Part II: Beyond the Point of No Return!

I had to re-visit the second part of the Plumber's Bane Saga lol. I had to change out the ending to something video game related... so I picked NSMBW..
New ending: New Super Mario Bros. Wii - End of World Castle

Number two is a bit on the boreing end of things....and number 1 is excelent, but...it seems to just be a bunch of covers put together into one mega (very nice sounding) medley with nice samples and stuff.

I like this alot! I can't wait for the finished product. I've never played New Super Mario Bros. I'm more into the old games.
But that sound in the beginning of the 2nd one, it sounded like that scene from Lord of the Rings: Return of the King when Smeagol killed his cousin. How did you make that sound? It's awesome!
Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comments. I'm kinda busy with school right now so I'm not gonna be able to put much work into this for a little while.

I was waiting for someone to comment on that. Rammfan87, you're close, very close. Actually I cheated. I'm not sure if what I did is fround upon but what I did was sample a series of sound effects right out of a movie and added some of my own bits to it (with a bit more to be added soon). The movie was actually Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. But yeah, if this kind of sampling is 'bad' or whatever, someone let me know. The stuff is not really music but just sound effects I thought would build the mood. I Love how creepy it is!!!
NOW, if you can guess what the last bit is based on I'll really be surprised!!

I was close, but that would be GREAT if I knew how to make that sound.
But I have no other clue where the other came from. I could have sworn it was from Return of the King, though. Oh well. But I'm a student in college, so I understand what it's like to not have time to make songs.

yeah. It would be nice to be able to do something like that myself (sound effects) I'm still learning. I'm in College too, or university as we canadians call it. I'm trying to write up a Inorganic Chem lab as we 'type'. It's not going well.
And I still can't think of a name for the Second Movement!!! lol

Hey.
Thanx for the sudjestions. I like "A Dargon Scorned" or the similar "A Dragon's Scorn". I do have another idea, but it's kinda long: "Beyond the Point of No Return". We'll see.

the first one is very interesting, but kind of generic until about halfway through. the second one, was absolutely awesome! you could probably could get this passed if you submitted it. the second one had a gripping, exciting, serious theme to it. sound quality is excellent! great job! -The Lone Ranger

This is gonna be another slow release for me. I'm all tied up with school and midterms and other crap that I wish I never had to look at again. oh well. The only thing new I have come up with is a short into for the first movement. But it still needs A LOT of work. I also want to try any expand on the first main theme a bit, when i get the time.
Question: Does anyone else think I need to re-sequence the drums in the second movement? I'm not sure if i like them that much.
Opinions?

(first movement) I like it a lot, but some parts near the beginning seem a little bit too seperated, like they're just clips thrown together, I think it would be better if there was a melody going to connect the two, just one melody line, (lead or background) that worked with both transitioning pieces that kept going as everything else changed. It could come in just a tad before each transition and then fade out shortly after, you don't need to use the same melody every time either.
I have not experience whatsoever in re-mixing, thats just an idea I think might work. Good luck with everything.

Unfortunatly no. The song got 'backburnered' and there it stayed. I'll probably take a look at it again sometime, try and fix it up a bit. It is pretty close to done anyway.

WOW.
The SMW Bowser Battle sequence gave me chills when those chords came in. There are so many excellent sequences in this mix - and this doesn't feel at all like a medley, despite all the songs used.
And thanks for posting the track origins - it helps to pick out where the different melodies came from (I had missed the World 8 map tune altogether on first listen, and I'm not as familiar with NSMB as the classic games).
Fantastic Bowser music throughout. Poor Mario - this is one hell of a long level! :) Hope to see this "officially" on OCR soon.

I actually never meant to submit this song, in it's full or 2 part form, but I since the response is so positive, I guess I should..

It'd be hard to submit this as it is, since it is over the 8mb file limit, but you should definitely submit this in 2 parts or in a smaller form

I agree, this is so good, i bet this is direct post material. But don't quote me on that
But yes, submit this in some form, shortened, 2 part, compressed to fit under the limit, ANYTHING, This NEEDS to be on ocr.

This mix is awesome. And when you think it's done, it just keeps coming back with more awesome. Bowser's music doesn't get the respect due to it. This is a step in the right direction for Koopas everywhere.
But seriously, good luck with the judges!

The links were not intentionally removed. Tindeck's down, that's all.

Late, but meh.
So I subbmitted both parts of the song to the judges. And as most of you know, This first part was a direct post to the site ^_^
http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01872/
The second part was subbmitted a while after, but there was an issue with a non video game reference at the end of the song. So I pulled the submission.
Well I fixed this issue and here is the result.

This version has also been submitted (Nov 22, 2009) so it should be entering the panel soon... i hope

As usual, awesome stuff!
I'm kinda curious, though: was the non-vgm reference at the end of Part II long or something? I ask 'cause if a non-vgm reference is grounds for disqualification how did Kidd Cabbage's 'Naito Obu [br00tl] (http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01982/)' get through with the obvious "Trooper" (Iron Maiden) reference around 2:35 (ish)? Don't get me wrong, its an awesome remix and The Trooper fits very well. It just seems like a bit of a double standard to me... *shrug*
Again, awesome music! Can't wait to see Part II on the front page!

It wasn't long, about a min or so.. i think.. lol either way..
I like the new version more anyway!! SO it worked out well!
The original ending was a near-verbatim copy that lasted around 35 or 40 seconds.
The new ending is much better, and much more fitting in my opinion.

Sounds excellent! Much better conclusion than before, and in my opinion, it makes the original NSMBW castle theme sound even better. Makes me wish that segment were longer. Also, will you be including this in a full version of the track?

I have a full version of this song, But have not uploaded it. I will shortly.
I have not mentioned on this post but there will be more parts to Plumber's Bane in the future. I have Part III in ther works and have an idea for Part IV. Thou there isn't much to post yet, Part III will focus on the SMW castle theme and also the NSMBW Castle theme featured in the New version of Part II.
Stay Tuned
