Count me in as a mixer, thanks for the invite. :)
IMO prob wait till the start of summer. You know May/June? Everyone will have a lot more time during the summer. You guys are the Master in Chief and the Prime Minister so it's your call.

Well, by start I mean post the first WIP due date. ;)
I'll get a track list up, we can discuss how the project is gonna work, and pick our tracks. That way we can already be ready when we go to "officially" start.
I dunno... I'd be INTERESTED but I went through the soundtrack and I didnt get much, if any, inspiration.... Dont know if my style will work with this... I'l keep listning, see what I get

Damn I thought there were a whole lot more songs!
Yeah 'wings' is the same track as 'Powerful Mario' I believe. It's gonna upbeat and have lots of energy. I'll prob be using Reason, so if anyone else is interested in the same song I'm up for collabs.

Hey. I've been listening here at OCR for years now, and I just started getting into the community so you may not know me. However, I do consider myself to have musical talent to a degree. I'm not sure how to go about doing a project or anything, but I would like to try and contribute :) I have made some remixes in the past, all which cut short because of FL6 mishaps. Haven't contributed anything worthwhile yet, though. I'll post some links to them below so you will know a bit of what I'm capable of. Let me know if you want me on the project or need any more information or anything.

I'm interested. You can find my stuff around. I'm on OCR and was in that FF7 competition. Uh, I know my mix here was piano, but I do a bunch of stuff. The only conflict may be depending on what time you choose to start the project. So email me, or something.

Powerful mario is indeed the same track. It's also friggin awesome.
I know it might seem like a small tracklist, but there are only 15 stages and some of the tracks are re-used. These are the ones that are longer then 30 seconds long basically. I think 20 tracks is a nice round number anyway :D.

Just had a listen to those tracks, and its quite promising, so if pocketman is okay with it, I am too.

As long as the first due dates a ways off, I'd like to join! I got my eye on Dire Dire Docks, but fishy's doing it, so I'm leaning towards Koopa's Road, or Piranha Plants lullaby.
I've been a part of some projects, & I have a track in the to be posted list in the judges panel, so I'm kinda an ocremixer... kinda.

POCKETMAN

Okay, guys here is how I like to work my track lists. First, I have not really gone through the soundtrack myself yet. Just Fishy. And he cut all the tracks shorter then 30 seconds. If you really want a track not on the list it's totally cool, just say so. I happen to know V___ remixed a song from solitare that was like 3 seonds long, only had like 7 notes. And the mix was great! In other words, you can have whatever track you want, you just have to tell me. ;)

Just to make absolutely sure, you did contact a mod/judge about this, right? It use to be darkesword but I'm not sure who took over. If you haven't you must or they will shut the thread down. Also, you need to wait on moving the thread anywhere. From my understanding that's up to their descretion.

I was under the impression that this project wouldn't be starting up for a while, I don't have time to work on any more at the moment but will be able to in the future.
Also I thought the move to Community is normally used when the project starts up properly and is confirmed as official/unofficial. It's done to grab the attention of potential remixers and supporters that don't browse the Requests section.
POCKETMAN
02-13-2007, 09:08 PM

Here's the Chrono Trigger mix (http://frattp.tripod.com/) that I've got in queue to judge.
This (http://frattp.tripod.com/id2.html) is one of my Theory/Comp projects for school. It's not at all mastered, I just put it in Reason because I hated how bad MIDI sounds. I don't remember what LRH (http://frattp.tripod.com/id2.html) stands for. Who knows.

After listening to the OST, I figured out the thing. Ending Demo is the music that plays after Mario defeats Ultimate Koopa. And flies back to the Castle to see Peach. She's talking about you restoring the power to the Castle and whatnot. Then she kisses you on the nose, which justifies a spinning peace sign, and when she says "Let's go make a cake" or something, that's when the "Staff Roll" theme starts. It's called "Ending Demo" because it's the N64 version of a cutscene.

i'll do lethal lava land on two conditions.
1. someone finds me a midi, i didn't see one on google.
2. someone identifies a real melody other than the random soloing that the 'sitar' does.
else, i'll do koopa's theme. it's gonna be wierd since i don't have anything in terms of normal sfs or beats or anything cause it's all stolen, but it'll be cool, i think.

Yeah, 2:48's short. But it's the best 2:48 on the entire site in my opinion. Matter of fact that mix is the second I ever downloaded from this site, and it's the reason I've been here for 5 years, and I still haven't found anything I like as much as that song.

Sorry dude, but I'm pretty sure that's the Main Theme you began remixing and that one's already taken. The Title Theme is the song you hear on pretty much every Mario game ever made. Although, it's very nice.
Antipode
03-03-2007, 06:11 AM
Oh, I was under the impression that "Main Theme" was Bob-omb Battlefield and that this theme he remixed, the File Select theme, was taken by andyjayne. Regardless, yes, this is very nice.
Question about the rules.
If in a case like this, would one be allowed to join a track which is already taken and if the coordinators decide it is better, potentially replace said track with his own? I know the other projects have allowed a system like this. If all the tracks are taken and a really good remixer wants to sign on, is he out of luck?
EDIT: I've been screwing around with Lethal Lava Land. No guarantees, as it sounds bad as of right now. We'll see.

Man, what a coincidence. I've been stuck in a compositional rut lately, so I decided to try to put together a remix to get the creativity flowing. I ended up picking the "Koopa's Road" track to do, and then while browsing around here, I noticed this project. Looks like it's already taken, and Zoola already has a WIP. Well, if anyone's interested, or if Zoola wants to take another one (which I doubt and that's perfectly fine), here's my quick sketch.

Well... I'm really really trying to reserve that track for someone who is a drum genius, because it a very important aspect of that track and it needs to be done justice. Your WIPs are more spooky/atmospheric/orchestral from what I've heard, so regardless of who I think should do Koopa's theme, I would have reccomended you take Haunted House either way, cause thats the kind of track it is. Would that be ok?

The only reason I wasn't going straight for Haunted House is it's lack of melodic source material, whereas Koopa had more melodic source. I'm stoked for Haunted House though. One of my favorites. I'm down.

The Joker
03-18-2007, 09:03 AM
I'm not done. Though, I'd like to clarify. Me & Escariot are letting Koopa go, as none of us can get anything going right now, & to be honest, the song wasn't giving me any ideas. Though, like I said in the past, if another spot opens on a track that I'm interested in, I'm in! Just keep me on the backup remixers list if you want, & let me know when something opens up.

Also, note: The project thread has now limited registration to Admin approval due to the recent influx of spam bots...

Ok cool, we got lots of stuff going on here, with lots of good forwards momentum happening, WIPs rolling in on their 2nd/3rd versions already, but we still have a number of people not shown anything. They are:
Electric Concerto
Avaris
Cocaine white
the-almighty-tallest
POCKETMAN
thesamareaye
Scardism
Some of you doesn't really count because you've only joined recently. I know the WIP date is far away, but we can whoop this project out in a few months imo. I'm particularly anxious to hear from the-almighty-tallest. You have two tracks claimed, which means you've got the most to do, although I am gonna be helping you out on the main theme, so it's not too much of a problem, but still. We've given you guys a huuuuuge time frame for this first WIP, which means you have no excuses for missing it, so be smart and get it in early and get it out of the way.
I should also note to people interested in mixing: We only have two tracks left:
Lethal Lava Land - I'm not going to lie, the source is a bitch, anyone up for the challenge? I know Prophet Of Mephisto expressed an interest, still around?
Stage Boss - This has loads of room for arrangement, being quite simple. Anyone?

I'm glad you're interested in what I'm doing, but I've got some really important exams coming up, so I'm not going to start remixing until those are out of the way. But I do have some really good ideas, but I'm just gonna be way to busy 'till at least 2 weeks into April, and even then I've only got until May and then I need to pick myself up again revision-wise. I'll try and have something in WIPs by late-May/Early June at the latest.

I do have something small for a WIP but it isn't worth showing. I've had 4 songs to update for projects in the last month let alone reinstalling my OS 3 times. As soon as some my NI stuff gets reactivated I can put in a lil more work on the WIP and post what I got.

I've got Haunted House. It's a bitch, and you wouldn't need the midi anyways since it's pretty easy to figure out on a piano or something.
You're looking at Stage Boss and Lethal Lava Land, I think. The first page of the thread has a link to .mp3 files for the whole soundtrack.

I would like to tentatively claim the intro theme. I've got some kicking ideas in my head. I'm just going to treat it as if those chunks of 8 bars of random drums don't exist, because they're ruining the mario-ness.
Also, Nutricious has done the impossible and come up with an original take on the LLL theme.

Not for this project, sadly. Almost finished my Crescendo To Chaos mix (Well, my part of it anyway), and when my Philosophy exam is over (Monday), I'll get cracking on main Theme. I've done quite a bit already, there's some nice drum fills, but I've made the main melody part really hard for myself just now.
As for the Ending Demo, I've wrote some lyrics. Yeah, you heard me. This is gonna be one hell of a mix for a source that was only about a minute and a half long.
