Anyone else catch that? Nice one. :)

Congrats dude. Damn, we're ALL pairing off these days.

prophetik
02-21-2007, 03:50 AM
i'll keep that in mind, pixie.

like i said, this is summer 08 stuff that we're talking about, but i'm up by the great lakes, in buffalo ny.

she's got a 1/3 carat marquise diamond ring, 14k gold. it's all i could afford, but she's so tiny (think smaller than jill) that it looks great.

i told her i wanted to have ocr kids in before the wedding and hopefully at the ceremony, and she asked me if 'those types of people are who i want to be partying with in my last day as a single man'. i pointed out i don't really have any friends to hang out with anyways, and she laughed and said she wanted to meet everyone. i'm worried for her, with some of you.

Anyone else catch that? Nice one. :)
while bahamut's right, THIS is why you all aren't allowed to be around after the wedding thing. receptions are expensive, but i want to get some funk on with me wife. she likes DHS's Human Race mix for the first song after i carry her in over the vestibule.

i love how everyone on my projects has come in and said something =) i have the best friends that i've never met. except for pixie, bahamut and gt, so far.

as of 4:25 EST today, i got engaged =)

so, today was the second anniversary of me meeting her. so, we were talking about that on the way back to my room, and she mentioned that she had just gotten a late valentines day gift for me (a book). i said i had something for her too, and she had to close her eyes and hold out her hands. she did, and i put the ring on her finger and asked, "will you marry me?"

she was so totally surprised, and said yes (of course). so, now i'm engaged. OCR meetup before/at my wedding (NOT AFTER), sometime in summer of '08.

i'd post a picture, but i don't have any good ones uploaded right now.

=) Win. You are a lucky man. Congratulations and may it last forever.

That's a hell of a long time to wait to get married. 18 months?

Usually when you get engaged, it's 6 months. However, you bucked tradition by waiting 2 years instead of the traditional 12 months.

Anyways, good luck.

Congratulations! I hear you on having to wait until you graduate. My parents were ok with me getting married before my wife and I graduated, although it took some convincing, but we had friends who had to wait an extra year because their parents thought it was a bad idea and wouldn't help them with the wedding financially if they'd married earlier. You'll have plenty of time to plan things though. Good luck!

Sure, you want to book a couple of the big things (reception hall, church, photographer, and florist) as soon as possible, but those are decisions that don't take a ton of planning and research to make. If the little stuff takes a long time, learn to plan or go elope or something.

yay for old threads.

i promised to update when i had more info, and i shall. the wedding will be officially occurring on saturday, July 12, 2008. it'll be taking place at a church near where she lives (think Jamestown NY area, just into pennsylvania) with the reception at her house. and the afterparty will be at an unnamed hotel, so you fags can't barge in and laugh at me.

we've decided on a variety of light and dark blues, and white, to be our colors for the wedding. she's apparently already found a dress, and i'll be getting a(nother) tux with some sort of light blue vest and tie. its going to be a small ceremony - 120 people, probably no more than one or two groomsmen/bridesmaids outside of the best man and maid of honor. because of the large size of our families and the (as of yet) restricted guest list, i think that only a few trusted (lol) friends will be attending the reception, but i think that there'll be room for any mixers who feel like trekking into the wilds of northern PA. i think. not sure yet. i'd love to see some other mixers besides the few that i'll be inviting to the reception show up =) i think that right now only stevo bortz and taucer are invited on my section of the list. we'll see beyond that.

and for the record, the best classical arrangement of the wedding march gets played at my wedding FO SHO!

for those of you that don't remember or know...

http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s319/theprophetofmephisto/Linneaatletchworthlowerfalls.jpg <HER

i only look like that sometimes. generally i look much less dressed up. i don't like tuxes.

more info as we have it! we're working on the menu, and we're going for our engagement pictures sometime this week, so i'll post them when we've got them.

we actually reset the ring - it was yellow gold and she wanted white. so, as part of the wedding set, we put her diamond in white gold and got an enhancer too.

i got the tungsten carbide ring, made out of the same stuff that they use to tip concrete drill bits. the insurance doesn't cover the ring breaking, because one of these rings has never broken. instead, it covers cutting the damned thing off if it gets stuck, and replacing it.

I don't know why but I LOL'ed at the photographers comment. Enjoy each other for a while...then you can go back to hating each other. :<

I'm totally kidding!! You guys look really good together. Do you guys have similar interests??

Oh, one more question. Has she started having "Bridzilla" moments yet? Mine has, but nothing major....yet.

linnea hasn't been a bridezilla yet, but my sister (four years older, engaged two months after me, getting married the month before me) has already been one a few times. like when she informed me i was writing her a song as a wedding present. thanks for warning me.

this is the entire gallery, if you're curious. (http://orinfoto.smugmug.com/gallery/3090351)

our photographer was elisha whitmore, a photographer in the jamestown NY area. she's FANTASTIC. she's so good at catching the little moments that make some pictures really stand out (as you can see).

You are a very lucky man. I hope you know I wasn't trying to sound negative about your fiancee with the whole bridzilla thing. I'm just also going through the same phase you are right now with planning our wedding, and I was trying to be funny....but it didn't work..... :(

EDIT: actually to comment on when you asked about my last name. Every once in a while my fiancee Ashley jokingly asks, "Do I have to change my name to Wiener?"
