it off.

Congrats to you all for completing the project. You gave it your all, even though you thought that you would never complete it on time. But you never gave up, and that's what counts the most. So, once again, congratulations on completing the project.

8O I didn't realise I actually got credited for the Emerald Hill mix ... I haven't actually heard it since Nesper's first spin on it

We ended up finishing the project, then? Neat-o. I'll drag my sorry ass onto my torrenting machine later.

I also wonder how it's possible I got 3 different spellings of my screen name throughout the site and on the IDv3 tag, but I'll just leave that to speculation rather than whine about it. ... Oh.

Download crawling along at a mere 6 KB per second... lovely... and they call it 'high speed internet'...

Well, now the 'complete package' of my artwork is available. I realize that some of the text on the inside cover may not correspond to the text currently on the site, but all I had to go by at the time was the WIP site, which was constantly being updated by Richter.

I just noticed the OC Remix home page:
http://www.ocremix.org/images/hhlogo.jpg
Pretty sweet that they used my cover art!! If they asked, I could have completly removed the background for them, but they did a pretty darn good job considering they only had access to the PNGs and JPGs on the site. (who are *THEY*, anyway?)

It's pretty cool to at least have my name on the Hedgehog Heaven site... now, if only I submitted a remix...

Sir_NutS

heh, I downloaded the torrent and I must say I'm glad, because its better than what I expected.
My personal favorites (in no particular order):

Snyderman - Chemical Reaction
Sadorf - aquatic project
Jayson Litrio - Hill Top Heaven
Analoq - Oil Spill
Analoq - Next My generation
Hadyn - Travelling Through a Dream
Blak Omen - SuperSonic Ska
Jonathon Striker - Casino Jazz Club
Richter - Radio Reluts (LMAO that was helluva fun!)

I liked how there was a good mixture of diferent genres, although I think that the jazzy and funky songs prevailed. hell, even my song has some touches of jazz. Anyways, this was nice. And again , Nice Work.

Ah, my first post on the OCR forum. Better make it a decent one.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 remains one of my all-time favorite games. I remember fondly of the catchy tunes, of the difficult bonus stages (I suck almost just as bad at them now as I did when I played it to death at age 7. I don't believe I've ever successfully beaten them all in one sitting), of the crazy-fast levels, and the hard-as-hell final boss (I get hit once and DIE? WTF!?).
It's right up there with Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (and Knuckles), which I ALSO played to death with my younger brother. (Imagine that...)

Anyway, I just finished downloading the torrent, and I must say I am VERY pleased with the project. I was not even aware that it in fact EXISTED, and was being worked on, not until an hour ago! I came to the site not even two weeks ago (after someone linked me to a track from Kong in Koncert, I fell in love) and followed it to this site. I just came on today and saw that a new project was finished. Lucky me. Like getting a gift without the wait or anticipation. It feels good.

I just wish I could get a nice CD case, a CD-art printing program, the respective stickers and printing paper and such to make this lovely package complete. Such an excellent album being put on to a plain white CD-R, held by a simple neon-colored jewel case from a set bought in bulk is by no means just. :(

It is ReMixes like the ones on this "CD" that will have me coming back for more, for a very long while.

Now back to enjoying the fruits of this project and downloading the last 20% of the 501-1000 torrent. This is taking way longer than it should, I think. I wish I knew how to make it go faster than 6Kb/s. Oh well. At least I have ReMixes 1-500 and Hedgehog Heaven to ease the pain of wait.

Excellent job, guys. My Soapbox shoes are off to you!

Wow...I thought this project died, along with so many of the other ones that were started after the release of Relics of the Chozo/Kong in Concert. Very nice job, guys!

I've had all of analoqs tracks from this project for awhile, and I say that they're my favorites (But wait; wasn't Next My Generation originally the title for sonik caves? Why the switch? NMG definitely fit the Caves track better, as far as titles go). NutS and sadorf did nice tracks as well, and I'm impressed by Aeolius, skullkrusha, nesper, DCT, and Richters efforts. I wouldn't say that this project is as strong as the excellent Kong In Concert, but it's awesome to hear the entire Sonic 2 soundtrack given this treatment. You've all done great justice to this brilliant soundtrack, and I salute you. :)

Glad you liked my mix NutS - yours is rocking too :D

My list of favs is pretty similar to yours, only I loved all three of Analoqs mixes, and I thought a few other tracks were pretty awesome too. In-fact, all the tracks are a pretty awesome quality - though there are some small things with a few of them, like Icy Guy's mix is great, but needs a slightly faster tempo IMO, and Snyderman's almost seems too fast - still awesome tracks though.

Great work all around guys!

Just as a side note, I realise my tracks aren't quite as awesome as the others, but yeah. I hope you all still enjoy them :)Ditto for me. Though Hadyn, I must say I disagree. Yours kick teh ass. But next to analoq I guess we all sound like garbage ;)

So yeah one last slip-up for Hedgehog Heaven. The tracklist has been up here forever, so any inconsistencies there really should have been handled a while ago. However, the posting of the wrong track on OCR is just plain retardation on my part. Caught up in the heat of the release, I only read part of analoq's message and posted the wrong track. So, my apologies. Lucky for us all three of his tracks are stellar and easily OCR quality.

There will be no torrent for the cd art. Please let me know of any site or other issues.

Thank you everybody!

I just finished printing my album art, and it turned out better than expected! My crappy HP printer usually results in very washed-out blurry printouts, but for some reason it liked these labels. It's the first time in a long time the printout looked better than it did onscreen...

Thanks again to Icy Guy for the 'Sonic 2 Menus' font.

And to the mixers and everyone else involed... thanks for taking the time to create this wonderful project. I honestly didn't know what to expect when I started playing this album. Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised! Spectacular work!!

yeah I enjoy your track quite a bunch, and all those tracks I mentioned too. I love the mixing of squarewave sounds that sound so old school with more professional sounding stuff, kinda like what Doragon does. I must say that, although I think that the quality is not too high as KiC, this mixes are pure fun, and thats what makes me want to listen to them again :)

I must say that this project was very successful, after listening to it. Although there was one track that I had been looking forward to the most. But... I was disappointed. I expected alot more, or atleast something very different in that track. But my general opinion of the project, is very positive.

Great work, all of you.

So I tried to restrain myself until I got the last track (I'm a 56Ker... This happens...), but unfortunately I cannot.

I'm currently up to Next My Generation, and I must say: I LOVE this collection. I can't say 'all of it' yet, but if it keeps up with the quality, I will most definetely be quite gidddy, even more so than I am now (which trust me, if you knew how giddy I was, you'd think that impossible).

It's far better than I had hoped, and every minute I waited (especially the past few days) for the past year or so has all been worth it.

Good work guys. All of you. You too Jeff, you made some kickass CD Art. :D

'Bout freakin' time. Wait, what am I saying; I got the tracks early. Congratulations to all of the remixers who were involved in the project, and to everyone else along the way. Hopefully in the next porject (whatever one that will be :P ) I can join, seeing how when this one was around I was still a n00b at remixing.

And to every single one of you who was bitching and moaning for the project to come out, you should undergo a sex change and bear Richter's children. It's people like him that keep things like these on their feet, no matter how grim the situation. He stuck through til the end, and for that, I applaud.

Yeah, my track isn't the best, but I'm damn proud of it. It's my first project song released. I'm tearing up. I'm so porud of every one of you mixers... you made your momma proud. Did I say momma... I mean daddy or some masculine noun. MY favorite trackon the project is "Oil Spill". Holy crap is that a nostalgia inducing song.

I know this is going to sound realy dumb but how did you print out everything? (Via word or-?) Not a dumb question at all!
Let's see...

For the CD itself, I used Adaptec Jewel Case Creator 1.02 (included with Easy CD Creator 4). I printed the CD on Fellows/Neato CD/DVD Labels (Matte Photo Quality CD Labels (2-up) with core and spine labels)

For the front, back, and everything else BUT the CD I used Nero Cover Designer 2.3 (included with Nero 6). I printed on Epson Glossy Photo Paper.

Make sure you set the quality and paper settings on your printer. Also, do a test print on low quality and normal paper. You don't want to ruin a sheet of glossy or CD label-sticker-paper. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Wow. That's all I can say. Every single remix was nothing short of incredible. This is some fantastic stuff that's great for listening to on the go.

There is one thing I would like to ask though. The mp3s seem to suffer from a fluctuating bitrate, and every time that's been on mp3s for me in the past, it makes them sound...odd when they're burned for my personal use. Am I the only one? Just wondering.

That would be because they are encoded as VBR (variable bitrate). I've never had any problems burning VBR mp3s, but I don't speak for everyone.

Since I've had so many requests/suggestions for a Sonic 3 & Knuckles project, let me express my stance here...

I will not be running such a project. Don't get me wrong, I had a BLAST managing HH, and may do something similar again at some point in the future. Those two games together have a total of 47 tracks (correct me if I'm wrong). That's QUITE an endeavor, and really not something I'm willing to tackle right now. Rather I'll be spending my time relaxing and improving my mixing skills. Oh and school and work and all that. Heh. ;)

I wish the best of luck to anyone that is thinking about managing a new project. But, at the risk of sounding egotistical and/or patronizing, allow me to give a few suggestions... I've learned a lot in the last year and a half, most of it the hard way. So why not at least take some pointers?

Get out in the community: Know mixers, know LOTS of mixers. Be an active, avid, well-known member of the community. Hell, maybe even be popular (this one really would've helped HH NOT take so long) :P If you're known, your chances of succeeding and getting people to help out are much better.

Line up mixers beforehand: Maybe around 30% of your tracks or so should be lined up before you even post a thread or solidify your plans. This will give you a great place to start and let others know that you're serious and have already taken measures to finish the project.

Have a plan: How long will it take? Are you doing all the tracks? Who's doing site design? Where can we host WIPs? Can we post them in WIP forums? Are collaborations allowed? What if two separate remixers do the same track? Are we blending tracks? What order are they in? Do you intend for this to be an official OCR site project (and does djpretzel approve?)?

LOTS of questions arise. Some need to be answered down the road, but for the most part, this should ALL be taken care of before you launch the idea to the public. Basically, get your shit together ;)

Have the OST available: This is absolutely necessary. Usually people remix tracks because they know it and love it, but sometimes, especially with remix projects, folks may not know the source material at all. Preferably in mp3 format or nsf or something that sounds like the original... MIDI is ok, but it's not always 100% faithful.

Keep a Change Log: You need to know when what happened. When somebody signed up, when they dropped out, when certain milestones were achieved, etc etc. That is one of my biggest regrets about HH is I kept no change log. That would have been SO HELPFUL and interesting to see at the end.

Read the ENTIRE history threads for other projects: Do it, you'll learn a lot.

Be prepared to be there: Projects are a lot of work, but even if all you're going to do is manage, delegate, coordinate, all that stuff, you still must be readily available and consistently present to take care of tasks and issues that arise. Showing up once or twice a week isn't going to cut it. For example, if it takes a year (which realistically, it shouldn't... heh... ) are you going to be there the entire time?

Please keep in mind these are just my opinions/suggestions and that I'm not the best example to go by. This project didn't run smoothly, and many (most) of the problems were my own direct fault. If you'd like more pointers, I'm sure Digital Coma and/or Protricity would be happy (?) to answer questions. Mythril Nazgul is also currently running The Dark Side of Phobos (very cool), and is a super nice guy that I'm sure would offer pointers if asked.

Heh, sorry for the long post.. thanks for reading. I just love projects like this, and want to help out if I can. I wish the best of luck to the next one! On a side note, I would personally recommend waiting for a while before starting the next project. Check this board -- there are several in progress right now. People can't care about everything, there's just not enough time, and a lot of resources are being spent on those projects right now.

Thanks again :D

A big soundtrack doesn't really means a BIG project. There could be only some tracks remixed. Its a tribute after all, and it could be a tribute to the best of S&K.
but anyways, I understand you've had enough of this for now heh, but this kinda things are always fun and keeps me busy (And with pressure to actually FINISH the stuff). And S&K soundtrack is pretty tight stuff too. I think that with the experience you've obtained from the long process, your next project will be much more organized and constant.

Someone should sticky this.

I was just thinking that if the S3 + K project were to become a reality it may be easier to have 2 project managers. One for S3 and one for S+K then have them both come together in the end. It would be easier to manage between 2 people (that have a relatively good relationship) rather than all 47 or so under one umbrella (brolly for you English folk).

I'd be a lot more enthusiastic to work on the S3K project over the S2 one. The tracks, to me, are just more memorable.

Also scratch Ice Cap, or have a guy saying "Insert Ice Cap Theme Here" and people can pick their favorite and burn it in with the other tracks.

I'd be up for remixing a track from Sonic 3 & Knuckles (perhaps Hydrocity Zone Act 2, which is my favorite). It'd be great if this project started rollin' in the summer (since I'd have time to actually commit), but that seems too soon. Well, who knows? :)

Anyway, back to what this thread is about, Hedgehog Heaven! Nice job Richter! I'm glad you didn't let this project die. :) The remixers did a great job; this a very fun album to listen to.

Oh man, I had no idea this had gone up. Crazy.

Heh, I must say, I'm not particularly proud of the track I made. I'd been meaning to get back to it, but no big deal. Regardless, it's called "Sonikku Ganbatte!", not "Ganbattle". Someone might want to fix that somewhere. Also, I prefer to go by afish over mario. Whatever, I'm downloading the torrent right now, can't wait to give it a listen. Glad to see it's come to fruition. Speed in KB/sec: 1.5, 1.6, 1.5, 1.4...
That's life

is anyone else having problems with the torrent? i've got 72MB downloaded, but only 40MB is actually being counted towards the total because of a seemingly endless number of bad hashes on pieces that then have to be re-downloaded.

Are there misspellings of the titles, or is it just my dl of the torrent? There was an "l" missing from mario's "Sonikku Ganbattle!" and "Apocalyptic" was misspelled in Aeolius's song, "Apocalyptic Orbital Ovum."

Indeed. Let's see... S&K doesn't have too many tracks...

01 Titles
02 Angel Island
03 Hydrocity
04 Marble Garden
05 Carnival Night
06 Ice Cap (everyone's favorite)
07 Launch Base
08 Mushroom Hill
09 Flying Battery
10 Sandopolis
11 Lava Reef
12 Hidden Palace (a very different version of Lava Reef)
13 Sky Sanctuary
14 Death Egg

Those are the only stages. Then there are 5 races (like Azure Lake and Chrome Gadget), plus 2 menus, and some scattered themes. It works out to perhaps 25 tracks.

As a newbie, I'm excited to witness the start of a project (I'm all up for it :D), but we should let Richter and everybody take a big breath after over a year of hard work now paid off. Congratulations everybody, Hedgehog Heaven kicks ass.

Nah. The 'l' was never supposed to be there, if you read his post a page or two up.

14 Death Egg
15 Doomsday

14 zones, 5 races, main title/invincible, menu, race results, 3 bonus stages, special stage, Knuckles' theme, 3 boss themes, Sonic 3 credits.

That should be everything. 31 total, but the bonus stages could be mixed into one track, and race results isn't exactly important (or nearly as catchy as its Sonic 2 counterpart).

This could be done, with better initial management than HH and a little cooldown time. Good luck to anyone crazy enough to try and pull one together. :P

Wow thanks, that means a lot, seriously....
The problem with aquatic ruins is the fact that the original is just plain crap, making it not crap means adding lots of original material to it...didnt wanna, but with how i was writing it, i didn't have much of a choice

AS FOR A SONIC 3&K PROJECT....

i will give it a nice semi big HEEEEELL NO!

I am quite sick of sonic mixing, if i gonna mix any more sonic music, its gonna be on my terms not anyone elses. I picked aquatic ruins in HH cause i already had it started...OH BUT GUESS WHAT? it was shit...just pure shit...sooo started over about TWELVE times to get what you hear now.

So thats my thoughts on it all, call me an asshole if u want, i dont care, ive had enough, no more projects for me.

"Yeah, I recorded it all in one take using just Cubase and my Yamaha Motif..."

Richter, that was great. :)

Although I have no remixes, I'm feel I'm enough of a musician to offer a track for an S3&K project.

But too much Sonic mixing is going to make people sick as Sadorf says. I say wait until either Rise of the Star or Dark Side of Phobos (or both) comes out before gearing up for another project. I don't think that projects are "the future" of game music rearrangement. They're just fun, provided the mixers go into it full bore and produce high-quality music like that of HH. I wasn't even involved, and I even feel a little tired just by association. If S3&K is really going to happen properly, let the whole of OCR take a break from Sonic. Blah blah blah...

Yeah, a lot of sonic music is somewhat 'weird' with progressions, chords and melodies, which can make it a bit difficult to re-interpret.

oook

http://www.zophar.net/gym/sonic2.rar

And i was asked awhile back by richter if i wanted to release WIPS and stuff....and for me i think its a good idea..since i had so many of them heh

The first one:
ftp://66.221.70.133/sadorf/Sadorf_-_Aquatic_Ruins_Final.mp3
It was started waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before this project even existed...and before i knew what i was really doing... the intro?....someone pointed out to me long ago that sounded like korn...wasnt intentional...but doesnt matter, it was scrapped for the next thing..

This one:
http://66.221.70.133/sadorf/Sonic2/AquaticRuins2Demo1.mp3
Never got past the first demo, i was tryin to hard to use what i had in the first one combining it with some other crap i dont exacty remember...

Now THIS one....
http://66.221.70.133/sadorf/Sonic2/S2_AquaticProjectDemo1.mp3
Is sorta the beginning of the FINAL on the project, i still didnt know how i was gonna do the melodies or anything, so it was just basicly me trying to force ideas into my head. Well not long after some ideas did come slowly and i continued to work on it...
http://66.221.70.133/sadorf/Sonic2/S2_AquaticProjectDemo2.mp3
http://66.221.70.133/sadorf/Sonic2/S2_AquaticProjectDemo3.mp3
etc....i will get back to that shortly

This next one, I am not exactly sure what i was going for, but i did decide this is the last version i was gonna TRY to write..as the filename will say..
http://66.221.70.133/sadorf/Sonic2/AquaticFINAL8.mp3
im not gonna link to all the demos, cause well...dont wanna! but you can all goto http://66.221.70.133/sadorf/Sonic2/ and get everything done...including a rough robotnik demo or two... But yeah, after playing with that so called FINAL thing awhile...i just decided that i wasnt going to be able to get it to sound how i wanted..that and i ran out of ideas reaaaaally fast.

Iīm a bit dissapointed about the project. Itīs been a long and hard work, and Iīve been waiting for it for several months (Sonic 2 is still on my top 5), but all the tracks are very different from the originals and not very recognizable. Thatīs why I think the only really good ones are the ending song and Casino Night.

You don't recognise any of the themes other than those two?

Heh, you might want to have your head checked or something.

Of course I recognise them, but I would have liked them to stick more to the originals.

Donīt be so upset, creators have asked oppinions, and we are giving them, even if they are not good.

yep, some of those tracks are quite funny, but I mostly liked them, also being a fan of Sonic 2. some arrangements are very smart, and you know that no project is 100% perfect. it has strong points as well as weak points, so my overall evaluation is surely positive. this is definitively an enjoyable work.

+1 to all ReMixers!

Thanks for all the great feedback guys (especially the Radio/Robeatnik's comments -- it's really appreciated)! Tons of great email coming in as well -- great job mixers.

So we've serverd over 12,000 hits and 100GB of data so far... anybody know if the torrent is still going well? I saw something about another bad seed a few pages back. Last time that was my work computer, so someone please let me know if that's still acting up.

... anybody willing to donate a mirror? The bandwidth is exceeding my best expectations! :D

any chance of some lossless audio being offered? the torrent put all kinds of clips into my mp3s, you should really compress everything in something with a quality check like .rar or even better .flac. anywho eventually we got the good stuff from Relics of the Chozo and Kong in Koncert offered up the original .wav files, any chance we will be getting them here too?

I'm just getting to listen to the entire collection. I was out of town all weekend, knowing that the project had indeed been released, and having no way to hear it. Ssso... more or less....... writhing in pain. Anyway, now I am listening. Oddly enough, I thought Aquatic Ruin Zone was one of the best Sonic songs ever, and I have been looking forward to a remix of it since the dawn of time. Unfortunately, unless I had eventually opened my iTunes window to check what song I was listening to, I would have never guessed that I was hearing the remix of Aquatic Zone. The track is awesome, but there's not even a hint of the original song in it. God, it sounds like I'm complaining. I'm really not. This is awesome and I love it. Super happy love love. Happy smile. Thank you and congratufreakinlations.

Btw why not let us hear the original to compare the two? Just an idea.

oook

http://www.zophar.net/gym/sonic2.rar

Well now, that takes me back to what i used on the final, after i thought about it for about 5 mins...i decided that i would clean up what i had the best i could, and call it a day. I have mixed the song waaay too many times for me to even think about touching it again.

heh, I downloaded the torrent and I must say I'm glad, because its better than what I expected.
My personal favorites (in no particular order):

Snyderman - Chemical Reaction
Sadorf - aquatic project
Jayson Litrio - Hill Top Heaven
Analoq - Oil Spill
Analoq - Next My generation
Hadyn - Travelling Through a Dream
Blak Omen - SuperSonic Ska
Jonathon Striker - Casino Jazz Club
Richter - Radio Reluts (LMAO that was helluva fun!)

I liked how there was a good mixture of diferent genres, although I think that the jazzy and funky songs prevailed. hell, even my song has some touches of jazz. Anyways, this was nice. And again , Nice Work.

I TOTALLY LOVE YOU I thought nobody liked my mix ;_;

03-15-2005, 11:29 AM
I only have tracks 1-9, and SuperSonicSka. I agree, it is cool. Not the best, but you did a good job on a 10 second original song :p.

So far, only analoq's two songs are lovable, and Chemical Reaction is another cool one, but the rest I have are not for me. I stilled haven't found out how Project Aquatic is like Aquatic Ruins. House of Cards (The original Casino Night Zone is my favorite of the game) is very interest, hard to desipher from its original, but it gives it a carnival feel. The rest are not the best.

I honestly don't hate them, or think they suck (And some songs take a couple of days before that 'awesome' factor kicks in for me) but I think it could have been much better. I think the project is still a success either way.

Well, after having my little tagalong's dance of joy, I suppose I should give a proper review now that I've listened to HH a couple of times through. Is there going to be, as someone mentioned, a regular feedback thread like there is for RotC? And you can link it to the HH pages?

In any event, here 'tis:

Faves: Chemical Reaction, Hill Top Heaven, Next My Generation, Casino Jazz Club, Robeatnik's Theme, Sonik Caves

Congratulations on doing the first Chemical Plant remix that I really like. The original song is my baby, and I've heard nobody do it right except Snyderman. Super Sonic Ska was a great solution to a tough task--remixing Super Sonic--and comes out having fun. Props to Jason Litrio making Hill Top no longer annoying, but actually quite friendly to my ears. Of course Next My Generation kicks, and Casino Jazz Club provides something cool that finalizes this album.

I wish that there wasn't so much of an electronic feel to some parts of Hedgehog Heaven. Kong in Concert achieved that, and it shines for it. Tracks 1 through 7 of HH (beside some others), however, are a lot of computer music broken only by the breath of fresh air that Hill Top Heaven brings in. The songs sound good and are well-made, but it sometimes feels like too much electricity and too many binary numbers.

I would have done Is This The End? differently. Nice sound, but it toes the line of the original too much, and it doesn't take advantage of the original moods as I would have liked it to.

I stand by my earlier statement, though: "Hedgehog Heaven kicks ass." Good job, mates.

One or two good songs in this whole arrangement.

All in all, I think these songs didn't do the GREAT soundtrack of Sonic 2 justice. ESPECIALLY Mystic Cave Zone. That was my favorite track from the game, and it sounded awful ont his. It's a shame these remixes didn't come out better.

Well...I didn't like most of the remixes but I can see that they were very good. It's just not my taste in music. I do keep 3 of the songs on a play list though, Emerald Nights, Aquatic Project, and Next My Generation. They be teh fun ones. ^_^

Selected track assessment:

1. Emerald Nights: Good mix. Nothing really special, but enjoyable.
2. Chemical Reaction: Good, but not my favorite of this excellent track. That title actually goes to Chemical Overdose, Musically Inspired's WIP, followed by Chemical Juice from Jivemaster.
3. Aquatic Project: Great stuff here. In a way very similar to Rayza's Sonic 1 Green Hill Euroclub Remix, I find myself unconciously dancing along with this track more or less every time I hear it.
4. House of Cards: Also great stuff. I like how everything sounds (or is) off-beat.
5. Hill Top Heaven: Disappointing, but good. This was probably my favorite track on the game, and I was hoping for something a little more fast-paced and rolickling than laid-back groove. It works, and works well, but it isn't the way I would've done it (assuming that I was able to remix anything instead of just play instruments).
6. Cavern Escape: I'm sorry for bluntness here, but I really do not like this track at all. Beatdrop's Stripmine is far more to my liking.
7. Oil Spill: Great job. I love when the drums come in around 0:30, harmonic chords that start around 3:40. Very well done.
8. Next My Generation: Easily my favorite track on the entire project. Wow. I was singing this bassline/melody in my head all day for about a week after I first heard it.
9. Robeatnik's Theme: Second favorite on the project. Love the swing on the melody and the beat. Great work.

Good project overall; some tracks are disappointing, but Next My Generation, Robeatnik, Oil Spill, and Aquatic Project take up the slack in a big way.

I've been listening to the CD 3 days straight when it first came out. I should come here and tell my appreciation at least.

Although the CD in general didn't make me go WOAH! as i expected, i'm still enjoying it. I'd first like to congratulate all the new remixing figures that took part in the project. You're not veterans, but the fact that you've been able to make a remix that got accepted on a project is probably an honor for you :D As for older/more experienced remixers, you still did a great job as always, and you already have more than enough in kudos from other listeners.

To everyone, great job into creating and finishing this project. I'm more or less curious of what the new faces from HH will sound like in a year from now, with the experience you'll aquire. Don't be discouraged by how some found the project to be bad (or to suck in less good words), this isn't a project created by veteran remixers only, like they were expecting.

I am gald to have been a part of the project with my one track thats short and not outstanding but has completed the CD. To be honest, I don't care for all of the tracks too much, but one of the greatest things that I love about the project is not so much the quality, but that it encouraged people to complete the project by doing remixes to songs that haven't been touched as well as putting out better remixes that previously weren't done. analoq OilSpill (track 7) is awesome and I am so amazed by it. I'm also glad to find hilltop zone remix, which the original sounded so synth country, and radio results (track 20) brings a nice touch by adding imagination and yet leaving it simple though long. I'm actually happy to see all of the sonic 2 themes have at least one remix now, and I hope to see the same results with future game product. torrent these files guys. If they aren't all to your liking, try replacing tracks with what you like, but now you can finally have your own sonic 2 remix CD.

Wow... I downloaded the entire a while ago and casually tossed aside along with all the other massive amounts of remixes I have been downloading. However, I was organizing and decided to invest my ears more specifically. I have always been most fond of the S&K3 soundtrack, but I liked this bit here. It was all nicely done. My favorite track is Oil Spill and couple other honorable mentions are Super Sonic Ska, Emerald Nights, and Hidden Palace Future, but they're all impressively good. Good work.

Hetcenus: I believe there was some track name mixup back when the project was still in progress.
This was taken from the 'Next My Generation' (Sonik Metro) OCR review page:
anyways, long story short:
during the course of the project two of my remix names got mixed up.
this wasn't the one i wanted on OCR to 'debut' the project.

Right.
But...

nah, i'm cool with how things turned out --
so the current names are now officially the 'correct' ones.

cheers.

A really fine job on those tracks i must admit - heh irony is they've been laying couple of weeks on my hard drive before I've actually listened to them - then again i realised how stupid i was to wait =/
Anyways i think Snyderman made really intresting remix
also the "Hidden palace future" is intresting remix.
Keep the good work if any new projects are ahead :)

HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

A toast to the first Sonic project; let's hope the next one won't be as long to release! (what was it, a year and a half?)

Still lovin' Hidden Palace Future, Oil Spill and Radio Results.

IGN's got an article regarding Sonic's 15th birthday - check the one image about halfway down. They posted a shot of the cover, but didn't say fuck all about it.

I wonder why they used the hedgehog heaven edit (which I think didn't even ended up being the final cover) instead of the original... even more puzzling is that there's no mention of this project elsewhere in the write-up. Odd.
It's actually an official but alternate cover. But yeah, I found all that rather funny myself.

I decided to fix the tracklisting on the back label to match the 'correct' list.
I think two of analoq's tracks were right on the previous version. 8th is Next My Generation from Metropolis Zone, and 19th is Sonik Caves from Mystic Cave Race.
Or did he change the names after??

I had it all sorted out. The mix on OCR now has the original and correct name, i.e. "sonik metro" (http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01327/). The Mystic Cave Zone 2-Player mix is "Next My Generation (sonik caves)". analoq titled it "sonik caves" as a WIP but changed it to "Next My Generation" since he felt like ending his streak of tracks with names of "sonik something". Perhaps Aaron can submit the real "Next My Generation" down the road. :-)

Uhh... I've got a remix pending to be judged on the last boss theme. If it gets excepted, will it be allowed onto the Sonic Heaven project?
((Doomsday Meets da Funk, which if not rejected, might get a resubmit for mastery... :vomit: ))_

((Doomsday Meets da Funk, which if not rejected, might get a resubmit for mastery... :vomit: ))_lol no, projects are developed as an entity on their own, and aren't touched afterwards.

I have some news! Qjimbo wrote a tool that allows you to use mp3 files as soundtrack while playing Sonic 2 in the Gens emulator. His goal was to replace the in-game music with the remixes from Hedgehog Heaven. Of course you can use also other mp3s, but the result is great. I made a sample video for him, you can watch it here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=h-GmK9Beq6M

Of course, in the info panel of that video, there is big credit to OCR and stuff ;)
I think this is a great idea, I like to play Sonic 2 with HH as background!

Damn it leaked!!Apart than that... I meant that he is developing a tool that is able to interface itself with Sonic 3 & Knuckles, since its sound engine is different than Sonic 2's. And the goal of the new tool is to be used with Project Chaos mp3s. I hope this is better now ;)

This "album" is pretty nifty... Some of the tracks make me question just what made them reach OCRs standards (More than a few sounded like midirips), and others feel like they were rushed, but at the same time there are some pretty powerful tracks on there, such as Sadorf's Project Aquatic (although I still have trouble deciphering that it is indeed Aquatic Ruin), Oil Spill (God I loved this track), Hidden Pallace Future, Travelling Through a Dream (Which reminded me of a car commerical), and the great Robeatnik theme.

Overall it's pretty great.

Well of course not all the songs are up to OCR's standards, but they dont have to be. It is just a project that is featured on ocr, not all the songs are on the actual site....i think like what...one of them is? heh. Site projects are just lots of people covering most songs from the certain game. While a lot of the songs are not up to ocr standards...there are a couple good ones...like...MINE, like u said...but even so, it is nowhere to be found on OCR :)

I dont know where i was goin with that so uhmm...

bye bye!

Overall, I thought this was a pretty good album, although it lacked the power that many of the others, especially DSoP and Project Chaos had to them. Some of the tracks seemed to me that they could have been so much more exciting when they instead opted for a more mellow feel overall. I love the smooth, jazzy feel of "Robeatnik's Theme" but after hearing the style of remixes from SnappleMan and Braincells, I keep getting hit by how much more adrenaline-pumping these songs could have been.

Having said that, I love "High Above the Sky" to death.

Hey, anyone remember back, before the project was released, a poll that was on the Hedgehog Heaven website? It was a poll on which of the three Robotnik remixes would be on the album and Robeatnik's Theme won. Does anyone have links to the other two remixes that were in that poll?

I think the other two were Joker's "Flesh and Steel" and one by a guy named Golden Tears (using an odd font). I have Joker's "Flesh and Steel", but I can't give it to you until Friday...unless someone else does it first. :P

I was a bit irked when I found out that the album had no end credits medley like in the game. I went ahead and made one using the remixes from the album and a little bit of my own stuff:

Yeah, I think the biggest thing to take away from this album is that too much techno is not a good thing. This is a great album, except for "Sonikku, Ganbatte!" by mario and "Super Sonic Ska" by Blak Omen. Too many sound effects and both of them sound like they were simply ripped from the game and then spruced up a bit. My favorites are "High Above the Sky" and "Is This the End?" "Bring in the Machine" could have been so much better with a guitar.

Over all: Project Chaos > Hedgehog Heaven. >.>

Countless times I've listened to most of the tracks on this album. Before Project Chaos was released, I'd spend countless hours listening to the tracks related to the 11 zones. My three favorite tracks are:

I. Bring in the Machine
II. Travelling Through a Dream
III. Apocalyptic Orbital Ovum

Do any of you think Sega should've finished Hidden Palace, Wood, Dust Hill, and Genocide City zones before releasing Sonic 2?

I'm not saying Hedgehog Heaven didn't have flaws, though. Unfortunately, I thought the second half of Cavern Escape and the ending to Oil Spill didn't suit the zone's environment or eariler parts of said tracks.
