View Full Version : Possible DDR submission...

Alright, I'm thinking of finishing this up tomorrow and giving DDR a shot with this one. Admittedly, it's a bit odd for a dance track (being more of a breakbeat, and a bit strange sounding at that). What do you guys think? Danceable? Maybe I'm just crazy, but I could see this working for some reason.

Well, I like it. I'd dance to it if it was on DDR, no doubt. Really sounds like it could work on DDR imo.

Hey, excellent start here. Reminds me a bit of zircon's stuff. Great effects on the drums.

Thanks guys. Yeah, this was just a quick sketch. I spiced it up a bit and added a little section so it's about 1:40 long. I may just submit it for the heck of it.

So sue me; my big submission tends toward euro-trance. :p Oh yeah, with live violins too; it's cool. ;)

Not bad, not bad. Definitely peculiar sounding, but I like it. Drums aren't quiet flamboyant enough for my tastes, but overall it's pretty quality.

To be honest with you, though, based on some of the stuff I've listened to that's entered into the competition, I'm not sure how much of a chance you stand. And I'm not singling you out, either, because I personally don't think I stand much of a chance either. I submitted two breakbeat tracks before realizing that zircon submitted some of his own stuff, and hearing it again just made me feel inferior. I can't do breaks like he can.

Thanks for the honesty. I'm kicking myself that I didn't sit down and work on this some more over the past week; we'll see how eager I am to "waste" 20 bucks.

Ah what the heck: here's my other entry.

reminds me of Crystal Method, specially with the interjecting pads. Really cool shit man.

Holy shite that Visions one is friggin awesome! Wow i really like that one dude. It sounds like is from an anime, more specifically Yuki Kaijura songs. What are you using for the lead at 1:35? Sounds like a violin, but it just has a certain type of texture to it that seems different.

Thanks! I imagine I'll lengthen it somewhat when I get some time to work on it. Four midterms this week might cut that time down quite a bit. :p

Thanks man, glad you liked it. I've had a couple people tell me that it sounds like an anime; which I really can't relate to because I'm not into anime at all (can't even think of the last time I saw one.) And yeah, that's a "real" violin; I really didn't put any effects on it at all, beyond layering it and reverb. I'll take my chances with the DDR judges on it. :)

Just (tentatively) finished this one up for a battle tournament, adding elements of dnb, orchestral, and continuing with the breakbeat. Everything after 1:23 is new, so that's about two extra minutes from what it was before.

Same link, but I'll post it again anyway.
